The AAA affiliate of the New York Mets is know as the Las Vegas 51's. A pretty competitive team in the league the last few seasons with several players getting called up to the big leagues. The Baseball team provides some great family friendly entertainment during the summer months. Their calander is filled with give aways, promo nights, fireworks displays and my favorite $1 beer night on Thursdays. These game nights can get pretty packed. The 2016 season is over. Some tips for next year though, park at the Government building across the street and walk over to avoid costly parking fees. Check your mailbox often for those mailers to get BOGO ticket offers. Fill your pockets with peanuts and cracker jack before entering. Beware they offer a Yelp check in offer for a free 51's hat that they will not honor. And will complain about how they have been contacting Yelp to have it removed. Otherwise these 51's games are alot of fun. Prices start at $12 for adults and kids 4 and under are FREE!

I haven't been to a baseball game since I was a wee lass in elementary school. The strong smell of hot dogs wafting in the air and the rallying cries following Queen's "We Will Rock You" took me down memory lane. I went to watch the 51s play on the opening night of the season, on Friday 4/17/2015. According to the attendant at the box office, the game was nearly sold out! Luckily for me, I had won tickets from Yelp's Play Ball contest. I was seated in section 15 and had a good view of the game, the only obstruction to my view being some obnoxious cub scout kid who would not for the love of God stop waving his plastic giant blow-up Alien over his head. Can you tell kids aren't my favorite?? :P Some highlights of the opening game: * The 51s knocked two balls straight outta the park back to back, Babe Ruth style. * The 51s vs. Fresno game was pretty entertaining, and I for sure thought we had the game in the bag, but the final score was 11-10. * Be very wary of sitting directly behind the home plate. Two players knocked the ball way way up in the sky, and then the ball plummeted back into the crowd. One poor kid got knocked right in the noggin and the paramedics came out and everything. * There was fireworks after! But I didn't stay that long because I wasn't trying to get stuck in traffic. TIP:There's free parking in the State Office Building parking lot, otherwise it's $4. Worth a Return Visit? I had fun and would come back to watch another game. I want to come back on $1 Beer Night for sures! YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2015: #68

At the end of season 2018 the 51s will no longer be affiliated with the New York Mets. The 51s need to be restructured from every level. How are they giving this team a brand new stadium in Summerlin if their a losing team? Also a team name change is on the works, can't wait to see what they come up with.

Our view from the area we were in with the "bottoms up" beer machine below. Fascinating!!

I used to have a mini-season ticket to the 51s and then it seemed to become too much of a chore going to games so often and I fell away from going. With our Yelp event here, it was time for me to get back into the summer pastime and enjoy a ball game. The 51s have never been strong contenders for league winners. They have been affiliated with the Dodgers, the Blue Jays, and now the Mets. Except for the facts that the 51s won the other night, what fascinated me the most was seeing the "bottoms up" beer machine which was right below where I was sitting. It was $1 beer night, so there were a number of people coming by. I asked Jared N. and Anthony M. how the thing worked. A short lesson later, I was watching the little magnet being pushed up as the kindly barmaids pushed the cups onto the filler. Fantastic! There have been some rumors that the 51s will be re-branding and using a different name and a new theme. The team has been sold and the new owners want to build a new stadium a block from where I live. Gone may be the Area 51 reference in their name and the mascot, Cosmo. Speaking of Cosmo, anyone who has to prance around in an outfit like that when the summer temperatures are in the 100s deserves to be paid well! It's fun to go to a 51s game and I'll be back sooner than the years I've let go by without returning to Cashman Field for a game.

The only reason I dropped a star was for the team, I was disappointed in how poorly we played against the Sacramento River Cats. But the stadium is nice, it's changed alot since the last time I was there (many many years ago). The games are fun and affordable. Parking wasn't horrible either, $4 is a steal. The summer nights can be hot, but you can't hibernate inside all summer. $1 beer night (Thursday) was a great deal. I would go back and cheer on the 51's again. Hopefully they win next time.

Made it a priority on my last trip to Vegas to catch a 51s game. I'm glad I did! $4 to park and $17 to sit first row is bargain in the baseball world! I don't think I'd make it out to a 1:00pm game but the 7pm game was perfect. Everyone I chatted with that was somehow affiliated with the orgaization was great and made me and the gf (big baseball fans) feel welcomed!

Always an awesome night at the Old Ballpark. The Las Vegas 51's are starting their 35th season (2017) here and are the longest running sports franchises in this city. Gate's typically open an hour before the game and parking is $5 cash or card. Promotion nights have a huge turnout everything from bobbleheads, hats, jerseys and the ever popular Firework nights. Every Monday is $1 Menu night for peanuts, Cracker Jacks, Pretzels, Churros and Hot Dogs (Glutten free or Beef). Thursdays are $1 beer nights and you can only get 2 at a time the line can be really long so by the time you get your beverage you are back in line again so bring a friend. lol I love the new food choices and beer selection they have brought in this season, gone are the soggy nachos and hot dogs they are now replaced with great quality products with fresh toppings and avacodo. Naked City Pizza is a fantastic upgrade as well and a 6 slice. cheese pizza will cost you $12. There is a even a healthy Menu concession with fruit bowls, wraps, salads and vegan nachos. Dippin Dots, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, and Ben and Jerrys round out dessert options. The staff is friendly and engaging (shout out to Beerguy Bruce) So bring your glove, Love for the game and now an appetite because the 51's finally have great food to go with the their professional team! Enjoy your night at the Ball Game!!

So this year we splurged and got season tickets in the park's restaurant lounge. Our ticket rep was able to get us the second row table right behind home plate which allows for some great views. Positive - First of all the staff, they are great!!!!! I almost felt like I was hanging out with a fellow baseball fan and had some great conversations. Having our own amenities made you feel your were getting the VIP treatment. We get the radio broadcast feed in the lounge so we can keep with with what is happening since we cannot hear the park announcers. Seating was old but comfortable and having free range of the lounge it was easy to get up and stretch your feet without disturbing anyone. With the team moving next year, I will just briefly mention that its a good thing as the park could use a refresh. The other concern I have was with the buffet. I thought the food could have been a little better for the price, everything was kinda salty. But you do have options for ala carte or can go and grab concessions so there are other options. In closing, I am looking forward to hanging out with some great people and getting to know the staff and I am excited to see the new park

Got my free 51s cap! Thanks Yelp!!!!

I enjoyed my very first live baseball game here! I know...don't judge me. Los Angeles Dodgers and the Las Vegas 51s. It's just so hard to watch it on television but it is definitely different in person. The beer I heard is only 1.00 each on Thursdays, so I am coming back for sure. Keep in mind that the draft beers are 6.50 - 8.50 on normal days. Hot dogs are 4.50 (pretty high for a normal plain hot dog) but it is a live game. They give a lot of freebies out, not just the fly balls but I got a free 51s cap for checking in for my first time at the stadium with my Yelp account. When we entered into the gates upon check in they gave us each a water cooler pouch. Seating was pretty good, 11 bucks for assigned seating with a really clear view of the game. If you want, you can sit in the grass area and let the kids run free. I can say that this is a highly recommended stadium.

Just landed from my first ever 51s game, and the only thing that is standing in the way of a 5-star rating is you. That's right: you. Were you there? Well, if you answered yes, then I am not talking to you, I am talking to all the other yous who stayed home tonight to watch whatever comes on TV on Thursday nights. Be honest with yourself. Rooting for sports teams is arbitrary. You rarely know anyone on the field, and even more odd, the majority of the people on the field are not from the town emblazoned across their jersey. There is no logical reason why the team, regardless of the sport or city, should earn the support of locals. It is simply mass hysteria, a.k.a. spirit. Of course, it helps if the team is good. The 51s are not that great this year. They are currently last in their division, but tonight they beat Fresno, the number one team, 8-4. And, yes, hearing the announcer butcher the names of the opposing team was pretty darn hilarious. I swear Brock Bond was "Frog Bun." Still, a packed stadium of screaming, rowdy fans could have added even more to the enjoyment. This may be random, but I think if fans brought things to barter that would be brilliant. The Yelp Cheer Squad had some hats, and these hats were like camaraderie gold, as was $1 Bud. Easy to make friends on Bud. Disclaimer: Our tickets were free, and we got dapper hats, too. Still, I really find it hard not to love a shared experience of cheering. I only wish there had been at least 4000 of my closest Las Vegas friends there to yell "Charge" and belt "Take Yelp Out to the Ballgame." Next time, I'll be lookin' for ya.

"I need a minute to get my head straight "Just to hit it before it's too late "Innocent, considering my middle name is 'Shake My Body' "Take a seat it's glittering, I shimmy and I shake my body." [Chorus x2] ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the only true professional sports team we have in our little Entertainment Capital of the World, so we will make the best of it, dammit! For the Troll Flaggers/Worthless Yelp HQ employees I drive a motor vehicle to the Boulevard exit of the US-95; I bypass the stadium entrance and instead park for free [PRO TIP: save 4$ every game] at the library lot for day games or the Natural History Museum/Heritage Park lots for night contests. I walk to the Will Call box office window. I retrieve my tickets. I walk into the ballpark through the south gates -- getting my free promo if it is a promo night -- and grab a free program on the way to my bleacher seats. Is that "enough detail about [my] customer experience[,]" you no-life-having trolls? No? Alright. I grab some water from the fountain [PRO TIP: save 10$ every game] or bubbler if you are Bostonian, watching it flow into my Yelp bottle (thanks Norm!) while listening to sweet sounds of annoying Top-40 hits over the PA. I take my seat and place my bottle under the bleacher so that it is not heated by the direct overhead sun rays. I read a few pages from a non-fiction baseball book that I brought for in between innings and before the first pitch. Still not enough customer experience? Pitches are thrown by the appropriate players. I clap. Swings are made by the appropriate players. I clap. Calls are botched by the appropriate officials. I grab the top of my head and boo furiously. I stand up when a 51 blasts a home run [PRO TIP: they can also be called homers]. I point at pop fouls so that those that are not paying attention in the section can be made aware that a fast dropping ball [PRO TIP: gravity, bro.] may be coming down to meet the top of their skulls. Is that enough customer experience, useless imbecile at Yelp HQ? Sometimes I use the restroom. I walk in through one door, wash my hands, relieve myself, wash my hands again [Pro Tip: this time I dry them as well], then walk out the other door. At this time, I take advantage of the fountain/bubbler outside the restroom and collect more delicious Lake Mead drinking water into my Yelp bottle. Is that enough? A History The XFL once had a franchise here -- when there was an XFL to have franchises -- and that experiment ended quickly. There was some other American football league trying to make the best of the offseason of the shit NFL season, and the Las Vegas team won the championship (yay!); however, no one knew nor cared. And there are the Outlaws, an Arena Football League (AFL) franchise, but hardly anyone attends the games and it probably does not help that they are impressively terrible. usatoday.com/story/sports/2014/11/05/las-vegas-pro-sports-major-league-soccer-nba-nhl-mlb/18562353 Why baseball? Well, American football is not going to happen, so why not? Sure it is hot as all hell. Sure the park is not the most modern (when Fresno has one that looks state-of-the-art in comparison, then building a new one should be in the works). Sure the traffic patterns during ingress and egress could use some work. But, it is America's Pasttime, goddammit! theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2013/10/sorry-nfl-baseball-is-still-americas-pastime/280985 51's The final step before making the New York Metropolitans, the Las Vegas 51's enjoy fielding some of the best of the National League has to offer who are recuperating from injuries as well as younger prospects on their way to the Big Leagues. They also play against the best, e.g., 24-million-dollar man Jake Peavy (SF) got lit the hell up by the 51's this season: milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2015_06_26_srcaaa_lvgaaa_1&t=g_box&sid=t400. This season they sit comfortably at #1 of the division, just like last year. (They ended up losing in the conference series to Reno.) There may be no better time to break out a Hamilton for a simple bench ticket and a bunch of Washingtons for beer on dollar beer night and make a night of professional baseball your entertainment choice of the evening. Brooks Conrad, the First Baseman There is no manlier name in all of baseball. Cosmo, the Mascot He could benefit from a bit of weight loss. He will never win a race around the bases until he does so. Area 51, the fanatics More cowbell, more vuvuzela, and more waves. Get up off your asses .... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rating: Four-stars, "Yay! I'm a fan."

Favorite usher, Scott. Last home game of the season.
    Greg A.

Dollar menu night and a great game. A big shout out to Section 16 usher, Scott, for looking out for the kids. Always get an appearance by Cosmo in the first inning and some of the players will sign autographs after the game. Parents need to sign their kids up for Cosmo's Kids Club. $30 for a tee shirt and one ticket to every Sunday-Wednesday home games. $1 Menu night Mondays and $1 beer Thursdays. Usually have a promotion going on Friday and Saturday nights. $4 to park.

I had the most wonderful experience thanks to Mary Beth!…read more I ordered the 10-ounce sirloin with Marsala mushroom sauce and it was absolutely delicious--after a small hiccup that turned into exceptional customer service. When I ordered, Mary Beth asked exactly how I wanted my steak cooked. I explained that I like it somewhere between medium-rare and medium, as long as it's still pink inside. When my steak arrived, Mary Beth took one look at it and thought it might be a little overcooked. Before serving it, she asked me to cut into it and make sure it was right. While it was still somewhat pink, it was a little drier than I prefer. I was prepared to eat it anyway, but she immediately insisted on having it remade. The second steak was perfect and absolutely worth the wait. It was tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly the way I wanted it. Honestly, it was a 20 out of 10! It had me doing a happy dance at the bar, and I'm still thinking about it days later. The food was amazing, but what truly made the experience memorable was Mary Beth's attention to detail and outstanding customer service. She genuinely cared about making sure everything was perfect, and that level of hospitality is rare. Thank you, Mary Beth, for such a wonderful experience. You left a lasting impression on me, and I highly recommend grabbing a seat at the bar and letting her take care of you!

We decided to have dinner before playing, and we were happy to see an updated menu. It was actually good, and this is coming from someone who is not a big fan of cheese. I tried the teriyaki steak entree which comes with "frizzled onions" and loaded mashed potatoes. I was actually impressed! The steak was actually fairly tender (not a filet mignon tender, but not bad!). I really enjoyed the pineapple slices, and the teriyaki sauce was not too overwhelming. The loaded potatoes were also really good. The portion size was overall just right! We were curious about the bananas foster pie, but we decided to try that next time. Our server was super friendly and attentive! Overall, this was a very tasty dining experience!
