Lunch specials are the bomb! My family comes here regularly and is greeted by name when they visit. This is the first time in years that I've returned to the restaurant with my family. Quite honestly it's a hidden gem. The restaurant was fairly busy on arrival today but it was only a ten minute wait. Being that my family is so regular the host was super apologetic and did everything in her power to get us sat. Shout out to the host who's name I don't have because my father is terrible with names. There is a lunch special that ends at 3pm and the portions are HUGE. The beef fajita plate is a 9/10. So good. The fajita is so tender and tasty. Just an FYI - my father believes it's even tastier when it's ordered in the quesadilla. My brother always goes for the green enchiladas and adds an extra enchilada because it's just that good. My mother ordered the Vallarta special - chicken tostada paired with a green enchilada. Each plate that was ordered was super filling and tasty. While the restaurant was busy the service was quick and pleasant. The restaurant doesn't play any music but is nicely decorated. The outdoor patio is "instagram-able" but unfortunately it was cold and rainy today so didn't want to photograph it. Worth a visit! read more

Update: Remember I noted food was lightly warm. I ended up getting sick and battling diarrhea from Saturday lunch and still happening on Sunday. Bathroom every hour with minor vomiting. This has been my to go restaurant for years but the experience today was not pleasant. The waitress seem new and very overwhelmed. She messed up quite a few times but we were all patience with her. When it was time to pay, it's obvious she didn't know what she was doing. I paid but never got a receipt, I asked for one and realized I was overcharged. When asked to be refunded, waitress tried paying me from her tips, I told her it wasn't right and needed a refund receipt or voided or whatever. She continued by telling me that I had my money and it wasn't use. I asked for the manager, she spoke with him and he didn't seem to care because he never came by and sent her back with another receipt, where I'm charged again. She tried paying me from her tips again. She asked me, why was I making a big deal. I told her I shouldn't have been overcharged and she shouldn't be refunding me from her tips. She needed to void it in the system and said it couldn't be done once I paid. I still ended up overpaying by $5 even after she refunded me from her tips because she either she didn't know how to fix or didn't want to fix it and manager didn't seem to care. I don't blame her, I blame the person in charged. read more

I've been to both Jalisco's now, and somehow, this Jalisco tastes worse than the Buda location.... The pricing for food is about on average, but the actual taste of the meal itself... yikes. Like most patrons have concluded, the food is bland. I've ordered from both the breakfast (by the way, served all day) and lunch menus, but no matter how you spin it, there is no seasoning or salt/pepper added in either. I love coming here, the food is top notch, very fresh. It use to be very affordable, but their new menu their prices have gone up and it's very $$$ now. I get inflation and things going up, but they have raised the prices so much compared to before. Chips and salsa are fresh and delicious, definitely a favorite and must enjoy. Margaritas aren't as tasty and not very strong for the price so thumbs down. They have also started using smaller glasses compared to before, so you get less and still pay the premium price. Service is great, they are super nice, fast and attentive. The locations is perfect, the ambiance is very pleasant and makes for a nice evening out. The food, prices went up but the food quality has also. Their food is delicious and well worth the visit! If you want traditional Mexican food in Austin; this is one of the places to come! We are in Austin doing some house hunting and we were invited by family to have an early dinner here. I didn't pick the place and I didn't look at any reviews before heading there. I read reviews after the fact and was a little surprised at the overall rating and some of the poor reviews. First off, service was very good all the way through. Water, chips, salsa all brought to the table immediately. The menu has some good selections. I went off the traditional Mexican dish to try their grilled tilapia, we've been eating on the run a lot lately so the vegetable side sounded good. The rice, veggies, and grilled fish were delicious. I hate filling up on chips and salsa but I have to say, even those were very good. I threw that in late because I kept adding the salsa to my dish because it was that good. My wife had the mole enchiladas and I know they were good because she never offered me any! We had six people in the group and all the dishes looked good. Tortillas were plentiful and refilled mid way through. We had beers that were ice cold. We got there just before the dinner rush, it was really busy as we were leaving. 5 stars on a first visit for hitting all the important areas of service, quality, quantity, and a very good overall experience. read more

Went during the 25% opening. Not many customers were masked up coming in or walking around. Our server wore her mask with her nose sticking out occasionally. Food wise, the steak fajitas for two were good. The hot sauce has a good strong kick, and the chips aren't thin so they do not break when you scoop for a healthy dip of salsa. Margaritas tasted good, but I had two and wasn't buzzed at all (after not eating all day). All in all, I'm thankful this place allowed us to be seated, but the clientele gave a rip with wearing masks coming in the restaurant and walking to their tables. read more

They used to have good food, not anymore. The taco shell was stale. The tamale was all dough, very little meat. The enchilada was so thin, had no cheese. All the food was tasteless. The best part was the chips. Had to wait 15 minutes for my meal. I wasted my time and money. This used to be my favorite place. Sorry to see it go down hill. My better half got a mixed plate, it came with a crunchy taco ( in build it yourself style), an enchilada and he subbed in a chalupa for a taquito at no extra charge. We both had 2 margs with floaters and our bill was less than $50. The salsa is spicy and I liked it!! We didn't dive into any apps because we planned on stuffing our faces for real.
