Best pizza around , they are known for their great Mexican food but they make an extraordinary pizza with nice thick crust.

Yesterday I walked in after ordering flautas over the phone. Afternoon on 12/23/24. The lady cashier was rude as soon as she looked at me and the food wasn't good. I ordered two orders of chicken flautas with rice and beans. Two waters..a Horchata(my daughter liked it)and Jamaica. When we opened up the food this is how it looked. Pictures below. Hardly no cheese. The sour cream was watery from the lettuce still being wet and the crunchiness of the flautas got affected. The green salsa/guacamole?? Don't even know what that was..it was sauce that was greenish and so thick it looked squishy and tasted horrible. It couldn't even slide out the little cup to my flautas. Kitchen and Cashier were busy - con el chisme-(gossiping). In overall I would never order there again. I know how to cook and this was embarrassing. $32 NOT well spent. Wanting to go for a ride, we headed to Mammoth and anticipated going to La Casita. It was closed but LAR was open. We have driven by this establishment for years, always saying that we should try them. Well we stopped this time, and we had a great experience. Sara, the waitress, was excellent. Being a taco lover, I ordered the three ground beef taco plate and wow. This was the first time I ever had a taco, not a street "mini taco", that had a filling with the taste, content and volume that matched what I get at home. Other restaurants should get their act together. The wife had their special quesobirria tacos and she now has a new favorite mexican restaurant. We noticed other patrons plates and they looked tasty as well. read more

The locals told us this is the best restaurant in town. I loved the menudo. Tasted fresh, perfect amount of spice, came with telera bread, freshly chopped garnish (cilantro, green onions) and limes. Wasn't a drop left in the bowl after I got done with it. read more

Still on the never ending hunt for good Mexican & the ultimate chili relleno. I've been to every Mexican along this stretch of hiway. This is pretty dang good. Ordered carne asada that didn't really have any flavor. But covered w the good salsa thy have it was fine. The relleno is one of my favorites. I will be back. In the middle of a small town without much going in it this restaurant is quite popular with the locals. It is neither cheap nor expensive, but it does have very good food and a decent portion size. Our family favorite is the chicken chimichanga. It used to be the pizza. Before that it was their hamburgers. Mom sometimes orders their chicken salad and she really likes that too and I keep wanting to order it because it looks so good. However, I can't justify ordering chicken salad and a chicken chimichanga and I don't want to quit ordering the chicken chimichanga as long enough to order the salad right now. If you are heading out this direction and it's not a Wednesday, it would definitely be worth your time to stop by. I've heard great things about their tacos but have not ventured towards eating them yet. read more

What do you want? Pancakes? Breakfast burrito? Anything to eat in this one stop light town before you go into the Canyon? Thinking that this might be your last meal on earth before being eaten by bears? It could happen in Aravaipa. Not a lot of options in this area. The staff was really nice. They did put cheese on my order twice after asking for no cheese lol. Also, the chorizo did not sit well with my hiking amiga. If you are reading this, it is too late. You didn't plan well enough to bring lunch with you. Just bite the bullet, roll the dice, and eat here. I wish I would have gotten the pancakes. read more

So, finally had the "off-menu" pizza. It was great. I don't know if they make it there or it's store-bought but damn the crust was chewy and delicious and I hate crust 99% of the time. I had been craving pizza forever and it was so worth it. It wasn't greasy, all the ingredients tasted yummy and fresh, and I was able to order it cheese-less. It was so worth it. Onto their regular items. I've always been able to order anything off of their menu here and be happy. I personally think it is the best choice in Mammoth. Food is cheaper, less greasy and I like the small atmosphere. Everything is yummy here too. If you're in the area, try it and if you want some damn fine pizza with a chewy yummy crust, this place rocks. read more

Very enjoyable, well run Michoacan style restaurant! The facility itself isn't "grand" but they keep their dining room quite clean and it's comfortable - The food, however, was unexpectedly good. I tried their birria tacos because that was listed in the menu as a house specialty, and my tablemate had their vegetable burrito - plus we ordered a pair of beans & rice burritos to go. The recipes were deliberate and flavorful, the portions were excellent, everything balanced very well. I think they make the tortillas on site, *very* good tortillas, both corn and flour. The green tomatillo-aguacate salsa on the tables was also perfect! Definitely a kitchen that cares about feeding people good food, vs. just someone making a paycheck. They even double-wrapped our to-go burritos because we mentioned we'd be camping & have those for dinner, awesome service!! I don't make it down to Mammoth often, but I'll be remembering this shop & make sure I roll into town hungry!! read more

This restaurant is a small place by the side of the road, you might be reluctant to go in, but it is a very clean place, the food is awesone. Chips are fresh and served warm with a squirt bottle of salsa and a guac sauce. Both are a bit on the caliente side, but good. Heard tbe carne asada burrito was "to die for", so i had that. Its probably 8" and stuffed with a steak, shreaded cabbage and cilantro. It is the diah to order. My husband and i had the burrito, he had soda and i had ice tea and our bill was 22.00. My husband and I stopped here after a fun weekend in Aravapia Canyon. After eating camping and hiking food for days this is just what we needed. The staff are very nice. The salsa and guacamole is wonderful. My husband had the burrito and I had a quesadilla with a few drinks. The portions are large so be ready to eat! The food is authentic and tasty. I give it 5 stars for the amazing food. It's a 10-fanny cafe, clean, friendly, and efficient. Chile rellenos are my 'gold standard' and with many decades of testing, these are absolutely the best I've ever had. Plus! - They make the guacamole only after you've ordered it - really fresh and delicious. Small clean well run place with friendly service. Stopped here with a friend of mine on a motorcycle trip. We both enjoyed what we ordered. I had the egg cheese chorrizo and potato breakfast burrito very good. My buddy ordered the chorizo breakfast and remarked that it was as good as it gets.
