Very poor customer service, its like they didn't want my money. I was in the market to purchase and have installed a Lennox PureAir system installed in my home. Bob's AC was authorized dealer and located in League City where I live. I called up Bobs to come out and do an estimate for purchase and installation. A person by the name of Lee came out. Upon arrival he immediately started to downplay the Lennox PureAir and insisted upon an Air Scrubber. I have done extensive research into all the systems including air scrubbers and was sure Lennox PureAir was the right fit for me. Lee continued to downplay the Lennox and I explained that I want to avoid "Ozone" and most air scrubbers produce Ozone and I referred to the recent EPA report on Air Scrubber Ozone emissions in the home and effects on long term health. He replied "I would never believe what the EPA says". He proceeded to go up into the attic and look at the unit and stated "we will need to lift the unit three inches off the ground" to install the Lennox and then stated that to install an Air Scrubber they would need to move the Flute to install the Air Scrubber, having worked in Construction my whole life I stated the flute comes off at the base and takes a few minutes to undo to put in the unit. He looked at my unit for less then a minute and took no measurements or pictures. Lee stated that he would have the quotes to my email within a few hours. I waited a few hours and received no email. I then proceeded to call Bobs and told the Rep that I hadn't received a quote offer yet and she stated she would get in contact with Lee and then contact me back. Another few hours went by and I heard nothing, so right before closing I call again and the Rep stated "he still hasn't contacted you" I said no and she said let me get him on the phone. Lee proceeded to answer the phone and from his tone I could tell he was not in a good mood. I asked about the quote and stated that he would have an email for me by tomorrow. He also gave me a quote over the phone. To have the Lennox Pure Air installed it would be $2,900 and the Air Scrubber would be $1,900. I asked if the email would have an itemization of how they got to that price he said "no". I stated that Lennox website sells the Lennox Pure Air for $900 and he stated that its the construction cost that is making the price high. I asked "what kind of construction needs to be done to the house" he then replied "I already explained that to you". I then stated "I'm confused as to what construction needs to be done, I can hire out a contractor to do the construction work". He stated again "Like I said I already explained it". I then asked nicely "can you please explain it again because I'm confused". He stated "I don't like your questions". I then replied "If you were going to have $2,000 in alterations to your house you would want to know what those alterations were" and Lee replied "I would never ask those questions I would trust the professional to get the job done" and he had a very angry tone when he said it, I replied "I didn't mean to make you angry I'm just trying to make an informed decision" and he respond "I'm just being frank and that's how I work". As a home owner and investor I was shocked that he would respond in the manner that he did. I was ready to get work started immediately and had the funds ready to go to get it done. Having read the reviews here on Google I was sure that this company was professional, however my experience with Lee was by far the worst professionalism I have ever experienced. I didn't want to give up on Bob's thinking maybe Lee is the exception and management would step in and give me the details so I can make an informed decision. I left a message for Randy to call me back who is a manager that I was referred to speak about the job. I never got a return call after a week and still no written estimate or quote. I took a day off from work to have them come out and it was all for nothing. I was more then ready to pay for the service and my only expectation was to inform me what alterations was going to be made to the house, I don't think that is too much to ask for. The owner stated on a Google review that they couldn't "meet my expectations", no one in management ever called me to speak about it and I never gave any expectations to Lee, I simply asked one question, "what alterations will be made to the house", was more then willing to pay for the service. read more

Bob's did a great job diagnosing my issue. Sadly, my outside unit needed to be replaced. I was impressed with the original technician that came out to diagnose the issue and also with the "closer" who came out later in the day to give me a full price breakdown. Being that it was mid-August and the AC was not cooling at all, they got me on the schedule for the very next day. I really appreciated that. The crew that showed up was right on time and they were professional, respectful and completed the job in record time. I had cold AC flowing by 3:00pm! The only negative I can report is that I would have thought the $89 diagnostic fee would have been applied to the service and/or equipment that I purchased. But I guess for such a quick and successful resolution, that is a minor issue. read more

Bob's was the last company to perform service on our air conditioning unit before we purchased our house. The unit failed, and we discovered that Bob's did something with the wiring to deliberately bypass a safety mechanism that would have shut down our unit before it broke. Our compressor overheated, and we needed a new motor, thanks to Bob's. I highly recommend Bob's if you want your air conditioning unit's motor to short out and the compressor to overheat, and if you want an unsafe situation where wires are stuffed into the side of the unit and not connected. read more

Our old AC evaporator coil (inside) developed a slow leak so we had a different company provide an estimate and options since it used the old freon type. We decided to have Bob's AC do the same and were much happier with their options, Rheem products, and the detailed parts and labor breakdown. They even adjusted their bid to beat the first company. The first company was pushy yet vague. The office staff at Bob's was extremely helpful over the phone with every step, including financing. The installation crew was very professional and the work quality was the best I've seen. They were respectful, thorough, and cleaned up all messes. This past week I was on a tight time line to head out of town and Bob's took advantage of the situation charging excessively. My condenser motor was on its last legs. Other than that, the unit is in great condition. Tech came out and had a universal replacement with him. The other option was to "order the Rheem" and wait till 'sometime next week' for it. I told him to go ahead and use the one on hand bc nothing but hotter weather is on tap. My mistake was not asking for the price. The family business and I have dealt with Bob's since they were a 2 horse operation in the late 70's and the price was always pretty fair. With the history I trusted them and getting a hard $$ price up front slipped my mind. [Yah. Oops, my fault.] As an afterthought this evening, taking the PN and serial # of the old one, I looked on the net. Found many listings for the universals, as well as the factory Rheem motor. As I thought, its the typical $75-$100ish motor [retail] available almost everywhere. Replacement took about an hour. The bill for this worked out to a buck over $500. Guess it goes to show a long history doesn't equal a $ trust you can count on. Kind of disappointed. C'est la vie. :/ read more

Bob"s Air Conditioning in League City is an absolute rip off. I was quoted a price, by their technician Scott, of $512.00 to solder a pinhole in a piece of copper tubing on the compressor (outside).Now keep in mind, this is a procedure that takes 2 minutes or less to preform. How high is up for you, Bob's AC? There is a lot more to this story but bottom line is Bob AC is charging excessively when they think they have you by the _alls. I feel sorry for the elderly that this is probably happening to. Shame on you Bob's AC. Yes, you made $204.00 off me today, ($99.00 service call and $105.00 for supposedly 3 lbs. of Freon) but remember, what goes around, comes around and you won't be coming around my properties ever again. read more

We bought a Lennox a/c unit from Bob's air conditioning. We were satisfied with their service until recently. Our unit stopped cooling altogether about two weeks ago. The technician came out and said we needed a computer card to fix it. He said he was going to check if they had one in the warehouse, never called us back and so I called them that Monday to see if they had a replacement, they did not and after checking most of that week was told that one had arrived. We arranged to have a tech come out the following Friday. He did come out and after working for awhile, said that now we need a new blower motor and again would check in the warehouse. My husband specifically asked him to let us know if they had one, again no return call so we called the office and was told that they would have one on Monday so here we go on the same old merry go round. We are now two weeks without an air conditioner for the main part of the house. We are sick and tired of the lousy service (no return calls, no parts in the warehouse) and considering that they were the ones who sold us the unit, you get the impression that you bought it so who cares now. read more

We have been a customer of Bob's a/c for over 20 years. The first 15 years they were 5 star. Something has happened to them in the last few years (maybe new owner?), but we have had to replace our downstairs a/c twice in the last few years, the last time they sold us an extended warranty (that should have given us a clue they can't keep their equipment working). They installed mini split level a/c's in our garage apts that cost just about 50% of their price each year just to keep working. We stayed with them out of loyalty, but not any more. A new $2600.00 mini split that they installed to replace one that had been installed a few years earlier, went out again (surprise surprise 2 months after warranty expired). Bob's a/c came out, put freon in and said they'd come back and put dye in to see where there was a leak. Great! Came back last week, ran test, said it would be $270 now and $270 when part came in......OK. We later get an email saying the price is an additional $900+. Now the "trust us, we've been in business over 40 years" comes in to play when my husband questions why the price increase? and was told they are a money making business and need to make a profit!!! When my husband told him he was upset about the price, the guy said they "would not be doing business with us any more" Yikes!!!!! I could still stomache them to maintain the equipment they installed, even though I thought we had a good enough relationship with them, they would have said don't buy this unit it's crap and we'll be out here 2 or 3 times a year just to keep em running, but to triple the price we were told, then say "hey we don't need or want your business" is ENOUGH! We too are self employed and would never treat a customer like that. For those of you who still get what you feel is good customer service from Bob's a/c.....I wish you luck, you're gonna need it. For those of you in our boat, it's like a tree with branches, I'm telling 10 people and if each of those people tell 10 people and so on, maybe Bobs a/c will become reputable again and not one of those a/c companies you see profiled on an investigative reports show. read more
