One of the best things about my travels is finding good food. Today I felt like Mexican. Las Lomas is a small place with very good food. The chips and Salsa are addictive, I had Chile Rellano dinner with steak. The mole sauce had just enough heat to feel it but not hide the flavor. The fresh sliced avocado cut through the heat. Everything was well seasoned. Fried Icecream for dessert, the shell was good enough to eat alone. Just enough cinnamon. Great food and very good service. A nice Mexican restaurant middle of a neighborhood. The service was good, it wasn't too busy. Got an appetizer, it was the nacho loco, with steak. It was not that great, the guacamole was old; looks like they prepared it in the morning. The steak was awful, they were large chunks with no flavor, only the burnt taste. For the main entree, it was a torta with steak, served with French fries. The steak was different for this dish, they were cut into smaller pieces and had more flavor. It had the typical toppings, lettuce, tomatoes, sliced advocate and refried beans on the bread. It was a pretty good sandwich, it could have been better. read more

Great choice for Mexican just south of downtown! Las Lomas is located just off Fairfield, and if you aren't looking for it you could probably miss it! The outside of the building is a golden color and when you walk inside you will find authentic Mexican decor. There is plenty of seating and a bar area if you just want to grab a cold marg or beer. The staff is always attentive, bringing chips to your table right away and taking your order in a timely manner. Margaritas are fantastic and easy on the wallet. A few of my favorites from the menu include the California burrito and the chicken fajitas. I always make sure I order a side of guacamole, as well! Food is delivered fast and hot. Social distancing for Covid? Nope. No tables blocked off. Traffic was light, but three booths in a row were occupied when we were there. Staff was friendly and attentive as always, but not wearing the State recommended masks for Covid-19. Food was fine, and deserving of better than a 3 star. But, Covid 19 precautions were not taken other than a bottle of sanitizer at the front counter. I won't be back until they make changes to protect their clients. read more

Las Lomas was your typical FW Mexican restaurant. Bright colors. Mexican decor. Despite their efforts, the musty smell that greets you promptly at the door overrides your hope for a really good experience. I just wanted to try the place out so I got cheese dip, frozen margarita and a Chile relleno. The chips and salsa were decent. The same that you get at most restaurants. I really enjoyed the queso though. It was creamy, hot and rich. It was very tasty. And upon first sight of the relleno, I was disappointed because the cheese on the outside wasnt melted and it looked soggy and sad. But as I tried a bite, I liked it. The red sauce poured over it was flavorful and had depth. The cheese inside tasted like mozzarella and it was a pretty good dish. My margarita had a very strong flavor. It didn't taste well made but if your looking for a strong tequila flavor, this won't disappoint. Service: Lacking. My waitress seemed like she didn't want to be at work on this particular day. The manager was friendly and helpful. Would I return? Possibly for carryout of that queso or the Border Nachos which looked good. I wouldn't dine in again... Ever. read more

Las Lomas is just south of the heart of downtown and catercorner from the historic Fairfield Manor. The decor is nice and definitely has an authentic Mexican feel, without feeling hole in the wall-ish. The price point to me is a smidge more pricey compared to other similar Mexican spots around the city. We all started off with margaritas. They were good! No complaints there. But our service was bad. Not good at all. I went to the restroom right when we arrived and when I came back the server was leaning on my chair and she rudely did not move for me to sit down and then looked at me for my drink order. Like hello, I have not even sat down yet. We had a few friends joining us but we went ahead and ordered. I ordered the chimichanga de la casa. Theirs was different from others I have had - it had chorizo mixed in with your choice of meat and it didn't seem like many if any sauted veggies. But I ate it and enjoyed it. It was serviced with a side of beans, rice, lettuce, sour cream, pico, and guac. All the favs. Our server consistently disappeared. I had to go to the hostess stand twice and flag down other servers. There is nothing I hate more than bad service and my friends that regular the place mentioned her horrible service is a regular thing. Overall, it was a great meal and great drinks just really need better service. I would say its a 3.5/5. read more

This restaurant has gone way downhill within the last few years. Don't advertise Coke on the menu if you don't serve Coke products! So your coffee machine is broken... Run out and get a new one to satisfy your customers!What's the stringy stuff I found my salsa...hoping it's only cilantro. Get your shot-out (a few months ago) window fixed...not good curb appeal. Oh and your sign on the outside of your building needs to resemble the same name of the restaurant. read more

So I was trying to find some amazing BBQ place that you folks rave about but the GPS farted and I decided to stop at La Loma. When I was greeted in Spanish, I thought it might be a good place. When the pasty irish guy responded in Spanish, they must have freaked a bit. I sat at the bar and was promptly asked for my drink order. They have some great specials on domestic draft but I went with Dos Equis. After a bit of chit chat with the friendly bartender, I asked her opinion. Carnitas o Enchiladas? She paused and said both were great but since this was my only time there, I should go with the Carnitas. My dish followed shortly and the smell from the carnitas was amazing. It was complimented with beans and rice and ample cilantro, onion and jalepeño. They have an amazing picante sausa that you need to ask for and I would highly recommend that you do. Great service, authentic mexican and $20 bucks for the dish, large beer and a tip. Dont pass it by. read more

Honestly, my husband and I went there as a last ditch resort. It was a Sunday and we found out that another popular restaurant was closed, and their other chain location, and a taco place on Broadway. Entry way is kind of weird but we didn't stay there long. We were seated right away. Waited a tic for the server to come but not to long. Decent sized menu with the usual suspects. I ordered fancy fajitas with all the meats and cheese on top and my husband ordered carne asada. Chips were fresh and the salsa was excellent. Food came in a timely manner. My husband LOVED the carne asada. My fajitas were out of this world. The chorizo in the mix was absolutely perfect. This was a happy discovery for both of us. We will definitely be back! read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant going into it. Very colorful. Friendly staff. Nice menus. The chips and salsa were legit. I ordered the seafood chimichanga, because it was one of the only items on the menu that offered guacamole with it (guacamole as a dip was $6 and we had already ordered the beef & queso... didn't want to double down on dips. lol.). It had little tiny shrimps and crabmeat in it, and I couldn't tell you if it was imitation or not--so I count that as a win! Unfortunately the guacamole that came with it was like...a teaspoon and though it was boasted on the menu as being house made, it was CRAZY salty. Like, might as well have eaten salt out of the shaker. Otherwise the food was pretty standard Mexican restaurant thoroughfare. But we just couldn't get our head around this really awful smell we kept smelling. At first it wasn't super bothersome, but it got worse over the course of our visit. I still couldn't tell you what it was, but we had a minor clue when one of us went to the restroom and the tiles were SQUISHING into the floor beneath it. BUT we didn't get sick from eating there. This place is pretty popular, and the service is pretty quick with takeout. It's a pretty decent sized place on the inside. I really like the enchiladas, burritos, and tamales. I usually get chicken and steak, which is a bit chewy, but I like the consistency of it. Today, I ended up getting the Las Lomas Dinner. It came with five items. I wasn't too into the tacos and chalupa because they were just simple flour and crunchy corn tortillas. They were kind of plain, though some might be into that. The stuffed pepper was super cheesy. Again, I am not into a ton of cheese; nonetheless, the sauce was great and I will go back to try other items. I have been here many times before. The food is always good and the staff has always been friendly. The only drawback is that the menu has changed and so did their prices. It's a little more expensive then I remember the last time being here, that being said the food is good and the service friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Since Yelp defines three stars as A-OK I absolutely could not go there without feeling I'd let down my fellow Yelpers. Las Lomas isn't A-OK, unfortunately. The atmosphere is A-OK, but the food is closer to "Eek, methinks not!" (Yelp's one star rating). The salsa was bland and the entrees, one of which was a "spicy" shrimp dish, was equally bland. In fact, I can honestly say there wasn't a single genuinely tasty morsel of food on our table. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible, it was just... a bunch of very uninspired carbs, sprinkled with a little fat. I've encountered my share of excellent Tex Mex over the years, and this stuff was barely worthy of the name. If you're half starving and on the verge of collapse, maybe try this place. Otherwise, roll the dice somewhere else, or just save most of your cash and go Taco Bell (which is actually slightly better). read more

I LOVE Las Lomas! (Coliseum Blvd. and Lake Ave). They have daily specials that include your drink in very large glasses and are refilled. The chips are tasty and non greasy and come with bean dip and salsa. The entrees are large and most include rice and beans. If you're hungry, this is the place to be, because you won't leave that way! The service has always been good, but if mistakes are made, they are quick to rectify. Absolutely terrible service. The waitress was very unattentive, and the manager, even worse. When BROUGHT concerns about food preparation and dining safety concerns, he totally brushed me off. Terrible service, terrible management, and they even leave bay leaves in their food. That's a choking hazard, and when brought up to management, he had nothing to say. Came here for a late lunch with my husband and son. We were the only ones in the place. The restaurant is decorated nicely, but has a sort of musty odor. Service was good. We all ordered lunch specials. The taco was large and tasted good, the beans were a bit watery and rice tasted nice. The fillings of the beef burrito and beef enchilada were liquidy. I expected a filling of ground beef and spices, but it was more of a runny sauce with some meat. It tasted ok, but I have had a lot better. Salsa was good and tasted fresh. I probably would not go out of my way to go here again, as there are tons of Mexican restaurants that are closer to my work and where I live. When my husband and I were attending school nearby, a friend told us about Las Lomas, and it became a regular date night spot. It was satisfying, affordable, and fun. We don't go there much anymore, but that's merely because we're all the way across town now. The service and food were always fabulous, even if the parking lot was a hazard. My husband loved the killer burrito (because it meant he didn't have to choose between two of his culinary passions--Mexican and fries), or the Extreme Fajita Quesadilla. I'd frequently order the Hurache or the Chimichangas Fajita. They were always delicious! read more
