Hello to charm and romance. This is a beautiful space surrounded by plants and greenery. The food is exceptional. We started with the scallops which were seared perfectly with a savory and smoky chourico crust. The scallops were topped with a bright molho cru which is a Portuguese medley of garlic, parsley and chili paste. There's more-underneath these gems was a sweet potato purée which was smooth and rich. The medley was fabulous. For entree we tried the Bacalhau no Forno which is a traditional baked casserole made with cod and potatoes. It was nice to try a classic Portuguese dish but I would probably try something else. This was our choice for dinner on a special one night getaway to Sonoma. So many places to choose from in the Sonoma Plaza area, but for a beautifully mild evening we wanted to eat outside. Reservations were made and we showed up to find a cute little restaurant tucked in the back of a side street off the plaza. We were seated on the patio which had lots of 2 & 4 top tables. A very pleasant space that didn't feel cramped. We were excited for some bold flavors and original interpretations of Portuguese cuisine, and were not disappointed. The kitchen sent out an amuse bouche of shrimp croquettes to start us off. One bite each of a crispy fried shell with delicate ground shrimp filling. They sat on a small remoulade-like sauce and had a dollop of crème fraiche on top. Perfection. For entrees, we chose the fish fillet of the day (a barramundi (bass-like ocean fish from Australia) on a bed of sautéed collards. And a modern interpretation of Portuguese/Brazilian feijoada (a rich stew of pork, sausage, black beans, and rice. Both dishes were utterly delicious, albeit on the smaller side. If you want to leave feeling full, you're going to need to pad out your meal with starters or sides, which should do the trick. But plan to leave with a tab that will cause some sticker shock. Portion size to value ratio notwithstanding, no notes on the flavors whatsoever. The cooks are working magic. Service was warm, inviting, and efficient (no lags on orders arriving on time or lack of server checking in). Would happily return as we still have our eye on the pork belly, pork and clams, and the port wine flights. read more

We love LaSalette for their outstanding Portuguese food & wine and their consistency. My husband can always count on getting a delicious whole Bronzino (Mediterranean Sea-bass), and my dayboat scallops are always cooked to perfection. This time we went for Mother's Day and mom had the pot roast/short ribs dish and it was so delightful with the meat perfectly braised & falling apart with savory mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. Their chocolate piri piri ice cream with some heat always delights us: we literally love it. They also always do generous little chef surprise bites (always on point & so good!) and this time it was a one-bite fried shrimp cake in a delicious red pepper sauce. The ambience is nice - whether you're inside or out on the patio - and the service is generally good (definitely could use a few more table touches to make sure people have everything they need so guests don't wait for more wine or a bill) and very kind. We are locals, and there are only a handful of restaurants we would recommend in Sonoma and LaSalette is definitely at the top of the list. 5-stars read more

Our server and server assistant were honestly amazing. So friendly and attentive to our needs, promptly clearing dishes throughout our courses. They brought out an amuse Bouche for us to start which was a quick tasty bite. I had to try the braised pork belly. Best thing I had all night. Fork tender and so delicious with the apple lardons. I wish they kept the skin or made it crispy to give it a little crunch. But it was still an amazing dish, I could've eaten 20 more. Fisherman stew, Feijoada and Fish casserole cake were all so flavorful. Classic Portuguese dishes that we thoroughly enjoyed. For me I had the catch of the day that came with a bed of grilled corn, collard greens and something like a pico on top. Everything tasted fresh and went very well together. We had a fantastic meal at LaSalette and were lucky enough to snag seats at the bar, where we could watch the chefs prepare dishes in the wood-fired oven. We started with a refreshing cucumber gazpacho with shrimp, followed by amazing baked oysters. The star of the evening was the whole roasted branzino. We each enjoyed a wine flight, and the chef made the experience even more special by starting our meal with complimentary shrimp croquettes and ending it with a wonderful homemade truffle. Everything went well. It was warm so we chose to eat lunch inside. We soon ordered Scallips and split the tomato salad. Compliments of the Chef my wife and I each received a small crab cake. We wanted to get out of SF to enjoy some nicer weather and found ourselves enjoying a beautiful day in Sonoma. After checking out the restaurants around the main square, we decided to try La Salette, as its Portuguese menu stood out with its unique offerings and tasty options. Shortly after ordering, we were provided with a free amuse bouche from the chef, shrimp croquettes with a slightly tangy sauce and salsa brava. The shrimp croquettes were crispy, yet also light and zesty; a beautiful start to the meal. I also ordered a caipirinha, my go-to cocktail when I lived in Brazil. La Salette's caipirinha was extremely delicious, with a healthy dose of lime and mint that washed down nicely with the cachaça. For starters, we began with the grilled octopus and tomato salad. The grilled octopus was cooked perfectly and paired nicely with the red wine vinegar, fingerling potatoes, and pickled seaweed. The heirloom tomato salad was absolutely fantastic, as the tomatoes were perfectly ripe and were complemented nicely with the chickpea puree and feta cheese. This was my favorite bite of the night. For entrees, we tried the bacalhau no forno, the caldeirada, and the açorda de Trigo. My mom loved the bacalhau no forno, which was a bit lighter than she was expecting but had a great punch of flavor between the salted cod, potatoes, onions and olives. My dad and I also really enjoyed the caldeirada, which had a generous portion of sea bass, scallops, clams, mussels, potatoes, shrimp, and linguiça in a flavorful broth. This reminded me a little bit of cioppino given the copious amount of seafood, although it had more of a velvety tasting broth without the flavor of tomatoes. Finally, my partner really enjoyed the açorda de Trigo, which had a perfectly poached egg that created a velvety sauce over the farro, mushrooms, and pine nuts. For dessert, we all split the fruit plate, which was the highlight of the meal. We really loved how the dessert was more of an assortment of tasty dishes that complemented each other nicely, rather than one single dish. All of the components of the dessert were fantastic: the poached pear had a nice spiced taste, the macerated mango was super sweet and tangy, and the pineapple semifreddo was velvety and tangy. But, the passion fruit cannoli was truly unreal. The tang of the passion fruit and light crisp of the cannoli shell were incredible. Would highly recommend trying this or their other desserts, as they all looked incredible. All in all, given the fantastic restaurants in Sonoma, La Salette is a great choice if you're looking for something unique that highlights local fruit and produce, as well as meat and seafood options. We make the 3 hour drive to La Salette and back 3 or 4 times a year. Always worth it. Chef Manuel always has some new and outstanding. Last night it was the cucumber gazpacho. And the heirloom tomato salad surprised us. We did not expect such perfect tomatos at this time of year. Barramundi filets came on top of a bed of roasted sweet corn and bitter greens ... brilliant combination! Having spent 22 summers in a Portugese fishing village I usually get the Bacalhau or the pork and clams. Bacalhau last night was 'died and gone to heaven'. Dessert trios are small enough not to be overfilling but large enough to share. The culinary experience and the service are top tier but the prices are moderate. Hard to find a restaurant that can equal this one. read more

I think this was my 3rd time visiting LaSalette. Have always loved the food here. This was the first restaurant where I tried authentic Portugese food. And, then I also went to Portugal a couple of years ago, and loved the baked casserole with salt cod and potatoes i had there. Had been trying to find that at a few other Portugese places but none came close until I tried that at LaSalette. So yum! Service was great as always, even though it was super crowded for Mother's day. We had arrived a little earlier than our reservation time, but they were able to find us a table quickly. Their sardines are a must have! And, if you have sweet tooth, do try the traditional rice pudding with cinnamon, braised fig, and ice cream sandwich combo in dessert. So yum! read more

Best food in all of Sonoma. Service, food presentation and flavor is fine dining experience at Bistro prices. This is an amazing hidden gem. If it was on the Main Street you couldn't get a seat. But it is tucked away and so it is worth looking for it. We've so far tried the tomato soup, octopus, sardines, pulled pork, scallops and chicken salad and of course the pear desert. Absolutely 10 out of 10!!!! All I would improve is that its location be closer to my home!! I would eat here every other day!! Thanks again for a perfect lunch yet again. Great place in Sonoma for a fancy dinner out. We came last weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a great experience. As soon as we got seated they brought us champagne and a mini shrimp croquette amuse bouche. We started off our meal with oysters baked in butter with chorizo (appetizer special). Then we had the octopus and finished with the branzino (dinner special). The oysters were a little on the small side, but they tasted amazing. I regret not coming here sooner. We have been visiting Sonoma for many years, and have walked by LaSalette many times, better late than never. What a nicely honed, perfectly curated menu they have. They have indoor and a nice out door dining area. The decor is understand, with sepia colored tiles showing hanging game , copper pots and pans, nice brickwork and wood feel floors w/ white table cloth tables. The service was very prompt and efficient. Our server knew the wines and all the dishes so we had no problems deciding on pairings. One nice thing is that they offer 3 oz. glasses of vino for under $ 10- so you can do matching flights w/o breaking the bank. Everything we had was superb . Portions were ample, flavors and presentation really well done. We even got a 4 part Traditional dessert w rice pudding, fig, + and some Port to top it off. In my opinion, the best dining experience in Sonoma. Fantastic food, definitely order the scallops and octopus. Be sure to ask your friendly server if they have the oysters with chorizo on special, order them and don't think twice, they're terrific. With indoor, outdoor and bar/chef's counter seating available, you really can't go wrong. Heat lamps are available outside as well so if it gets too chilly for you at night, they'll fire them up for you.
