BUYER BEWARE - THINK TWICE BEFORE CHOOSING VANDERFORD AIR…read more I chose Vanderford Air because their website promises "Customer Satisfaction is our #1 Priority," "Quality Workmanship," "Honest Communication," and "Repairs Done Right the First Time." Unfortunately, my experience over the last three years has been the exact opposite. I purchased a brand-new A/C system in July 2023. Within a week, it wasn't cooling properly due to low refrigerant. The same issue happened again in 2024, but instead of finding the leak, I was told to spend more money on a second return. They installed the wrong return box, damaged my ceiling, and later I discovered they failed to connect the drain properly, causing water damage inside my wall that I had to repair myself. In July 2026, the system again wasn't cooling. The technician confirmed the condenser coil was leaking, even though I had complained about refrigerant loss since shortly after installation. When I spoke with Service Manager Dan, he claimed there was no history of my previous service calls until I provided documentation. Rather than taking responsibility, he dismissed my concerns and refused to let me contact the owner directly. After negotiating, I agreed to pay $1,200 because I was promised the leaking coil would be replaced and the incorrect return installation would finally be corrected. When repair day arrived, the crew wasn't even Vanderford employees--they were third-party subcontractors. They showed up with the coil but knew nothing about fixing the return box. While working, one of the subcontractors fell from my attic ladder carrying equipment. I was more concerned about making sure he was okay than Vanderford seemed to be. I requested a call from management and never received one. After spending thousands on a new HVAC system, I've dealt with repeated refrigerant leaks, poor workmanship, home damage, broken promises, and a lack of accountability. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Vanderford Air.

Over the past 4 years I have spent over 20,000 with them only to find out most of what had been done is either useless or not done correctly. Every time I've had an issue they have sent techs out that eventually tell me I needed new coils, new dampers, new plumbing, to have my ducts cleans, and a new outside unit. I don't know a lot about AC so I take it as they are being honest and I just want my AC to run correct. But last year we invested 13000 in a new outside unit, by their recommendation, to fix the new issues we were having and things got worse after that. The house never really cooled correctly after getting the unit and I had humidity issues inside the house. They would send people out to look at it but I was always told things were great. Eventually the compressor in the brand new unit went out and even though it was less than 10 months old and under warranty I was charged 1400 to put the new one in for the "labor" costs. The issues with cooling and humidity continued after the pieces was replaced. I then decided to reach out to a new company to get their opinion on my issues and when the owner of the new company arrived he literally laughed when he saw my ac unit and the work that had been done. He asked who had done it because he wanted to call them himself and complain once he found out what I had been charged. He found holes everywhere in my duct work that had been coved with layers of tape after tape, Leaks around every new damper they had installed and several of the dampers had zero insulation round them and was allowing air to leave the system and hot air to enter. , thus causing my humidity issues and not allowing it to cool the house properly. He also said the compressor issue was because the unit they recommended I buy was not made for the system I have installed and it was overworking and will continue to go out over and over. I have attached pics of just some of the places where you see that they just taped over the issues. He said it was some of the worst ac work he has ever seen done by a "professional". We sat down and went over all the money I had spent with vanderford and what had been done for the money. I was told the majority of what I spent was not necessary if they would have just been honest with me and fixed the root cause of the issue to begin with. Maybe they were being dishonest, maybe their techs didn't know what they were looking for and couldn't find the issue, or maybe they just didn't care to fix it and kept taping the holes knowing I would keep spending money with them. Either way it sucks and Im kicking myself for the time and money I spent with them. The yearly maintenance plan is joke. Had it for 6 years and guys show up, act like they inspect your system and then recommend you buy something to make your system more efficient. FYI.. The new company fixed my issue in ONE day and completely redid the work that vanderford had done and my AC is running better and more efficient than it has in years. Vanderford had been trying to "fix" or "find" the issue for months. Thankfully I called them before the humidity issues vanderford was allowing to happened called mold issues or more in my home. Be careful what "experts" you trust or it may cost you thousands.

The lady answering the phone was very nice and responsive. They were quick to come to our house, but Matt was equally quick to leave. Matt is arrogant and either incompetent or lazy. He did a very cursory inspection and then wanted to sell me a new unit. Ours is 7 years old and works fine. He said our system has "no issues" as I am sleeping in my car due to the poor air quality and my dad was hospitalized.

Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Clear the Air in Pearland, TX (CTA). I am asking my…read morefriends in the area to share my experience to ensure that this doesn't happen to other people. We paid CTA approximately $48k in Aug 2025 for two new HVAC systems and related work. Our goals included improving humidity and comfort. We were sold two 4-ton variable-speed Goodman/Daikin Fit systems and told they would help maintain indoor humidity around 45-50% and significantly reduce our electricity bills. We have requested copies of the required Manual J and Manual S calculations that were performed at that time or even an engineering basis for the change from a 2-ton and 4-ton systems to the two 4-ton systems and have yet to receive one. Instead, we experienced persistent humidity, airflow, and comfort problems. During the winter, we learned our furnace, which required propane configuration, had not initially been properly converted. There is no reasonable excuse for this conversion to be missed since the outdoor units are located within 25 feet of our large propane tank. Conversion kits were installed after we experienced furnace problems. No evidence was provided to show furnace was evaluated for damage due to this issue. By June 2026, we had significant condensation and moisture around HVAC equipment and ductwork, deteriorated/separated duct seals, and other ductwork problems. Water associated with these issues damaged ceilings/drywall. Eventually, CTA determined that a new supply plenum would be required. During the installation of the new plenum, the installer noticed that the ductwork from August 2025 was incorrectly installed. CTA agreed to replace the other supply plenum and inspect the remaining ductwork. When those installers came to the house, they determined that most of the ductwork needed to be replaced. See the video from before they began and the pictures of some of the ductwork that was pulled out of my home. CTA also sent two drywall contractors to our house to evaluate but never authorized the repairs they identified. After the ductwork was replaced, we hired an independent HVAC contractor to inspect the repairs. Concerns identified included oversized equipment, improperly sized line sets, excessive humidity/condensation, and unbalanced airflow. CTA ultimately replaced the equipment in July 2026 with a 2-ton and 4-ton two-stage configuration--the same tonnage configuration our home had before CTA sold us two 4-ton systems. We continue to experience humidity above 55% and concerns involving poorly sealed/pinched or damaged ductwork, degraded mastic, equipment installation, furnace exhaust venting, and a fresh-air intake connected to the supply plenum. We have documentation to support our experience. What makes this especially disappointing is CTA's written marketing guarantees. Its "No Risk Guarantee" stated there was "0 risk" in choosing CTA. Its "No Excuses" Guarantee stated that if the system did not perform to specifications, "we will fix it or refund your money. No Excuses." Its "No Questions" Money Back Guarantee stated CTA would "cheerfully refund 100% of your investment. No questions, no hassles" if a customer was not completely satisfied with system performance. CTA also advertised a one-year "test drive" stating it would correct problems if a customer was not 100% satisfied with the work, service, equipment, or experience. If it could not correct the problem to manufacturer specifications, it stated it would remove the equipment and return 100% of the customer's investment. Our refund discussions were very different from what we expected. During a text exchange on 7/31/26, CTA owner Jason Stom stated he had been willing to "give you your money back as you both have requested." After we said that if warranty repairs were not completed while waiting for his attorney to draft a release, we would file complaints with regulators and consumer review websites, his response was: "The release will always be contingent on non-disparagement." Our requested resolution has been consistent with what we understood CTA's own guarantees to promise: remove the equipment and ductwork, refund the money we paid, and address the property damage we believe resulted from the installation. CTA instead offered us $15,000 to resolve the dispute and required we keep the settlement confidential and remove or not make any public statements. We rejected that proposal. As of Sept 1st, it remains unresolved. Prospective customers should compare our experience with CTA's advertised guarantees and decide how much weight to give them. My advice to homeowners: save advertisements, guarantees, texts, and emails; obtain an independent load calculation; get equipment and ductwork specifications in writing; verify city permits were pulled; photograph installation; and obtain an independent HVAC inspection. We relied on a company advertising "0 risk," "No Excuses,
