They have a daily special which my husband loved. The Carnitas was very good. I had two of the street tacos and they were just as yummy. The service was very friendly and the waitress gave us excellent attention. The only drawback is they charge ($2) for their salsa bar, which is normally included as part of the Mexican restaurant experience that we frequent. The ambience is very "get down" as my husband would call it, or rustic in my opinion. All in all, it was a pretty good experience. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst Mexican food experiences we've had. I ordered the tamales and had to send them back because they tasted extremely poor and not fresh. I then tried a taco instead, thinking maybe it was just that dish, but it was just as bad. My husband ordered a burrito, and after trying his, I realized the problem was not limited to one item, the food overall was very low quality. The recipes, flavor, and food preparation seriously need work. Nothing tasted fresh and almost processed or out of a can. Before serving food like this, the kitchen really needs to reevaluate its recipes and overall standards. The only positive part of our visit was the woman who served us. She was very kind and provided excellent service, which made writing this review harder. However, good service cannot make up for food that simply is not good. I had my second meal at Martha's and it was as good as the first. The bean dip came with chips with cheese melted on them! My Happy Burrito was stuffed with juicy grilled chicken and beans. My husband went to pick up a bean, rice, and cheese burrito for me. It's not our 1st time coming here but will be the last. Not sure if the woman at the counter remembered him and knows he always pays with cash but when he went to pay she told him his total was $16. When he argued the price she at 1st insisted that was correct for a single rice, bean, and cheese burrito and when he said he no longer wanted the item she dropped his total to $11. Certainly seems like someone tried to implement a mandatory $5 tip on a to go item. We have been going to Martha's now for over 5 years. It has been our staple for Mexican food. We generally order the same meals, and don't vere off our beaten path. We order the Chile rellano, steak fajitas, happy burrito, chimichanga, and when I'm feeling like a rabbit, I order a salad with grilled steak and their guacamole. Chips and salsa are complimentary with all food items. Their spicy salsa is quite tasty with chunks of onion, tomato, cilantro, we always add a little salt to snap the flavor. All the servers are energetic and talkative :) they make good margaritas and the food has yet to disappoint. I can say I have my fair share of mexican dining. The best Chile rellanos in the area, the sauce they serve with it is amazing in fact I have ordered the sauce with other dishes, just to take other meals to another level! If your on the citrus heights/ Antelope areas, this is a must try! I can't vouch for their tamales, but I have had enchiladas, tostadas, tacos, burritos, fajitas, and my all time time fav.... First off the server was great! My husband had the Chiles rellenos. I had chimichanga with carnitas​. Or at least that's what I ordered. My husband's was great. The flavor on mine was great bar not tasting the meat. . There was about one tablespoon of carnitas in the entire burrito. Defiantly not worth the price. So happy I made the trip down to Martha's! I was looking for Pollo de Tinga. I ordered the Tinga Happy Burrito. I was not disappointed! Probably the best Tinga I have had in 25 years?! We stopped here for lunch and it was our first time. We've been here almost 10yrs and never knew about this hidden gem. The food was Amazing, a nice clean atmosphere, wonderful drinks and Awesome customer service. Our waitress Marisole was AMAZING!! She knew we were first timers and she had patience and she was running Everything. She was serving customers, taking in house to go, making drinks, answering the phones and serving food. The service was really good, and the food came out fast, but the food quality was quite disappointing. My husband has ordered the Martha's Burrito twice now, and each time he's ordered it the fries are stale and rock hard (borderline inedible). I ordered a bean, cheese, and rice burrito, and about 80% of the filling was just rice (hardly any cheese or beans). I'd love to go back because it's convenient, but the food quality is deterring me from doing so. read more

Food was good, staff was friendly. One thing I like that is different from other Mexican restaurants is they have grilled onions and grilled jalapeños in the chips and salsa bar area, so good! I live nearby and ordered take-out via phone call. Hostess was super friendly and helpful, and repeated my order back to make sure she got everything right. I'm a tad ridged on my expectations because I honed my taste and flavor palette craft in Orange County, Ca. I chose the two item combination with an enchilada with carnitas and a chicken taco ( super taco?? ) I have them two stars because I feel that they know better and can do way better. The problem is that there is much competition for Mexican ( strip mall level ) food here so they all stay below the bar. In the Mexican food world you have your crap hole in the wall joints ( class C or D locations ) in the hood. Like you find in Santa Ana and Anaheim or possibly in South Sac. Which I'm a fan of by the way. I love authentic hood Mexican food frankly. You have your high end places like Javier's in Newport Coast, Ca and Century City. Which in my opinion is good food too, but once you get the $350 check, I kinda pull back a tad. I mean it's Mexican food bro! Relax Javier!!! It's trendy, I get it. Ease up on your prices! Anyhow, back to Martha's. Sadly I feel they need to retool and go back to the basics. Mexican food should start with a really good bean game and a really fresh rice game. Build from there. Stay away from the glitz of what you think the people want. It's all about flavor, temperature and presentation to me. Make some better sauces Build on that salsa. That creamy cilantro ranch you have is lacking flavor. The mild is way off, not far from El Pollo Loco salsa. Which if you know, you know. Prices fair Location was good The flavor was a three out of ten. The food left me bloated and feeling low-key gross. The next morning, not so good. Lol The chips and salsa game was poor. Self serve from a buss tub ?? If Martha is alive, she'd be pissed you serve old stale chips from a grey buss tub. A waste of talent and a huge opportunity miss. I like that you have a bar area but try to work on your display. Stop trying to be what you're not and be authentic to what Mexican Cuisine is built on and get back to cooking. Don't serve people what you served me. It wasn't all trash, but let's say this, I'd rather spend another $4 and go to Carmelita's and drive way out of my way . Reinvent yourself. More than just a taqueria! Truly delicious and authentic food. Several salsa options and fresh chips. I had the two item combo. One crispy taco and one street taco. The carnitas was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My boyfriend has the Martha's burrito and wouldn't stop raving about how good it was. The Horchata was the BEST I've ever had!!! This is what the first 3-4 people opened, just to throw them away. I quickly grabbed the rest and stored in fridge so no one else would grab. Glad my husband and I found this little gem close to home! We ordered takeout, so I can't attest to the service here, but I have no doubt it will match the food, which was very good! I ordered a chimichanga for the first time in my life, since it looked so good here on Yelp in the photos and I was craving something different. It was SO delicious! The shredded chicken was not dry and the flavors were just right and not spicy. I added the sautéed onions and salsa from the salsa bar and I appreciate that the onions were cooked, which lends more flavor. The chimichanga was huge and I had some left over for a following lunch.
