Very nice first experience here. I parked in front of Fresh Market, looked up and saw Tequila Mexican Restaurant. I took a quick look at the Yelp reviews and decided to order carry out for lunch. I ordered a chimichanga with tofu, and a side of queso blanco. It isn't often that I see tofu on the menu at a Mexican restaurant so I was curious about it. It was excellent! The queso blanco was smooth and creamy with great flavor. The rice was flavorful but the beans were very salty. There are many vegetarian options here, more than most Mexican restaurants. The patio is large and beautiful. There were many people taking advantage of this warm and sunny early spring afternoon dining on the patio. The patio features approximately 20 tables, including several larger tables. Although I took my order to go this time I will plan to return with a group of friends to enjoy dining on the patio. read more

The atmosphere is modern with the classic Mexican restaurant vibes, though the music can get a little loud at times. The food is always excellent and served promptly, no matter what time of day you visit. The wait staff is friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. We dined here on a Sunday afternoon, the patio was closed because it is the middle of January. Upon walking in I noticed that this is the cleanest Mexican restaurant I have been too. I actually think it's the decor that gives off that vibe. The decor is more toned down and doesn't incorporate all the bright colors you normally see at a Mexican cantina. There were four of us and we were sat promptly. Our waitress was quick to greet us and take our drink orders. She was friendly and made small talk while she served us. Now on to the food- the menu had a lot of different items that you don't see on the typical Mexican restaurant menu. I wanted to try them all but settled on the Barria tacos. They are good but they are greasy ( they are supposed to be tha way). You get three of them and the come with broth for dipping and hot sauce. I only finished 1 and a half because I had quite a few of the complimentary chips and salsa and the tacos were stuffed with alot of meat. My nephew got the same thing I got, they are his favorite. My husband got the chicken Souza enchiladas. I forgot to try some but he enjoyed them. He ate half of his whole meal and took the rest home. My niece got the Barria quesadilla, I think I would recommend getting these over the Barria tacos because they were easier to eat and didn't fall apart slightly when you handle them. I'm not the biggest fan of Mexican food to begin with so coming here was definitely out of my normal restaurant choice, but I rallied for a birthday in my party. The service was great and food and drinks all arrived in a timely manner. I would highly recommend trying any flavor of their lemonade! We received chips and salsa immediately after sitting down and since we arrived shortly after their open at 11a, we were taken care of very quickly. I ordered the ground beef quesadilla which was pretty much like any average quesadilla. The Mexican rice was fantastic, though, and probably some of the best I've ever had. I appreciated the food being warm and served extremely fast! The menu is HUGE and it was nice to have plenty of options. Our server was friendly and kind and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. All in all, for someone who's first choice wouldn't be Mexican, I had a good experience here with the food, service, and atmosphere. Staff was fantastic this place set a high bar for excellence. We were there about 515-530. Ish. We were a party of 9. They only took like 2 minutes to get us set up for a table. I was in town visiting friend and we wanted Mexican food. They had never been here either so we all were going in blindly. It seems like your typical Mexican restaurant. The service is okay at best. The food was done really fast that we all looked at each other and questioned it. I definitely think they have the food sitting in warmers. I ordered fajitas a there was no sizzle or heat at all. In fact, my rice was warmer than the chicken and veggies for my fajitas. I ordered a pineapple mojito and that was good, but not really worth the money. They offer chips and salsa complimentary- but it needs some more spice. It's so mild that it's boring. Their cheese dip is also quite literally just melted white cheese, no peppers, no seasoning- just plain and boring. This was a 3.5 experience. The service from start to finish was amazing. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. There is ample seating: booths, tables, and bar seating. The decor is full of brown and wood tones. The booths are deep and comfortable with tall backs to allow for privacy, which I love. They have outdoor patio seating when the weather and season is appropriate. There are lights strung to allow for a peaceful and energetic vibe for outside dining. The food has excellent flavor. First time visit today for lunch. Tried the quesabirria tacos. Picked rice as a side. Tacis (2) was nicely portioned with the cheese and the beef. Had a very good flavor plus plenty of food. Service was rapid as was food delivery. Only issue is what most midwestern Mexican restaurants tend to do is to tamp down the spices. Since Mexican food is typically fast, we decided on Tequila Mexican Restaurant as I've eaten here once before when my boss came into town. My wife got the margarita flight and loved all 3 flavors she chose. For lunch, we both got faijatas, she got chicken (but came as steak unfortunately) and I got chicken/shrimp combo. My wife didn't want to wait even longer so she just kept the steak as we've always found steak at Mexican places is usually too chewy. Thankfully hers was not too bad. I REALLY adore the Picadittas. They are three little rounds of masa, topped with red or green sauce, then beans, sour cream, onions, cilantro, slice of radish, your choice of protein with sides of rice and salsa. I have had the chicken, shredded beef and the ground beef. Although I usually go for shredded beef or chicken in Mexican dishes, these just seem to taste better with ground beef. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere is cheery. My own personal preference is to not have the music so loud, but that's just me. I bring earplugs. read more

But the salsa was not good to me, unfortunately. The chunks of onions overpowered the flavor, and the chips were cold and too thick for my liking. I dislike nothing more than cold tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant. If I wanted cold chips, I could open my own bag of tortilla chips at home, lol. The menudo was hot and fresh but it lacked all of the toppings - it was just cow stomach and broth. The menudo lacked flavor. Went here for a Monday night dinner to celebrate a birthday. The food was great! We got a veggie quesadilla and chicken enchiladas. The portions are pretty big and got us very full! We asked for some hot salsa on the side and it was VERY spicy. The mango margarita was really yummy as well. Got it with a tajin rim. It was also pretty strong! The service was alright. Not many times when the servers came to check on us which would've been nice since we were wanting to request the spicy salsa for a while. The restaurant itself is pretty nice. Not sure how to feel about Tequila. We were seated in a super sunny spot on the patio and asked to move. It seemed, after that, that were we punished for not wanting to roast in the sun. The waters came out quickly. That was the best part, to be honest. The margarita flight was watery, as the ice seemed to have melted waiting for them to be brought to our table. The drinks also seemed to have overflowed into their wells, and dripped the residuals through the iron mesh table onto my legs. That guava one sure was tasty, but left a pink stain on my jeans... overall I'd give them 6/10. I tried the Guava, Jalapeño, and Mangonada. Probably would have been better if they hadn't sat. I had to chill them with ice from my water. I had fajitas, which were SO SALTY. Not much flavor other than salt. They also were not too hot. Fajitas usually are sizzling on their iron pan but these were not. I was given only 3 tortillas. The leftovers were not worth bringing home. 3/10 We waited 45 minutes I KID YOU NOT for the check. And then about 15 for it to be picked up. Inlaid with cash because no way would I wait for the card to be brought back to me. 0/10 Crowd was nice, mix of families, couples, and groups. We've been hitting the Mexican food scene in FW for over two decades. One thing in FW that you'll need to succeed is good food and fast efficient service in order to compete with the other Mexican based establishments. We heard good things about Tequila, but just haven't made it out SW yet. Man, were we missing something! My first impression was that the restaurant was enormous, but seemed to be running smoothly on a busy Saturday night. My wife tried the margarita flight and I had the tequila flight. Both were tasty, but it would be nice if they would tell you which sampler you're getting. I had 4 different tequila samples, but none of them were marked. The queso dip with chorizo and the chips and salsa were some of the best in the city. My wife had the burri tacos and said they were quite good, with only El Taquero edging them out. I had the shrimp and beef burrito. Both meals were fresh tasting and unique in flavor. In fact, the whole menu had some items you don't see in the FW Mexican food circle. These are serious the best tacos you'll ever eat. I lived in California for 10 years, and I've eaten way more tacos than the average person. Quesabirria Tacos - Most flavorful and delicious birria you'll find. It's very filling. I get through one taco, and I'm done. I suggest splitting tacos with whomever you're with. There's a smoky salsa you can skip if you dont like smoky flavors, since the consomme is the star anyways. 5/5 stars. Shrimp Tacos - The best shrimp tacos I've had (that isn't baja fried style). The sauce is citrusy and perfect for seafood. You can eat all 3 without feeling like you over ate. 5/5 stars. Cochinita Pibil Tacos - Very authentic and delicious. The salsa was way too spicy for my taste, so I used the free salsa that comes with the chips. The boyfriend loved it, but he can handle spicy. I'm more of a medium spice girl. Either salsa is good with it. 5/5 stars. Al Pastor Tacos - Shredded pork tacos that were perfectly balanced. I'm not used to shredded pork, because I've only had it sliced in California. Still a good choice. 5/5 stars. Everything here has been delicious. It's very authentic, and the service is very nice. You won't find better tacos than here. Highly recommend. read more

They didn't get it right. I ate half of it. The rice is different from every other Mexican restaurant in Fort Wayne. It was... I don't know. It just wasn't great. The beans were almost sour. We did enjoy their chips, salsa, and queso! The server was attentive and polite and the food did come out pretty quickly. Especially considering how many people were there. I am from Southern California as is my family here. We all agreed that the catered food was delivered professionally and timely, the delivery and set-up was respectful and diligent and the food was very, very good.
