First off, I ordered from the Livernois location and ended up having to pick up from Southfield. None of the orders that I made online were correct. The ground beef has this weird grill taste but it's not good and if you're ordering everything mild, yet the meat is spicy as heck, what's the point. I was accidentally way too early for my flight and found this gem that's inside a gas station on yelp and they opened at 5 am! Was blown away how fast and fresh everything was. I got the chorizo and ham breakfast burrito combo for $10!!! The women working there are efficient. Great spot read more

Another great gas station . . . for me to dine in! Inspired by Janelle "Putting the P in taco"'s review of tortitas El Rojito, I finally stopped in here and it was great. Maybe there should be a new Yelp category: "Taco-stand Inside Gas-station" or TIG. They had an extensive menu including tortas, tamales, champurrado and tacos. The latter could be ordered flour or corn, fried or "soft". I had the corn tacos which were lightly grilled, not unlike the aforementioned El Rojito. These were bigger and meatier with your choice of prep. They were made to order in front of a bright and shiny glass counter. You could have them any way you want from cilantro and onion to cheesy with guacamole. I went cilantro, onion and lime, with some outstanding smokey "hot" sauce. They were delightful. The place is also surprisingly nice for being a gas station. They have a large selection of beverages inside coolers in front of which you are sitting. They had 4-5 tables I believe. There were 3 people working the counter and a steady stream of customers which was great to see. They were kicking out some food and it all looked great and fresh. read more

This is not real Mexican food, last time I was there, my steak tacos were tough. Definitely Americanized Mexican food. The Chile Rellenos were not actual whole chiles.. just lots of breading and two slices of the wrong type of Chile pepper. read more

I have worked near this restaurant for 4 years now and go regularly with coworkers for lunch. The food is good, the shakes (especially the peanut butter with chocolate protein) are great. The customer service, however is the reason for the lower rating of stars. There were a few polite staff members working in the back when I first started going a few years ago, however they have since then left. Everyone that remains is SUPER RUDE. I am African American and I do not speak Spanish. I usually go in in the morning to get a shake. There is a new lady making the shakes now and she doesn't speak a lick of English. I will be standing in line for 10-15 min before I'm even acknowledged. On NUMEROUS occasions, Hispanic customers will come straight in from outside, speak to the lady in Spanish, and she will start to make their drink--- I don't care what they are ordering, whether it's a time consuming shake or a cup of coffee, if I'm in line I deserve to be acknowledged and served-PERIOD. The last few times I went in I tried to make it known that I had been skipped over -- no one understands what I am saying, I ask people in the line to help me translate and they say they don't speak English either, then talk to the lady behind the counter in Spanish as they all laugh together. I had another employee come over to try to tell her my issue and she stated "she said she didn't understand your order" (the same order she recites to me every morning before I even order it) but this particular day she "didn't understand". I replied that if she didn't understand then she should have got someone that did instead of just completely ignoring me and helping 5 other people that came in after me (literally, no exaggeration, I counted a group of 5 men that were behind me that she took orders for) Despite my better judgement I went back again the next day for the same thing to happen again. This time as I was trying to talk to them about how she was making my shake they just COMPLETELY IGNORED ME. I ended up walking out after wasting 20 min of my time and ending up late to work with no shake. Myself as well as a few of my coworkers REFUSE to go back in there because of how bad they make us feel EVERY TIME. They are clearly racist and rude to anyone that is not Hispanic. It's really unfortunate because I love their shakes and they are very conveniently located. read more

Cazuelas is like a fast food setting .. but it's just as authentic as any of the restaurants in Mexicantown! This place is always packed for lunch, so prepare for some wait time -- but they move rather quickly! They have different specials during the weekday.. but my coworkers and I usually always get their steak burrito or chicken quesadillas. Also, their chips are made fresh daily! They have a couple of tables if you'd like to sit, but I usually get it to go! Cazuelas is affordable, convenient, and delicious! What more could you ask for ;)? read more

Who would have thought that a gas station would have such good food? Well it's possible and Las Cazuelas Grill is it. I tried them because of Brian S.'s review and go back because of the flavor. The staff all speaks fluent Spanish and English. The food is prepared in front of you and the tacos are plentiful. My favorite: Cazuelas salad: not for 1 person alone (unless you are super starving). They take a flour tortilla shell and drop it in a deep fryer to cook it in the shape of a bowl. Sounds bad for you? It probably is, but it was good. You pile on lettuce, tomatoes, guac (if you like it), sour cream, and your choice of meat. I went with grilled steak. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I finished the entire bowl. I also ended up in a sleep comatose from being so full. It is more of something to share. Light, crispy, and full of flavor. They offer call ahead takeout, ice cream, and smoothies too. The most impressive restaurant I have ever been to that is located inside of a gas station. They even have seating! I ordered two tacos: One al pastor (pork) and one grilled steak. I ordered both with soft corn tortillas, which had a beautiful texture and fresh flavor. I will be ordering the al pastor taco again. In fact, I'm a bit obsessed. It had enough spice to make it interesting. I topped it with a bit of onion. I shouldn't have eating the steak taco second. In comparison to the pork, the beef tasted pretty bland, and was a bit chewier than I would have liked. One of the other reviewers remarked on the chips and guacamole, so I made sure I ordered those. I was not disappointed. The chips were some of the best I had. They were tasty enough to eat plain. Which wasn't happening - Not when I had awesome guacamole to go with them. As authentic as you can get in a close to fast food setting. With options such as Las Cazuelas who would want chipotle? Also great option when Mexican town is further than you are able or willing to commute while looking for a tasty Mexican food option in Detroit. I had the Las Cazuelas salad with beans, rice, lettuce (of course), steak (choice between steak, chicken, carnitas), tomato, cheese, onion, sour cream and guacamole. I thoroughly enjoyed the taco salad shell. Reminded me of Navajo Indian fry bread, not as thick, but close. I was skeptical upon entering a taqueria located inside of a gas station. Entering at lunch, I knew it couldn't be too bad because the line was extremely busy! The staff kept the line moving fast throwing delicious meats on warmed tortillas and personalized toppings. Despite the long line ahead of me, I received my order quickly. I was truly surprised at how amazing my lunch was from this taqueria. The tortillas were fresh and warmly cradled delicious, tangy al pastor (seasoned pork) meat that was topped with fresh cilantro and onions. The sauce added some heat to each tangy, yet savory bite leaving my only regret in ordering two instead of 3 tacos. Guys, this place has a lot going on. It is of course a gas station, it is also a convenience store, it is a used car lot...and probably best of all, it is a Mexican restaurant. Pretty much everything I've tried has been delicious. Botana, burritos, burrito bowls, tacos...you can't go wrong. Check what the "daily special" is to save a few bucks, but prices are reasonable to begin with. Don't forget dessert-- the flan is awesome. Food is ready quickly and staff is friendly. It is also very clean. The outside is a little rough. There isn't really clear parking, so most people just park at a gas pump. I have been asked for money a few times on my way inside. The cashiers are behind bulletproof glass. One time the cashiers were smoking behind the glass. So, yeah. It's Detroit. But it's definitely worth it, and now that I don't work nearby anymore..I really miss it. read more

I came across this place when I stopped in to get gas. I was hungry so I decided to get a burrito. Who'd thought that you would find the best and authentic Mexican food in SE MI inside a gas station?? I regularly stop by on my way home. I almost always get a burrito b/c it's the easiest to eat while driving. I would eat here every day if my office was located closer. Cheap, authentic, and delicious. This is tucked into a gas station on Livernois close to Michigan Ave. Yes, it's a little bizarre to have a restaurant in a gas station, but don't knock it till you try it. This is my favorite Mexican place of all time. Truly. One of my biggest issues with a lot of Mexican restaurants is the freshness of their ingredients. Surprisingly, this place is extremely fresh with high quality ingredients. I usually get their small nachos, and I literally salivate while they make it. Their tacos and quesadillas are also amazing.They also make their own juice! Be warned: There are a few schools nearby and it gets COMPLETELY crazy after school. The owner has banned students from entering, but sometimes, that is hard to monitor. I am a teacher at one of the stated schools, and I avoid this place right after school. You'll be waiting a very long time to pay for your food. read more

But that wasn't what I got and I should of had her ask but she came back supper upset. One of the workers was rude to her and just didn't want to listen to what she was trying to explain!
