The people are the sweetest. Their food is good. They are open late. They even have a cute little place to sit and eat.

Each taco had a generous amount of meat, was well-prepared, and tasted fresh. The real game changer, though, was adding the jalapeño cream sauce along with a few salsas from the salsa bar which took the tacos to another level. If I could, I'd give this place 6 stars just for that! Also, I'd recommend the cucumber lime agua fresca drink. It tasted refreshing and the perfect amount of each flavor. Their menu has a great variety of options, and I noticed several people ordering the dinner plates, which looked absolutely massive. I also saw them bring out a sizzling hot skillet that I could hear from a few tables down. You definitely get your money's worth here. The service was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly fast. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, and the salsa bar was fresh, organized, and full of appetizing choices. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

I had the shredded chicken burrito, and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and one of the best I've had. My wife ordered the caldo de res and loved it. The salsa bar was fantastic with plenty of fresh, tasty options, and the homemade chips were warm, fresh, and addictive. The restaurant was spotless, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was incredibly fast. Everyone we encountered greeted us with a smile and made us feel genuinely welcome. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food!

There is a tortilla lady in front making fresh tortillas with her own tip jar. Huge menu. You should be able to easily find whatever you're craving. Complimentary corn tortilla chips, salsa, and refried bean dip with cheese. I loved the REFRIED BEAN DIP! I ordered the Steak a la Chicana. I didn't read or listen carefully enough that the skirt steak with sauteed onions and bell peppers are covered in Spanish sauce. The sauce is actually quite tasty with a little kick. I used it and the salsa to flavor the black beans. However, I really just wanted grilled steak. I should have ordered steak fajitas, a grilled steak burrito or quesadilla, or a carne asada plate. The Steak a la Chicana was a generous portion, which is definitely 2 meals for me. Cilantro rice wasn't anything special. The SWEET CORN TAMALITO is yummy comfort. Choice of beans: refried beans, black beans, or pinto beans. I suspect refried beans is the tastiest option. El Tapatio would be a great gathering place for friends and family. It's located on Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Heights near See's Candies and other restaurants.

They had I think it was $1.50 tacos on taco Tuesday. The tacos were really good and the salsa bar is excellent! The bean dip isn't too bad either. I've also come to try out their other menu options and let me tell you they do not miss. I've heard they have a really good brunch and I need to try it out lol. I love a good brunch. The service is always great and it's always busy every time I've come even have had to wait in a line that when out the doors. There is plenty of seating the restaurant is pretty big inside. There's a bar as well. Is it the best Mexican food in Sac? No. Is it delicious? Absolutely! If you haven't been here it's a must.

A friend brought me here and I confirmed this is true homemade Mexican food to the palate. I felt I got brought back in time with the beans and queso Cotija cheese sprinkled over them like I was back at my Abuelita's house. The rice and beans are like at family holiday parties. The Chile Relleno, Barbacoa and Jamaica drink were delicious! I found a new hole in the wall spot for my fam and anyone visiting me from San Diego. Well the place was empty, but it was a Sunday... And it is a small place located on Madison Avenue…read more I went because of the high star rating and it was close to where I was coming from, after experiencing their food I would say this is probably the worst Mexican food I've had in a very long time. The Carnitas was the driest probably old pork also as it was pretty flavorless, the beans were fine, the rice was not traditional and it was grey.... Unsure about that. The crispy chicken tacos were on Old corn tortillas they were not crispy they were rubbery as if they were cooked off earlier maybe even the day before the chicken was dried out and cold not shredded pretty much no flavor to it... the guacamole was old it was dark green. The chile relleno was not traditionally cooked, more like a chilli in sauce. beans ok, rice grey/brown. Flavor point off. The cashier was nice. The place was clean because it was empty it does have TVs to clearly see if you're watching a game, unfortunately I came to this restaurant for food not entertainment will I ever come back no and will I tell people about it yes I will tell them not to go there's too many other great places the bill came to about $60 so you can go anywhere for this... I should've went the other direction where I knew the food was good. It is what it is you try new places and you hope that you're going to get good food or people actually care what they're doing., they do not care here what they're serving up and that is obvious.
