I was out for a ride on my Street Glide and ended up in Marana. I stopped for an iced coffee at Starbucks as it was a bit humid and getting warm early morning. After coffee, I was going to head straight home until I noticed Nico's to my left. I passed it. I traveled past the overpass and made a U-turn. I pulled up to Nico's crossing a gravel/dirt road and onto a paved parking lot. Nico's is a small unassuming place the sits alone at the North end of the parking lot. I love hole-in-the-walls! For some reason, I was craving crispy tacos. I ordered a carne asada and ground beef crispy taco. The lady who took my order said carne asada only comes in a soft shell; so I asked to her make both tacos ground beef. She asked if it was to go or dine in. I opted to eat in. I mean, I was traveling on my bike. I was taken aback a little by the price of each taco. It was just under six bucks. Because of that, I did not leave a tip. 13 dollars with tax for two tacos! I seated myself at one of the tables. Bathrooms were located outside around the building. The lady who took my order served my tacos and I was surprised how big the tacos were. They were double the size of a standard taco shell and they were overfilled with ingredients. The ground beef were ample and the lettuce and cheese were overflowing. The lady gave me two squeeze bottles, one with red salsa and one with green salsa. I tried them both with each taco and they were delicious. When I finished devouring the tacos, what was left on the plate equaled a taco salad. There was nothing left on the plate after I was done! The last thing I did was go over to the lady who took my order and served me was tip her. Now I understood why the tacos cost what they charged. They were well worth it! read more

In the mood for Mexican food and a quick search on Yelp led me to Nico's Taco Shop. After a quick peruse, I used the order button to the navigate to the DoorDash page, super easy. I got the pollo de asada burrito and my husband got the carne asada burrito. These were both huge portions! Easily enough for lunch and dinner. We also ordered a pint of refried beans. Everything was delicious and definitely hit the spot for my Mexican craving. Since we did pickup, can't say much for the dine in experience but it was quite clean and parking is super easy since it's located in a big strip mall. read more

Wandered in while in the area for a quick breakfast! I ordered their chorizo burrito and added beans and cheese to it and it was both flavorful and spicy! It's a very big burrito, so unless you're a BIG eater, you can definitely share it. Unfortunately, they don't serve coffee (boo!), so I had to go next door to grab a Starbucks in the grocery store! They should definitely think about having a fresh coffee pot on during the morning hours so their customers don't have to walk next door. Service was friendly and helpful. Seating in the restaurant is very spaced out. Restaurant appeared clean. They have a salsa bar with a red and green salsas to choose from. Overall, it was good. read more

This is the ONLY Nico's I go to. I'm not sure what they do that other locations don't, but the food is superior to any other that I've tried. It actually ranks among the best Mexican food in metro Tucson...in my book/stomach. My Mexican husband agrees. We always get a 1/2 pint each of beans and rice. Fish tacos are our go to. I tried a carne asada taco and was not disappointed. The meat was well-seasoned and tender. The tacos are loaded with fixins, enough to make a mini nacho plate if you order a side of chips. The cashiers are always friendly, which adds to the experience. I'd post pictures, but the food is already half gone. read more

Ordered Door Dash from here. It took about 25-30m minutes to arrive. I got the combo with a shredded chicken enchilada and shredding beef tostada. We also got a carne asada and bean and cheese burrito. You will not go hungry! You get SO much food. The burritos are as long/tall as the coke bottle. Everything was delivered in a timely manner and was tasty, however I would not recommend ordering anything crunchy like a crunchy taco or tostada if you are doing take-out, because it as a bit soggy by the time it got to me. I'm sure if it was fresh in the restaurant it would be really crunchy and fresh. Overall, not a bad spot. I would go dine-in next time! read more

Absolutely thrilled to have a Taqueria in this part of Marana. We need more thriving businesses to support this growing community. The word is already getting out. Around noon there was a line. Prices are reasonable and I would say competitive. They offer a pretty good menu and a nice variety of options to choose from. You can get burritos, tacos, plates, etc. ample clean seating inside. And super friendly staff. We got two burritos: carne asada and carnitas burritos. They were delicious and filling. The family loved that guacamole and fresh pico de gallo was included in both of them. Our neighbors got the breakfast burritos and said they were wonderful. Will definitely be back to try those soon! Small restaurant with limited seating next door to a Fry's. We stopped in for a quick lunch a bit before noon. I ordered the #1 combo of beef taco and cheese enchilada, it came with rice and beans. My spouse ordered the taco salad in a fried shell. We also ordered chips. The chips were plentiful and hot with just the right amount of salt. You can get your own salsa which is either green or red, both were okay, but I wished they had pico too. The taco salad was pretty large and my husband really liked it, he remarked how fresh the shell was and that the guacamole was good. I found my taco crunchy with a well fried tortilla but the meat rather bland and had too much lettuce. The cheese enchilada was big but not hot enough so the cheese was not really melted. Rice and beans were standard and fine. Service was quick but the lady taking the orders wasn't that friendly and instead of cleaning up after people left she preferred to scroll thru her phone, limiting tables to sit down at even more. My Son never cared for Avocados prepared any way in any dish. He absolutely loves the guacamole in the street tacos here at Nico's Taco Shop. We usually visit the Tangerine/Thorneydale location in Tucson. Their space is very clean, they have the bottled Coke's and Sprite which is our favorite. The Carnitas combo plate is really delicious. Went in this week and grabbed a beef taco and was sorely disappointed. The meat was very dry and flavourless. The shell was fried well, but that's about it. The kid with the dark curly hair running the register was friendly, but really dopey and had ZERO personality. The establishment was nice and clean on the inside, but completely empty. No positive energy at all inside and i wouldn't be surprised if this place is closed by next year. Plus, no taco Tuesday specials, which is really weak.
