The food is very good and the portions are BIG for each taco, so you definitely get the bang for ur buck! The flavors are very authentic and the tacos were delicious! I tried every single type of taco with cilantro and onion. My only complaint is that the meat to cilantro and onion ratio is a bit too skewed towards the meat so the flavor balance isn't exactly perfect, but I can't complain since they're so generous with the meat. We also got some horchata which was very great and authentic tasting. They got the balance between the flavors just right and the nice touch of cinnamon flavoring. The service is great and kind, and my girlfriend spoke to them in Spanish. You know the tacos are good when it's owned by people speaking Spanish!!!! We ordered dinner last night from Las Brazas via DoorDash. When the food arrived, we were missing the guacamole and chips that we had ordered, nor were there any chips to go with the pico de gallo. There are caddys with green (mild) and red (hot) sauces. I got the asada tacos and asada burrito. The grilled corn tortillas are a bit small, and are piled with ingredients, making a potentially sloppy meal. The asada had a slight seasoning, and was tender. The burrito was stuffed with meat, refried beans, and Mexican rice. Flavor-wise, I believe the menu was tailored for local gringo tastes, so be advised the sauces are not there for looks. Everything was good, but needed more heat. The service was good and friendly, with mom going about the dining room bussing and cleaning tables, and talking to the customers. This was a great little hole in the wall. We had the tacos combination plates. The pork (carnitas), steak (asada) and tongue (lengua) and the lengua Huarache The meats were cooked to perfection. Tender and seasoned well. The corn tortillas were freshly made and didn't fall apart while eating them. The rice and beans were flavorful - nothing unique just rice and beans. Not too wet, not too dry. Not under seasoned or too spicy - just right. They offered soda in bottles and cans with no fountain drinks. In general the restaurant is small as there are six tables for four and a bar like table for four more. It's a place when packed is crammed but the food is good and fairly priced for the generous portions. The location is in an interestingly odd location, as it is located next to a muffler shop........ I wanted to check out this place because of the good reviews. Looks like it's the spot to check out on Tuesdays for $1 al pastor tacos! I was impressed with how clean and modern the restaurant was. Space is a bit tight, but I really like that they have an open kitchen and you're able to see them cook your food. You place an order at the front, then they'll bring your food out to you. I went with 2 al pastor tacos since they are known for them, and 1 steak taco. My boyfriend ordered the steak burrito, which came with chips. Usually when we dine in at a mexican restaurant chips and salsa are provided, but not here. We paid extra to have something to munch on before our food came out. I was disappointed that our chips were stale and broken into smaller pieces. The salsa had a good kick to it that I enjoyed! Luckily, my boyfriend's burrito came with chips that were better! The menu indicated that the al pastor tacos came with a slice of grilled pineapple, so I was disappointed to see that my tacos came with literally the smallest slivers of pineapple LOL it was honestly very sad. This is my second time eating here and I am pretty positive that every single time I have to go up to Lafayette, IN for an appointment I will make sure to stop here for food. The first time I came here about a week and a half ago. I was getting gas and the man at the register was eating something that smelled so good! I asked him where his food came from and he points across the street at this restaurant. I absolutely had to go. Both times now I have ordered a barbacoa burrito. The first time I ate the entire burrito and was absolutely stuffed! This time I only ate half of it and I feel perfect. My burrito had shredded beef, pico, letter, cheese, beans and rice with the mild sauce. The temperature was perfect everything was Fresh and my shredded beef was tender. I really tried to branch out and try something different on the menu that I hadn't had before but I lost that game Barito all the way! This is the BEST taco restaurant in Lafayette, IN! My friend took me to this place that he discovered while visiting other nearby businesses. Otherwise, it's pretty hard to know about this place coming from West Lafayette. I'm from Chicago and I've been to a handful of taco spots in the city, and I can say that these tacos are BETTER than most that I've tasted in Chicago! I've been to a few taco/Mexican restaurants in the Lafayette area and nothing comes even close to Las Brazas Taqueria in how good it is. Everything that goes into the taco taste exceptionally fresh. The meats are very flavorful and taste as authentic as it gets. To add to that, you have a variety of sauces and hot toppings to give your food a little more kick. So happy to have found this place...have been several times over the last year when moving/visiting our daughter at Purdue. Among the best meals we've had all over the WL/Lafayette area. Each time we are in the area we try some new places, but always make time for a visit to Las Brazas. Had a very poor experience with this establishment. First off for 3 tacos, 2 waters (bottle water only) and chips and salsa was $ 25. For lunch. The problem arose when we ordered chips and salsa. Our server brought our meal but no chips. We asked her and she asked if we ordered. We replied yes and went to get them. Then again she comes back to ask if we want chips and salsa. Yes! Again. She then comes back with our extra plate. Still no chips. We ask again. Rudely she says they're not ready yet. Finally she brings them. To make it worse now her father and owner comes out to see the problem. He is no help and only wanted to defend his daughter and said he didn't care if he was given a bad review. Las Brazas took over the Mi Cabanita restaurant location. The interior was gutted entirely and redone as a modern restaurant. It probably has one of the nicest interiors of any restaurant in Greater Lafayette. 100% brand new everything. The people who run the restaurant did it all themselves for the most part and it is impressive. I overheard another patron ask how many other Las Brazas there were - because of the professional quality of the decor, menus and everything he thought it was a chain restaurant. The cashier let him know this is the first and only. Their menu is professionally done, they have a scrolling video board or a nice takeout menu to order from. They're using Square or something similar for payment processing...the highest tech real Mexican restaurant in town. I had a huarache with al pastor and barbacoa and also a tripe taco. The standard tacos were only $1.50, but were on the small side. (tripe will cost ya an extra $.50) Actually that's generous...the tortillas were *tiny*. Made them hard to eat - very messy. Tripe taco tasted good. Served crispy as I had requested. The green sauce that was brought with the meal was dynamite. I would buy it for carryout. Huarache is basically a large, flat, crunchy tortilla with beans, rice, meats, lettuce, cheese, tomato, sour cream on it. served with a grilled jalapeno and grilled cactus. It was good. Beans could have used some more pizzazz. Again, a little messy. The service was excellent - very friendly, fully bilingual cashier/server. Possibly the cleanest restaurant in town. They had Spanish-language music playing. Dining room is very small...there were six tables, maybe five people could sit at each. If they had a few groups of two in there, there would be a severe seating crunch. Parking is also tight, but there's a street right nearby. The restaurant is next to an auto repair shop. Went here because of the high ratings on yelp and I was not disappointed. FOOD: 9/10 We both ordered burritos, one asada and one carintas, and both were excellent. We asked for queso on top of the asada burrito and it was very good; however, they did not as much queso topping as I've had at other restaurants. We also got the chips and guacamole--the chips were pretty standard but the guacamole was pretty good but not the best I've had. Service: 10/10 The serve was outstanding. We ordered at the counter and by the time we sat down the food was already at our table. All the staff was great too. Ambiance: 9/10 The restaurant has 6 high top tables each with 5 seats. In the location of the much-missed Mi Cabanita restaurant, Las Brazas Taqueria is a great find. Las Brazas is all about the taco and, in particular, tacos al pastor. And indeed, the tacos are some of the finest we've had. The tortillas were a bit small (which, for somebody with ten thumbs like yours truly, means that significant portions of the filling land on the plate instead of in your mouth), but the meat was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the lengua (tongue) which, if you can handle the idea of, y'know, eating a *tongue*, is tender and absolutely chock full of flavor. The al pastor lived up to its advertising, and was perfectly done with just the right amount of crispy and tender. Really delicious. Finally, the camaron (shrimp) was notable, if for nothing else than for the sauce, which was a fiery mayonnaise-based concoction. Prices were very affordable, in line with comparable restaurants. The selection was not as extensive as other places, but Las Brazas is smaller than most places and, as mentioned, laser focused on their tacos. Quick update: On our second visit, we ordered a huarache (which I haven't seen elsewhere) which was outstanding. They also bent over backwards to accommodate a vegan eater in our party (serving the al pastor and cheese on the side). They've definitely earned a place on our "regular stops" list. read more

I've been eating here since the new ownership and have started to see a decline in product and service. It's nearly $15 dollars for three tacos, rice and beans. That includes Zero chips or salsa -- even if you dine inside. Water isn't free - you must purchase it. The staff is not friendly or welcoming. Though the meats and the sauces are delicious, the portions are tiny -- about three tablespoons of rice and beans. Rice and beans are cheap.
