We paid Clear the Air (CTA) approximately $47,840 in August 2025 for two new HVAC systems and related work. Our goals included improving humidity and comfort. We were sold two approximately 4-ton variable-speed Goodman/Daikin Fit systems and told they would help maintain indoor humidity around 45-50% and significantly reduce our electricity bills. Instead, we experienced persistent humidity, airflow, and comfort problems. During the winter, we learned our furnaces, which required propane configuration, had not initially been properly converted. Conversion kits were installed after we experienced furnace problems. We have no documentation showing the furnaces were later evaluated for possible damage from this issue. By June 2026, we had significant condensation and moisture around HVAC equipment and ductwork, deteriorated/separated duct seals, and other ductwork problems. Water associated with these issues damaged ceilings and drywall. CTA subsequently replaced most of the ductwork and plenums. Independent HVAC contractors evaluated the work. Concerns identified included oversized equipment, improperly sized line sets, excessive humidity/condensation, and unbalanced airflow. CTA ultimately replaced the equipment in July 2026 with a 2-ton and 4-ton two-stage configuration--the same tonnage configuration our home had before CTA sold us two approximately 4-ton systems. We continue to experience humidity above 55%, averaging over 60% most days, along with concerns involving poorly sealed/pinched or damaged ductwork, degraded mastic, equipment installation, furnace exhaust venting, and a fresh-air intake connected to the supply plenum. We have photographs, invoices, inspection findings, correspondence, and text messages documenting our experience. What makes this especially disappointing is CTA's written marketing guarantees. Its "No Risk Guarantee" stated there was "0 risk" in choosing Clear the Air. Its "No Excuses" Guarantee stated that if the system did not perform to specifications, "we will fix it or refund your money. No Excuses." Its "No Questions" Money Back Guarantee stated CTA would "cheerfully refund 100% of your investment. No questions, no hassles" if a customer was not completely satisfied with system performance. CTA also advertised a one-year "test drive" stating it would correct problems if a customer was not 100% satisfied with the work, service, equipment, or experience. If it could not correct the problem to manufacturer specifications, it stated it would remove the equipment and return 100% of the customer's investment. Our refund discussions were very different from what we expected. During a text exchange, CTA owner Jason Stom stated he had been willing to "give you your money back as you both have requested." but "The release will always be contingent on non-disparagement." We did not agree to that condition. Our requested resolution has been straightforward: remove the HVAC equipment and ductwork, refund the money we paid, and address the property damage we believe resulted from the installation. CTA subsequently offered us $15,000 to resolve the dispute. We rejected it because it did not provide the resolution we requested and, in our view, did not reflect CTA's advertised guarantees. As of September 1, 2026, the dispute remains unresolved. Prospective customers should compare our experience with CTA's advertised guarantees and decide for themselves how much weight to give them. My advice to homeowners: save advertisements, guarantees, texts, and emails; obtain an independent load calculation; get equipment and ductwork specifications in writing; verify permits and inspections; photograph the installation; and obtain an independent inspection. We relied on a company advertising "0 risk," "No Excuses," and a 100% money-back guarantee. Our experience did not match what we understood those promises to mean. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Clear the Air. read more

I just had my Furnace and coils replaced from Clear the Air and I am over whelmingly HAPPY! I got 6 estimates from several companies in my area (Galveston County). Robert Britt came to my house and he looked at what needed to be done and gave me several options that I could choose to rectify the problem. This young man is very nice, polite, and knowledgeable! He immediately sent me detailed invoices for different units and kept in contact to answer any and all of my questions. Clear the Air was the most affordable and everything that needed to be done was included in the quote- there were no extra suprise cost! I felt very comfortable with my decision to use them. They were able to squeeze me immediately and I had Raul and Roy Gonzales (from Clear the Air) come to my house to do the installation. These two men are professionals and perfectionist in every way. They made sure they were cautious not to damage anything in my home. They made sure they explained everything to me and what they were going to do. Now my a/c and furance units are up to code and working Perfectly! Everything is FANTASTIC! I am ready to face the winter colds as well as the summer Heat. After having my AC checked I paid to have some additional duct work installed. The technician schedule the work before he left the house for the following Thursday afternoon. At 5 p.m. I called to find out where they were. I was given a typical run around answer. I pointed out that I considered anything after 5 p.m. the evening. More run around followed. No one ever called to tell me when or if they were coming. They finally showed up just before 6. Customer care is definitely not their strong point. read more

I called them over when my AC was not blowing cold air. The tech did some investigation and told me my lineset was leaking and needed replaced, and also my coil was leaking and needed replacing. He quoted $1,300 for new lineset and $3,000 for new coil. He also sent me a quote for new outside condensing unit for another $3,700, because he said if we're replacing the lineset and coil, we "might as well" replace the outside unit with it. This seemed like a lot, so I figured we should get a 2nd opinion. I got another company to come take a look, and they said there was NOTHING wrong with our lineset or outside condensing unit, that only our coil was leaking and that it was COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! So the many thousands quoted by Clear the Air for 3 separate repairs, turned into 1 repair covered under warranty. We paid the 2nd company only labor charges for the new coil. It has been 3 years since this occurred, and AC has worked fine! No issues since. And all the routine inspections since have shown that our lineset and outside unit is working fine. I never bothered to post a review when this happened, because I didn't want to blame a whole company for 1 bad employee. But I did share my experience in a neighborhood group recently, and a supervisor replied to my comment saying I was not telling the story honestly and basically called me a liar. So clearly it is not just one bad employee, and they all cover for each other. read more

We are customers for years and they canceled our appointment, we didn't know. When we called to asked them what happened, they responded they canceled by mistake and that we can make an appointment a month or two from the original date. Since they canceled by mistake, they should have given us an earlier date, not professional at all. read more

Absolutely outstanding. We had an issue with the guest room and the kid's room temperatures were very different despite being on the same HVAC zone. Terrible scam artists. Installed a new ac unit without getting permits or inspections. Much to my shock after paying over 22k I have had nothing but problems. They did not run a new drain line for the new unit causing my ceiling to cave in 3 times so far. I have had uncountable service calls for water problems which they refuse to correct. They are trying to charge me more to correct their mistakes. I am going to file on them in court as this is my only option now. read more

I purchased my replacement system from Clear the Air with a 10 year warranty. Well, my warranty just ran out so I will now post my review. With in a year the system stopped cooling and they sent out a Tech that I saw add Freon to the system. He then went to the attic and came down saying my thermostat was going out and needed to be replaced and it would cost $400 plus labor as it was not covered under the warranty. I said we would wait until it totally crashed. I then found an exact replacement on the internet for $100. It's been 9 years and still working fine without being replaced. They have come out numerous times in the ten year warranty period and each time they want to argue about my warranty. I have to get out my purchase receipt before they stop arguing about it. Then they go into their sales pitch trying to sell more services I wouldn't take for free from them. It took 4 service calls to find a Freon leak in the condenser before they finally fixed it. Guess what. Each call they tried to claim it was not in warranty. One Tech even tried to charge me a " $100 warranty fee." After I told him we would take that up with my lawyer, he said he would waive the fee. I am so glad my warranty has expired so I do have to call these people anymore. read more

Way overpriced! They came out to install our Nest thermostat and replaced a broken fuse---charged us $560. The technician never quoted us before beginning his work and but now lied said he did. If we knew he was charging $300 for a fuse that costs max $10 we wouldn't have him done the service. This company is not only dishonest but now I doubt their expertise as well. They replaced a broken thermostat and left us with no AC for en entire day without realizing it! We paid for your expertise and we expected that you knew a broken thermostat when seeing one! We ended up having to call a different company, who came out, diagnosed the problem and fixed it...and only for $40! And this company also confirmed that he could buy a box of those fuses for $5! read more

They are very overpriced, shop elsewhere. My AC condenser broke at the same time my neighbor's identical unit in an identical townhouse broke. I used Clear the Air and paid $3000 for a new condenser, labor and everything else. My neighbor used someone else and paid $800 less! I feel pretty stupid. I did get my problem fixed about one day faster than my neighbor, but that is not worth $800 to me. read more

Terrible sales practices and false advertising. Beware of signing up for any service membership plans...they will charge you for each a/c unit you have for everything. Apparently, there is a difference between a diagnostic service charge (the reason most people will call an a/c company to come out in the first place), and the maintenance inspection service calls that are included in the membership plans. Also, they claim a discount on services/parts if you choose a membership plan, but it is not evident on the invoice, they could be charging you 15% more and telling you that they have given you a 15% discount read more

I called around midnight and Tim was willing to come out around 3am. We ended up having him come at 10 the next morning and by the end of the day we had a brand new unit installed. We had a problem with our AC not cooling the house and as anyone knows, it is HOT here in south Texas. We called Clear the Air after hours on a Tuesday evening and they sent Tony out the next morning. We were happy that they could deal with us on such short notice; I was expecting several days of sweltering, waiting for an appointment. Tony quickly identified the problem, replaced the capacitor and had our system working again in no time. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because I have no idea about cost for parts and labor on something like this so not sure if we got the best price. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. For repair service they do not charge the normal and fair materials plus labor. My tech looked at the problem and showed me it would be 604$. The problem was a control board. I thought O. K. 400$ for board and 200 for service is steep, but I need air! Tech. 1 was there 45 minutes. The board was ordered and my board was jumped out to run all the time so at least I would be cool. Tech 2 returned 2 days later and installed new board in 15 minutes. I got paperwork for board and looked up price on the internet (124$) S0, 124$ board (they probably got cheaper) and 1.5 hr tech service does not equal 604$ I called the company and they were nice but basically they told me they charge what they charge. These folks use very deceptive pricing practices to overcharge for their work There are plenty of good contractors that will itemize your repair bill so you know what the work is costing you. Save some money and call them. read more

This is an update to my last comments. As you know, I refused to pay $470 for cleaning and purging the drain line. The next company that came, cleared the line in a few minutes, checked out the system, for under $100. Your company is overcharging your customers, and I don't recommend it to anyone. Came home on a hot June evening to an AC unit that was not cooling my house properly. My inside temp went from 78 to 81 in an hour's time. That's an emergency in my book. I called Clear The Air about 9 p.m. on a Monday night. Andrew the technician was there before 10. He diagnosed the problem quickly, explained all my options in detail, and had the work completed in about an hour's time. Andrew was extremely polite, professional, and was more than happy to answer all my questions in detail along the way. It wasn't a cheap repair ($841), but I felt like I received good value and excellent service in an emergency situation. From my first phone call until the repair was complete took just over two hours. Very happy with Clear The Air. My AC unit is 11 years old, and I'll be needing a new unit fairly soon. After the service I received, I'll be calling them again - but hopefully not TOO soon. read more

Very poor customer service. When we bought our home in 2015, we used them to install brand new high efficiency AC units (2 in number) and complete new duct work. Very expensive! There were way too many problems with the install - for the most part, they addressed them initially. However, for the past two years, the service dramatically deteriorated. Even if the work is related to original install, they will not address them without charging - even with an annual service plan we subscribe to. Way overpriced as well! read more

Having your A/C go out is never a good feeling, especially when the summer months approach. I called Clear The Air around noon on a Thursday and had a technician come out to my house by 3pm. Andrew quickly identified the problem and had a solution and a reasonable quote for me within 30 minutes. I had my A/C installed by Monday and am completely satisfied. The work crew was clean and efficient. After the work was performed they sent out a complementary inspection to ensure everything was working properly. This review is only for the diagnostics test I had today. They will be doing the install on 7/14/14 and I will try to review the install and whether or not my issue was resolved. I absolutely love the use of technology with this company!! Matt came out this morning and every quote was sent via email so I was able to review even before we verbally discussed later. They also emailed the complete name of who my technician would be for the next day and then another email to let me know this morning when he would be at the house. He was VERY prompt! They gave me a window of between 8-10 and he was there right at 8:00. After his assessment of the condenser and furnace, he concluded my issue was with the furnace in the attic. No surprise that that was the actual issue because the thing is from 1994! Anyway, yesterday I had another company come out which was the company I had used in 2006 to install a new condenser outside. That company quoted me for what they thought were 2 issues, the 1st being necessity & the 2nd being optional but recommended. I received a quote of 2140.00 to replace a compressor that was under warranty and then another quote of 6800.00 for condenser & evaporator coil replacement. That company had tested the compressor & claimed it was running at 27.5 amps & pumping 600PSI of freon. That tech also was so quick going into the attic that my daughter, who was the person home while the tech was there, didn't even see him go into the attic. She said he appeared angry but it was in the afternoon and heat outside at 93 so I think I would be too! Matt from Clear the Air thoroughly checked in the attic and said there were wires that were cut/chewed (who knows!) and one important one that was completely missing. With that said, he informed me that the AC would not run at all without the furnace sending electrical current to the condenser. The AC was working prior to the other company coming yesterday, it was just running at 80 and was blowing warm air. What the heck?! Then I told Matt what the other company diagnosed above and he tested the compressor by manually running it & it tested at 16.5 amps and working fine. Anyway, researched the $ online of the furnace he suggested and the total quote seems very reasonable. Thanks Matt! read more

Our 13 year old unit wasn't operating well. We would set the thermostat to 74 but it would get up to 80 in our home during the day and our unit was running 24/7. After dealing with a couple of other businesses we called Justin from Clean the Air to give us a proposal for a new system. He took the time to discuss our options, explained the differences, and gave us up front pricing. He saved us money and was able to have the new system installed 2 days later. The install took 6 hours and within 2 hours of completion our home was cooling to the set temperature. The installation team was fast, thorough, and very conscientious of protecting our home from damage. The quality check technician, Pete, was great, as are their customer service people in the office. We needed a next-day ac service and Clear the Air was able to accommodate by 8am the following day. I received an email about 35 minutes prior to my technician's arrival. Pete was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what we needed. He was also very friendly. The inspection report was thorough and easy to understand. Clear the Air offers maintenance packages that we're sure to take advantage of. I also appreciated the electronic correspondence....emailed arrival info with Pete's name and picture, inspection report and invoice. This made it easy for my records and sharing. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! One of our ac units went out so I looked online for a reputable company and chose this please because of their ratings. Well that was mistake #1! A 5 star experience was definitely not what I had when using them. The first time a technician came out he diagnosed that our control board was bad and needed replacing. So we replaced it. Well the ac ran for about 6 hours. I called the company. They said to send a tech out to look at it there would be a service fee of over 100$! (just to look at what they had previously repaired). The woman on the phone recommended I change out all of the filters and turn off the until for 24 hours to see if it would turn back on. It did not. When I called again she said it sounded like and electrical problem and that I probably needed an electrician to come look at it. So I had an electrician come out. He changed out the breaker but the until never came back on. So I called again. This time we had 2 units out and a different tech came to look. He replaced a part on the second unit but said that the 1st one (the one with the ew 800$ control board) was shot and needed to be replaced. He gave me a quote that seemed high so I decided to get a second quote from another company. The second company came out the next morning and said the unit was old but fine. That the control board had been improperly installed and needed to be fixed. So i told them thank you and called clear the air again.... The first tech came back out for the job and told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with his work that it was yet another part that needed replacing. I asked him to please double check that a second opinion had said it didn't look right. Being that I had already paid this company over 1,000$ and with their high ratings I expected better service on a job that they had just done. nearly 2 months of back and forth with them I finally called the second company to just come and fix it. I had to shell out another 800$ to pay them. I saved the control board and called clear the air for a refund and they refused. I explained my situation over and over and how I had given them many chances to redeem themselves but you can only go so long without ac and only pay so much before reverting to someone else. I will NEVER use this company again. There is very poor customer service on the tech side and the office side. I was told that a manager would call me but never received a call. I spoke to the customer service girl more than once and never got anywhere with her. I have their control board and can't even get a refund for that. I strongly advise thinking twice before doing business with this shady company! read more
