Stopped into California for a XC Meet and had time for one meal. The first place we stopped was listed on Yelp as open, but they don't open till 3p. So we ventured downtown to see what we could find. And we found a gem! Looks a bit like a hole on the wall outside, but we found great food and service inside. Rice, beans, quesadilla, chili Renos and a couple tacos ... all on point, flavorful and authentic. Cold beer on tap or bottles made it that much better. This place moved from it's previous location. They're now in the former Campys/wood st. bar and they also have all new management and employees. Come see Carlos, he's very friendly and professional, he's on top of your every need! The food, oh my, it's never been better! So full of flavor and way more fresh. Try the queso fundido for an app, so simple but delicious. The menu is huge and I've personally tried at least 20 meals from the burrito patron, chimichangas, and different specials, to the carnitas, honey chipotle shrimp, pina loca, and molcajete. It's all wonderful. Only complaint is they need a sign on the side of the building so more people know what this place is. read more

I ordered takeout last week and it was phenomenal. Best takeout I've had in a while, this past order it was wrong, but not a huge deal. Still tasted well. The chips were also off but bad days happen. Would totally come back and just hope for a good day! I'm sure just a mistake. read more

Little California is not just for college anymore ... we found this amazing Mexican restaurant on Yelp and had no idea it was even open and has been for 5 months. Not sure if any of you knew about it so I figured I would share. The Fajita Vallarta add jalapeños is so flavorful and scrumptious and probably my favorite ever. I prefer authentic Mexican food but I also love good quality Tex Mex. This spot was neither. I'm sure it's fine if you're used to frozen burritos and are already drunk. But the margaritas are crap (way too much mixer and not enough Tequila) so you won't be getting turnt there. Worst enchiladas I've ever had. read more

If you have ever had Real Tex-Mex or authentic Mexican this is not your place. Disgusting is the best way to describe. That's being nice. Of course the food came out super fast and was hot but in all honesty it tasted like it was bought from a walmart frozen section and reheated. Lack of flavor in ever sense. Drinks were just as bad. Margaritas are suppose to taste fresh not stale from a pre-made machine. We didn't finish our food or drinks. But hey this is coming from a Texan. If you want good TEX MEX go to Tocayo Tequila it's worth the extra 20 minute drive. read more
