This place was, without a doubt the worst Mexican restaurant I've eaten at in over 10 years here in WA and perhaps ever! I ordered a chili verde burrito. It was more like a refried bean burrito with a few, maybe 1/4 inch pieces of what was supposed to be chili verde. It was not even remotely close to chili verde. My companion order chicken fajitas. My family has gone here for years.. We have many birthday photo's on the walls! The salsa is the absolute best, I could eat a gallon of it. It's amazing! The food has been kind of inconsistent lately, it wasn't great a few times in a row.. But the last two or three times it really improved, customer service on the other hand has been very slow. I have been a loyal customer of Las Mesitas since 1995, when I moved to the Hockinson/Battle Ground area as a child. I grew up eating here, had many birthdays here and have known the family that owns it for nearly twenty years. Over the course of the past two decades, not once has this restaurant let me down. This place is family owned, by first generation Mexican immigrants who care deeply about the quality of their food. The menu is enormous, especially for a small family owned restaurant, so there is something on the menu everyone can enjoy. You will not find better Mexican food in the Portland metro area! Don't eat here without trying their homemade salsa! It is TO DIE FOR! We have been buying salsa from here by the quart since the 1990s, it's that good! Their seafood dishes are also unusually abundant for a mexican food place. If I remember correctly, the family is from a coastal area on the west coast of Mexico, near Puerto Vallarta. Likewise, there are much more Mexican seafood offerings than you'd likely find at comparable restaurants, so don't forget to try those dishes! Sometimes my wife and I drive all the way out to Battle Ground just to eat here; it's that good, so try them sometime! You won't be disappointed. read more

The food wasn't horrible but wasn't great either, sort of bland. They were remarkably stingy with the chips bringing not even one full basket for our table of 7, and asking for more was met with extreme reluctance. Most of the staff was friendly but the hostess seemed irritated to be there and she is master of the chips. read more

My family and I decided try this place. I should of turned around left after I walked in. The place had a funny smell and seemed run down. The salsa was just ok. Tasted like stewed tomatoes with cilantro, onion and a little bit of jalapeno. The service was slow! The place wasn't even that busy when we got there, but took awhile to get our order taken and our food. Now onto the food, it was HORRIBLE! The beans tasted like they were microwaved on the plate because the edge of them had a crust formed. The food was bland and a funny taste to it. Couldn't bring myself to even finish my meal. Food was alright but I could of got the same thing at Jim boys tacos for much cheaper. The waitress didn't care about us at all. She said she would bring us more chips and never did. I ordered a steak taco and got chicken. They didn't bring our check we had to walk up to the counter.. Oh and we were the only ones there. It's never a good sign when you walk in at noon and only one table is occupied. I'll give them 2 stars because the staff were very friendly and prompt. The food is an utter letdown. Chips and salsa to start were bland and ordinary. As someone else noted it's pretty much made in advance and assembled when you order. My enchiladas came to me on hot plate with melted cheese, but the interior was cold (as below room temperature as if it had been in the freezer when I placed the order). The suiza sauce was weakly seasoned, and the meal in general lacked freshness. The meal was fast food quality at sitdown prices. My search for good Mexican food in Battle Ground will continue. read more

We haven't been into the restaurant in a couple of years because of my husband's heart illness. He is finally able to go out for a meal, so we brought three friends for Christmas Eve dinner. We have frequented this restaurant for many years because of the delicious quality of the food and friendly service. Sorry to say...we won't go back. Service was still excellent, but the food was not good. I had to send my dinner plate back to get heated...food was luke warm. Food was not even close to the quality we had come to appreciate. The salsa is tops, but what you get . . . seems to be all you get. The food? We've visited a couple times each year, and have always enjoyed the food here. This time, not so much. First, just because sopitas are on the menu doesn't mean you can have sopitas. Second, the fall back choice of ground beef tacos tasted OK, but these were shredded beef, not ground beef. Refills on soft drinks? Maybe, but only if there's someone around to ask (ditto a little more salsa); tonight, it seems there wasn't anyone to ask. The generous portion of rice and refritos required a take-out box, but to all indications, the staff must have left the building (what, for us to lock up?). Ah, but someone did appear at the counter to take our money once we decided to search the premises for signs of life. What's guaranteed is, that we'll never suffer a repeat of tonight's experience. read more

Never coming back here again. Horrible customer service. Ordered a blended strawberry margarita and what I got was a watered down strawberry slurpee with a hint of alcohol. I heard the blender go and didn't get my drink until 5 minutes later. They weren't even busy, someone just forgot about it. When I told the server that I did not want this drink anymore after one drink because it does not taste very good-she stood there and argued with me as she was stirring my margarita straw with her finger.... very sanitary! She blamed me for it being watered down because I didn't drink it.. What really baffled me: don't stand there and argue with a customer-everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Food is mediocre. We ended up getting the watered down margarita(this is how they come apparently) that I took a sip of off our bill after many frustrating arguments. read more

Of the three sit down Mexican restaurants in town I rank this one second. The service was decent with very friendly staff. Food arrived quickly and hot. Large plates filled nicely. My tacos and enchiladas with ground beef were fair. They were bland however, very little spice. My wife's arroz con pollo was also on the bland side. Helpings were generous. read more

I ordered a chicken tostada and it was horrible. The chicken looked grey and smelled so bad I had to push the plate all the way to the end of the table. I could not eat any of it. The girl serving me was super friendly with a smile on her face even after I told her I couldn't eat the dish. She apologized and offered to bring me something else but at that point I had no time. This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to! The lunch special is amazing. A cheese and onion enchilada with great rice and beans including tax and tip for $7. I am vegetarian and this is a great veggie friendly place! This is the most amazing deal around town. Their salsa is the bomb! Had a coupon for buy one get one entre free so I decided to try this place, very possible the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The chips were cold and stale, the salsa was tomato paste with lots of salt and black pepper. I had a beef enchilada and I'm pretty sure the beef was boiled with no seasoning what so ever covered in a sauce that tasted like a can of Spaghetti O's sauce. My hubby had the beef fajitas, which were so salty he couldn't eat them. To top it off there was something in my water glass and I almost drank from it. Will never go back, the good points are the atmosphere is clean and very nicely decorated, the service was so attentive it was almost annoying. read more

First off, we walked in and the restaurant was empty but the tables were dirty and uncleared, when the waitress brought us to our table, she aggressively threw the menus on the table, after a 20 minute wait she came to get our orders while talking on her cell phone and didn't ask us what we wanted to drink, when she brought us our food it was scorching hot, greasy and tasted like cat food. The waitress was very rude, she mean mugged us everytime she walked past our table, and my girlfriend who speaks spanish actually heard her saying racial remarks on her cell phone about us and her boss, wouldn't recommend this place for anyone. read more

Food was okay, i ordered The Works Burrito. Pretty big portions. Service was not very good but it was kinda busy.

Wow. What a horrible experience we had last night at this restaurant for Cinco de Mayo. Arrived at 6:45. They were busy (as to be expected). We were seated quickly. We waited approx. 10-15 min to get chips/salsa brought to us (not by our waitress but by another female worker). A good portion of the chips were soggy (like they had sat in oil for too long?). The table behind us had to get up and track someone down to get the margarita they had ordered and apparently had waited for a long time for. We kept waiting for someone to take our order but nobody even came over to our side of the restaurant. The table behind us (who were seated before us) finally flagged someone down and said they were ready to order their food. The waitress finally came to our table first and took our order (even though table behind us were seated before us). We gave her our order and also handed her back the chip basket with soggy chips and asked for new chips. We were brought back a basket of chips but soon realized the soggy chips remained in the basket still. Our drinks were brought to us within a reasonable time frame. However we then waited approx. 40 minutes for our food to be brought to us. This was approx. 1 hour after we sat down at the table. The table across from us also waited a very long time to have their waitress come take their order and for them to get their food. They finally had to flag down a waitress because they never received their drinks and because one of their orders was wrong. Immediately after our food arrived we were asked 5 times (by 4 different people) if our food was ok. But then they all disappeared and nobody was on our side of the building for a very long time. I finally had to walk to the front of the building and ask someone to get our waitress to bring us our check. The waitress finally came over and asked if we wanted anything else and I again stated we only wanted the check. She never came back. We had to go back up to the front counter to pay and get check up there. (I should also mention that the table behind us also asked for their check and never got it so they also went up the the front counter to pay too) While waiting up there we saw a customer come up and say they wanted water and asked for a pitcher and even offered to get it himself (obviously he knew he might have to wait forever) and witnessed a waitress talking to other staff members about how a table was complaining because they had been there awhile and had not received their food and they couldn't even find the table's food ticket. The waitress ended up finding the ticket on the check out counter - that table's food order had never been placed. We left at 8:30 (almost 2 hours we were there). It seemed like the entire restaurant was on meltdown mode. I don't know if they were short staffed (on Cinco de Mayo?!?!) or if this is typical for their restaurant as we are not regular patrons but I can tell you it was bad enough service for our family and we witnessed so many other people getting poor service that we will never be back. read more
