The service is definitely expensive when it comes to labor, but that's to be expected in Camarillo, sadly to say. However, the quality is unknown but always has the same vehicles in and around the building for a year or two. But I'm not gonna sit there and be charged almost $75-$80 for a smog inspection-check at this location when I can go to Moorepark's "Hi-Tech Auto & Tire Center" or even Thousand Oaks' "Smog Test Only Centers STAR certified" off of Skyline rd. and just get charged $40-50 and be in/out in 20-minutes max. Efficient, quick, and convenient! We arrived here on a Saturday morning, where we were greeted by two kind gentlemen. The girlfriend's car needed a smog check and wanted to be quick. They immediately assisted us, asked us to fill out some paperwork, and were out to perform the smog check within 5 minutes. One of the most convenient parts is that its located right next to Rolling Pin Donuts. Smog check took about 10-15 minutes. Took the RV here to get smogged...and that part was great! 10 minutes after I left, they called and said I'd scratched another vehicle on my way out. I'm driving a 36 foot RV. If i made contact with another vehicle there is NO WAY its a scratch. It would be some huge dent (RV is completely flat in back, nothing sticking out to scratch with). They demand i come back or they will call the sheriff....so i go back. There is a tiny white scratch (rv is black, car is blue). I tell them there is no way i did this, i have a backup camera, and the guy admits to not knowing if the scratch was there before but is blaming me because i got close to the vehicle. Its in a parking space where people are coming and going, there were multiple other cars there. Ridiculous. See photo. Trying to blame me for something that was already there or caused by someone else... called both the police and my insurance and both told me to just leave...guy was rude and confrontational. Filled out my paper work, gave them my keys, walked next door to Rolling Pin to get a donut while I waited and they were done before I even finished my donut. They also get hidden bonus stars for being walking distance from my house. Since I work 8-5 near LA, and their hours listed show open until 6, I called this morning asking the latest time they would allow me to show up. They let me know it wouldn't be a problem to arrive at 5:30. I got off work early to make sure I arrived by 5:30 and was told by the person when I arrived that he had already shut down the computer. After sharing about my previous conversation and explaining my situation multiple times, he finally agreed to turn back on the system. The service took about 10 minutes. Maybe the guy had a bad day and was checked out, but I was disappointed overall because I practically had to beg to help me out. Feel free to give them a shot. I am not sure how to rate this business because my experience was a little strange. I walked in and let the girl at the counter know that I needed a smog. She looked about 15 or 16 and did not even acknowledge me. Keep in mind the office is tiny. So I said it again. She walked over, started filling out paperwork and then handed me a clipboard and said "fill this part out". She went back to doing what she was doing which was a combination of sorting invoices and texting. I finished filling out the paperwork and said "I'm done". She never even looked at me she kept doing what she was doing. I literally stood there for five minutes and she did not even acknowledge me despite the fact that I am standing right over her at the counter. After five minutes, I announced again "I am done." No response. "What do I do with this?" She grabbed it from me and threw it in the window that divides the mechanic from the office. She did not say a word to me. No "have a seat" no nothing. After ten minutes I asked how long it would be and she said we need your key. That did not answer my question, how long would it be. She said it takes fifteen minutes. I KNOW THAT how long am I going to be waiting and she shrugged her shoulders. So I was left in a very cramped office where the only magazines are thirty year old National Geographic and some kind of decorating magazine. Bad day to forget my IPad. I didn't want to leave because She had the DMV paperwork. Turns out there were two in front of me so the wait was about 30 or so minutes. She never asked for my paperwork from the DMV so the mechanic had to come back in to get that. Once it got started all was smooth and the mechanic certainly seemed like he knew what he was doing. I watched him interact with customers and he is hurried but seemed quite capable and friendly. So I do not know what to say. A little communication would have made the place a four. They would not get a five because the accommodations for waiting customers fall way below standards. I am going to give it a three but honestly it should probably be a 2 based on the front office incompetence, lack of communication and overall lack of effort. read more

I can't say I would have work done on my car here, being somewhat of a mechanic myself. But you can't smog your own car so sometimes I have to take it to someone else. My friend and I showed up at 2:15pm on a Saturday. They close at 2:00 but the gentleman was more than accommodating. He said if we were willing to wait for him to finish up another smog test and a serpentine belt replacement he would smog the 'vette for us. Totally could have turned us away, but he didn't. Maybe it was because we were covered in grease and he could tell we had been working on the car all day so that it would pass. Maybe he is a nice guy. Or maybe he just wanted an easy 60 bucks.
