Walked in today (11/10/25) TO THE OWNER OF THIS STORE: you have a VERY nasty employee (female, thin, tallish, 40-50's) who likes to give customers the evil eye for absolutely no reason. My friend and I were browsing, speaking to each other and I looked at this woman and she was actually staring me down with the most evil, nasty look on her face. So, if there was a million things in your store I wanted to purchase, I would have not bought one because of her. I'm sure she's turned many a customer off. On this visit to Santa Fe, I think my girlfriend and I made three THREE trips to this fabulous kitchen store. They have everything that you could want for cooking, including excellent cooking lessons that are hands-on, which is the only time to take. And I purchased my friend, a gorgeous set of glasses and a picture of that she chose as her hostess gift. When we got the back to her house in Eldorado, we were thrilled with how beautiful they fit with her Decour both inside and outside on the portal. For myself, I purchased a wonderful bamboo Tajin e & Himalayan sea salt cellar for dipping the rims of margarita glasses as well as 3 of the finest mesh large tea bells for my loose leaf wild-crafted herbal teas. What a find! I also discovered two silicone poached egg "thingies" that make absolutely perfect poached eggs just like the ones served at breakfast at The Bobcat Bute. My friend signed up for a cooking class that I would love to attend with her but, sadly, I won't be here. BTW: Everyone that works here is fun, super nice, and really expert in their merchandise and about cooking. What a great place! read more

We took the Cooking with Johnny Vee! class while on vacation and I had the best time. It was hands on and we made 5 dishes using red chile. I learned new recipes, a few new techniques, and will be using them at home. It was a relaxed, fun atmosphere, not a sales pitch like some of the visiting "brand" chefs might be. Took a "cooking class." It's in quotes because it was actually more like a let's fleece the old ladies class. We paid $100 for a time share-esque sales pitch for Henkel knives and cookware and some minor afterthought instruction. Oh, and we got a small lunch at the end. It was clearly very effective, as the ladies in my class couldn't buy enough of the advertised products. It was truly an emperor isn't wearing clothes experience for me. Cosa and Henkel were surely laughing all the way to the bank. read more

A fairly nice selection of kitchenwares and appliances. You can probably find better prices else, but shopping in person lets you see and feel the pans. Service is mixed. Some of the crew are very pleasant and helpful, others far less so. During our most recent visit, one of the floor staff lectured me about how skillets don't generally come with lids and that you don't need a lid when cooking with a skillet. (Nevertheless, we found a nice no stock skillet with a lid!) read more

I honestly can't believe the poor reviews for this place! We happened upon this adorable shop and while neither my mom or I was in the market for any high dollar items, the woman working the shop was incredibly helpful, friendly and outgoing! I only spent around $15, but she made me feel like we were the most important people in the store...AND she was helping multiple visitors at the time. I wish I lived in SAF so that I could take a cooking class (or 5!) from there. If in the area of this mall and you love cooking, I can't recommend this place any more!! read more

Great specialty kitchen store in Santa Fe. They have an incredible selection of cookware and kitchen utensils. I rarely go in this store because the staff is unbelievably rude and unfriendly. When I do go to this store, it's because I need something immediately that I can't wait for Sur La Table to deliver. I went in today and immediately approached by the rudest sales woman. She wasn't helpful and was condescending toward me. This is why people don't shop here and why this shop is always empty - the staff unforgivably rude. I'll never shop here again. Get off your high horse, Las Cosas. You're a kitchen shop, nothing else. Time to replace all the old grumpy sales people with a friendly staff. read more

Needed help with a complicated recipe, both with prep and appropriate cooking vessel. Staff member very helpful and I got the right dish, at the right price, and a successful meal! My wife and I wanted to take our first ever cooking course on our cross country road trip. We thought it would be a great idea to try New Mexican cuisine, and as luck would have it, we saw the course (Dinner in a Dash New Mexico Style) at Las Cosas with Chef Robert. Chef Robert is a great (and hilarious) host and a talented chef. He explained all the different elements of New Mexican cuisine with a lot of respect, as he has clearly has done his research and immersed himself in the culture of New Mexico. All the dishes we made were awesome -- green chile stew, polenta with green chile, and more. Highly recommend Las Cosas and Chef Robert! read more

Three cheers for Johnny V! We had a wonderful fun evening, and my expectations were not terribly high, honestly. And when Johnny explained the menu we were going to make as a group, my thought was, "that sounds delish. Can't you just make us up all of that?" Each couple had at least one dish to be responsible for. Johnny was a guiding hand with each as the timing called for. It was like watching a dance-master. So we made 6 dishes as a group, 1 of which (fish tacos) we have already successfully made, and there are 4 other dishes we know we'll be adding to our repertoire. I need to change my rating of Las Cosas! After a poor customer service experience a year ago, I was contacted by the owners who wanted me to give them another chance. I went in to buy several appliances for Christmas presents and received the personalized, one-on-one, knowledgeable service that was missing the first time around. I also did not have a positive experience with the person I worked with to return/exchange a defective product. It was clearly defective and I should have been offered a full refund. Instead, since I did not return it within the 10 day limit, I was given store credit. The staff person was not friendly in demeanor. I think it should be a "no brainer" if a product was defective, give a refund. The store otherwise is well stocked and pleasant, and I would agree with others that it is overpriced. read more

Our second trip in about 5 years. We found the staff to be polite and very professional. The selection eclipses anything we have seen except in the specialty stores in NYC and the prices are very good. We found a lot of good knowledge to help us make decisions and even find a few things that we did not know exist but makes life in the kitchen great. Again, we make a special trip on our Vacation just to drop in and get goodies for the house as well as Mom and Dad for their kitchen. I bought an $1800 espresso machine there several years ago. Love the machine, but dealing with the inept staff was very disappointing. It took me and hour and a half to get the purchase completed because the staff wanted to demonstrate every aspect of the machine. I have shopped there for other items and have taken one of the cooking classes, as well, so I was a fairly regular customer. But, I need to replace the frothXpress attachment. I looked online at the manufacturer's website and the replacement was $54 plus $6 shipping. I decided to try to see if Las Cosas had it in stock first. They did, but it was marked at $80, not including tax, so basically close to $90 total. I told them what it cost directly from the manufacturer and asked if they would meet that price. The answer was no. Not even an offer to meet in the middle. They lost a regular customer with that kind of treatment. I like to support local business, but when they price gouge that much, I'm done. read more

I have found the staff to be helpful and kind. Our coffee machine stopped working, I was immediately given another to bring home until mine was repaired. If I have ever had any question about a staff response I have gone to the manager, or to the owners. The store is well stocked with everything I need and I find they carry the mundain - a small torch to brown meats, etc.all the way to Good pots and pans, China, reasonably priced wine glasses - since we too often break ours and now, finally, some good olive oils. They also help me to my car when necessary. It is really just about the only place I go. Sorry to see some negative remarks, but that is not my experience. read more

This kitchen shop is so nice, and they have such nice things but it's so sad because the people who work there are so rude and unfriendly. They almost make you feel like there better then you and that's just sad. I won't shop there again because of the service. We just had a cooking class with Chef Johnny Vee and the Las Cosas Cooking School, and I can't express how happy we are with our cooking experience with Chef Vee, the class and the food! We had a fantastic time with his New Mexican Menu and he couldn't' have been a more fun and kind soul cook with. The kitchen and store were nice, clean, and organized. Everything was hands on and his education and instruction was well planned, organized and unbelievably delicious! The store itself had friendly knowledgable employees and their classes are excellent. The store has one of the largest selections of wares you may ever find in a kitchen shop. I read all of the reviews of various cooking schools and stores in Santa Fe and did my own free thinking and am still absolutely thrilled with our decision to cook and shop here. The store staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The next time you're in Santa Fe call up Chef Vee and set up a time for one his private classes. He is a wealth of talent and a total blast to be around, and the food, My God!, the food was incredible We loved it! Enjoy! read more

We signed up for a cooking class here taught by a chef instructor representing a manufacturer of pressure cookers because we wanted to learn more about using our pressure cooker. He never washed his hands. Troubling at first and then a downright food safety nightmare when he used bare hands to transfer raw chicken to the pot. He then wiped his hands on a dishtowel and put the contaminated dish towel on a cutting board that was later used to cut up raw carrots. One of the owners of the store was sitting watching the demo and never spoke up. We left without tasting any of the dishes, not willing to risk a food borne illness. We spoke to someone on the way out and mentioned why we were leaving early. And since we knew there were two more classes scheduled the next day, we called the manager to make sure someone would speak to him. It was the first the manager had heard of it. Thanked us for the call but didn't apologize or in any way try to win us back as customers. read more

This review is for the Mesilla store, Las Cruces NM. Went in on 4/26/2011 at 10 a.m. Asked about kitchen knife sharpeners and when I inquired about their quality I was told that "They are all good" which gave me an indication that the sales person/cashier did not know anything about them. I was also taken aback by the super high mark up on all of the items. VERY pricey merchandise. In fact, I wasn't even going to buy anything except that I had a $50 coupon bought from The Las Cruces Daily Deal. However, when I tried to use it the sales lady told me that there was a mix up with expiration dates and the coupon I was using was expired and she wouldn't honor it. Well instead of honoring it and keeping a potential customer happy, she refused to take it. That is when I vowed to NEVER go back and tell as many people as I can about this. I mean, I was gona buy merchandise over the coupon value and if I liked the stuff may even have gone back in the future. But now, NO WAY. I will not even buy stuff from their website. If this is how Las Cosas treats customers than they can keep their overly priced merchandise. I'm positive I can find a much better deal on the internet for the exact same items. Time to get my money back for the coupon and shop somewhere else!!! read more
