This was my go to spot for fajitas until I went back last night. Now the owner has saw fit to limit lettuce, sour cream,Pico de Gallo and guacamole portions to a strict 2 ounces each through the use of little stainless portion cups. Service and food quality are always on point but food portions suck. Owner should be reminded that there are around 15 Mexican restaurants in Decatur with a new one opening about every 3 months and that if he continues to try to screw his customers on food portions his days in business are more than likely numbered. read more

I don't often get to visit Las Vias, but I'm pretty psyched when I do. The main reason is their Chilaquiles Mexicanos. They are the best I have had at any place around, and I have tried them all! Their creamy jalapeño dip is pretty dang good too! I'd definitely recommend giving them a try. If you've never had Chilaquiles I recommend them too! read more

Last week, John R and decided last minute on dining out instead of cooking and of course, his pick was Mexican. We were nearby and I was about out of calories for the day, so we decided on Las Vias on 6th ave so I could get a healthy Shrimp Cocktail. Well, that went out the window when we were seated and given a new menu sheet as an addendum to the existing menu. What stood out to me? Of course it was Quesabirrias. Certainly not low calorie lol but I'm on the hunt for the best ones around so I couldn't resist. They were pretty good, but not my favorite. John got his typical mixed fajitas, but Hawaiian style, and they were really good as usual. I tried the street corn dip (I think that's what it was called; maybe roasted corn dip?). It didn't taste much different than their usual cheese dip. Still good, just nothing extraordinary. Not enough corn or peppers to be anything besides cheese dip. Again, it's cheese dip so it's still good! There are several other dishes on the new menu I'm wanting to try soon though! My usual go-to is Queso Fundido and it is delish (not pictured)! Thick, gooey cheese with chorizo and roasted poblano. Las Vias will always be a regular stop for us in Decatur. #HeatherEats read more

Solid Mexican food via Waitr delivery. I ordered the Chile Coyote which was basically Chile rellanos on sautéed mushrooms with rice and beans and and order of chips and queso with sides of sour cream and pico. Everything was fresh and still warm with the rellano not making the trip to my hotel room in its best form but was certainly tasty. The chips were warm and fresh, the rice and beans as good as most Mexican restaurants I've been to and the sides of pico de gallo, sour cream and spicy tomatillo sauce were all very good and very fresh. The queso was good but a little runny. Overall a really nice meal and it certainly beat venturing out in stormy weather or a pretty uninspiring room service menu. read more

Tonight will be mine and the wife's last night eating here at this Las Vias. We will go to the Las Vias on the Beltline. The last two visits we had the same waiter and he has been a total failure. He is slow and not very attentive to his customers. The sad thing is that also tonight our food was mediocre at best. Our cheese dip was so watered down we called it cheese water. There are usually two gentleman there that we believe are the owners but we have not seen them in awhile. If they are the owners they need to maybe take a look at what's going on more during the afternoon hours. I hate that I have to give such a bad review but when this happens the last two times that we have been at the restaurant this is what we must do to make sure that they make the changes they need to make to get back to the Las Vias we love. read more

I really like this place. I enjoy the jalapeño dip and have been pleased with all of my food. I really enjoyed the Shrimp Burrito, Mercedes Special, and the authentic chicken in hot sauce dish. I didn't give it 5 stars because sometimes the service is hit or miss. Although my last visit, we had a young man that just started serving tables. He was very friendly and personable. To start off the chips were really light. I love light chips. The salsa was definitely made for bland white people, and it was it was about as tasteless as a bowl of pace picante sauce, although the yogurt green salsa they serve beside it was very good and had a nice easy kick to it! Very tasty! The fajitas were loaded down with all the good stuff (had the especial something with chorizo and carne asada) snd it was fantastic! The waiter forgot my guacamole but by the time I realized it it didn't matter, I had already devoured half of it. The beer was good and cold, and didn't have to ask for a lime. Our waiter was super nice, we will definitely be back. I don't know why all the bad reviews here but they sound like a bunch of Karen's complaining about not getting enough free ranch. Food and service were both pretty bad. The margaritas use a syrupy pre-made mix and the steak was extremely overcooked and tough. I had asked for tomatoes and cilantro and never received either. Server never came to check on us. I feel bad but I don't really have anything good to say about this place. Look elsewhere for good Mexican food. read more

This restaurant has very good food, the only problem is that it needs pest control services very badly. I had went in and had a great meal and when it was time to leave a roach crawled across the table. I told the owner what happened and she said the booth was full of roaches and they had been unable to kill them, and this happened all the time when people were eating in this particular booth read more

Disappointed this evening as food was below their usual standard. Burrito Plaza was ordered with chicken but found steak pieces inside. Looked like it started out as a steak burrito and quickly changed to my order of chicken. As for taste it was bland. Really lacked proper seasoning. Wife ordered taco salad and it too was disappointing. Really need to insure better quality in their kitchen. As for staff front of house also sub par this evening as customers had to look them up to be seated. All in all a 2 star evening at a otherwise outstanding restaurant. The food was not good at all at this location. I ordered flautas - two beef, two chicken...I got 4 chicken. I took forever to flag down the waitress. When I finally got my two beef flautas, everyone was about through with their meal and to make matters worse, they were ground beef, not shredded beef. I have never had ground beef flautas ever, only shredded beef. The corn tortillas are supposed to be crispy - these were soggy. The one in Hartselle is so much better and the wait staff is much more attentive. I don't know why Decatur restaurant is so different. read more

Awful! I had a flavorless chicken quesadilla and my husband had a beef burrito. The chicken was soggy like it had been sitting in water before being put on a tortilla. His burrito was covered in some bland sauce. We will be going somewhere else for Mexican food. read more

Definitely my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Decatur. Jalapeño dip... Yum! Tacos Carne Asada... Yum! Add the two together and you have a happy fat kid. Oh, and you can get them with bacon too. My food was hot around the edges but cold in the center with gristle bits in the taco meat and I got major attitude when I asked the waitress to take it back. I saw a roach in the lady's room and didn't find it amusing to be made fun of in another language by the staff (I speak Spanish). This place used to be amazing. I guess the awards went to the owner(s) head(s) and they believe they don't have to try anymore. Good luck with that. We won't be back.
