Passing through Fort Smith as part of a road trip back home. After searching through Yelp, decided to take a chance and try Las Americas Too. I'm glad that I did. The place is amazing. It looks to be a mix of Mexican and El Salvadorian food. Be adventurous and try some the El Salvadorain cuisine. You won't regret it. Pupusas were different but good. To echo the other reviews, the service was excellent, and the owner even came by to check on us! The papusas were excellent, and my chicken enchiladas were very tasty, without the overbearing spice many Mexican places often throw in to their dishes. The tamales were amazing. What an awesome local business. Quality food, and great service. You can taste the effort they put in their food. Its not bland or gross. I will be coming here a lot with my mother who discovered it. I ordered the quesadillas... Mmmmmmmm! Here you can order yellow or white cheese. Really cool because you can't do that everywhere. Their guacamole is made fresh and their some cream is cold! What a delightful surprise so far north of the border! We just moved here from Texas, and so far had found bland food, and because it was served with tortilla chips, somehow that made it "Mexican" food. My husband despaired that he'd never get any more of the food he loved. Ah, cry no more, we have found our new restaurant! Spicy, full-flavored dishes with abundant portions, served with a smile! Rosa was our wait person and patiently answered all of our questions. A big shout out to her - she was really nice and friendly! We started with Pupusas, which are tortillas stuffed with some combo of meat, cheese and beans, your choice. Very tasty, but let 'em cool off before you try. They're freshly made and come to the table really hot. We ordered guacamole, too, which was fairly standard. I had the seafood burrito for my main course. My husband said "why get a burrito?", like no BFD. Well, lemme tell ya, that was the BEST freakin' burrito ever. It was stuffed with several kinds of seafood and was served with a very light cream sauce. It came with yellow rice, beans and a couple pieces of chicken flautas. My man ordered the Mercedes Combo which included a chicken tamale which he said was the best he ever had, a couple of Pupusas and two pasilitos. The outside of this restaurant looks like nothing special. The inside is very bright, clean and cheerful. And holy cow, the food was spectacular!. I really wasn't expecting this to taste so amazing! I had the breaded steak panziado tarina. The plantains were delicious and the steak so tender it just melted in my mouth. I had no idea just simple refried beans and rice could taste so good! We also had a patron margarita. Best of all the server was very cheerful and friendly. The woman who ran the cash register needs to take a cue from him - she was the grumpiest person in there. One of the best restaurants I've eaten in. Probably the best restaurant in Fort Smith, and probably the best restaurant in Arkansas. Really, and I've eaten in New York, London, LA, Pre-Katrina New Orleans, Chicago, Athens, etc, etc. The food is uniformly excellent. Service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere always clean but not perfect. I love their Burritos, especially the 3 Color Burritos. Every dish I've tried there is nothing short of excellent and good. I leave there happy, especially after a few mango margaritas. The best Mexican food is usually (in my opinion) found in the small family owned places. This place fits the bill perfectly. Many of the menu items have a Salvadoran option, which is what I had. I love their papusas served with curtido! I usually get the pork and cheese, I believe. Not to mention the sweet plantains served with sour cream and beans. Those are enough to fill me up. The only other dish I've tried so far was the chicken chimichanga, which was great, and I like the yellow cheese they put on top. Horchata is great too. Solid somewhat interesting menu. I will need a few more stops, dinner in particular to get an idea as to whether the kitchen is any better than ordinary. I like the idea of bringing the Americas all to one kitchen, but the lunch menu focuses mostly on Mexican. The dinner menu is subdivided by region. So based on the reviews my husband and I decided to try it out, didn't leave a great impression. I had 3 soft tacos and they weren't to bad, meat was a little dry, and it came with a VERY small side of guac and pico like enough to put on one taco. The charro beans were okay, the rice thou just wasn't very good, it was like the rice you get from walmart and make in 3 minutes. The salsa has a good taste it's just kinda runny not thick at all. My husband got a burrito and it only had steak in it, no rice or beans or cheese or gauc nothing. He wasn't thrilled at all. The portions are also small. read more

One of our date places we go on a Friday night. The girls there always super nice. Great original food choices that you can't get any where locally. Get the Margaritas they are smooth and make the meal that much better. I'm wondering if all the people that have this place 5 stars actually ate at the same restaurant that we just did. I have lost all faith that I had in Yelp. The salsa is so watery it won't even stay on a chip and the rest of the food had no flavor. The cheese sauce on top was a vivid yellow color, as was the rice. The beans were also very thin and watery. Service was fine, food came out quick, and it's not expensive, but that's ALL the nice things I can say about this place. Since moving back to the U.S. after living in Nicaragua for six months I've been looking everywhere for, and not finding, Nicaraguan food...until now. While I would call their Nicaraguan menu items "Nicaraguan Inspired" and not traditional Nicaraguan recipes, the Gallo Pinto dish I had was amazing and did convey the same savory, bright, fresh flavors I fell in love with in Nicaragua. The quality and service were both top notch. I've only been living in Arkansas for about a month, but I can easily say this is the best restaurant I've eaten at...certainly far better than any other Mexican food restaurants. read more
