The pickled onions and sauce inside the quesadilla are delicious!! I particularly like the house salads. They are very fresh and attractive. Plenty of side veggies and crunchy/boldly garlic flavored croutons. I tried the Thai ginger dressing this time. I loved the mild flavors. You could pick up the hints of peanut sauce and ginger coming through. It is moderate in consistency and delicious! I've never had their Mac & cheese so we gave it a try. A nice thick and creamy white cheese sauce. The cavatappi style noodles were perfectly cooked! The cheese stuck to the noodles beautifully. The cheese sauce was so tasty that you almost wanted to like the bowl. On this trip I went with the wings and dry rub seasoning. Nothing else on the menu appealed to me that visit. I got six small to medium sized wings in this order. The insides were fully white without being tough or dry. The skin was a bit crunchy so I'm sure they were fried. The dry rub has a mild traditional BBQ flavor. The wings were really coated in dry rub. I don't think there was a speck of skin showing through. At times I felt like I was eating more dry rub than chicken. The rub comes off very salty - which I liked. It didn't have an after taste burn - which I also liked. The BBQ was pleasant and flavorful to taste. The volume of rub was just a bit overwhelming - at least to me.

But then you're presented with this shiny chandelier, illuminating this wide chamber, and hovering over a smooth, curved bar. The sides of this huge dining space are lined with dining tables, and walls lined with artwork, making the name quite appropriate. Subtle haloes of light dot the ceiling, and the color palette of the place (besides that big ol' chandelier) is dark, cool, and easy on the eyes. I took a seat at the main bar and was served within minutes. I enjoyed some light pop, rap, and classic rock tunes bumping in the background while I sipped on a delightful Smoked Apple Reserve. Every sip was a punch of sweetness, followed by an air of smokiness, and just a splash of herby aftertaste. It was however, not the kind of drink you could chug, so I sipped slowly throughout my meal. I'll have to come back for the appetizers, as I hear they're the star of the show, but neither the flatbreads nor the traditional bar-fare excited me. Thanks to Yelp though, I learned of the Blueberry and Brie Grilled Cheese, which I'd initially dismissed due to my dislike of Brie - the cheese and her portrayal of Captain Marvel, let's be honest. But I gave it a chance and ~woah~ it was something else. First of all, it's a perfectly cooked grilled cheese, with a flaky, crunchy exterior and addictingly cheesy inside, however I was ~taken aback~ by the flavor. I think I honestly had a Ratatouille moment, where that flavor of berry compote transported me to my childhood, chowing down on blueberry pancakes on Friday morning before school. At the same time, it doesn't dominate the flavor profile - it adds a subtle and satisfying sweetness to the creamy richness of the melted Brie, and it does it oh so well. The plentiful pieces of proscuitto provided some palatable protein, while also being a contrast in flavor and feel to the Berry and Brie. The fries were a little heavy on the straight potato flavor and not so much on seasoning and salt, but some garlic aioli did the trick there. The service was superb and the atmosphere was nothing like I've experienced in this city. I didn't expect to love this place as much as I did, but I can't wait to come back to try more apps, drinks, and return to that beautiful blueberry and brie...

I don't eat lengua, so it went untouched. I'll include the receipt and a picture of the "carnitas taco" so you can see for yourself. On top of that, they charged $6.50 for what was basically two tablespoons of hot salsa . Very bad service. I won't be coming back and would not recommend this place

I loved the Cuban flavors, unique food items and the variety of tacos. Everyone loves tacos and The Hoppy Gnome did (still does, only 4 versions now) them well. However...after about a half dozen visits...I got bored with the same offerings. On line posters and most frequent customers (according to the manager) tend to favor the old menu. I, personally, found the change very refreshing and delicious! I will be back as there are lots of new things to try! The Hoppy Gnome is located downtown on the southeast side of the court house. You can park in the Citizens Center parking lot for free after 5pm. It is safe and right across the street from The Gnome. Making a reservation is easy on Open Table. I would suggest you do that versus walking in. The inside is still appealing with the bright and colorful industrial decor. They have a large private seating area for parties. They also have a street side outdoor patio. We sat outside on this summer evening. The area is spacious with solid high table furniture. People watching is fun but the traffic can be really loud at times. The new menu has a much broader appeal and less emphasis on Cuban only items. You will find lots of appetizer choices. Salads, burgers, flatbreads, pasta, seafood and chicken dishes are available. There are a decent number of specialty entrees and four varieties of tacos. All items pretty reasonably priced. Here is a run down on the food we ordered: -Chicken Flatbread: the crust was a little thicker than a normal thin crust and very soft; the manager said they really researched out this crust to fit their style; lots of delicious grilled chicken and toppings; very tasty! -Miso Honey Wings: 8 medium sized wings that are grilled and dipped; slightly crunchy skins; all white color on the inside but perhaps a little over cooked as the wing meat was tough and a bit dry; very unique sauce - very thick, sticky and rich in consistency; mild amount of sweetness and teriyaki flavors. The manager says about 70% of the people that order wings get the Miso Honey sauce. This dish was very good also! -Side salad: nice sized side salad; very fresh and attractive; no iceberg lettuce here - real greens; nice garnishment of carrots, cucumbers and roasted red peppers The team here was very friendly and professional - per normal. They hustled to serve. We particularly enjoyed sharing our experience with the manager and getting insight on the changes. Give the new menu a try for yourself!!
