I would totally recommend coming to The Mechanic. They helped me out of a pinch and were extremely quick. Not only were they fast, but they also tried to get me the best deals on parts. They were very forthcoming about what was going on with my car and even took the time to show me the issues firsthand. I don't know many mechanics who would do that rather than simply tell you about the problem. I really appreciated that extra step. They truly went the extra mile for me when I was stressed about unexpected expenses and repairs, especially since my car wasn't safe to drive. I felt well taken care of, and I'm thrilled to have found a mechanic I feel comfortable going to now. Not to mention, they are a family-owned business, and I genuinely felt like they treat their customers like family. NEVER EVER COME HERE. This Business will take your car, money, and time then lie to you. I came in for a leaking radiator and they only refilled it. After I was involved in a wreck they notified me they "did me a solid" and didn't notate any damage to the radiator. After requesting the paperwork one of the mechanics threatened violence for using words that they don't like. NEVER COME HERE. IF I COULD PUT NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD. My tire blew out on the highway after being repaired at The mechanic. When the tire shop actually fixed it, they said it should never have been plugged in the way that it was at The mechanic. They also kept my car for four days and failed to diagnose an engine issue that was made the car unsafe to drive and... that was actually covered by a dealer warranty. Curtis is super nice, but unfortunately the service was less than thorough and the overall experience was not worth the money or the safety risk. read more

My SUV had a check engine light on and so I brought it by. The Mechanic did a fantastic and simple job of reading the code for my #7 Ignition Coil going bad. However, when they called to tell me how much the repair would cost they told me it would be $425-$650. The part costs a whopping $30-60 ($10/per coil if you buy a pack of 8). And their hourly rate is $110. I have NO mechanical experience whatsoever and was able to replace the part in less than 10min with a quick YouTube search. I literally unplugged the coil, unscrewed one screw and replaced the piece, and done. SUV runs perfectly now. They tried to rob me well over four-fold for a simple part swap on the top of the engine. I saved myself well over $325 by not letting them replace this part. If they are willing to go this far to rip someone off for a ignition coil, I wouldn't trust them with any major repairs. read more

I came in a while back because I had a leak in my cooling system. They gave me a discount for the diagnostic fee but then checked everything except for what really needed to be checked. They did not do a pressure test that I later learned needed to be done. They just looked and said nope no leak we don't see residue. Next mechanic found the leak and showed me exactly where it was. They did not listen to what I told them was wrong and I basically payed them to fill my coolant that ofc leaked out because there was a leak. read more

amazing, I had the dealer act like I needed all my breaks replaced. took it here and they told me exactly what I needed.

Took in my Honda Civic because the engine wouldn't start. It took 2 days and cost me $49 for them to give me a diagnosis and it was the wrong diagnosis. I feel they are too busy to take the time to truly find out the problem. They say it was the fuel pump that's bad. But the fact that Civic fuel pumps rarely fail, they are built to last around 250,000 miles while my car has less than 33,400 miles should have prompt them to dig deeper. Instead, they did a superficial diagnosis and were ready to charge me $730 to change the fuel pump. I even raised concern that something else might be wrong, but they insisted that I have to change the fuel pump first before they can diagnose further. I'm so glad that I pulled the car out and let a real professional mechanic, Joey Humphrey, re-diagnose the problem. Mr. Humphrey took 1.5 hours to really work on my car, even pulled out the fuel pump from the car and ran power on it to make sure that it's working perfectly fine. He checked all the fuses too. He correctly diagnosed that it's a failure in the car's computer system that stopped power supply to the fuel pump. It has nothing to do with the fuel pump itself. And he did all of these for free!! I can't imagine what would have happened if I continued repairing my car here. Will waste me $730 in additional to $50 diagnostic fee before they can even get to the real problem. I came here because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but I am disappointed of the actual service. They had a stuck-up attitude and were too sure of themselves. I wish I can get my $50 back and pay Mr. Humphrey instead. read more

I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere for your mechanic. It took four months of unnecessary stress for The Mechanic to reconcile issues that were caused by their own mechanic after I brought in my 2007 Lexus ES350 to get an A/C evaporator coil replaced (which is a labor intensive job). I left my car there five days in July and I came back to extremely careless and rushed work. The dash was torn up, airbag sensor was now on, and the steering wheel was tilted to the right. From July '20 to Oct '20, I had to bring the vehicle in six different times, three of which The Mechanic told me to come back because they were busy (even after scheduling advance appointments). Not to mention, the four other appointments they had to reschedule. I have wasted countless hours and carless days dealing with this business. Again, all of this was to fix issues that were caused by their work. I like to trust my mechanic when working on my car but The Mechanic's lack of communication and inefficient operations made this the worst mechanic experience of my life. Long story short, The Mechanic is good for cheap oil changes/alignments but anything else, you're just asking for a headache. The mechanic who worked on my vehicle was Jay (aka JR). Good and Bad. Took my truck in the get a radiator fixed. It messed up completely the same day less than 12 hours later. I will say Ben was very responsive in getting back to me and trying to mitigate the issue. There was an issue with placing blame on me, but after a discussion they agreed to fix the issue on their dime. I would definitely count my money after you pay the girl that works there. I was shorted change, thought maybe I didn't factor in taxes, but then realized I was shorted more than 10 dollars. Since I told Ben, I probably didn't factor in taxes, to not worry about it. When I got in my car and got my receipt, I was confirmed my suspicions that I was shorted. I didn't worry about it. Ben is a great guy and I recommend taking your car to him. He does good work and is very honest. However, I don't believe I can take me vehicles back there. I don't like the Napa parts only policy, because I can get parts cheaper somewhere else and save money. I also don't have full trust in them as a business. Nothing mechanic wise, just overall lack of faith. If I have a inkling of doubt about someone I can do business with them. I would suggest you go and feel them out, you may have better luck and experience than I did. Update: The owner emailed me in regards to this review. Essentially he told me not to come back to his shop. Unnecessary since I had already said I would not be back. I got referred by a friend to come here today to have my brakes checked out after another mechanic couldn't fit me into their schedule even though I had an appointment. I called ahead and spoke with Steve and he was very understanding and immediately squeezed me in. I was told that it would probably take all day because they had to order parts from another shop. When he called me 2 hours later, I was impressed to learn that they actually already had the parts and upgraded my brake pads for no extra charge. When I couldn't pick up my car until a little after close, Steve and Cameron were both very understanding. Suffice to say I'll keep coming back. These guys are honest and very reasonable. Please see a summary of my experience below: -referred to this shop by Discount Tire to remove a tire bolt -decided to get my rear brakes repaired at the same time -car was kept for a week due to brake shoes not fitting, family emergencies, and "Beaman has not delivered your brakes yet..." -I was understanding about the family issue however, I did not get good customer service at this shop beyond Scott. Scott was friendly and gave me a $20 discount after I spent money on Lyft rides for a week. -$520 later and my car was returned with very rusted brake drums. my brake drums were rust free prior to the appointment. -I had my brakes inspected by discount tire and car max. Both reported that my brakes were low quality and appeared cheaply done. -The shop owner, Ben, has not returned my phone calls. -Discount Tire cleaned as much of the rust off as possible due to the bad referral. read more

Would never come back to these guys. I had hear about The Mechanic through a friend at work being somewhat new to Nashville. My fiance's AC had stopped working and it's been getting hot out. I called and asked if they would be able to take care of it if I brought in the next morning at 7am. The woman on the phone told me that that worked and to bring it in. I had even offered to bring it in later in the week but she said that the next day worked. So I brought it in the next day. I woke up early so that I could bring my fiance's car in while we worked and i could take her to work. After not hearing anything and it being close to 4pm I called and they said that they still hadn't figured it out yet and they would call us to let us know. Well closing time came for them and no one called us back. No one answered our calls. The next day they said the same thing and no one called us. The woman there told us she had tried to call my fiancé yet she had no missed calls or messages and they still didn't know. Finally after not getting back to us and closing time come and gone, the next day the woman called us later in the day to tell us it would be a 1,300 dollar fix for an A/C belt. We picked up the car so that we could figure out if we could make it work. My fiance decided it was worth it and had them do the work. Same thing. They said they'd have it done that day and of course no one called and the car sat there overnight once again. After calling them a few times the next day they called to let us know it would be done at 4:30. We got there at 4:30 and sat there for awhile while they finished it. We saw them take it for a test drive and the guy parked it out front. We asked him if it was blowing cold air in which he nodded his head seeming annoyed and walked inside. We paid them and left. While riding home we noticed that the air was not cold. We were hoping that maybe it needed some time and brushed it off. The next day when it got hot and my fiancé was on the way home she told me that it was still blowing hot air! A week and 1,300 dollars later. We called and they said to bring it in and that they would take care of it. I brought it in when we both had time off and made sure it worked for them as we could not have the car overnight again. I checked in periodically over the day with the woman sounding more annoyed each call with closing time rapidly approaching. Finally they said they had figured it out and would have it done although it would cost more. Then they called back saying the had not fixed it and if I didnt want it their overnight and through Sunday with them not being open then i should come pick it up. I went and picked it up after closing hours and they called periodically to check and see where I was as it was closing time. I had to drop what I was doing at the gym and take an uber over so it took a little while as my fiancé was at work. I dropped it off a few days later. We didnt have to pay anything and they finally fixed it but I can thoroughly say that it was the worst experience I've had with a mechanic. Then my calipers no change then my break line. $600 later my car is not fixed. The last time I took it back I see the guy getting annoyed. Now I'm wondering did I pay for work that was never done? Took our vehicle to have a coolant leak fixed and the tires balanced and rotated. Told the guy I thought it was the water pump. Lo and behold, coincidentally, it was the water pump! They called and quoted the repair at $600 approx. We gave them the go ahead, then they called back and said they had "forgotten" to add an additional $400 to the invoice for "issues" that had ZERO bearing on the leak. We submitted and paid the $1000. 8 months later, the coolant starts leaking again. We begrudgingly take the vehicle back for another leak diagnostic. Main guy calls my wife to tell her that it IS under warranty and would be repaired for $0, BUT they found an oil gasket seal leak...and that would run $500 (BTW No evidence of oil leak on manifold or under vehicle prior to the 2nd trip in). She told them to repair the coolant leak ONLY. They didn't like that and hung up on her. 10 minutes later a different guy calls back and says they ACTUALLY messed up and quoted the wrong repair and that the coolant leak fix WASNT covered under warranty. It was going to cost us $230. Folks, I was born at night, but it wasn't LAST night. I wish I was simply making all this up, but this is how our experience actually went down. If you want to get completely SHEERED LIKE A SHEEP on a bait and switch, take your vehicle on down to The Mechanic. They won't fix the actual problem, but they'll be sure to FLEECE you out of your money somehow...someway. We tried to give these guys the benefit of the doubt. We put our trust in them, and they did us wrong. Try to make up all the excuses you want...and try to pass the onus onto us as the customer, but THIS WAS/IS WRONG!! Five stars for an auto shop, really? That's what I was thinking when I read through the reviews for here. Isn't it the job of My Prius recently started to make a loud hum from the front, passenger side. I googled about it & figured out that it was probably the wheel bearing going bad & needed to be replaced. So, started the hunt to find someone to fix it. I called the local Toyota dealerships to find a cost. Naturally, the dealership is going to cost more than a locally owned auto shop. The ballpark estimate I got from the stealerships, I mean, dealerships was $550-$625 with part & labor. I contacted a few local shops too for quotes. Those ranged from $395-$475. Some of those were pretax too. You know how much The Mechanic quoted me? $329 out the door. You know how much it cost? $329. I called on a Wednesday for the quote. Thursday I called back to make an appointment for that coming Saturday. I spoke with a man named Steve on the phone who was friendly & helpful. My appointment was made for 9:30am on Saturday. The Mechanic is owned by a man named Ben. I think it's a family business as is wife was the person who checked me in when I dropped off the car. She & Ben were both friendly & it didn't seem like a place that is trying to drain you of all your $. We had some errands to run that day, so I dropped off the car. They called me a around 3:30 to tell me it was ready. I think it would've been a shorter time if I was waiting on the car there. The shop office is rather small, but they've got a couch & a couple leather chairs for you to wait. It's a cute shop, they've got an iMac as the computer. It looks like they've invested some money into this business that I think has been open for around a year. I picked up my car & the humming noise is gone, thank god. I have been taking my car here for awhile. When they first set up shop near me I read up on the shop and the owner, Ben. I was impressed with what I read and thought I would give his shop a try. In the beginning you had to keep up communication with the shop regarding your vehicle and time frames because they were getting flooded with work and I don't think the office was truly set up to handle the amount of work they were receiving. That has certainly changed over the years. As with any business you learn as you grow and grow as you learn and they have become much more efficient in the flow of the office and workload. And yes, sometimes your car may be there longer than expected. A car has a lot of running parts and if it's not just a simple fix it may take a few more days (especially nowadays with supply and demand of parts being what it is). They may also get in there and find something else wrong or not quite what was expected. Again folks, communication is a two way street. Ask questions, be clear about time frames and expectations and they will communicate back what is possible. They are great mechanics, not magicians. Either way, I have always found Ben and his staff to be honest and fair. I have checked their pricing against a lot of places and find their prices to be among the best, especially when you consider you are getting honest and reliable work. Stopped in at The Mechanic to see about a tune up for my OLD hobby truck and was warmly greeted by Ben (the owner) inside the very clean front office. Ben listened carefully and wrote down all the symptoms of my truck without looking at me like I was stupid for trying to fix up my old clunker truck. He called me within 24 hours and gave me a very great quote to fix the truck (even with them having to custom make some of the elements). He and his team were very informative and the truck runs WAY tighter now. Even gave me some maintenance tips to prolong the life of the truck when I had questions. The reason for my low star review is because the front desk told me that it wouldn't take any longer than an hour for the services. I waited almost 2.5 hours and she kept saying 5-10 more minutes. I spent my whole morning in this mechanic shop on one of my only days in Nashville. If I had known it would take so long I would have Ubered back to my family and not have wasted a whole morning sitting in a shop with very little information given to me. My daughter took her car here to get her brakes checked because her light was on. Ended up getting it done along with something else and it was way expensive just for brakes to be done and it wasn't both front and back brakes either. However, her light was still on. We eventually took the car back and the guy went to check her car. Well he came back with a piece in his hand saying that was the reason it didn't go off and he didn't catch it earlier. I believe the guy accidentally broke the piece off and tried to say it was like that already. I say this because we had it checked earlier when she End to get the oil changed and the guys didn't say anything about to when they looked, but told us they couldn't do anything and that we would have to take it back to the shop that did the brakes. We ended up paying more money and I think the guy should have just said he broke the piece. Response to reply: well it wasn't checked before all the work that needed to be done was done. We were told the brakes needed done and the fluid needed to be filled which was the reason the light was on and yet it never went off nor did the mechanic check this prior to the car leaving the lot, but instead he says "sorry I missed that." I don't know what was charged I just know we paid a significant amount to put a small piece on the car that neither of us would know if it was broke or not. Good day read more
