Would not recommend using this place at all. Went in with my vehicle having a check engine light with codes stating I needed my cat converters replaced....almost $10,000 later still throwing the same code. I left with the same codes and them telling me that's all they could do. read more

Un reputable and Rip-off, They failed to properly bleed the brakes after replacing the master cylinder, causing a brand new master cylinder go bad, and then they wouldn't fix their mistake. When I went to pick up the vehicle, they would not finish the job as what it was agreed to in the initial service order that said that they would bleed the brake system. The only bled at the master cylinder when there was an issue with the whole thing needed to be bled. So by them taking a lot of money and feeling to the job they stole from me and caused $500 with the damage. read more

Prior to purchasing a new one in 2017, I owned the same vehicle for 17 years! For approximately 13 of those 17 years, Larry's serviced that ol' gal. Rewind to Winter 2003-2004, my then car suddenly experienced a massive oil leak (which thankfully didn't blow up my engine). Prior to this incident, I had been taking my vehicle to Bridgestone/Firestone. On that day, I leaned the wrong filter had been installed in my vehicle, thus creating the infamous "ocean o' oil" as my then colleagues called it. I told one of my friend's neighbors and they immediately referred me to Larry's. After inspecting, the technician took the time to explain what had happened, and how to prevent the same from happening in the future when I took it in for an oil change. [Read: They were not assumptive they would be keeping my business, but they did...and for the long haul!] Outside of one oil change, from that day forward, no other shop serviced my vehicle. Way overpriced on labor cost. The owner of this place needs to be reported to the BBB his sky high prices. Been here 3 times and the 3rd time I had checked there prices against others in the area and wow! Not quality but price. He is price gouging!!! Just check for yourself. $900 for a rear issue that wasn't the rear end. It was the u-joint between the driveshafts that I had fixed somewhere else. $258 for a belt tensioner that I googled and replaced myself in 15 minutes. $212 for a idle air valve I replaced in 5 minutes. warning warning beware of this place total scammers. i am a veteran do mechanical work and nuclear work. fix my own cars. i was on the road going south. i broke down with a a bad coil and spark plug. they took in truck had it 5 hours working on it.i'm like wtf i could of had it fixed in a hour. i just ddn't want to deal with it. 5 hours wtf caught meachanic taking breaks and having cigarettes. they put hole in exhaust pipe for a test wtf then put bolt in hole and welded it. wtf. no need to have done that for a coil and spark plug. they took me to look at truck and mechaic explained thiings to me. he said got it fixed. but i could hear a miss fire still. oh it will get you there. really wtf. as i said that he sneakly reach down and hit spark plug wire and it started running better. wtf. i confronted him on the bs traick he pulled and denied anything. pissed i said give me my truck back i'll fix it myself. to realease it was $500 what a joke they repalced some other plugs with used ones. wtf. i said this is bs i want bill lowered way down it still runs bad. they would'nt so stuck paying to get it back. drove it down 3 blocks to part store they coded for me. boom new coil spark plug and found the spark plug wire bad. lucky me i had spare used ones in truck. changed it all my self in 30 min. back on road good. this place are scammers.poor excuse of of a shop. warning do not use them. i wold'nt let them touch a red ryder wagon for kids. read more

I brought my car to get an alignment at Larry's, and a headlight replaced. They charged me over $100 to change my headlight, and now I am at another mechanic getting another headlight replaced and the price is coming back as $20-30. I also got an alignment that never really seemed to be correct, I brought it back to Larry's to check the alignment- they drove my car around the neighborhood and then told me it was fine. I want to trust these guys, but my intuition says- never go back! read more

Spent almost $10,000 with them over the past 6 years. Only once did they fix the problem. I only went to them because they were 1 block away from me and all the good mechanics in my area moved too far from me. 5 months ago brought car in to have one fuel jet replaced and called them a week later to see if they finally finished and Larry told me they blew up my engine. Had my car for almost 4 months only picked up one engine to replace and told me before even in stalling it they informed me upon visually inspecting. that it was no good. While I waited another 2 months they just let it sit. I found an e give for them which they did purchase but car never ran as good as it did when I first brought it in. After bringing the car back 3 times and waited another 2 months Larry told me to call a tow truck and bring it somewhere else, never ever even accepted accountability! If Larry was smart he will try to make this right or I will be seeing them in court. I don't expect a call back! They even show .e pictures of damage that was NOT even my car! read more

Bald tires, Check! Specialty tires, Check! Ice everywhere, Check! Good Prices, Check! These guys helped me get a friend fixed up when all the ice came through Nashville. Her tires were going bald (almost as much as me) and had very little traction on rain let alone snow and ice. These guys not only fixed it up, when slush was on the road and half staffed, but they also had a better price than anyone in town. The "Limited Edition" of this car also came with a specialty tire that is only distributed by 3 companies. Tires that typically cost more each than the specialties on my truck. I called around and they were cheaper than any big box store and it included road hazard. I will totally be heading back to see Larry, Jimmy and all the rest of the guys at Larry's. I started going to Larry's about 6 months ago when I needed a mechanic for my classic cars after my old mechanic retired. I'd been driving by Larry's about twice a day for nearly 10 years and had occasionally noticed old cars parked out front so figured I'd give them a try. So far the work quality has been amazing. Everything from simple oil changes to installing a new wiring harness on my '66 Chevy have been done and done right. For you old car lovers out there, one of the best things about Larry's is that they will do all of the nitpicky things your old car may need. They've done ignition switches, window regulators, carb tweaks, etc. There has never been any upselling or any pressure to do any work. I now take all 3 of our classic cars, my newer car, and my wife's newer car here. Don't let the location (in the middle of the Nolensvill Rd car dealerships) scare you off, this is a great place with people who know what they're doing! read more

I am driving away from Larry's right now, in an '05 Nissan Altima with a brand new brake job. I consider myself only a little car savvy (I've replaced a radiator, spark plugs, oil, battery, and tires myself). I'm new to Nashville and sorely dread auto work in a new city. ...Especially as a girl. (You feel me?) The work took two hours and I chilled with my homeslice in the shop's waiting area (At 8am on Saturday, I had not much desire in exploring the neighborhood). The waiting area is super clean (and I mean super clean- props to whomever takes care of it) with a small tv, a stack of magazines, and a mostly-empty vending machine. The coffee is free! Yay. Also, seemed like a bunch of familiar faces came and went in the time I was there Jim was our front desk guy and he was great: a nice mix of humor, early morning gruffness, professionalism, and low BS. Thanks, Jim! Work seems great though I didn't watch or press for any details. I asked for an estimate for some additional work (rear tire replacement) and got an estimate in 2 mins flat. Oh- and they patched a tire that had a nail in it free of charge. :) Overall, this is a great little shop and I'd certainly go back. I have 9 vehicles and trust this shop and their crew with each and every one of them to include my 1967 Ford Mustang that they took the time to rebuild my entire front end suspension and make this car run like new. A/C work on my other cars always top notch. if your car is dead in the driveway just call and they will set up the tow to the shop and call you with full details on whats up with your car. Believe me whatever issue you have car wise his shop can fix at a damn good hourly rate. if your a cheap ass then look for a mechanic on craigslist!! Update: Our 1967 Ford Mustang fried the whole wiring harness from the ignition forward. They sent a tow truck took the car away and it took a few weeks but they got the car working great. Towed my vehicle, no problem. I TOLD THEM my truck would need a new fuel pump, and that I'd change the filter while I was at it. They quoted me $900. A shop less than a mile away quoted $250. When I picked my truck up I was charged $100 for a "diagnosis"..that's bad business, not to mention the $900 for swapping the pump. read more

I am a car savvy person and understand the workings of a car... not an expert but ... i can get around. Somethings that I like about Larrys are The prices are reasonable, They are quick, they dont waste time on fixing a car. I usually call before i drive in to avoid or reduce wait times. and they never try to sell you things you dont want, or trick you in any way what so ever. Do not take your car here. I took my Acura here and they told me I needed a new head gasket. I talked at first because I thought I just needed new spark plugs because it was misfiring. I figured it had to be done so negotiated 2 payments with the Manager or owner and I told him when I got paid from my job (biweekly paychecks). I came in made the second payment and they said they were going to pull my car around. It took forever then I was summoned to the counter and told that they couldn't find my car. They apologized and said I'm sorry I called over to our overflow lot and they don't have it either. I asked for a refund since they wouldn't give me my car and they said they could not refund me for work that was done. We argued for a bit but I didn't know my rights so I lost my car and they probably sold it at auction. Wonderful crew and great service. Will definitely be going back for any repairs! My air conditioner stopped blowing cold air and I saw Larry's and decided to stop in that weekend and have it looked at. It was an expensive repair and the compressor part was hard to come by, but they were quick to get it repaired for me and get me back behind the wheel. Our jeep was there 3 times for the same problem: check gauge light on, car smokes and overheats. They replaced the radiator Oct 13, Dec 13 could not find problem,Jan 14 replaced spark plugs and various other parts. After being told it was OK to drive with the check gauge light on car was driven out of state, overheated was towed to Larry's and we were told the engine is burned up. We sent over 1000.00 in less than 3 months for nothing. Be cautious if you go there and make sure everything is in writing before you pay read more

Took my car to him & told them exactly what was wrong with it. He called me alter in the day and told me it was something else. He charged me $541 for a part it didn't need. When I picked the car up it was still doing the same thing that I brought it in to be repaired for. He then put the piece on that I asked for (the switch) in the beginning in the dash compartment and charged me the same price as he did for the first part (after removing the first part). The car starts, but when he took the dash out to install the switch, he shorted out something and now I have no dash lights & no tail lights. It blows every fuse I try to put in. The mechanics got grease all over my upholstery, the dash and the doors. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP! read more

I went in saying I heard a banging sound from my car. When they said it was done I drove it less than 1 mile and heard another really bad noise. I ended up having them tow it from my work because the noise was that bad. Not only did they charge me for the tow (without mentioning it before they towed my car) they specifically broke down the charges for me but failed to say they charged me a $75 fee for the tow. I have AAA, they could have told me that they were going to charge me. I just assumed since they didn't fix the noise they would do it for free. And they broke a sensor in the process, I had to pay for that too. Three trips later, my car is maybe fixed. And a $1000 bill. My former mechanic friend who recommended them felt so bad. He called to get the towing fee taken off. No luck. He ended up calling everyone he knew and telling them not to take their car to Larry. That night he received a call from Larry telling him he had 5 or more cancellations, was it his doing? Damn right. Cussing ensued. My friend hung up the phone. All for a $75 towing fee that they never should have charged me for. I hope they learned a lesson or two from that. read more

Engine on my Toyota Tacoma was running well, however, it did not pass emissions testing due to codes in the system. I read about Larry's shop online and decided to have them diagnose the problem. First call from them told me the Mass Air Flow sensor is bad and needs to be replaced for $420. I'm familiar enough with MAFs to know that even Toyota service does not cost that much. A new Toyota MAF is $188 and it takes 10 minutes of labor to replace it. After the "diagnosis" I retrieving my key and tried to start the truck. The engine was difficult to start and stumbled badly. Remember when I drove in the engine was running just fine. After returning home it turned out they had not replaced several hoses on the evaporator control unit and sure enough the MAF wire had been broken. Impossible to prove they did it. However, don't risk your car or your hard earned money on this shop. Reputations are built on TRUST. When they were asked why the sloppy work the response was "oh well". read more
