Worse service ever! I have been going to this restaurant at least twice a month for 20 years. They always have prompt service and the waiters are friendly, until today. I arrived around 11:45 AM and there was one table already seated. The Waite staff served me promptly and took my order, which came out in reasonable time. Other customers arrived. There was a table near the kitchen with people I figured were family to the Waite staff because she spent all her time at the table with them. She had eye contact with me several times when I tried to get her attention. I got up and retrieved a take out box for my meal, which she saw and smiled at. Then waited ten minutes for her to come bay and asked if I needed anything else. Took about another 10 minutes to receive my bill. I seriously thought of just walking out. I used to like to eat here all the time. Used to. The place just seemed dead. One thing that was odd was that it was hard to tell who worked there. The host was just wearing normal clothes, so I thought he was just another customer at first. It was a Sunday late morning, I had a bowl of menudo and a smothered burrito. Nothing was any better than mediocre. The menudo was too greasy, which I believe means the tripe didn't get properly cleaned. It didn't seem to have the proper flavor. The green chile on the burrito had a weird consistency to it, almost gelatinous. (First time I've ever used that word lol). My boy had a chicken taco. Kinda hard to screw that up. As for the chips and salsa, better chips can be had in any store brand bag. And I don't really remember anything about the salsa, if that tells you anything. I called in a order for pickup yesterday for my lunch since I work in the shopping center and was very upset. When I got to the restaurant I was told that they never got my order and didn't know what I was talking about. I kept getting questioned about whether or not I actually placed an order, so I explained the situation again and stated that I was even told they would make sure to get it in since they had a new system. The employee then just apologized and stared at me. I told her I would go elsewhere then and didn't get an offer to make my order quickly or any other compensation. The 2 times that my gf and I have been there were ok. Food was decent and price was decent. We went there recently and it was awful. The main area was noisy with lots of families with kids so we asked to sit in a quiet area. It took a while for someone to come take our order but that was only because my gf flagged down a guy who was vacuuming the floor. No one should be vacuuming during business hours, that's just bad practice. My gf ordered a guacamole tostada along with another entree. So we get near the end of our meal, my gf was chewing on something chewy. When she pulled it out, it was a piece of raw chicken tendon. WTF? How does that get into a tostada that doesnt have any meat in it? We told the server about it and told her we're ready for our check. Later, someone else comes back and says "we gave you 10% off for that".Seriously? That's it? And to top that off, no apology whatsoever. Well, that's the last time we go there. I enjoy the laid back feel of this place and have never sent anything back to the kitchen.It is a family run operation so the staff is generational and personable.I enjoy the grilled chicken plate(#31) and have a tough time finishing the portion. I honestly wish I could do more but there quality has been declining over the last year. I love the green chili and the taste of the burritos but what we get out of it isn't worth it. I've been going here since I was a little kid so at least 10 years. Thought the price is cheap and hasn't changed the quality of product has. I wish last Palmas would consider a price up of $1 or even $2 I would be more than willing if they went back to their old quality where they actually put a good amount of beans in the burritos. I've asked for more beans paid the extra $1 and it didn't taste like the same beans. The guacamole was neon green and didn't taste like guacamole at all I think it was powder guacamole . The carne asada was more a steak then a thin steak and we asked med rare and first got well then rare. The tortillas were definitely microwaved. I've given the place a couple tried in the last year's in hopes it would be better but I'm very disappointed because this was the only Mexican restaurant I even wanted to go to but it is no longer worth the gas and time. This place was ok but nothing great. I ordered the #10 combo, which included the Chile relleno, chicken enchilada, guacamole tostada, and beef taco. It was alot of food but coulda had much more flavor. The salsa was good, but I wish they had a spicier version. This is our new local eatery. We moved to Thornton recently and have tried all the restaurants on 120th from Wadsworth to HWY 85. The food is great and the service is always good too. Despite their menu statement, this is one of the blandest, least authentic Mexican restaurants I've been to in the area. Their chips are cold and not fresh. Their beans are watered down. Their rice is bland with no spice. Their fajitas are some of the worst I've had. Even their service was bland, slow and unfriendly. They are very overpriced(they charge $4.50 for an extra empty plate if you want to split fajitas with another person and charged $1.50 for extra chips without telling us). This is such a greedy corporation and I would encourage you to be extremely cautious entering through their doors. I never thought I'd say this but Three Margaritas is even better. Just walked out of this restaurant after another horrible experience. We live 200 feet away and actively choose to go to any other restaurant than this place. The atmosphere is dirty and old. Nothing seems clean. We ordered 2 margaritas and we were brought one. A second server came by to take out order, but since we weren't ready, we ordered the cheese dip. 15 minutes later we received a large bowl of canned nacho cheese, like what you buy from a high school concession stand. Then we were told we would be getting another basket of chips for the dip. Nope... We watched as both of our servers seemed to help everyone around us, but not even glance in our direction. Las Palmas isn't flashy, but the menu is extensive and the food is generally pretty good. My major gripe is that it's too expensive, and they've gotten cheap about the soda: they used to give you a trashcan-sized tub of pop, with one refill, but now it's a regular-sized cup and still only one refill. Anyway, the taco meat is great. You can get rellenos crispy or soft, and either one is good. The green chile (there's pork in there) is consistently very good. The spiciness of the salsa can vary greatly from one visit to the next. This suggests to me that they make it fresh, but which can be a pain if you get blasted by today's recipe after having a mild experience last time. Overall, I like La Estrellita in Arvada better than Las Palmas, but the latter is closer to my house and the former even more expensive. Every now and then, Las Palmas is the only thing that will hit the spot. read more

Went there for lunch last Saturday. Service was efficient and quick. I had the carnitas burrito. The chili was good not overly spicy. My husband had a combo plate and forgot to say no onions the waitress took it back and got him a new plate, no questions asked, even though it was his mistake. I've only been here twice, and I will say that my first impressions of the place were not that great. Picture a bingo parlor built into a dingy church basement. Folding tables and cheap vinyl chairs. Then add tacky "I need to make sure you know you're in a Mexican restaurant" decor: Pinatas, maracas, sombreros, a giant margarita class filled with colored water...can you picture it? That being said, I used to work off of Federal Blvd., where I ate at many delicious Mexican restaurants with very questionable decor. So I know better than to judge a restaurant by it's less than modern appearance. It was around 7pm on a Friday, and the place was packed with people of all ages, but mostly families with small (read: screaming) children. The menu is extensive and includes combos as well as traditional dishes like Menudo. I had the Steak Ranchero on my first visit, and the Hamburger Steak on my second. Both times my meat was cooked well and the green chile was flavorful with a slight kick. It's no Santiago's but it's not bad at all. Rice and beans were also typical and nothing special, but they definitely took care of the Mexican food craving. The servers here are friendly and joke around with you. On our second visit we went a little later in the evening and some of the servers were eating together at a table nearby. They were joking around so loudly that we were laughing with them. So, this place is very laid back and nothing too pretty to look at, but the food is served hot and fresh and the service is friendly. read more
