I've been stopping by this Cuban cafeteria almost every morning on my way to work for the past four years. At this point, the staff knows my order before I even get to the counter, which says a lot about how often I'm here and how much I enjoy the place. In my opinion, they serve the best Cuban tostada in Southwest Florida. The Cuban bread is exactly how it should be--not overly soft or spongy--and toasted to the perfect golden crisp. Pair that with a large café con leche, and you've got the perfect start to the day. Every now and then I'll add a couple of ham croquetas, and they never disappoint. Over the years I've worked my way through much of their hot food selection, including the congri rice, yuca, fried plantains, pork chunks, ropa vieja, and Cuban tamales. Every dish has been consistently flavorful and satisfying. I've even ordered large catering platters for holidays and family events, and they've always been a hit. Needless to say, this is one of my go-to spots. Great food, friendly people, and consistent quality keep me coming back week after week. And I almost forgot--the chicharrones are absolutely FIRE. I was raised in Miami. The medianoche I got today was not good. It was definitely thick with meat. They toasted it. The mustard was not correct...was sweet...sad to say I couldn't eat it all. My husband didn't even want it. The ladies were polite. Store was the usual for there and it's a Cuban deli. I went in this restaurant with the hopes to order a nice meal, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth. The service was more than lacking. There was a man asking to exchange a box of tomatoes for a plate of food but the girls serving refused. They were rude to his pleas. I decided to give this man a plate of food. After he left, the girls decided to roll their eyes and called him names. This is not the first time I come and their service is more than lacking. There was no need to humiliate him in that way. I love their pastelitos but is it worth going back to have another bad experience? I'll let you decide. read more

We were on the way to the U-Pick Blueberry farm and saw this tiny little restaurant with the jam packed parking lot. I made a mental note of its location so we could check it out for lunch. We went back and arrived shortly after 1 pm. The lunch crowd was leaving or do we thought. Before we finished our food there were two more waves of people. The restaurant is cafeteria style. You pick your meat snd two sides. Drinks are in cans or bottles a la cart. Food was "plated" into styrofoam containers for dine in or carry out. The taste was quite good with subtle mixes of spices thrown in with just enough tropical flavors to make you realize you were "not in Kansas anymore, Toto." I like Cuban style foods. They often have to make do with what they have and what they might be able to harvest from their gardens. The subtle nuances they create they do not try to ruin with hot sauce like in Jamaica. If you insist to ruin their efforts, there was a bottle of hot sauce at each table. The restaurant is quite small. It was clean. There is a single bathroom. The serving sizes were huge. We easily have another meal from it. Two things which led to the downgrade. The Key Lime Pie was still frozen. In its defense though, even though it was frozen you could not detect so much as a single ice crystal. The other thing though could have blown us all up. One of the workers was outside taking a smoke. As he came back in he threw his lit cigarette into the propane tanks. Propane is heavier than air. Even a tiny leak can pool on the ground or low spot. Give it an ignition source and, BOOM! Probably would have thawed the Key Lime Pie though. LOL read more

Drove past this place multiple times wanting to try it. Always packed with cars. It's definitely cafeteria style. Nothing impressive inside, which is fine. Cleanliness is meh. Lots of meat and cooked starches. If you like some fresh veggies, this is not your stop. Was impressed with the sizes of the meat combo plates some of the guys ordered. A serious amount of food! We got a Cuban sandwich, which was huge. Definitely got our money's worth quantity wise. Ordered the recommended way but it was tasteless. Big bummer. My other half will eat about anything but threw the rest of this away and then didn't feel great the rest of the day. Was also surprised key lime pie wasn't featured more inside since there's a big sign outside. They could totally sell more pie with it more visible, maybe in pie/cake plates on top of the counter. Who knows - maybe they sold out of it all before lunch. Aside from the quantity of food they serve, I suspect many of the hard working guys who come for food don't hate the the view (several cute gals behind the counter who wear yoga pants & look good in them). read more

Large Cafe Con Leche with a Cuban sandwich. Super large sandwich, I wasn't expecting it to be that big. But they pulled the sandwich from a refrigerated case, put it in the microwave for a 1:30 then put mayo and mustard and put it on the Panini press. I expected it to be crunchier but it's very tasty. I love their coffee but wish they wouldn't put so much sugar. Also had a chicken empanadas which was less than warm, good but nothing special. . Overall great place. read more

My hubby and I have been wanting to eat at this Cuban restaurant for the past few months now. We finally made sure to stop in. It is usually really busy when we pulled Ed into the lot there wasn't anyone. After being in there for 5 minutes it got packed. I haven't had Cuban food here in Flight so I was looking forward to it. The serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Apparently we came at dinner time. The had main courses with choice of two sides. My hubby and I each got their half chicken with arroz yellow rice and sweet plantains. They put everything in a styrofoam container. There are two tables available. It seems the majority of people take it home. The place was really clean. The tables were clean snd we sat down to eat. Since it's small and people were lining up. We changed our minds and took the dinners home. The staff were courteous and efficient. We got home. Couldn't wait to dig in. The food was really good. The portions were very big. Since We held off eating lunch we were able to eat all of our food. I'm looking forward to returning and trying a sandwich (I'll make sure to share it with my hubby,)and try some of their key lime pie. read more

It is a very popular (farm workers) and busy whole in the wall. The portions are big and reasonably priced . The food was good and freshly made to order. The restaurant was dirty and hot. Our waitress was very friendly and worked like a slave. The counter clerk where you pay was rude and tried to have us put our tip in her jar instead of put it on the table. Each time we pass this place, it's always busy...so on our way to Vero Beach today, we stopped for lunch. We ordered the Steak Sandwich and The Cuban Sandwich. The Steak was okay and had some "shoestring" crunchy potato sticks on it. But the Cuban....OUTSTANDING!!!! It had the perfect balance of Ham to Pork, a crunchy pickle, slathered in mustard on a crunchy hunk of Cuban Bread. All of the food on the Steam Table behind the counter looked great too....HUGE Whole Pork Shoulders, Chicharrones, Beans, pulled pork, rice, tostones & many more Cuban delicacies. I was excited to try a local cubano and key lime pie when my uncle suggested it and we ended up placing an order in advance for the sandwiches since they can take a while. What I did not realize is that the sandwiches are massive and one can easily feed three people, especially when adding in sides. The meat was packed a bit thick for my liking and there wasn't quite enough mustard but we were able to remedy that quickly once we got back to the house. I wouldn't rank the sandwich in my favorites for cubanos but the rice was delicious and the key lime pie was probably the best I've ever tried. I didn't get a chance to try the oxtail but everyone in our group raved about it. This place was busy when we arrived but we got through fairly quickly after picking out our side dishes. I would recommend this place. If I ever return I'll make sure to try the empanadas and tamales but skip the cubano, flan, and rice pudding. read more

i go here a couple times a month. they have always made good cuban sandwiches but today i was a little disappointed. first she put our cuban sandwiches in a microwave and i don't recall them ever doing that. then she squeezed mayo and mustard on with some pickles. then pressed it. there was no flavor in this sandwich and it was disappointing. i'm hoping this was just a bad day, i have not written them off yet. read more

We popped in and got a Cuban Sandwich (to share) after my relatives would not shut up about it. We got it "to go"with two icy cold Diet Cokes. For party catering has been a great spot. I usually get their yellow rice, tamales and pork. I got their food for a Xmas reunion with family and also for a baby shower and everybody loved the taste of their food. I have gone to eat at the place a couple of times and always great food. Only issue is the parking but worth the trouble. It's easy to spot since is the corner of palm beach blvd and Joel blvd. 100% recommended. This place is only open until 7:00, not 8:00...and they lock up at 6:45. I showed up the first time at 6:30 and the selection was limited, and I ordered the last fish entree (it's cafeteria style, as the name suggests), and 2 different types of beans as takeout. It was all good, but not great. A few days later, I ordered the CUBAN Sandwich with everything, to split with my wife...to go. It sets the standard for a Cuban Sandwich. The pork and the ham go together perfectly. To my surprise, the took the sandwich out of a refrigerator case and zapped it in the microwave! Then they added ingredients and put it in a press. I was thinking it would be terrible cause of the microwave. But when my wife and I tried it, just the half was a big portion. Neither of us thought we'd eat the whole thing, but it was too good...one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten, and even my wife couldn't refrain from finishing it. I would go out of my way to come here. Downside is that the seating area, while clean, isn't a comfortable place to enjoy the food...and they don't serve beer or wine...so for me it's take out with the Cuban sandwich. I had really high hopes for this place. Their Facebook has really high ratings, so I was hoping to finally have a great place for Cubans and sweet plantains. This place started striking out from the beginning. My husband and I arrived around 6:15pm. When we walked in, we weren't greeted. We looked over the menu and my husband decided to order for us. Before he even started, the cashier said that they were closing in 30 mins so everything would be "to-go" only. Bummer. We wanted to sit down and enjoy our meal. Also, there are no posted business hours anywhere. Anyways, he ordered each of us a Cuban sandwich, and some ham croquettes, stuffed potato, and sweet plantains to share. We watched them "make" our sandwiches. They were semi-premade (bread, meat, and cheese). They added our toppings then threw them in the microwave. After that, they were put on to a sandwich press. The ham croquettes, stuffed potato, and plantains were previously cooked and set in a cafeteria type hot bar. My husband and I really weren't impressed by this point. We still took our food (to-go, not by choice) and parked at a nearby parking lot to eat it. This is when things really went down hill. My stuffed potato was hot on the outside, but cold (almost ice cold) on the inside. The ham croquettes were mediocre at best. The plantains were only half warm and had some kind of additional syrup on them that I have never had on plantains. It made them a little too sweet. Now to the Cuban sandwiches. They were by far the worst sandwiches either of us had tried to eat. Because they were microwaved, the meat was incredibly dry and tough. The bread was almost inedible. We both attempted to eat at least half of each of our sandwiches, but neither of us could make ourselves do it. They were that bad. We didn't want to waste the $25 we spent on our food, but we just couldn't stomach it anymore. The worst part is after trying the food here, I ended up getting sick from something. This food was the only thing I ate for dinner so I'm fairly certain that something I ate was bad. My husband and I would not recommend Las Delicias Cafeteria to anyone. Our hard earned money definitely won't be spent there ever again. read more
