A visit to San Antonio wouldn't be complete without a stop here. Tonight I think because it was between lunch and dinner, the maggie was extremely frozen. I had to use a knife to soften it up enough to be able to double straw it. The beef puffy tacos as to die for, but watch the ones which want to fall apart from all the juices. We held a funeral luncheon at Teka Molino. Cole was so helpful with the planning, listened to what I wanted, and executed it perfectly! A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders when I found Teka Molino. The food was delicious, when we went to try it and the day of the luncheon. Everyone raved about how good the food and margaritas were! The guacamole, enchiladas with green sauce, chalupas, tacos, beans and rice were all excellent! It was a hit with the whole family. This is a family run business that takes great pride in their delivery. SInce I have eaten at their restaurants on multiple occassions I askEd that they surprise me. They made the puffy taco with the beef fajita meat. Spend the extra money and you will not be disappointed. The thing I love that I find can not be replicated is their corn taste in the tortilla. As a native of San Antonio, I remember the original Teka Molino on Josephine Street. It was always a treat to go there for bean rolls with my grandmother. Whenever I can make it to TM, I do. Nothing brings me back to my childhood like the beanrolls and the guacamole cups! The salsa is specific to this restaurant - love it. Service is order and pick up, the ambience is nothing special. I grew up in Southern California and Teka Molino is hands down the best Mexican food I've had since leaving home 8 years ago. The prices are very fair and portions are awesome. Although there are only red and green salsas available to go with the free chips each salsa is truly amazing. The host at the counter was patient with us as we couldn't easily decided what to order (everything sounds good). We received our food promptly and it was very fresh and monumentally delicious. Teka Molino 2 is well put together with a cohesive design and good music at a reasonable volume. It looks like they have semi-outdoor seating as well; we are looking forward to trying that out in the fall. Shut up and take my money Teka Molino, we'll see you again soon. read more

Teka is our around the corner Tex-Mex spot. We primarily order to go but have eaten at the restaurant a handful of times. Breakfast: The tortillas are homemade and delicious. Like my kiddo orders a tortilla and scarfs it down delicious. Pretty straightforward for breakfast tacos, just make sure to grab some of their green salsa! Lunch/dinner: Best thing on the menu? Definitely the carne guisada. Best carne guisada I've had in the states and is a nice cozy meal on a cold day. I've never tried the puffy tacos but my husband enjoys them. We live close enough that they don't get soggy by the time we are at home eating. We enjoy getting their chips and queso but wish the queso was a little thinned out because it's pretty thick. Maybe it's meant to be cheese dip and I've never read the menu description though! Overall it's a good Tex Mex restaurant that hits the spot every time. read more

Decided to try this place after laying wreaths at Ft. Sam national cemetery. We worked up a pretty good appetite and didn't want to drive too far so we Yelped this place. You order when you walk in then take your number to your table. We all order something different and it was all delicious! My daughters tortilla soup had no meat and so I was skeptical, but to my surprise it was amazing!! My husband ordered the carne guisada and the meat was tender and it's flavor was unique. I figured out its the green chili's they use, so yummy! I had the Plato Mexicano which had one cheese enchilada and two tamales with chili, rice and beans. I enjoyed it all! The rice and beans were ok, not bad, but nothing special. The biggest ding would be no homemade tortillas. They didn't taste bad, but not homemade. Note this review is only for take out. From the brief time I spent picking up my order, the restaurant, in a shopping center at the corner of Rittiman and Wurzbach, appeared up-to-date, clean, and well kept. I have been looking for some good fresh Tex Mex near Fort Sam, so we decided to order take out and give Teka Molino a try. Based on reviews, maybe my expectations were set unreasonably high because I feel let down by what we got. I ordered the chili relleno plate and two puffy tacos. (Figuring if the Relleno was a let down, I could always fall back on a good ol' Satown puffy taco!) The poblano chili could I guess be described as mushy with a very greasy coating of breading on it. Not crisp at all. The beef picadillo was flavorless, so not bad but not good either. The salsa it was smothered in tasted less like salsa and more like canned tomatoes. The flavor was a real let down for me, but this is possibly not the case if you like the milder side of Tex Mex! To be sure, none of the food was gross or inedible. Just not for me. I need flavor and heat. The puffy taco had the same flavorless picadillo, but the veggies were fresh. The puffy shell was a little limp and tasted greasy. I saved one in the fridge for later. Not the best idea! When I got it back out later, the oil from the shell had congealed on bottom side of the taco. read more

Visited the Rittiman location after seeing a feature on Elder eats. The location was clean, staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. We ordered a guacamole cup, green enchiladas, and puffy tacos. All of it was excellent, served warm, fresh and very tasty! The Flavrita was their skinny marg, very good! Overall we were very happy with the service, food, and cleanliness. Glad to have a chance to try this place out. It's in the vicinity of where I live and great place to get my Mexican fix. There's a spacious parking area in the shopping center here so you don't have to worry. I went at lunch on Friday and the it was busy but not packed. You order your food at the register and seat yourself with a number that was given. Drinks, silverware, and sauces are self serve. I got the lunch special of green chile enchiladas for about $8 including tax. It came out hot and fresh with salad, guacamole, rice, and sour cream. Portions were decent. The green salsa on the self serve counter had a good kick to it and overpowered the flavors of the enchiladas. They were spicy and delicious.
