Well we're in Huntsville AL and our hosts were thrilled to take us to this establishment. Upon arrival we noticed that the restaurant is only about half occupied with guests, so our expectations for great service and noteworthy cuisine was only elevated. We were sat almost immediately, then the chips and drink order were placed. The margaritas arrived and we placed our order and that's where the train departed the tracks. One in our group ordered chimichangas, but when we asked for one to be chicken, and the other beef, the perplexed look on the servers face necessitated a follow up question on our part. Us: "The menu says they are beef or chicken... that is correct right?" Server: "Yes?" Oh man. Another in our party asked for a number 19... the server (Arnold) promptly wrote it down and split! Us: "Hey Arnold, wait!" Server: "Yes?" Us: "Can we get that in chicken?" Server: "Get what in chicken?" Us: "The 19, the taco enchilada combo" Server: "No" Us: ... Server: ... Us: um... This restaurant was quite big! I came with a few friends to celebrate one of their birthdays and it was great! The customer service was excellent with the waiter being sure to attend us all and being quite fun! He was really helpful with anything we needed. The food was excellent and they have a good variety of vegetarian dishes. I highly recommend coming! They accept reservations and have bands playing from time to time! One of the workers spilled my moms entree all over her lap and a manager never even came out to apologize. Not to mention they had us move tables and left the mess all over the table and floor and took them over an hour to finally clean it up. We travel to Huntsville to work several times a year. We have eaten at Las Trojas Cantina many times. But, the prices have risen drastically and the quality of the food and service has declined. I ordered a fajita quesadilla cost almost $12 on the A Le' carte portion of the menu and was bland with no taste. At the Mexican restaurants we often frequent in our home area the same dish on A le'carte menu is $4.99 including veggies. The same including veggies at Las Trojas $18. We used to love this place. However, the last couple of visits here were enough to convince me not to come back. The food quality wasn't as good but most of all their prices have skyrocketed. Something most people would not think of trying in a Mexican Restaurant is the shrimp cocktail. Los Trojas has the best around. Lots of avocado, 14 huge shrimp in a cold spicy tomato cocktail. The only thing that can make this better is if I am doing Paint Nite with Christina. I have reservations in for another round of fun and yum! I have seen people complain about the wait. This is a great restaurant. Their salsa is good, chips are good and the food is good. I especially love their angel plate which is a huge burrito fried in a huge flour tortilla with chorizo spicy pork, grilled chicken, grilled steak, grilled shrimp with grilled onions. Then smothered in queso. Wow. Has a little of everything and is super tasty and just around $10. It's a full meal. The wait staff is informative, friendly and attentive. I had the worst experience ever here at Las Trojas Cantina, I got the fresh guacamole that was post to be prepared in front of me as advertised and it wasn't, I got the chicken nachos, the chicken was over cooked, the cheese dip sauce was water consistency , was told it was post to look like water milk. read more

I always get the same thing, quesadilla hawaiana, and it never disappoints. The menu is a little pricey compared to how it used to be, but if you go during their lunch hours (which end at 3pm), the prices are much more reasonable. Also the salsa that comes with the chips is one of the best compared to the other restaurants in the area. read more

Much more spacious, their menu has more varieties and I love the atmosphere. The decor and ambience of this place is awesome. Just a fun, relaxing, newly built Mexican restaurant. Very spacious and comfortable, with a good ol' boy playing acoustic guitar and singing. The waitress was friendly and very polite. The chips and salsa was pretty tasty, but I've had better. She kindly brought us out some hot salsa to go with the medium standard they served initially. I'm not a drinker, but my co-worker's Margarita looked delicious and was as big as your head! I ordered the beef/chicken combo fajitas and the flavor was great, with adequate toppings. My only complaint was the amount of meat was a bit lacking compared to all the peppers and onions. There was only one other negative - I witnessed one of the male waitstaff leave the restroom without washing his hands! At least it was only #1, and he was not our server. Love this place! It's always consistent and the food is always fresh. Salsa is great and the staff is great! The fajita nachos are huge! Lots of meat and veggies and plenty to share! On some nights they have trivia or a live band. The bar prices are great and the margaritas are even better. My favorite is the tropical margarita. Order a pitcher and share it amongst friends. They also have great cheese dip! Another favorite is the tres amigas. If you are hungry and want to split something, try out Angels plate. It's a massive burrito with fajita meats, shrimp and chorizo. It's smothered in cheese dip and is quite a site to behold. They also have daily specials and drink specials. Honestly only went for the trivia, and won't even go there for that anymore. WAY too overpriced for cheap Mexican food. $15 just for a vegetarian meal (spinach enchiladas) and $13 just for cheese and chicken (pollo loco, which didn't have enough cheese on it anyways. Long story short, $50 for 1 beer each and food is ridiculous. On top of bad service, (I had to show her on the menu that they even had veggies as a side)I could go to a 5 star restaurant with much better quality food. We will never be back. We brought an other trailer load of tools, motorcycles, personal stuff that would cost to much for movers to move here. We have done this now 4 x's already. Why is this important as far as were we are from? It didnt have any vegetable piece in there, you could of used on a pizza. Carna Asada was was a good piece of meat but it wasn't charred like I'm used to. They could of boiled it in a frying pan for all I know. My wife ordered to corn flautas, ( she doesn't eat gluten) They brought out two made with flour. We came to celebrate a birthday tonight. We were seated in the area to the right and crammed in. We ordered drinks 10 minutes before food. Somehow our food came out before our drinks. Then when the food arrived, only 3 of the 4 plates came out. We had to ask 3 different people for the 4th person's food. They finally brought it out 15 minutes after the rest. When the drinks did arrived they were watered down where they had obviously sat at the bar. They were also incorrect. When we asked to correct our waitress became very sassy. We stepped to the bar at the beginning and told the waitress it was our friends birthday. She agreed to do something but never followed through. The food came out and it was absolutely horrible from the tasteless tacos to the shoe leather they serve as carne asada. The waiter finally asked why we were not eating and we told him the food was not good. He leaves and the manager shows up and would not do anything about the food. After several minutes of discussion he told my wife she was rude for complaining and asked her "if you don't like my food then why did you come to my restaurant?" Worst Taco Salad I have had in my entire life and I've had a lot. Came in tiny shell and when I first looked at it I wondered where the meat was, not to mention it was the size of a side salad you get with a meal...It had 1 slice of tomato you would put on a burger thrown on top, they couldn't even bother to dice it up . They used wilted shredded lettuce not torn lettuce leaves you would normally have for a salad . Oh and one enormous scoop of sour cream to weigh it down. No onions , no guacamole, nothing to make it an actual salad. I pushed back the soggy shreds with my fork to uncover, soaking through the shell, ground beef swimming in grease. And I mean swimming. When I mixed it together it literally turned into a soupy mess of vomit like consistency. I tried my best to make the most of it and grabbed one of the stale chips we had been served and spooned it on a chip to eat like dip. I couldn't get past one bite. It made my stomach turn instantly. I called the manager over and politely expressed my disappointment. No apologies, acted like this wasn't the first time he's heard a complaint. No, how can I make this up , I'm so sorry, nothing. Just snatched up the bill and took the salads off and had the waiter bring it back , who was profusely apologetic. I have worked in the restaurant business for years so I knew it was no fault of the waiters and still left him a 50% tip for the 1 margarita I had. We called (7 times) for a Togo order at 9:15pm and were instantly greeted with an attitude on the phone saying "it will take 30 minutes do you still want to order?" And I said yes and placed my order. We arrive at 9:50pm and they tell us they have no Togo order and they can't do anything about it because it was so close to closing time. Pros: * The restaurant is enormous and the tables and booths are very comfortable. * Free Chips and Salsa for all guests * Huge food portions * Attentive Staff members * Free Trivia Competitions one night a week, with gift certificate prizes * Delicious Food * Ridiculously large menu with hundreds of choices, including some pretty exotic items! * Lunch specials * Extensive Drink menu, including Magarona - Margarita with a Corona Beer in it. * Daily Specials * The Fiesta Plate meal ($12.99) is more than enough for Lisa and I to share, with left overs! Cons * The parking lot isn't that big, so it can be difficult to find parking during peak times. Many people park in Ruby Tuesday's lot next door and walk over. * Free Trivia Competitions - If you come during trivia time, you have no chance of having a peaceful meal as the trivia questions are broadcasted over a loud speaker * The vast majority of the staff members aren't native English speakers, so I've had one or two occasions where there was a language barrier. * This is very much Americanized-Mexican food.
