Update; We ordered take out this time vs dining in and it was just as fabulous. Tacos de Birria platter never disappoints.

Delicious burrito with a spicy red sauce.

This location used to be Kaysans for the longest time and then The Job Site for a hot minute. As many Mexican restaurants there are in FW, this area didn't have a go-to. It still has a bit of a sports bar vibe when you walk in and is a very open area with a bar area. The Manager was very attentive when we arrived and gave us a few recommendations. Service was attentive and the salsa had a nice kick. As you know, the Mexican options in FW have to be top notch or won't last. The menu was quite extensive and prices were right in line. I thought the red sauce on my burrito had just the right amount of heat....finally a local place that kicks up the heat without having to ask. The sauces for my wife's tacos also had some heat along with good flavor. I'm hoping Sol De Mexico does well and finds some regular traffic. We'll be back, just based on service and the other eye catching entrees

545 star yes it's called five star if that's what it supposed be supposed to be called exactly so yeah

My husbands birthday was on a Sunday and loves Mexican. I searched Bib Gourmand recipients and came across Sol De Mexico and booked a table for Sunday at 5pm. When we arrived we were the only table. We were immediately welcomed by Chef Tello and he gave us some recommendations and took our orders for the mango margarita, passionfruit margarita and Mezcalli Rita. The fruity ones were very sweet, which I love, and my hubby took a second Mezcalli, which he loved. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with paintings brought in from Mexico and wonderful lighting. The service was impeccable and super friendly, a little later (after the Bears game finished) other patrons arrived and I could see they received the same treatment, so this wasn't because we were the only guests. We started with the ceviche; OMG the level of taste surpasses any ceviche I have ever had. It had a slight warmth that hits right at the end and tingles the tastebuds and was beautifully presented. We also shared the Sopes Surdito, the Chicken mole and the plantain were my personal favorites but honestly who doesn't love guac and the black bean was delicious. Another good choice. Looking through the menu took some time, as it all seemed so delicious it was tough to choose. I went for the Duck in mole; words cannot express the depth of flavor in this mole! Duck was cooked perfectly. Gorgeous. Hubby chose the lamb in mole negro. I literally wiped the plate with the beautiful home made tortillas and demolished it. Thankfully he was kind enough to let us try and again, it was superb, Our son chose the Molcajete surtido, that dish arrived and stole the show! A rich tasting broth with perfectly cooked chicken, fish and veggies that arrived bubbling and steaming. It was huge! There was no way we were going to manage dessert, but hubby insisted on the goat milk caramel crepes. I managed one bite; the caramel was delightful. Throughout the meal, the staff were attentive, and chef checked in when he wasn't cooking. I like to take my time over meals, and this was perfect. I would say do not miss the ceviche and definitely have a mole dish! We will be back, what a find!

Hopefully, this place will last, unlike 5th Down and Jobsite. I really like this place and the location. Love the new look and colors. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Loved the margaritas! The margaritas were only $8 and very tasty! I thought a $8 Margarita would be weak, but these were strong! I could only handle 2 of them! The salsa was amazing! The salsa was thin and delicious, but unfortunately, the chips were thick and cold. I like hot, thin chips with my salsa. The bathroom could use a remodel. I do love that they had different things on the tvs. I'm definitely going back to try the seafood burrito!!!

Eating in the front area...especially in the open area is really unpleasant. It's loud. The TV's are loud. You can't talk and enjoy the conversation. On this trip...we dinned in the "back" room. What a difference! The noise level was minimal. We asked the waitress to turn down the volume and she did. This allowed us to enjoy our conversation and dinner. Great job done by our waitress Zhoee. She was patient, professional, friendly and very helpful to the older members of our party. She was responsive to the loud speakers we were asked to turn them down. Zhoee kept the refills coming while serving us well!! We started started with the Cuban quesadillas. This is really a MUST try. The meat is very flavorful. The pickled onions and sauce inside the quesadilla are delicious!! I particularly like the house salads. They are very fresh and attractive. Plenty of side veggies and crunchy/boldly garlic flavored croutons. I tried the Thai ginger dressing this time. I loved the mild flavors. You could pick up the hints of peanut sauce and ginger coming through. It is moderate in consistency and delicious! I've never had their Mac & cheese so we gave it a try. A nice thick and creamy white cheese sauce. The cavatappi style noodles were perfectly cooked! The cheese stuck to the noodles beautifully. The cheese sauce was so tasty that you almost wanted to like the bowl. On this trip I went with the wings and dry rub seasoning. Nothing else on the menu appealed to me that visit. I got six small to medium sized wings in this order. The insides were fully white without being tough or dry. The skin was a bit crunchy so I'm sure they were fried. The dry rub has a mild traditional BBQ flavor. The wings were really coated in dry rub. I don't think there was a speck of skin showing through. At times I felt like I was eating more dry rub than chicken. The rub comes off very salty - which I liked. It didn't have an after taste burn - which I also liked. The BBQ was pleasant and flavorful to taste. The volume of rub was just a bit overwhelming - at least to me.

Wife had steak and pasta and I had jambalaya. Hers was nice but mine tasted ok. Sausage ok but the sliced chicken which was strange. Like deli style. Appetizers were ricotta cheese and a steak egg roll. Both ok. Dessert was a toll house cookie topped with ice cream. Disappointed there. $120 for two was a bit much. Left $20 tip.

She made great recommendations and helped us decide based on our time constraints. She was attentive and gave us a lot of information about the food, live music, DJ and art for sale on all the walls. We weren't super hungry, so we tried the flatbread - sooo good. I will be back because the whole menu, including the drinks, sound wonderful. They offered zero spirit, GL and other substitutions if needed which is nice. The atmosphere has a moody, darker hang out vibe to it. I loved it and can't wait to bring some friends and family back! She recommended reservations on the weekends, especially on "First Fridays" as that's when they do events and an art crawl on Broadway when the weather is nice. We parked on the street in front of the building so I'm not sure if there is a parking lot. They do have outdoor seating as well in the front of the building. I remember when this location was a food co-op waaaaaaay back in the day. They did a great job transforming it into a relaxing bar and restaurant. We will go back and I highly recommend you check it out!

Upon entrance, I was dazzled by the Abstract. I honestly wasn't prepared for an automatic sliding…read moredoor, and anyone who witnessed me coming in could clearly tell. But then you're presented with this shiny chandelier, illuminating this wide chamber, and hovering over a smooth, curved bar. The sides of this huge dining space are lined with dining tables, and walls lined with artwork, making the name quite appropriate. Subtle haloes of light dot the ceiling, and the color palette of the place (besides that big ol' chandelier) is dark, cool, and easy on the eyes. I took a seat at the main bar and was served within minutes. I enjoyed some light pop, rap, and classic rock tunes bumping in the background while I sipped on a delightful Smoked Apple Reserve. Every sip was a punch of sweetness, followed by an air of smokiness, and just a splash of herby aftertaste. It was however, not the kind of drink you could chug, so I sipped slowly throughout my meal. I'll have to come back for the appetizers, as I hear they're the star of the show, but neither the flatbreads nor the traditional bar-fare excited me. Thanks to Yelp though, I learned of the Blueberry and Brie Grilled Cheese, which I'd initially dismissed due to my dislike of Brie - the cheese and her portrayal of Captain Marvel, let's be honest. But I gave it a chance and ~woah~ it was something else. First of all, it's a perfectly cooked grilled cheese, with a flaky, crunchy exterior and addictingly cheesy inside, however I was ~taken aback~ by the flavor. I think I honestly had a Ratatouille moment, where that flavor of berry compote transported me to my childhood, chowing down on blueberry pancakes on Friday morning before school. At the same time, it doesn't dominate the flavor profile - it adds a subtle and satisfying sweetness to the creamy richness of the melted Brie, and it does it oh so well. The plentiful pieces of proscuitto provided some palatable protein, while also being a contrast in flavor and feel to the Berry and Brie. The fries were a little heavy on the straight potato flavor and not so much on seasoning and salt, but some garlic aioli did the trick there. The service was superb and the atmosphere was nothing like I've experienced in this city. I didn't expect to love this place as much as I did, but I can't wait to come back to try more apps, drinks, and return to that beautiful blueberry and brie...
