Don't get me wrong the food was delicious on my burrito. I did say no guacamole and somehow I still got guacamole. I told him no guacamole and I still got guacamole. The service was despicable. waited an 1 1/2 for food. 30 minutes for drinks. the waiters were so rude and unhelpful. then they charged us for tips we didn't agree to because clearly I am not tipping for such a disgrace. when you paid cash they charged a card fee. charged us for drinks we didn't order. when confronted about everything they were trying to make excuses for reasons why we had to pay how they wanted. We've been coming here for years. Typically 3-4 times a month. Service, food etc is usually good. BUT the last few times has been a different story. The protein portion sizes has been sad!! I took the family there when they were visiting from Illinois and everyone loved it. One of the best margaritas that I have ever had and at a very reasonable price. My husband and I tried to eat there on a Sunday at 5pm. The hostess and our waitress really pushed the the buffet. So that's what we ordered. There was nothing on the Buffett that was hot. Not even warm more like cold. The waitress ignored us. We went to talk to the manager. She pretended not to understand what we were saying. My husband told her that all the food we tried on the buffet was cold. She wanted to know how much we ate. Because she was still going to charge us. The manger said that we did eat something. We ended up paying her $5. Two hours later after I got home I was sick. It was food poisoning. I called the health inspector the next morning and filed a complaint. Our server was the best part of this visit. The food was average and the overall condition of the restaurant looked like no one really cared. When we entered the outdoor seating area there was food scraps and used napkins on the ground, chairs all over the place and crumbs on the tables. I could go on about the appearance (which makes me wonder about the kitchen cleanliness.). The only reason we didn't turn around and walk back out is because we were tired from driving all day. We have been coming here from out of town for the last 5 years. We always stay at Twin Creeks RV park and look forward to coming to this restaurant. It's been amazing until last night. Service was absolutely horrible. The shady manager was creepy and have bad vibes. The waitress asked for what type of salad dressing we wanted and we asked what they had and were told only ranch. I had to order my drink at the bar because the waitress couldn't read the menu or knew what they had. My daughters taco salad was disgusting it looked like soup with the amount of grease that was there. The place was dirty. We are new to the area and I have eaten Mexican food in Mexico and So Cal that is authentic. We ordered drinks and the large beer and margarita are good sized. I found the prices to be very reasonable. My husband had Carnitas and said they were authentic. Our waiters English wasn't great but he was friendly and efficient. I thought the food was good. I would have raised the stars to 4 if the place was cleaner. The windows are dirty, the place needs a good cleaning....it says they need help on the door so maybe a good cleaner would help. We ate there yesterday. I ordered a burrito from the dinner menu (not lunch!), not realizing they don't even come with rice and beans! Husband's chile rellenos were OK, nothing to rave about. Service was spotty, food was no more than OK, and to cap it off we were charged a service fee (I think it was 82 cents) I ASSUME because we wanted a receipt (surely it couldn't have been for the great experience)! Also, the receipt said to pay our waiter (couldn't even find him, so asked another to help). She said she would take it to the long line and leave it. Well new management brings change. Our favorite waitress is gone sadly. I'm hoping they tell the newer waitress that yelling to the cook while in the kitchen isnt a good idea. The customers can hear you! Also, Calling the girls (customers) at a table in the back room "assholes" (to your kitchen crew) doesn't work either. We heard that too. Food was ok today not the best. We come here at least once a week! The food is amazing and they have a large menu to try different items. The place was getting a little run down but last month or so they have been working on updating the booths. The staff is always friendly. Only downfall if you sit outside service is slower. We walked all the way to the back of the restaurant and you could see how worn out, and I mean really worn out this place was. Service was very slow. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and it was mostly ice. The chips were paper thin, super greasy and had a lot of broken little pieces. The salsa was super watery and not much flavor. We got the Ratones Rellenos as an appetizer and while it looked great, it was a huge disappointment. Stuffed inside the peppers were large pieces of bacon (which was just all fat) that was uncooked. It made these stringy and hard to eat with the uncooked bacon. I ordered a dish with 3 different items and every one of them was doughy, greasy and had no flavor. My husband got a steak with chorizo and shrimp. The steak was thin and way overdone and the chorizo was very salty. If the food wasn't bad enough, after the ice melted in my water, I took a big swig and it tasted like a dirty dish rag; it was completely gross. I went with friends and anytime we would ask for more to drink our server would roll her eyes and eventually just stopped coming to our table all together. My family and I were visiting Winchester during the Dogwood Festival/ Cinco de Mayo. We stopped in Las Margaritas for dinner, and liked the place so much, we decided to go there for lunch the next day. Of course, the $1 beer Cinco de Mayo specials were a big draw as well. In many ways this place is a fairly typical Mexican restaurant. Loud decor, the usual music playing over the speaker system, and the usual bland salsa. However, give it a chance and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. For starters, I of course asked for the spicier salsa options. They had not one, but two to choose from! One was a roasted chipotle style salsa and the other was a verde. Both were flavorful, and the verde had some pretty good zing to it. We had to keep asking for more of the verde - the waitress would have barely left us and we had nearly eaten it all! My family members ordered a variety of menu options, and naturally I had to snag a taste or two. Everything I tried was delicious! The food was very flavorful and tasted fresh. The two dishes that really stood out to me were the chicken nachos and the veggie fajitas. The refried beans were good too - just the right balance of sweet from the beans and flavors from the added spices. My one complaint with Las Margaritas would be with their nacho topping coverage. I love bean nachos, but the plate had just a smidge of beans in the middle and was just mostly chips. If you get bean nachos, ask for a little extra. The chicken nachos, however, had tons of chicken on them, so not sure why they were stingy with the beans. Las Margaritas also offers some pretty decent specials during the week, so check them out. They also have a nice roomy patio, which was great in the nice weather. But bring a sweater if you plan to sit inside! It was freezing in there! read more
