The Big Taco chain, little brother to Tijuana Flats, opened the Oviedo location after the Casselberry one. The food and service are the same - good and attentive - but the interior bright and festive decor stands out in the open layout. Menus are available at the beginning of the line, orders are taken, your name is asked, and then delivered by the calling out of your name as the employees walk by. If you order a refillable drink, you'll need to go up front to ask for a refill. A variety of hot sauces is located on a rack near the front door. I like the options. When we visited, our order was simple, two tacos each, but mine arrived with hard shells instead of soft. When I brought the meal back to the ordering area, they took it back, apologized, and quickly request the corrected order from the back. My favorite protein has been the steak, marinated and plentiful. On this occasion, my wife and I found a number of pieces that were inedible due to the fat or gristle. Overall, the menu choices and services warrant a return someday. read more

Wanted to try something new for Taco Tuesday. They had a two taco deal for $8.99 with chips and a drink. This place is literally essentially a Tijuana Flats. The tacos are the same long format, they have a hot sauce bar (though in bottles on the wall instead of a dispenser) and they also offer strawberry lemonade as a drink option. The Taco Tuesday deal is also exactly the same offering but a dollar more than my local Tijuana. Overall, other than the decor, this place was just a Tijuana Flats but more local. Also some of the hot sauces were kind of bad. Like not in that it was too spicy but that the flavor was off putting. read more

Let me just say, we LOVE BIG TACO! Found this little place off 436, tucked into a Publix plaza and boy, did it hit! I am a Mexican food junkie, and if your queso sucks, well, why do you exist?! Thankfully, the queso at BIG TACO quickly became a fan favorite! Their have amazing homemade guacamole and salsa as well. I order the nachos, which is a generous portion and comes with your choice of meats. My son loves the soft tacos, which is a nice platter that includes sides and rice. Every menu item we have tried has been amazing. Service is always with a smile. You order at the counter and then servers come and help with refills and food delivery. Ambiance is unique, with old school giant pop art paintings on the wall of Hip Hop greats. I would choose BIG TACO over other Mexican restaurants. First thing that I want to say is the staff are so friendly and welcoming. From the moment we entered, we were greeted and immediately asked if we needed any help with the menu. We came during the dinner rush, so there was a bit of a line, but it moved quickly. The dining room was packed so we decided to get our food to go. After a short wait, we received our food. My burrito bowl was a good size but the rice and beans were a little bland for my taste. I really enjoyed the chipotle sauce on top and that it was served with chips on the side. I also ordered a small queso and a large salsa. The queso and salsa were both pretty good. My husband ordered the chicken tacos, which he said were okay. We stopped in during opening week and the restaurant was fully staffed and ready to serve! We were enthusiastically greeted, refilled, and "showed the ropes" of their fresh and clean establishment. As the name implies, the tacos are big! I order 2 bean tacos with a double shell (flour and crunchy with a layer of cheese) and they were good and filing my daughter was not able to finish her taco duo--and she can put away some food. Eager staff one day into opening and they are keeping up with the dinner rush. They have a wall of sauce, funky decor, good music, ipa or sour beers and a bunch of young adults making this place a popular family and teen dining spot. Just tried Big Taco for the first time as we were craving Tex-Mex and like to give new places a try! I ordered a burrito bowl with Carnitas, my husband got two big tacos, and we got a chicken quesadilla to go. The burrito bowl was pretty good, the Carnitas were juicy and flavorful, but I would have preferred a little bit more meat and more lettuce as there seem to only be a very small amount of lettuce included. I tried the sweet chili Thai sauce, which was tasty with a little bit of heat. The chips are on the thicker side and well seasoned and tasted fresh. The queso Blanco was pretty good, although I like a little bit more peppers or some chunks in my queso. The tacos were good, beef was flavorful. They have hot sauce wall where you take a bottle to try. I wasn't drawn to any sauces but for the hot sauce fan, this may be a good selection. The service was great, very attentive. The decor is interesting, with paintings of famous images with masks to match the Big taco guy. All in all, decent addition to the tex mex options. read more

Just got back from Arizona with pleasure I pumped out two 5 star reviews all Mexican restaurants! Ok, back to Florida reality. Big Taco new here in Oviedo is in comparison to Tijuana Flats because the owner sold TJ and started Big Taco. Walking in I was greeted with respect and kindness. Looking around at the ambiance gave me a weird impression of Covid masks on celebrities. Maybe bandit masks... I would have thought of a better way to reinvent a catching character or theme. The food left a TJ Flat impression with little imagination to improve or separate itself from a past adventure. To me, this place gets an average score. read more

The hospitality from the whole staff was very welcoming and the service was fast and friendly! The aesthetic of the location is really great with all the decor and even live music. The steak in my taco was tender and super flavorful, and the fries were smothered with queso and honestly some of the best cheese fries I've ever had. This is more for the owner. I don't ever leave reviews or go on social media for that matter, but had to take the time to recognize this place and whatever they are doing. The food is great, decent price, but my interaction with Jake tonight set a new bar for word class service. I found them on google last minute, called in 20 minutes before they closed, and asked if it was too late to order- didn't want to be that guy. He assured me it was no problem, asked if it was my first time, and told me he'd throw in a little extra queso. Not only did he do that, he put a personal note that referenced a portion of our call where I mentioned I was a busy dad. This guy is the future of this place. I lead 100's of people and can tell when I meet a rare one. Keep promoting this young man. He gets it and will take this place to the moon. I plan to tell everyone about Big Taco! First time customer. I don't know why we waited so long. The food was amazing. My Sahara quesadilla was very cheesy and delicious. The jalapeno on top was crisp and crunchy.
