Recently came here with a group of 10 people for a birthday dinner- nothing says "happy birthday" like unlimited chips and giant margaritas, am I right? Service by Veronica was amazing! Our group was unfortunately unorganized, did not all arrive at the same time, and was not ready to order at the same time. She was very accommodating and kept our water refilled, the chips/salsa refilled, and kept coming back to ask if we were ready to order. Our food was served about 5 minutes after being ordered. The one plate that had been served with rice instead of beans (special request) was caught as she was setting it down without us saying anything. She came back in a minute with the error corrected. That is some attention to detail! The food tasted great. The portion sizes were great. I ordered my usual (quesadilla with mushrooms) and was happy. Not too greasy and filled with cheese. We have been here twice now. Each time the food was really good. Very authentic. The service was outstanding. The second time, they were busy and short-handed, yet our drink order was taken within 10 minutes, and food was out within 20 minutes after we ordered. Miguel really took good care of us. We have been faithful patrons of Las Fuentes since they came to Affton. Even during shutdown, and we couldn't eat there, we ordered many times for pick up. Always happy with it. The last couple of times we have eaten there have been disappointing. My margaritas barely had any alcohol. It is mostly mix. This was not the case before. I used to always want 2 because they are yummy. Not the case lately. Any time we venture out for a meal we eat outside. We never have such a bug, fly or bee problem as we do at the Affton Las Fuentes. So hard to enjoy your meal when you are constantly shoeing away flies or other bugs. We are regulars at the Las Fuentes on Telegraph and in Arnold, so we thought we might as well try this place as it is near the St. Louis Center where our daughter plays volleyball. They have a discount on Cadillac margaritas on Friday, which seems unnecessary, but we'll take it. They are really good here. The Las Fuentes system must be a pretty good one, because the food has been consistently good and pretty much the same as we've had at he other places. This is not taqueria food - I don't think street tacos are available for instance - but pretty much everything is pretty tasty. We really like the Alhambra, which has steak and ham with corn tortillas. It's enough to feed two unless you're super hungry. Sometimes we'll add a tostada. We've eaten here maybe six times. The service has been pretty slow on a couple of occasions, and be warned it does get pretty crowded as I guess this area has limited options for Mexican. read more

I don't know what has happened to this place. We live in the neighborhood and this has been our go-to for almost 4 years and the quality/service has been declining for a bit. This last time was enough to post. I've dined in several times and service was slow but this time I got carry out on a Saturday and the time they assigned me for pick up was 45 min later. Fine. Got there right on time and couldn't find anyone to help me get my order. The bartender was downright dismissive, and I sat for another 40 minutes before my food was ready. There were 2 tables occupied in the restaurant. The food was the worst I've had at this restaurant. Calling it lukewarm would be a complement. We ordered dessert (fried ice cream and sopapilla) and it was melted and soggy. We spent ~$60 for cold and soggy food that an hour and a half to get. Not sure I'll be back. When it comes to good authentic Mexican style food, I think Las Fuentes is a top choice. I've been to this location a few times and I've also been to the location off of Telegraph. Both locations serve the same quality dishes. One thing that sticks out about Las Fuentes is the size of the portions. They fill your plate. I also must compliment them on the kids menu and plates because the food they serve is very good. The chicken strips taste great.
