I just got back from Jack's this morning where I had breakfast. I have eaten here before multiple times and found it worth the drive from La Vernia for a tasty traditional breakfast. Not today! The bacon was served burned to a crisp, cold, and left me with the impression that it was made hours ago. The hash browns were also cold, greasy, thin, and with a bit of a rubbery texture. The eggs and the biscuits were good, so they were two starts overall. The cashier who was likely the Manager or owner never asked how everything was when I was paying my tab, so she knew. Don't judge a book by its cover. Jack's restaurant has friendly and fast food servers. I have been here three times and my food was always delicious and well prepared. I am very picky about salads and they are prepared with attention to providing fresh ingredients. If you are visiting Floresville, Jack's serves wonderful home cooking. This is the first review that I Have ever written! Do not order the Fried Catfish!!! Not sure what kind of fish it was but it was not catfish. Soggy, greasy and very mushy not crunchy like one would expect fried catfish to be - overpriced and horrible, ordered green beans and they were cold and tastless. Breakfast served all day on Sunday's (close at 2PM) can't beat that. Apparently Jack's has been open for over a decade which is cool. The staff is super friendly and the menu covers a wide selection of both breakfast and lunch/dinner items. My favorite thing was the breakfast sausage. Huge patties that have a beefy taste to them. They offer Mexican food and I found out that the ladies working the kitchen use to work at the Mexican restaurant down 181, that was destroyed by the 2015 tornado, so I'm assuming its good Tex-Mex. read more

The waitresses were nice! All of them! But I kept seeing how the owners were treating their staff and I can't say that I liked it. I think that to be a good boss you need to not get mad at your staff so they stay happy and wanting to work there. The waitresses seemed to get along with the kitchen staff well and they treated each other with respect. I'll say it now and I'll say it forever. Don't get mad at your staff for a simple mistake. We all make them. Even the owners make mistakes. Being rude to your staff and acting like you don't have to do anything just because you own the place is a mistake. Cooked through, but still stuck together. That's a technique problem, rather than a taste problem. The alfredo sauce was generous, to the point that they served this item in a bowl! One of the only American breakfast places here in Floresville. The staff are superb and hard dedicated workers! The food was subpar but non the less good. Nothing fancy just breakfast. Their salsa for homemade breakfast tacos is very flavorful and the tacos are delicious. We enjoy breakfast here but I have had the bacon cheeseburger, and wow! That's some good stuff. Been here twice, last time stopped during lunch hours and food was great but service was horrible. Thought we would give it another chance since my hubby was in mood for an omelette. Once again, food was very good, but the service really was poor. The waitress walked by, looked at my husbands coffee cup, grabbed the coffee pot and proceeded to the other side of the restaurant to offer others coffee.
