I found Hair by Julianne Cho and was booked with Sumi, and I'm so glad I trusted her! Sumi was incredibly sweet, patient, and attentive throughout the entire appointment. She actually recommended a softer, wavier perm, but I kept insisting I wanted it curlier (lol). She listened to exactly what I wanted while still giving me honest professional advice, which I really appreciated. She also recommended getting a haircut beforehand, and I'm SO glad I listened. I have really thick hair with a lot of density, and she spent about 40 minutes cutting it. She didn't rush at all and was so meticulous. She removed just enough weight while keeping my length, added beautiful long layers, and gave my hair so much more movement and dimension. The perm came out exactly how I was hoping! My hair feels so much lighter, the curls are beautiful, and I'm honestly obsessed with the result. I drove about an hour from the Valley, and it was 100% worth it. Parking was easy, the salon was clean and adorable, and they even had snacks and drinks for clients. Overall such a great experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive again. Jennifer agreed to accommodate me and even stayed after hours to work on me. She assessed my hair and decided what to do (we ended up removing 50% of the extensions -- the previous salon had added too much hair so she could charge me for more hair, which was one of the reasons I ended up looking like I was wearing a wig). Jennifer cut the width of the extensions and replaced them at the most natural position for my head shape, and blended everything together seamlessly. Jennifer, you are amazing!!! Thank you so much. I ended up booking for Wednesday afternoon, parked nearby the coffee shop. Wasn't a busy day. Arlene is such a hair expert! I told her I prefer short hair for the volume and she showed me some ideas. We decided that a short bob would be best to fix my mess! She did a fantastic job fixing up the uneven pieces, making sure to fix the bangs so it would grow out nicely. She also showed me how to style it at home, since short hair is high maintenance. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'll definitely be back when it's time to trim. Through the non-profit "Children with Hair Loss" Du Japon Hair Club was vetted for donations and is the only approved salon in the Los Angeles area. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

Yuki should have warned me that my hair was too fine for this process instead of taking my money to ruin my hair. If she is so experienced and so great she should have known better and know that the process she was doing would ruin my hair. This is my warning to others that are going here to have straightening done. Don't rely on her to tell you it's not right for your hair. To top it off when I called to tell her she did not apologize, she did not act as though she felt bad her response was not caring at all. Not to mention she didn't offer any advice or a refund. Now it will take me years to get my hair healthy and I'm so upset.

I said I had another appt after but that would be fine. I arrived and sat down and waited. They said I was checked in. I waited one hour before going to the front desk to say that now, I would not have time to do the appt because, as I told them, I would have to leave for another appt. I had allotted 2 hours and now there was only 1 hour left and I had not even been seen or sent for hair washing. All the while I waited, I could see Sal doing at least 2 other people's hair. When I asked the front desk if I could reschedule, they said they would talk to him. Several minutes passed. Sal was aware that I was there, but chose not to speak to me himself. He chose not to even take two minutes to face me and apologize. He was going to Mexico the next night, and could only offer the next day during hours I had to work. The salon manager apologized for Sal and offered another hair dresser. I have curly hair and want someone experienced in curly hair- especially when the haircut is right before my wedding and will cost hundreds of dollars. I think the worst part was that Sal was right there but simply didn't have the courtesy to apologize. I will never return to this salon. As for my wedding in two weeks, I have asked my makeup artist to help me find someone.

I specifically said I was willing to pay the extra because I did not want yellow or orange roots. Not only did my roots remain yellow after processing and toner, but since the appointment I now have noticeable breakage on the bottom of my hair that was not present beforehand. My hair appear fragile and uneven, and my hair feels significantly thinner since this appointment. I can't even run my fingers through it .......it feels extremely dry, rough, and damaged. During styling, I also received a burn on my ear from her curling iron. When I raised concerns about the color result. It was dismissed rather than addressed. She told me it was impossible to get my roots bright blonde with regrowth this long....... after already charging me extra for the double process and assuring me it could be done. This service was performed by Jaime, the owner. I am now left with breakage in the back, damaged hair, and yellow roots.

Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. Unexpected Charges and Lack of Transparency…read more I booked my appointment in person on Tuesday 7/15 because I wasn't sure what to select online for Gel-X removal. I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

I came back for a refill, and two days later was in some of the most pain I've ever been in due to a cuticle infection. I voiced concerns that my skin was being cut, but they were shrugged off. After coming into the salon to show them the infection, the front desk staff was polite and helpful advising they would reach out to the owner and share photos they took of the nail. Days passed and I followed up again via phone as I didn't hear back. The owner of the salon requested PHI pertaining to the infection, including what Rx I was on, in order to even consider a refund. Initially, a gift card for the amount spent on the service was offered in lieu of a refund. I mentioned I was not comfortable receiving another service, and received a call back letting me know the owner was willing to grant a refund. Overall, the back and forth took about a week and a half. I was new to the entire gelx process, and am posting this review to let anyone else looking to embark on that journey know they should ask questions and voice their concerns. There are seemingly many happy patrons, but this was my individual experience.

I have been following Larisa for a while on Instagram now and always thought her work is amazing! I was super excited to finally get an appointment with her! I had the best experience ever going to Larisa! She did the consultation first, I showed her what I liked and she gave me her opinion on what she thought would look good on me color wise and haircut. Which personally for me I thought that was great because on my previous experience I wasn't told anything they just went for what I showed them and that was it. Her assistant and her made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I would definitely recommend going to her. Oh and you should definitely do the reveal if you go. I was able to get my hair done with the lovely Larisa and I have to say this experience was absolutely amazing! She was so knowledgeable and comfortable to talk with! She addressed all my hair concerns and helped me to understand my hair better! She took me from a faded red, back to my normal brown with blonde highlights throughout. I have been to Larisa twice and I come all the way from Canada just to get my hair done from her. I have tried various stylist and none of them, I mean absolutely none of them treat your like Larisa and her team does. I have extremely ringlet curly hair that is fine but super frizzy and quite long at the same time. Larisa and her team take their time not only with the colour part of it but also with styling and toning. My hair was so badly tangled up that her assistant took over 40 minutes to patiently and gently detangle it and it didnt even hurt. I am so impressed I with her that I can't put into words. Kat has been doing my hair since I moved to Los Angeles a year ago and she is beyond words of outstanding. I had a really terrible experience with another hair artist in which my extensions were not blended and was not told how to take care of them properly. I came to Kat with knots in my hair and she got every single last one of them out. She is so knowledgeable in the space and I am so grateful to have her. The BEST hair colorist and stylist as well. Obsessed with Larisa, and her co artists Addie and Kat. I've now known them for a couple of years and the service and attention to every detail is exquisite every time. I cannot recommend this salon and these artists enough. Larisa is an awesome creator and knows what she's doing, she can help you get to whatever look you're aspiring to achieve. The experience I had at the LarisaLove Salon was fantastic. They immediately took my temperature, gave me a mask to wear, so my own wouldn't get dyed, and also gave me hand sanitizer. I confirmed the price with her ahead of our appointment and once again during our consultation. I had also received a discount code from her that she said she would apply to the visit. Midway through our appointment while we were making small talk she abruptly informed me that she would be charging me more than what she herself had confirmed during the consultation. It came out of nowhere and was very disorienting. When I reminded her of the discount, she made something up on the spot about how the new higher price still reflected the discount. It was super shady and vague and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I could not leave because my head was wrapped in foil and bleach when she chose to announce this change. The color also did not come out the way we had discussed and she pretty much rushed me out of the chair while we were still within our appointment window and kept making passive aggressive jabs about how she had other clients coming in and how she should charge me even more. It's clear that she was disorganized and had not planned her schedule well and was taking that urgency out on her clients. I found the experience to be unprofessional and baffling and will not be returning.

Her highlighting skills are…read moregreat, she did make a mistake by missing the highlights where my hair parts the first time but I decided to let it go because the rest looked great! This time I came in with the intention of having my roots re-highlighted and thought that maybe we could try blending the blond into something more natural instead of being Hollywood blonde. I showed her my Pinterest images and she said it was "bronde!" I asked her if it was okay to change my hair appointment into that because I had originally booked a roots and haircut and she said it was fine. I wasn't sure what to put down for the original appointment to begin with, all I knew what that my roots had grown out. She later used that against me as one of the reasons not to give me back a refund. The highlighting and lowlights were going fine but everything went drastically wrong once toner was applied. She rinsed my hair and I'm looking at my ends while it's wet and I can already tell it's too dark. She's saying "it's just dark because it's wet." And "once we blow dry it will lighten." She blow dried one section of my hair to see if it was too dark, and I confirmed it was. This was dark ash brown hair. Nothing close to bronde. I ask her if we can lift the toner, she says "fine, break my heart, why don't you." She grabs Malibu CPR and takes me back to the sink to try and lift some of the toner out. It unfortunately only lifts it a little. She tells me "it's lifted it I can tell." I'm trying to convince myself that maybe it's okay. I've already said "it's too dark" multiple times, so then I say things like "maybe I have blonde blindness" or something. She says "it looks exactly like the photos you showed me." I'm thinking it doesn't at all. She cut and blow dries my hair, I'm watching her cut my layers as she's talking to me, she's adjusting my chair to all different levels after making cuts, she isn't paying attention and I'm thinking to myself, 'that isn't how you cut layers properly.' I'm thinking that maybe I'm just exaggerating and that I need to just let the process happen. She blow dries and I see the entirety of my hair. I say, "it is very pretty, but it's just too dark." And that "my manager is going to be mad bc it's brown." I tell her I have a callback tomorrow, and my hair is too dark again (I'm an actor.) All she does is shrug and say "it'll fade after a few weeks of washing." I am so shocked that I just stand there and wait. She's avoiding looking me in the eye while I'm waiting for her to say, "let's reschedule and add some highlights back in to lighten it." Or something!!! And she doesn't. She has another costumer coming in. So I paid her and left. I panic and start looking up ways to strip some of the toner out of my hair. I'm thinking the Malibu CPR didn't work, but I don't want to turn my hair into a brassy mess either by using a powerful stripper at home. So I go to the store and get head and shoulders, I panic wash my hair multiple times that evening and it does nothing. Head and shoulders, then purple shampoo, five times. I'm crying, I'm panicking, i'm trying to see if there are any hairdressers that can take me last minute first thing in the morning and of course there's no one. So, I go to bed and wake up to look in the mirror only to find that my hair oxidized in my sleep. The toner continued to darken my hair. The top is ash brown highlights and the lowlights have turned dark muddy brown down at the ends. I am crying. This is NOT what I asked for. I went to my cousin and she advised me to use the head and shoulders on my hair while it's dry, I crush vitamin c into it for added measure and it lifts my hair enough that the highlights are no longer ash brown. I do my call back last minute, stressed and very upset. I'm so angry over everything that transpired, I want to get my hair properly fixed, but I don't trust Jess to do it anymore. So I asked her kindly for a refund and she refused. When I asked her a second time for a refund, she then gave me a run down on why it was my fault that it turned out that way and that she couldn't refund me. I eventually acquiesced to her reasons and I regret doing that. The only thing she wanted to try and fix was the cut, the rest she blamed me exclusively for and doubled down that she gave me what I asked for. On camera it looks lighter than it is in person, so I asked my friend what she thinks after seeing it in person and she said it's not what I asked for. I've asked family members who have confirmed for me that it's fully brown and not "broned" as well. I can deal with hair gone wrong, but it was her lack of accountability over it, the blaming me, the shrugging and saying it will lighten in two weeks, the lack of action towards fixing it, the $260 out of my wallet, and the deep unhappiness I feel looking in the mirror that made me realize I had to leave this review.

I decided I want platinum blonde, almost white hair for the new year. Naturally, the only extraordin-haire I trust is Jacklyn. She made it so smooth to achieve what I wanted, with zero damage to my hair - and get this... no toner was added to achieve my hair color! She's that good!
