Taco salad with steak & shrimp
    Cindee P.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming! The menu is pretty straight forward. I thought it was going to be slammed because it was Taco Tuesday, but it wasn't bad. I ordered a taco salad bowl and it was smaller than I expected, but I really didn't need leftovers anyways. The venue is pretty small, but they were able to accommodate our party of 13.

Las Patronas Mexican Restaurant has recently opened in an older and somewhat decrepit shopping plaza on the corner of University Boulevard and Dean Road. Walking in, the place does have an overall pleasant vibe and we were seated pretty quickly. We went over the menu and I ended up going with the birria tacos. I also had a chorizo taco. They also brought us chips and salsa. My birria tacos were pretty good and most of my party thought that the food was decent to good. The menu was a bit weak and the service, sadly, was not the best. In fact, it was pretty abysmal. She was not rude or anything, but she was unattentive and seemed rather distracted. She also made an error and overcharged us and kind of was not letting it go. We had four adults and one child and she was trying to charge us for five adult soft drinks and a children's juice. I tried to tell her that she overcharged us and she was refusing to accept it. She finally relented, but still it should have been easier. All in all, it is a newer restaurant and I hope that they work out the kinks. With the bad service, I will give it four stars.

Taste: 5/5 Value: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Las Patronas is a hidden gem. The restaurant is small but vibrant, giving you a lively setting to enjoy your meal. Great place to check out if you're looking for some authentic Mexican food and a colorful atmosphere. Everything was delicious and very good portion sizes. Free chips and salsa were a nice touch that we fully enjoyed. Our server was very friendly and got our food out quickly, even though we came during the dinner rush. Overall, great spot to check out and enjoy a tasty meal. Warning: The server did tell us beforehand, but be warned that there is a 3% charge if you decide to pay by card.

The food was absolutely amazing... My husband said these were probably the best fajitas he had ever had very flavorful and not overcooked I had the birria tacos and they were fantastic. Excellent service.

3-3.5/5 Little Mexican restaurant in the old Naroodle spot. Loved the decor inside it gave the cozy vibe of sitting outside a cafe in Mexico. The lady who I presume is the owner was so friendly and nice. We came for Taco Tuesday where they had tacos for $1. It seems like they change the selection and today's was ground beef and pulled chicken. We ordered ground beef tacos, birria tacos ($3) and elote. The ground beef was quite good and tender although the tortilla broke on me twice. The birria was pretty good but could use a bit more sauce. The elote was yummy and creamy ($5.99). The tacos are a bit small but for a $1 it's definitely not a bad price. Tacos are yummy and cheap and the staff is nice. Noticed that we didn't get chips and salsa like other tables but I think it might be because we didn't get entrees. Nothing super special but for that price and the ambiance, would def come again next Taco Tuesday.

Came to this place because we were craving "Mexican" food and read the good reviews. We ordered the following: Enchiladas with pulled beef: Nothing extraordinary. Flautas: Nothing extraordinary. Chorizo Chicken: It was ok. Tasteless rice. We ordered the Michelada after one sip we asked the server we wanted something else so we ordered a sprite. Even though, we had one sip and the michelada was returned; we still were charged for the michelada. When asked the server why we were being charged, she said "you ordered it" (in a not friendly way). This was the first time that we order a drink that we don't like and we still get charged, event though, we had one sip. **Be mindful you'll be charged about $2 fee for using your credit card. We will not be coming back.

We went to this restaurant for Christmas Eve and had dinner. The dishes were good served with plenty of food and the flavor on each were delicious and authentic. I highly recommend this restaurant for their authentic Mexican food, recommend the carnitas tacos and the steak tacos as well, Thank you Patronas for the service and the delicious food, we will come back to visit you even though we live in south Florida.

Located at the corner of University and Dean, this charming spot is tucked away. Walking in there was music playing and I loved the bright colors inside. Our servers were friendly and welcoming. We went on Taco Tuesday where they have 4 options for $1 tacos! I tried both pork options (carnitas and cochinita). Both were amazing! The cochinita was marinated in orange juice (I'm not the biggest fan of orange juice) but the flavors were delicious! I also ordered the house margarita which was purple! I tried the supreme nachos and the guacamole and everything was amazing! I can't wait to go back!

The best Mexican restaurant near UCF. Authentic cheap and AMAZING FOOD. The service was wonderful, our server made sure we had everything we needed. She was so sweet!! We started with the nachos, which were so good, usually I do not like cheese sauce but this was insanely good The barria tacos were out of this work best I have ever had. We also got the street tacos, steak and carnitas bough were insanely good. Seriously the best most affordable Mexican food in the area. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated, it's so cute!! So good I am currently writing the review at the table lol

Pollo Chorizo. Tasteless rice and beans

PSA...Take cash or be charged an extra 3% for using a DEBIT CARD!!! We've been on the hunt (for more than a year) for Mexican food that is so yummy, we want to keep coming back. I can't say that this is the spot, but it was good. The vibe is colorful, but a very tiny space. Mostly empty, except for one person when we arrived. There were some items that were tasty and items that were just meh. I usually judge a restaurant by how delicious their rice and beans are. Then I move onto the entrées. Rice and beans were both very uninteresting and bland. The rice just tasted like white rice. On the flip side, the Pollo Chorizo dish was delicious! The chorizo was not greasy and had great flavor. Especially since it sat on top of a delicious queso and pounded chicken breast. I was super interested in trying their Birria tacos, along with their chicken mole. The waitress said I couldn't have a side of the Birria gravy, nor could I have mole on my enchilada if I ordered the combo plate. So I opted for the 4 combo tacos. I asked about Birria gravy for that one taco. She finally relented and gave me a side of it. She said she would charge me a dollar but instead it was $2.99. Def not tasty at all. I will say the Tripas taco was the best one of the 4. Perfectly cooked, with a bit of crunch, and a bit of chewy. I also tried the Conchita, the Carnitas, along the Tripas and Birria ones. Finished off with the fried ice cream. Delicious! Their chips and salsa were just the right amount of heat for this little sissy. My husband got the spicier salsas and enjoyed them. Skinny margaritas were too sweet to finish. Went to pay with my debit card and had no idea they were going to charge an extra 3% for using a cash debit card. Honestly, this is probably the reason we will not return. Last minute up charge pricing is not my thing. No heads up, no info on the menu regarding this up charge. If it was on the menu, it was hidden pretty well. Moving on. There are literally hundreds of places to try.

I felt bad we had her running back & forth a bit more than we usually would with refills & stuff but it was super hot in the restaurant for some reason. The table next to us complained & their server said it's because they were near the window. Anyways. The crab cakes were better than last year but calamari was a bit soggy. Both were delicious tho so no real complaints. Love the blueberry lemon drop. The shrimp & scallops were very over powered by the grill taste. It wasn't a light char or subtle smokiness but it is called grilled shrimp & scallops so I blame myself. Overall it was okay food. We didn't complain because it wasn't bad just seems maybe a different cook or possibly different ingredients. But Aaliyah is the star of the show. She made the experience amazing. We did encounter issues that definitely dampened my mood and made this visit less enjoyable. I was part of a large party of 18 people. We decided to go to Bonefish Grill for a celebratory high school graduation lunch. Once we arrived, we informed staff of the amount of people in our party. They were able to accommodate us and seated us together by placing tables next to each other. Once seated, staff bought glasses of water for everyone and we were able to place appetizer orders. As we waited to continue placing our orders, a drop of water fell from above onto the table splashing some water into one of the glasses. We looked up and saw that condensation had gathered on the AC vent and was causing the water to form into bubbles and thus fall onto the table. We notified one of the staff members who went to inform the manager. The manager came out from the back and stood at a distance with the staff member and assessed the vent. The manager eventually came over and told us they would have to move us so that they could address the leak. We were moved and seated on the other side where we eventually finished placing our food and drinks orders. I ordered the Tempura Crunch Sashimi Tuna and a Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salmon Salad. To drink, I had the Crushed Pineapple Martini and the Coral Reef. I loved the food. That Crushed Pineapple Martini is dangerously good. I tried sipping to not drink it all too quickly and too fast. I didn't want it to finish. We noticed other tables receiving bread. I thought bread service was automatic. We had to ask for bread. The bread eventually was bought out but only to two tables. We had to ask for bread to be served to all tables. The service was lackluster. The bartender was also waiting on tables. The hostess was also waiting tables. Their attitudes at times were uninterested and as if we were a bother. Although they seemed to be short staffed the service could have been better than what we received. The stars given are just for the food and drinks. I do appreciate the manager taking care of moving us because of the leak. I truly was disappointed as I expected to receive even better service considering the leak and the inconvenience it caused.

Since it took over a failed Burger King, I wasn't expecting much, but the food seemed more elevated than the atmosphere. Not that it's a bad thing, but the food looks better than it is which brought it down a notch or two. Some of the dishes seem out of place at a counter service place. The spicy garlic fish with shrimp dish was good, but again, not really much spice and was just kinda there. It wasn't bad, but not great. That's the theme. I did like the condiment bar as they had lots of fixin's which invoked the Roy Rogers days of the Fixin's Bar. It was a good way to add some flavor to the dishes. Who else had Fixin's? Fuddruckers was the best at that with that Jalapeño cheese sauce! Viet-Nomz has all that Thai basil and cilantro. Yum! More places need fixin's! We ordered delivery on another occasion and I will say the ribs were pretty good and pretty meaty. That was probably the best thing there. The empanadas were big, but more shell than filling. I'd call them air biscuits more than an empanada. There are lots of choices from chickens to plantains to soups to steak to fajitas to fried rice to pork to shrimp to fish to calamari to yuca to corn to other stuff as well. It seems like a lot to maintain here which may be why it was all just there. After two tries, I doubt that I'd go back as I think there are better options for the price. The Ceviche alone is WAY overpriced and I doubt they're using Royal Red shrimp for it. However, if I did end up back here, I'd probably try a few more things, or just get ribs again.
