Went there on a recommendation from a friend for Mom's 72nd birthday dinner. The food was terrible and the service was even worse. Had the jalapeño poppers and chicken and steak fajitas. Everything was so overcooked and tough. The decor was tacky and there was no mariachi music playing, only the boisterous sounds of the staff apparently having a great time while we waited what seemed like an eternity for our food. The first thing I try in a Mexican restraunt is the Mexican pizza, this has got to be the best one I have ever had! Normally they are gooey too cheesy and the crust (tortilla) is barely crunchy or completely soggy. This is one you can actually pick up to eat, Like a regular pizza. It's just right for an entre or an appetizer for a group (if you can all agree on the meat topping). The chips are crunchy and soft at the same time, almost crunch melts in your mouth, served with a mildly spicy salsa. I am saddened by the fact that the 1st time we were going in for dinner we were told they were closed and they kicked us out, my husband was incredibly insulted, as their posted hours clearly showed they were open for st least 1 more hour. I kinda do want to know why we were not able to enjoy a good dinner that day. I have been here 2x, and both have been fabulous. Today my waitress was eating her lunch, saw I was done and got up to take my plate, now I would have been fine leaving it there but I just wanted to point out her attention to her customers. read more

Stopping in town after some tours around the area. Gave the restaurant a try since we stayed next door. There's a lot of negative reviews due to short staff and bland food. Y'all seem to forget that restaurants cater to the people they serve and it is in the middle of a northern area. They probably got complaints of the food being too spicy if you really think about it. And y'all forget that a pandemic hit - hitting small businesses hard. Naturally they will be short staffed. read more

I have been here a few years back, late night, and this place had great good. This time we came mid afternoon, and there food was still great. This time we did have to wait 15 minutes for our server to come by and take our order. She had brought the chips and salsa and left. Lol. They have 2 types of salsa. Mild and hot. The mild really doesn't have very much flavor at all but the hot had lots of flavor. Wasn't really hot but had a slight heat kick after you ate it. I got the number 2. Which was a beef taco and 2 enchiladas of your choice between sliced beef, ground beef, or chicken. I got one sliced and one ground beef enchilada with melted cheese on them. Both styles of beef were very flavorful. I would recommend the sliced over the ground though. Was very juicy and lots of flavor. But either wld be good. The melted cheese could have been better though. It was only queso fresco melted on top. That's not what I thought the melted cheese was going to be. Being from Texas, you say melted cheese, you get flavorful queso. So that was a little bit of a disappointment. But I do recommend this place, may just have to be patient with the server. Pretty bad...and this is coming from somebody who likes all levels of Mexican food. I asked for minimal orange liquor in my margarita yet it tasted like a melted popsicle.Salsa was forgettable (the chips were decent). Queso dip tasted good but had a weird thick & chunky consistency. The Chile relleno was mushy and had some sweet sauce on top--like Ragu or something--which pretty much ruined it. We have been here several times. The food is ok and the service is good. I ordered a Chalupa with shredded beef. The is a lot of meat on this but it's very chewy and not much flavor. This is the third time I ordered this and it's not changed. My husband had an enchilada and tamale. He said his was fine. His servings we huge. A cute plant filled entry area and a nice area to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. Staff are very welcoming. The interior is bright, clean and festive with comfortable booths. A terrific menu selection. The Flautas rice and beans were just terrific - came with tasty guacamole and sour cream that were great touches. The owner, Fernando, came out to say hello to guests. Decided we wanted Mexican food and were nervous to come here due to the reviews but SO HAPPY we did! Ou server was amazing; so sweet and made sure our drinks were full. Waited 30 min for the waitress to take our order. 45 min to get our meal. 3 min to get our margaritas. The tacos rancheros was disgusting. The tacos couldn't hold the meat inside. Soggy. My husband ordered regular tacos, soggy as well. Meat, beans, rice was ok but i wanted a taco not a pile of much. Not going there again. Just ate here. It was one of the weirdest experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. As we entered it took the hostess a few minutes to recognize us and get us seated. As we are being seated I hear the table adjacent to ours say something to the effect of "they can't believe the service is so slow, and when are they ever going to get their food". A sure sign we should have just bagged out of there right then and there. But no. So after about 5 minutes, some water shows up with some chips. Nothing great or horrible. After about 15 minutes our waitress shows up to take our order. The people next to us still haven't received their food....and then they do...promptly eating it and need to flag down the waitress for the check. Meanwhile, we are waiting for our food, and more and more people are arriving. I am wondering how things are going to work out... I also observe they have at least three servers and two cooks....and maybe 10 tables in the restaurant...and the infrequent occasion I see the waitresses they are rushing around, but not getting much done. For instance, my water glass runs dry...and no one over the 45 minutes we are waiting stops by to fill it. Finally, and I do mean finally, we get our food. The waitress drops it off and heads out. I call to her, "more water please". More water arrives. At this point I am expecting the food to be horrible. It wasn't; the food was actually pretty good...though you can clearly tell it has been under heat lamps for a while. So we eat our food and the waitress walks by a couple times and we fail to make eye contact to ask for the check. And then on a third time, she enters the room and is flagged down by another table, who I hear say "can we get some service?". And as she is walking back I then flag her down to ask for the check. Which we get in a few minutes. Pay in cash, + tip and we are out. An hour and thirty-five minutes...for a burrito and three tacos. This place is just bizarre. Being born and raised in southeastern New Mexico, I'm very particular about Mexican restaurants . I'm happy to report this place is a new favorite ! Portions are generous, ingredients fresh and all items are made from scratch (according to our server ) . Prices are very reasonable , and we will be coming back again ! read more

This is the first Mexican restaurant we saw entering Sequim and decided to check it out. It did have a large amount of people in it when we arrived, which lead me to believe the food would be pretty tasty. Service was fast and friendly. Menu had a wide variety of options. My blended margarita was all liquid, but mostly made per my specifications. I didn't love the salsa, but they did bring refills without being asked. I don't think anyone found this to be their new stop off restaurant in Sequim, but it was edible and provided us with a place to eat and have a conversation. My friend was amused by the bathroom with two toilets in it, but I was too lazy to check it out for myself. read more

Las Palamos is pretty good! It's definitely not the best Mexican ever but it's pretty good. In terms of the quality and authenticness of the food it's probably on par with El Cazador. Where it really shines, though, is the vegetarian menu: there's actually a separate vegetarian section of the menu that includes veggie fajitas, taco salad, and enchiladas as well as the standard burrito. For vegetarians this place is definitely a better choice than El Cazador. As far as the food itself: The chips and salsa were terrific. I got the veggie fajitas, and the grilled vegetables were perfect. The flour tortillas were quite good, warm and soft. The guacamole was good too - real avocados were involved. The rice was a little dry and nothing special. The beans were pretty good but the portion was a bit small. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal and I'll definitely be going back. read more

I don't think I have ever been served worse "Mexican" "food." I ordered a cheese enchilada and pork tamale, on the combo plate with refried beans. Husband had the pork enchiladas in tomatillo sauce. All if it was bad, bad BAD! Everything was gloppy, flavorless, unseasoned, and lukewarm -- except in certain hot spots, thanks to Chef Microwave. Neither of us could stand to eat more than a few bites. We were the only folks in there for a Friday lunch, so perhaps word has gotten out that place is as bad as it gets. A very disappointing meal. I had carne asada and beans. Everything was extremely bland and flavorless. I could not taste the beans, they had a very creepy lack of flavor. The meat was tough, and tasted funny, like the bottom of a frying pan without seasoning. I was so hungry that I wolfed it down quickly. Even though it didn't taste good, it satisfied my hunger. Tonight was the first time we have tried this "Mexican" restaurant. We have frequented Mexican restaurants up and down the west coast for many years and regularly return to favorites in San Diego and Scottsdale. We will not return to this restaurant. We ordered chicken burritos and were served large flour tortillas stuffed with an abundance of dry shredded chicken surrounded by rice on one side and refried beans on the other with a bit of melted cheese on top and a few shreds of lettuce plus small globs of guacamole and sour cream. It was the most bland and tasteless meal we have ever had in a Mexican restaurant. Even the salsa and chips were flavorless. I do not understand how this restaurant stays in business. The two stars are for portion size and efficient service - NOT for food quality. read more

We decided to stop here with friends, and we are really glad we did! The place was not crowded, which was a bit of a concern at first, but what a surprise. The chips are fresh, light in texture, and obviously made in house. The guacamole was super good, and the salsa excellent. The drinks were hefty in size and content (lots of rum in the daiquiri). Then the main dishes hit the table. Proper hot plates, excellently seasoned and cooked to perfection! There were five people at our table and every dish was different. Nobody had a single bad thing to say!!! This place deserves every star on this review for a perfect dinner, outstanding service, and great atmosphere!!!! I have no idea how this place still even exists, the food here is disgusting microwaved pre-made trash that should just be flushed down the toilet to eliminate the middle man (because that's where it ended up after I ate here) ... the owners either don't care or don't know how bad the quality control is here... I seriously hope that one of them reads this and they wake up and smell the lavender and start trying to push out a better product then what they have been doing. EW EW EW. This was one of the worst meals I've ever had in my life. Not kidding at all. My mom loves Mexican food, and since she'd put up with the rest of us wanting sushi, we decided to give her a turn! We were all sorry that we did by the time dinner was over. The service was terrible!!!!! The restaurant was not busy at all, yet our server couldn't deal with anything. It took him 15 minutes to get to us just to get our drink order. 10 more minutes went by and we still didn't have drinks. All I wanted was water!!! Finally, he made the rounds to other tables to check in, then when he turned his back to us and started walking away, I called out to get his attention. He didn't apologize or even seem surprised that we didn't have drinks!! Then I saw a table that came in after us get their food! wtf?!? The food was insanely bad. I had the chicken fajitas and they were disgusting. I had a dollop of guacamole the size of a quarter and the chicken was SO salty it was almost inedible. The service was great, the food was sub par, the "always made from scratch" margaritas were terrible. The location of this was convenient since I was staying at the hotel nextdoor. First off, I use the beans as a standard to judge any Mexican restaurant and these were just flavorless and sad. The rest of the food was also just basically lacking flavor. I'm pretty sure the Chiles for the rellenos are from a can. The tequila selection is not very good for a Mexican bar, too many that aren't 100% de agave, and a well tequila that tastes like cheap vodka. The whole menu uses MSG... EVEN THE SALSA. I'm allergic, so it was a no go. Went in asked if they used MSG, they didn't understand. So i translated in Spanish, still didn't understand. So i asked if they used these key ingredients, very common in Latin American cooking Cubitos de hamon, ajo, pollo, ( ham, garlic, chicken boulions) & sazon.They said yes. I asked if there was anything on the menu that didn't contain msg, nope. Nothing. Wish i could have said something nice, from what i hear the food is "aahk" what ever that means. read more

I would have given it a -1 star if possible. The fajita salad had no flavor and the Chicken Salad Palomos I ordered did not come as ordered, with black beans. It was not taken back and the staff argued it was the correct order even though there were refried beans on the bottom which I did not want. Both salads lacked flavor of any kind - salsa was mediocre and chips were poor and greasy. When asked what beers they had on tap they listed several and then brought out bottles that were barely cold. I do not recommend this restaurant. Hugely disappointed. read more

We came here for dinner because I had read decent reviews here. We walked in the ugly, sad lobby to the hostess station, and abruptly turned around to get out as fast as possible! You see, the smell was awful-- a lethal combination of urinal cake and industrial cleaner! It was overpowering and our kids were also gagging when we got in the car. Not what we were expecting.
