    Frozen house Margarita...

This isn't a fair rating since we only went in for chips, salsa and margaritas, but we can't seem to find a decent margarita around Harlingen for the life of us. Im6sure COVID has affected everyone, but salsa was pure tomatoe sauce and chips were from an HEB bag, if I didn't know better.

My boyfriend's dad recommended this place and I was a little hesitant since I had never been there. We showed up at 8:00 a.m. It was early so not a lot of people were there so our service was quite quick. We both ended getting the same plate with barbacoa, eggs, potatoes and refried beans. The plates came with tortillas and I asked for flour. The flour tortillas were hands down the best I've had. They were large, perfectly cooked, and incredibly tasty. The refried beans were homemade and y'all, they were amazing. I feel like they added in some bacon grease (they may not have) but it tasted awesome! I didn't like the barbacoa which is why I couldn't give this restaurant a 5 star review. The barbacoa tasted bland. And I didn't like the texture of this particular barbacoa. My boyfriend loved it though so maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it. Also, I thought the potatoes were undercooked but my boyfriend did not. Again, maybe they caught me at a bad time. Either way I enjoyed this place and can't wait to come back to try some tacos!

The parking lot is a bit small but once you park and go inside, the restaurant opens an ambience of chill and Mex! The waiters and Manager Rosa are ready to order and serve you. Never have I had a problem with respectable timing and a great meal. I had menudo and my fam had carne guisada.

Panchos w/o meat if they have meat= sombreros

The panchos are the thing to go for. The tortilla chips are fried and they are made to perfection. The chalupas are made with the same tortilla and topped similarly chip. Refried beans. Cheese. Guacamole. Meat. In a chalupa it continues with lettuce and tomato. I was a little disappointed with the lengua (tongue) I'm used to it being melt in ur mouth soft. This one was tough :( the service was superb and quick we went and it wasn't busy. Hopefully its the same when it is busy. Must go for happy hour as it is reccomended by the locals

    delicious!

I've been eating here since 1970 when menu was written daily on a small blackboard on the wall and plate lunches were $1.25, drink included. I left the area in '84 but have returned frequently ever since. Las Vegas is always my first stop, and last night was no different, meeting up with ten family members for dinner. Our server, Elizabeth, was superb. When I saw the menu, I was concerned. It was six or eight pages, with dishes I never expected to see here. But I understand why, even though my first thought was, "I hope they haven't messed with the traditional dishes." I've always maintained the cheese enchiladas here are among the three or four finest in the world, if not THE finest. That's what I always order. I also ordered panchos and guacamole. My wife ordered beef enchiladas. The guacamole was very good. The nice thing about LVC is they don't use much (if any) cilantro. This stuff ruins guacamole. Their homemade chips are beyond incredible and so is the salsa. The panchos were terrible. Way too much cheese. Ratios are important. The refried beans and rice were very dry. And finally, the cheese enchiladas. They were not good. There was very little gravy (this is what makes them so good) at all, and the gravy wasn't right. They have changed the recipe. There was also way too much cheese on top. Ratios are important. The medium (soft, medium or crispy taco shell) ground beef taco was perfect. My wife said her enchiladas were also disappointingly dry with bland gravy. I ate the taco and about half the rice, beans and enchiladas. I paid what might be my final tab here, and picked up everyone else's check. 56 years ago, I paid less than two bucks out the door. Last night's tab was over $250 with tip. Times have changed. Unfortunately, so has their food. The women's restroom was repulsive. I won't go into detail about the trash can.
