After I had to find a new stylist, I panicked, I had to find someone that would listen to my opinion know what styles, colors, and cuts I like and add their input. I want to be able to trust my stylist to give me what I want, but also add in their expertise when giving me updated looks. A friend recommended Ryan Rumpel. I took a chance and I am so happy I did. Ryan is in a small salon in Buckhead. The location is great! Ryan told me it might be difficult to find, so he gave me detailed directions. My "directionally challenged" self actually found it the fist time. NICE! I walked up the staircase into a small but charming salon. Ryan was still with a client but greeted me immediately and asked me to have a seat and relax while I waited. Ryan was finished with his other client within 5 minutes, which was exactly on time for my set appointment. Ryan immediately sat down and started asking me what I was looking for in a cut and color. I showed him several pictures of hair styles and colors I liked, but told him I wanted to be able to give him the trust to pick the best option for my face structure & skin tone. Ryan listened to everything I told him about what I knew I liked and didn't like when it came to hair styles. He was detailed and made me aware of all costs so that I was able to know what I was going to get and not have "sticker shock". I let Ryan take the lead with choosing my color and I am so happy I did. My cut and color came are perfect!!! I am so happy Ryan was recommended to me. I am now his faithful client. Just a few extra notes I think are great... Not that the big salons aren't great, but I love the attention I get from a small salon with a few stylists. Your stylist can become like family when you are with them for years, so I need to be able to trust my stylist as well as be able to talk to them. Ryan chatted about his life and family and I discussed my life stories...I mean aren't hairstylists basically therapists that make you look better? I would highly recommend Ryan for women and men. He had a male client, that I believe is also a friend that came in for a quick haircut. Ryan was able to fit him in last minute and they discussed different men's styles. I actually enjoyed listening to the different men's hair styles...I learned something new. So, ok guys, if you're bald you won't want to go here...but if you have hair, Ryan is your guy! Ladies, trust me, Ryan is an amazing stylist and also a genuine person that loves what he does. He knows hair, knows styles, trends and what to do toile his clients look their best! This is a small salon with a couple stylists doing their own thing. Prices are beyond low...I seriously laughed when he told me the cost for my cut and color, I actually told him "you're kidding, right? That's way too cheap", but Ryan was quick to say that he charges for services. I know exactly what that means, I'm not paying for the overhead and marketing of a large salon, I am paying the stylist for their services. That to me is what I want! There has definitely been some turnover at CVS - the first three times I went there I had to get a new stylist because the one before had left. After the third time that happened, I started going to the owner, Carter, and I finally found my perfect match! He understands exactly what I am looking for and takes the time to make sure my finished product looks fabulous. The salon itself is small and there are only about 4-5 patrons in there at a time, which is nice if you are looking for a calm, relaxing day at the salon. I believe they have soft drinks, water, and wine, but it is not regularly offered so maybe they don't do that anymore. They also have the comfortable hair-washing sinks which don't require you to snap your neck in two to have your color washed out. Kimberly also does a great job of massaging your scalp and giving you a nice relaxing rinse. I also love that they do not aggressively push hair products on you as you are trying to check out. The prices are on par for other salons that I have visited. I will always suggest CVS to anyone looking for a new salon!

Some of you may be scoffing at that number thinking it's child's play. You guys? I don't even KNOW 80 people. It's the most "likes" I've ever gotten. Ex-boyfriends from high school came out of the woodwork to comment on it. The person behind me on a plane (coach mind you, where people are notoriously cranky) tapped me on the shoulder and popped their head into the aisle to ask me about my hair. I went back to work last week and former students, new students, parents, teacher friends, my administration all complimented me on the fabulousness that is my hair. I really wanted to cut it all off - a "choppy bob" length. Jeff nodded knowingly and I felt completely at ease. Ladies can get anxious prior to losing a lot of length - not me, because I completely trust Jeff. "Chop it off! Chop it alllll off!" (It was particularly muggy that day). He laughed and said in due time. My shampooing was particularly luxurious. And the cut came and I looked up and I could cry I was so pleased. That evening I played with it and bounced it around and took my hair cut out. Oohs and aaahs ensued from friends and enemies alike. What can I say? The man is magic. He offers everything you could possibly want (the following list is not exhaustive): choppy bobs, funky colors (and normal ones too), extensions, aggressive bangs, comraderie and the desire to make you look as good and feel as awesome as possible. I have…read morethick, coarse hair that is very unforgiving when cut poorly, but Eric has gotten it to a place where it looks better than it ever has and is less time-consuming to manage than it ever has been. Eric has an extraordinary eye for the way hair works, and at every appointment takes time to assess how my hair has grown out, what's working, and what's not. Where other hair stylists have pretty much just done exactly what I asked them to do (whether or not it actually makes sense), Eric doesn't hesitate to clarify any misconceptions I may have or to suggest smarter ways to achieve the result I'm seeking. As a result, since going to Eric for the first time I've been far happier with my hair than I've ever been and even get unexpected compliments from random strangers. If you're looking for a new hair stylist, do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Eric. You'll be thrilled with the results.

Initially, I'd used a Groupon and gotten a relaxer and one of the best haircuts I ever had! Six months later, I returned for a relaxer, cut and color. I asked if semi-permanent color would be used because my hair grade is pretty fine to begin with and it's safer. Toby said a demi would be fine and that he would even use a permanent color if he'd been doing my hair the whole time because it would be healthy enough. Needless to say, you could practically see my scalp afterwards. I went home and cried! In fairness, my hair wasn't in the best condition to begin with. But that is further evidence of why I think a demi was bad advice. I've since ditched relaxers, I eat better, take supplements and I'm back on my way to glorious locks again.. The Tobanizer still gives the best haircuts. He is truly gifted in this area. But I will not return.

I had a film shoot the next day and needed my locs retwisted. I called in and the owner answered, asked if the loctitian could squeeze me in. She was finishing her last client and decided to take me. I judge stylists based on their shampoo first (everyone needs to know how to do a thorough, quick, mess-free shampoo) and it was wonderful. She retwisted my hair quickly, and styled my hair in a way that complimented my head shape. In addition to that, my retwist lasted for a WHOLE. MONTH. it was amazing!
