Had dinner with friends at El Gaucho Inca this evening. My first time dining there. There were three of us so we started out with ordering Argentine Empañadas for appetizers. Fortunately for us there were 3 empañadas per each order. They offer chicken or beef empañadas We had the beef empañadas. They were quite tasty. Then we decided to order una Parrillada for our dinner that we could share amongst us. The Parrillada consisted of chicken , pork , steak , sausages, and blood sausage. The Parrillada was presented on a hot plate to keep the food warm. There was soooo much food that the 3 of us could only consume about half of the dinner. We ordered side dishes of white rice ( delicious ) and plantains ( sweet ) to compliment our dinner. Two of us had maracuyá ( Passion Fruit ) to drink with our meal while one of us ordered a mango flavored Pisco Sour. ( Peruvian National Drink ) We were all sated after eating only half of The Parrillada so there was no call for dessert. The restaurant was equipped with a Bar , several booths and tables for your dining pleasure and decorative art displays reflecting the Argentine Gaucho and Peruvian Inca influences which created the required ambiance for such an establishment. Kevin was our server and he did an exceptional job explaining and answering our many questions. Kevin was also attentive to our needs and very polite and respectful. The food was delicious ! We liked everything except the blood sausage. Uuffff I really wanted to try some of their dessert dishes because they had great reviews on Yelp. But ... none of us had any room for dessert. It was $50 but considering that it was enough for 2 adults with leftovers for dinner for 2 adults it was an amazing deal. So, first and foremost... the location is in a shopping center, nothing glamorous about it, so let your date know this is nothing to rave home about in regard to the location or it's interior, so it's definitely a casual dining setting.... The flavors are so incredible, the meats are trimmed and well prepared. Swai are raised in Vietnam in literal sewage, and toxic waste, then pumped full of antibiotics to ship to the USA as a cheap fish. Why would you charge almost $30 for a dish with calamari, shrimp, and mussels in a delicious sauce just to cheap out on the fish you serve with it. The staff and waiters were kind, the complimentary bread and creamy chimichurri sauce was delicious and the portions were big. I ordered the Churrasco with tostones and white rice. Pro tip: save some of your creamy chimichurri sauce from the complimentary bread and smear some on the tostones if you get them. I would've realllyyy liked the chicha morada drink to have been homemade because the bottled version available didn't remind me one bit of the one my childhood friends mom had in her fridge. My family that lives in Ft. Myers brought me to this restaurant during my visit and it was DELICIOUS! Okay we'll do an old fashioned and a margarita thinking they must be at a better rate. When the bill for food and drinks came the drinks were regular price. Fabulous. You can always tell the direction of you meal by the bread. Luckily, this bread was great. Slightly warmed with crispy crust and a lovely green sauce. The sauce is made from peppers flown in fresh from Peru. Delish. First up was the grilled calamari. Seriously one of the best ever. The calamari was soft and had the right amount of chew. The chimmi sauce on top was the perfect flavor. This dish really worked. Then we had the caprese salad with prosciutto. Once again it delivered in freshness and flavor. The balsamic on top was just right. Finally, we had the skirt steak. It was a huge portion and the meat was fabulous. The seasoning was light so you could really taste the meat. Food is delish. The taste is full and the sauces have great flavor and texture. The fettuccini was cooked good and not chewy at all. The food wasn't the problem today. The biggest issue is the staff. There was a young kid that took my order, server named Brian. We ordered two meals, $53.17 and a chocolate cake slice. Brian took my order, asked me the fundamental questions such as, "what kind, shrimp or all seafood which included fish. and then he put in the wrong information. We ordered all seafood Pasta a lo macho and Pasta Picante de Mariscos. That meant mussels, squid, fish and shrimp. when we drove the almost 30 minutes home to lehigh, off of Joel, we were disappointed to find only shrimp. We should have known better because he missed our first order, chocolate cake which he apologized for not putting on the bill after I told him twice about it and I thought it was over, after we paid for the cake of course. But now, as I type this in the passenger seat, we are heading back to get our actual food. If you order from Brian, please triple check your order. This, for me, is inexcusable. And I say this because of the price we paid. If it was $35 for these dishes total, that would be one thing but at $20 or so per dish, they have to be right. Also, I showed him my phone, the stuff my wife sent me to order, and it included the chocolate cake (UPDATE) We got to the restaurant and Brian the host was apologetic and the manager made one of the two meals so I went home with only one. I ate mine and my wife ate the correctly ordered one. She couldn't finish it, though, because the shrimp was under cooked and the sauce for the noodles was tasteless. I tasted it myself and it was bland. I have a suspicion that he thought I was lying to him. But that's ok. I know what I ordered. Will we be coming back? No, not at all. This restaurant is too expensive for me as a customer to be treated the way they did BUT if you don't mind bad service, the first as I said was delicious. Only place I know where I can get grilled octopus. Took my bride (of 35 years) there day before Valentine's Day to avoid the crowds. Food was authentic, tasty and beautifully presented.
