80. That's the number of "likes" that I got when I posted a video of me showing off my new style by the incredimazing Jeff Manzi. Some of you may be scoffing at that number thinking it's child's play. You guys? I don't even KNOW 80 people. It's the most "likes" I've ever gotten. Ex-boyfriends from high school came out of the woodwork to comment on it. The person behind me on a plane (coach mind you, where people are notoriously cranky) tapped me on the shoulder and popped their head into the aisle to ask me about my hair. I went back to work last week and former students, new students, parents, teacher friends, my administration all complimented me on the fabulousness that is my hair. I really wanted to cut it all off - a "choppy bob" length. Jeff nodded knowingly and I felt completely at ease. Ladies can get anxious prior to losing a lot of length - not me, because I completely trust Jeff. "Chop it off! Chop it alllll off!" (It was particularly muggy that day). He laughed and said in due time. My shampooing was particularly luxurious. And the cut came and I looked up and I could cry I was so pleased. That evening I played with it and bounced it around and took my hair cut out. Oohs and aaahs ensued from friends and enemies alike. What can I say? The man is magic. He offers everything you could possibly want (the following list is not exhaustive): choppy bobs, funky colors (and normal ones too), extensions, aggressive bangs, comraderie and the desire to make you look as good and feel as awesome as possible. I have natural blonde hair and am very particular about not having brassiness in it. I moved to the Atlanta area over 3 years ago and tried SEVERAL different hair stylists. None of them seemed to "get" blonde hair. Eventually I gave up on getting highlights all together, since they seemed to be a waste of money Finally a friend (with naturally blonde hair as well) recommended Steven Fairchild and I LOVE HIM! He is naturally wonderful at what he does, and every time I walk out of the salon after he does my hair, I feel fabulous and get so many compliments. He's always giving me tips on how to care for it, and I'm so comfortable with his judgment and expertise. my highlights, lowlights and haircut always look great! He always listens to what I want, and gives me an honest opinion and the pros and cons of my ideas. As long as Steven Fairchild works in Atlanta, no one else will ever touch my hair! Where Devy goes, I shall follow...she has moved to a new home folks! She has been cutting my hair for over 10+ years now and through hell or high-water, I will go to her. She listens carefully to your needs and has a great eye to match your cut to your face shape. My hair is shedding like cray after the birth of my daughter and me freaking out, text her for a last minute appointment which she happily checked for me and got back in the time that she said that she would. She's a wonderful person who is a talented hairstylist and friend. The parking lot is awful and small...doesn't help if the cars parked is not within lanes. read more

I think my quality of life has improved a few notches since seeing Devy Barnes. I trust her wholly to cut, color and style my hair into anything she recommends and I always love the result. I have thick hair which I keep short, and I like to change styles or color every few months. But I like a stylist who will give me ideas and keep it creative. Since I moved to Atlanta I have been seeing Devy Barnes and I know she will always have the right idea. She perfectly crafts a look that matches both my personality and my face, guides me strongly in all decisions and spends time before and after the cut sending me cut and color ideas and checking in. Everything she does is extremely high quality, every detail is accounted for and the cuts last. I can say from personal experience that Steven is the most talented and accommodating stylist/ colorist I have ever gone to. I have been a client of Stevens for almost 5 years, he took my hair from black to chocolate brown, and it has never been healthier. Time and time again Steven goes above and beyond for his clients. It was a hot and humid night. The bartender, whose curly hair seemed a lot like mine--but somehow looked great, while mine was a frizzy mess--gave me her stylist's name: Katie at Blonde. Just like that, I had a new stylist before I'd even finished moving here. That was close to two years ago, and very selfishly, I hope Katie will never leave. I've never had any trouble getting an appointment and have rarely waited long enough to even sit down in the reception area (max about 5 minutes). Normally I'm offered a nice cup of coffee and off we go with a much-needed trim. There's no waiting around after the shampoo, either. I have a head full of long, cowlick-ridden hair and am not the type to take a lot of time styling it, but somehow Katie does a "roll out of bed looking great" cut that keeps looking great as it grows out, whether I wear it curly or straighten it. I've seen other clients leave looking very happy with fancier styles and lovely colors, too. She's always willing to make an adjustment if needed (rarely) and do a bang trim between appointments. Being low-maintenance, I'm not exactly a gold mine for any stylist, but I appreciate the graciousness with which I'm always treated at Blonde, and that Katie somehow remembers our conversations as if they happened last week. So, on the big things: 5 stars, on the little things: 5 stars. The only thing that could make my experience better is perhaps moving the salon to East Atlanta. read more

I had an appointment with Steven Fairchild today, 19 Feb 2015 @4p. I sent him a text several hours earlier that I might need to reschedule. Shortly after, I sent another text that I had another option and that I would try to make the 4p and TO NOT GIVE UP MY 4p appointment. I received a text from Steven around 3:20p that he had given my 4p appointment to another client that was on his waiting list. I had already rearranged my afternoon work schedule to make the 4p appointment. It is poor business practice on his part. You would think he would have contacted me (or any client) first to confirm whether or not I would make the appointment versus him just taking it upon himself to cancel it. read more

My Stylist moved again!!! Attention People!! Jeff Manzi has moved salons! I really like his new location! The parking is better (so much closer), the layout is better, he is happier! And a happy stylist cuts happy hair! Who's my stylist? Jeffrey Joseph Manzi, that's who! I have followed him from Vis a Vis to Dragonfly and now to Blonde. He has moved back to Buckhead, but it's not THAT part of Buckhead, so it's okay. Jeff is the only person to have cut my hair in the past 8 years... except for this one time, I wanted bangs before my high school reunion... he was right... it was a bad idea... and I was wrong to go elsewhere. Dammit. He colors, he cuts, he does highlights and extensions... But let's talk about the cut he just gave me... I had my head shaved for charity when I was in Antarctica.... Yeah... that is a completely true sentence. We had to wait for some grow out... and now. F A B U L O U S!! It's going to be super short for awhile, but now it has shape and a little bit of movement and it's the best it can look. And that is what he does. He gives you the best you possible hair wise. And the grow out always looks great... no matter how long you wait between cuts... (and Jeff knows I might wait longer than I should). I love him. You will love him too! read more

I moved to Atlanta 3 years ago and I had an extremely hard time finding a hair stylist who could do quality blonde highlights. I tried many of the top salons in Buckhead and was SO disappointed (to the point where I would fly back to my old colorist in Miami just to get my hair done) until I met Steven Fairchild. He is absolutely amazing and not only is he so talented, but he goes above and beyond to ensure that his clients are taken care of. Alyson does meticulous, fabulous, natural (if that's what you want!) color--perfectly blended highlights, not too golden, not too cool, and placed just right. Once you find someone who knows and understands your hair, your goals, your style, and your lifestyle, you should never let them go. Jeff is my person. I followed him to Blonde Salon and absolutely love the location. No matter what time of day I've been there, I'm always able to navigate traffic easily and there's always a parking space for me. But enough about the location (which is super convenient!) and back to Jeff-- He is phenomenal! He is truly a multi-talented stylist who can do it all. In one visit I got color with balyage and a keratin treatment. I always leave feeling amazing, get tons of compliments and can't stop taking selfies in the car. Jeff Manzi hands down the best cut in Atlanta... I have long straight hair and he gives me perfect body and shape so my hair doesn't lay flat on my head like a mop.
