La's Street Food has had its signage up on Great Junction Street for a few months, and finally opened for business, last week.
I think the use of the term "street food" in their name is largely seeking to jump on the street food bandwagon, which generated considerable momentum in Edinburgh in 2013. Essentially, this is just a takeaway shop, with a range of things on offer like breakfast rolls, fish and chips, salads, pasta and other bits and bobs.
I munched a black pudding and bacon roll and am pleased to report that it was really very good, with the black pudding a cut above the usual standard. So, I'd recommend a visit, even although the place is likely to confound your expectations of what "street food" might entail.
Overall, we said: "aside from the minor quibble about the name, I thought La's was impressively good. I'm interested to see what their fish dishes entail, so must go back for another visit, soon. I'd certainly recommend their breakfast rolls, so do pop in, next time you're passing." read more
