Three of us shared the pound of barbacoa that came with some above average flour tortillas and pica de gallo. The barbacoa was good quality. The red salsa was mild and slightly sweet. I liked it a lot. One of our party had chilaquiles and was complimentary about them. They were still serving breakfast at 11:15. read more

My colleagues and I have been coming to this place for the last 10+ years. The new owners have completely changed the recipes on everything. Gone is the flavor and unique atmosphere, replaced with bland foods, ok salsa, and watered down sodas. Another great restaurant that has become incredibly overpriced. I just paid as much for two cheese enchiladas, a crispy taco, and a drink as I would pay for a more filling meal with lots of flavor at a chain restaurant. Sorry to say we will not be coming back to this place after this last experience. High prices and bland food are bad for business. I encourage people to frequent any of the 6 or so Mexican food restaurants within a 8-10 mile range from this place. read more

My whole experience was great! Everything from the food, to the service, to the cleanliness of this joint was on point. I had the beef enchiladas with rice and beans and the standard small salad on the side of the plate. Not the best I've ever had, but it was certainly nothing to complain about. I was more impressed with the salsa - they know how to bring the heat! Although the name (and the decor inside and out) implies it's primarily a seafood place, they have wide assortment of entrees. They have about 10 seafood choices (including some grilled), the traditional Mexican food fare, steaks, and more. Lots to choose from as you venture up and down the menu. We drove from san antonio to Floresville to find out .... I order the enchiladas with a puffy taco lunch Special. The puffy taco had a very funky taste. The enchiladas were on point. $12.93 was my total with a pepsi to drink. My friend on the other hand ordered a tortilla soup. My goodness, if I could give more stars I would. My mouth waters thinking about the wonderful shrimp nachos: loaded with shrimp, refried beans, and white cheese. The chips were warm and thick. I agree with the other reviews, the homemade flour tortillas here are great! I also tried the Enchiladas Verde which had shredded chicken and it was delicious. I went here with a group of nine on a Saturday afternoon and everyone enjoyed their meal. I would come here again if I was in the area, especially if I'm looking for a place to eat with a large group. Prices are decent, service was good, ample space inside/parking, and there was something on the menu for everyone to enjoy. Two of my friends kept raving about the tilapia. I was also happy that one of my friends who tends to not like food at Mexican restaurants (esp greasy), and who is a bit particular about how food is cooked, kept talking about how good her food was. I was in the process of writing a 3 star review for this visit because the server 100% messed up my order. I ordered grilled catfish with grilled veggies, he delivered fried catfish with French fries. He was very pleasant about it and brought back a plate of some of the flakiest, tastiest grilled catfish and oh the veggies were so good I could eat a plate of those as a meal. My wife had lengua tacos and they were tender and delicious. The server here is the perfect example of how to turn a visit around because I was not happy but he was engaging and friendly so 3 star to 5 star and he deserves his own star. Made a detour to this restaurant for lunch. I had grilled catfish, vegetables, and salad . I found it to be very good and vegetables sautéed, which I prefer. I would order the dish again. The other member of my party got the chili relleno. She enjoyed the chili relleno and rice. All in all the food was good. Restaurant had a crowd. The enchiladas are delicious (consistently good). Breakfast is one of their best services. Wish they carried more variety of sugar substitutes (only the "pink" stuff). Not a big deal. From the festive decor to the friendly staff down to the perfectly seasoned food, Las Lagunas does everything well. This is not traditional Tex-Mexican that you'll find permeating the area. This is good Mexican like you'd find in the touristy parts of Mexico. Nothing here is dirty or seedy. Everything is bright, colorful, and clean, including the restrooms-a big in my book. The food: The salsa is slightly sweet and spicy enough and the heat develops well, but will not be to much for those who are shy of heat. The guacamole is fresh and had a perfect zing from the garlic. Even my husband, who usually doesn't like guac enjoyed it. The tortillas are all fresh made, including the chips. The rice and beans are equally as good. We shared the queso flameado and loved it. Try it with the provided chips (that are complimentary with your meal despite what a previous review states). You'll thank me later. I had the steak a la Mexicana, a suggestion from our very helpful waiter. I wouldn't have normally selected it, but I'm so glad I did. Perfectly seasoned and you can tell that it Simmered for quite some time to make those flavors meld so beautifully. The hubby had carne asado. It wasn't drenched red sauce like he was expecting. Being at the mercy of our host company to go for lunch, he go to place is Las Lagunas. Making a sharp right from Hwy 181, Las Lagunas is in the middle of nowhere, yet blue collar workers (from plumbers to construction workers) seem to frequent this place from the 3 times we came here and had lunch. The highlight for me here is their tortilla chips. They are fresh, think, and crispy all at the same time and the accompanying salsa is not bad as well. From all the food that I had at Las Lagunas, all were pretty good. The staff was attentive and the décor is Texan authentic. I am glad I had a change to eat here at Las Lagunas. Sometimes, you just won't get to a local food spot unless guided by a local. read more

This place gets an A++ from me just for character and it's out of the box fun decor. The inside looks like a restaurant you would find beach side not a Mexican restaurant in the middle of Texas. The inside is, as you've guessed, a beach theme. Colorul fish, lighthouses, fun signs, fishing rods, reels and more all over the walls. There's even a fish that gets reeled in every time the door is opened and closed. We loved it! We were greeted and seated immediately. The place is quite large and has tables outside on the large front porch as well. It appeared very clean and had a nice menu which included burgers, sandwiches as well as Mexican platters. Service was happy, friendly and quick. My chalupas platter was plated nicely and tasted fresh. It came with beans and rice. Chips and hot sauce were good. The hot sauce was nice and thick. The entire meal was far better than the one we had at the Mexican place down the road...I won't name names... I'm a fan and will be back again! read more

I have recently moved to Floresville. As you can imagine there aren't many options around here. I have learned to have a love hate relationship with this place. The young hispanic hostess who always seems to be working when we go is extremely rude. She clearly does not realize she is in the hospitality customer service industry. Every single time it is clear we are ruining her day by coming in. Once you get passed her the food is actually good! I would not recommend the tamales however everything else is typically hot and tasty! My all time favorite is the soups they offer to include chicken soup, tortilla soup, caldo etc. They definitely need a friendlier hostess and this place would easily be a 4 star. If you are a germaphobe, this place is not for you. Its got tons of eclectic decor that clearly hasn't been dusted in ages! read more

First our chips were hard as a rock and the guacamole we ordered had so much garlic salt in it, I'm still tasting garlic 4 hrs later! Yuck! We move to Floresville recently... Went couple of times to Las Lagunas services is poor it takes to long for food to get to the table. Last time we went during lunch time we were waiting for our drinks... All of the sudden we saw three cockroaches crawling on top of the table.. (If that happens during the day just made me wonder it must be infested at night) when the waitress came we told her and she didn't have an explanation... So we got up and left.... Our waitress constantly checked on us and our empty plates and glasses were collected right away. Our party ordered the Friday Lunch Special of Beef Fajitas. The rice and beans were very well done. Many Mexican restaurants get these two items wrong. The beef fajitas were just right and not greasy. This food tasted like it was prepared in a kitchen not mass produced. We have eaten Mexican food in several places and this ranks with the best that we have ever eaten. The décor was very well done and the ambiance was just right. The geometry of the restaurant made it very easy to walk through and move around. The restrooms were very well laid out and clean. They lost my table's order, we told the owner and he offered no solutions, just said he didn't know how it happened. We go there regularly, but not anymore.
