Yet another amazing taco in beautiful Tijuana. Las Ahumaderas specifically las 3 salsas. I literally just ate here and my mouth is watering again. Tacos de asada which is skirt steak are amazingly marinated and almost melt in your mouth. Al pastor are fantastic as well! Super busy taco stand so I always take that as a good sign and there are definitely a ton of locals. Please don't think twice about making a day trip to Tijuana. This is an amazing city that's becoming more and more gentrified as the years go on. Coffee shops, modern restaurants, and tons of police and national guard presence really do make you feel safe. Come Eat Here!! It is so worth the trip!! Eat at the stand that says "Tacos El Paisa" -- Sit at the counter. Order what they do best Adobada tacos. They offer tortas, quesadillas, and other types of tacos but that isnt why you come here... Get the Adobada tacos. Make sure you squeeze a lime on each one. They are about $1 US per taco. Tip the cooks too.. They really are good. I had 5 when I stopped by on the way down to Rosarito, and 5 on the stop back up to the border. Great stuff, can't recommend enough. read more

These are the best tacos in tijuana. The food is always fresh made to order. They make fresh tortillas and grill the meat in front of you . The best tacos de asada and al pastor / adoboda . Super affordable and super clean . This place is always packed. The only down side is there's no where to sit . Most people take food to go or eat standing up especially on Friday and Saturday nights. read more

My family and I stopped here after taking my son to the dentist since it was just a block away. We were able to park right in front and took a seat. The gentelmen who helped us was very nice and patient considering we don't speak Spanish and he didn't speak English. We ordered adobada, lengua and carne asada tacos and one cheese quesadilla. I wasn't a huge fan of the adobada, it wasn't freshly carved off a rotisserie so I'm not sure where it was cooked but it was lacking that wonderful flavor. They also called it adobada on the menu but when serving it called it al pastor. They were just okay. My husband loved the lengua and said it was the best he has had so far. The carne asada were good. The guacamole and salsas were very good. Overall it was good but I've had better tacos in Tijuana and would probably venture elsewhere. read more

Tacos here are delicious! Make sure you ask for only half the guac because they overload it to tacos! I wish my stomach could handle more but I only ate 3, they were all very delicious and I can't wait to come back! So, our taco guy was Ulysses, whose nickname is flaco. He said he is from Tijuana originally and that he's been working here for 4 years, so I'll be looking out for him next time I am here. Anyways, back to the food, they seem to have just about every type of meat here and I order a carne asada, adobada and tripa and they were also very filling and good. Overall, I think it's cheaper if you pay in US dollars vs Mexican pesos. There are several taco places along this block but I got word from the taxi driver that this was the place and he didn't lie! Made a quick stop before heading back to CA. There are a few other spots located next to, however We were recommended to this place and let me say they pastor and chorizo tacos & quesadilla are so good ! I usually would get asada however personally did not like it at this location. Salsa was super spicy but amazing compliment with the guacamole, tortillas were freshly made and meat super fresh. One of my favorite taco spots in Tijuana. Came to this spot because the late great Anthony Bourdain came here and thought to myself I have to come here. The tacos and quesadillas are amazing. I once went there and ordered 25 tacos for myself, 2 pink lemonades, and 1 water. The total was 36$. The service is great and the tacos were packed with meat. My 900th review ... well let's talk about my very 1st taco I ever ate in Mexico! Las Ahumaderas (aka "taco alley") was established in 1960 (that's a pretty long time in Tijuana) and it was featured on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations back in 2012 (http://www.travelchannel.com/shows/anthony-bourdain/video/relive-baja-with-tony). The alley is consisted of six taco stands (El Paisa, Tacos Los Paisas, Tacos El Paisano, Las Quince Letras, and Las Tres Salsas) and you will find some of the best street tacos in Tijuana here. Since the only Spanish word I knew is "gracias", I only dared to try one taco stand (Tacos Los Paisas) and luckily I had someone who helped me placing my taco order! The staff doesn't speak English at all, but you can get away with simple words like "asada", "tripa", and "horchata". Once you are done with your food, then you simply walk up and pay at the counter (you'll need to tell the server what you actually ordered). *** Tripa taco ($20 peso): Tripa = gut or intestine. Sounds gross, but It was actually one of the best taco I've tried. Meat tasted slightly chewy and sauce was really spicy ... oh I could also FEEL the weight of this completely stuffed taco. Do you like guacamole? Lucky for you because each taco comes with a huge scoop of guacamole. Asada taco ($18 peso): Pretty good, but not as good as tripa. No need to drive down to Tijuana for asada taco - you can find some really good one in LA. Horchata ($18 peso): Light drink with just the right sweetness - I can drink this all day long. *** Was it a religious experience? That's a bit of an exaggeration, but not eating any tacos at Tijuana is somewhat like not drinking any boba / pearl milk tea while you are in Taiwan. During Covid shutdown we decided to do something fun and why not.. so we drove to TJ but not without doing a little bit of research of which Taco spot to hit and come to find out this is precisely the Taco Stand that Anthony Burdain (RIP) visited. I checked out the are in regards to safety and Boom we took off! It was an excellent experience, the people were nice, section was sanitized where we sat down to eat and there is also social distancing and as trained as we are we follow rules! This places disappointed along with the other two stands that are next to each other. I was near by and decided to go try the tacos. I had one from each stand and they all failed miserably. I have no clue how these places have so many stars and great reviews. With so many bomb ass taco stands in TJ this place falls way behind. I'll stick to my spots and continue trying other places. The taco was bland. No flavor like the tacos I usually get in TJ. The horchata didn't taste good. This place is way over hyped. Amazing tacos..Literally street tacos in Tijuana. (well...actually it's an alley but close enough) I ordered two tripa, two asada, cachetes (they were out of lengua). All the tacos tasted extremely fresh and juicy. The perfect amount of cilantro, onions, guac, and spicy suace.. (and the spicy sauce was actually pretty spicy. I died a little bit..but in a good way) I'm definitely coming back to try the campechano taco next time (chorizo + asada) since people are raving about it. Tacos are cheap (about 20 pesos each, which in 2017 currency is $1 each). The workers speak basic English so you'll have no trouble ordering. If you are stuck, just use Google Translate or some other form of technolgoy. It's 2017, there should be no barrier. read more

I'm honestly having cravings since my first visit. It's just that good. I tried the carne taco and the saudero taco which was my favorite. The flavors were unreal and I can't describe it but the meat was melt on your mouth good. The salsa and the accompanying items (green onion, radish, cucumber) was an added bonus. It's a hole in the wall joint but don't let the appearance fool you. Great food, great service and affordable. Also try the orchata drink it's not like the staff in American ... no comparison. Had an absolutely wonderful experience at Las Ahumaderas today. The shop is essentially hole in the wall, but it did not lack personality and certainly had good food. They have all of the meat cooking right in front of you, including a charcoal grill and roasting spit. The chefs were all friendly and helpful, even with our broken Spanish. I would highly recommend the Cabeza tacos (best ever!!!), and my friend also recommended the Vampiros tacos - but the other options we had were also very good. I'd also recommend getting all the topping (onion, cilantro, guacamole, verde sauce). Will definitely be stopping by next time I'm in TJ! read more

Apparently, this is the best area for street tacos in Tijuana. Makes sense since there was shop after shop of open air cooking where the vendors were showing off their wheels of cooked meat and encouraging people to come in for the "best deal on tacos." We ultimately chose this place because it had indoor seating and could accommodate our party of eight. Once we sat down, we looked up and noticed a big banner with a photo of Anthony Bourdain at this taqueria - if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for us. I was just hoping we weren't about to eat tarantula or something uber exotic... I ordered a torta and two tacos and it was more food than I could really handle. I finished it, but was extremely uncomfortable after the fact. Come with a big appetite - they don't skimp here. I settled on carne asada for the handheld that had a good amount of meat, but also included some of their dressing, guacamole, onions and cilantro. No beans on this one and that was fine by me. The bread that housed the sandwich was light and fluffy - it was quite delicious and I could have easily stopped there. But I was at a taco shop, so I HAD to have some tacos.... you know - for research. For tacos, I got one chorizo and one al pastor. I liked the chorizo the best as it had a little kick to it. All tacos come double wrapped and overflowing with meat. If that wasn't enough, there was a huge scoop of guacamole that pretty much covered the taco in its entirety. You really got a lot for about $1USD. They have additional salsas if you need to bring up the heat a notch. The later it got, the more people that began to pour into the restaurant. It's open 24 hours and apparently a hotspot once the bars and nightclubs let out. They have plenty of seating around grills as well as televisions show a variety of soccer and other sporting events. I really enjoyed my meal here and I'd want to come back for more taco goodness the next time I'm in the city. I'll probably compare them to every other taco I have in the future! read more
