Ambiance, also good or better than good... if you can get over the battleship gray that has been plaquing restaurant interiors for the last decade. And a great location if you already found parking. We had the Thai Green Chicken Curry & Mediterranean Sea Bass which were both phenomenal! Our waiter was extremely kind and brought us glasses of Rosé as a birthday treat. He also offered us dessert and we ended up getting vanilla ice cream topped with a spicy pistachio sauce, which was fabulous! I was even sung Happy Birthday by the restaurant! There was another woman celebrating her birthday who received the same treatment. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday dining experience. To be honest we couldn't get a reservation at our first choice so decided to give MOZAIK a try and so glad we did. I was a little intimidated by the eclectic menu but everything we had was deliciously prepared and tasty. The restaurant feels romantic with just the right amount of soft lighting and decor. The staff are all professionally dressed and gracious. This is the perfect place for a date night for that special person. We split a Caesar salad with prawns -so delicious! There were several problems. We arrived at the restaurant at 430pm. the lunch menu looked boring. So I asked the guy if I can look at the dinner menu. He refused. He said I couldn't look at it until 5pm. So I ordered the afternoon special at 5 items for $29. Not only we had to wait almost 40 mins for the items to come. By 5pm, the food still wasn't delivered. When it finally arrived, the food was so small portions, I wasn't fulll at all by the end. I had to order two other dishes just to get full. The waiter was not flexible and friendly. He could have have let me see the dinner menu, put in the order at 5pm, this would be a much better solution for everyone. The service was mediocre and slow. Stumbled across Mozaik after wine tasting nearby and their happy hour quickly caught my attention. They have a flight of tapa bites for their HH menu, I believe 5 for $30 or 3 for less which I thought was a steal! They all sounded yummy so we opted to try all 5. The presentation was super cute too, the food came in dipping sauce platters with 3 of each to try. Some notable mentions were the hummus & falafel, meatballs, and some type of chicken shawarma! A place in Sonoma finally open past 7p!! After hearing the sausage emporium closed, I was delighted to learn Mozaik is the same owner & staff and had to try it. I came here last night and was super excited to learn they were open until 9p on Thursday since everything else seems to close so early. I was also really excited to see the menu, everything available is very innovative. The cocktails were great but the food was EXCELLENT. The asiago gnocchi was rich and delicious , the pork belly naan flatbread was fantastic with the melted brie, and the moroccan bocadillo was also amazing. Girls weekend in Sonoma, and we were looking for a place for dinner that had something for all 4 girls. We found it! The vibe is perfect. The space is small and intimate. The service is amazing. Reviewed reviews prior to making reservation and saw positive feedback. Made reservation for lunch on Saturday with my wife on Memorial Day weekend. Pleasantly surprised that restaurant was located down the street from Sonoma Plaza. Found parking a short walk away. The restaurant was in a bright modern location. Anticipated more diners on a holiday weekend but found just two other parties along a bar-like table. The owner named David welcomed us and invited us to sit wherever we wanted. Menus were given to review and water was provided. The menu was the same as shown on the website with dishes positively reviewed by diners. We chose the short rib, meatballs, gnocchi and sweet and spicy carrots to try and affirm with the same results as previous diners. They were spot on! The short ribs were three boneless tender and tasty slices with chimichurri and mashed potatoes. The meatballs were also great with spices that reminded me of Morocco. The gnocchi was good....not on the same level as the short rib and meatballs. The carrots made us forget about the shortcoming of the gnocchi as they provided a welcoming profile. We happily finished the four dishes...unfortunately leaving us no room for dessert. We wondered what the other dishes we didn't order would be like and resigned to have to wait for our next visit. The meal was worthy to stand up to other Bay Area restaurants. I like the big window that opens up onto the street giving it an indoor outdoor feel. The service here is great. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable folks. We split a few things. I came in hungry, full of hope, and left with trust issues. My steak arrived looking less like something from a cow and more like something the cow might have stepped on. The texture was... puzzling. Imagine chewing a leather wallet that's been left in the sun all day, but wetter. I ordered medium rare. What I received was a crime scene--cold in the middle, burnt on the outside, and somehow both dry and soggy at the same time. It's the kind of cooking that makes you question whether the grill was turned on or if the chef just stared at it until it browned out of shame. The seasoning? Nonexistent. It tasted like the cow died of boredom. The only positive note was that the steak knife was sharp enough to remind me what cutting should feel like, which was more than the meat managed to deliver. I went to the Square and even though the bathroom said vacant the doors were locked and I was supposed to meet my friends at the 2 PM Pangloss seating. They were not letting anybody in so I went next-door. I ran in. I did not think it would be an issue. I said I would be happily pay for wine or food, but immediately the woman sitting at the table raised her hand, yelled at the server and Yelled to them like she was snapping her finger at them "Person using the bathroom" As I stated before offered to pay for anything and said it was an emergency the owner made the guy walk me out like how elite and snotty and pretentious. Do you have to be to be like that? She stood there and watched and I said really what I have to use the bathroom really bad I've offered to buy something and she just looked at me with her Rich snotty ass even though I'm a nurse I make very good money and she treated me this way. What an entitled b - Mind you I'm dark skinned so how dare she actually let a colored woman use her bathroom and immediately called me out the moment I walked in. We wanted to change our reservation to a later time and the restaurant was able to do that with ease. When I walked in, there was nobody at the host stand or entrance. My wife and I walked over to the bar and an employee helped us in getting seated. Mosaik is a smaller restaurant than the images led me to believe. The overall feel/vibe was pleasant with soft music playing in the background. Our server was great. I told her what I liked in a wine and she suggested one that I loved. My wife ordered an espresso martini and enjoyed it greatly. We ordered the Thai green chicken curry, the sweet & spiced carrots, and the asiago stuffed gnocchi. Asiago stuffed gnocchi: It was amazing. I wish we had three orders of it. It was perfectly creamy and full of flavor. The fresh cheese on top and seasonings added a nicely balance of texture. Thai green chicken curry: It was hard to believe that someone made the gnocchi and this. This isn't a dish that we would normally order, but it sounded interesting and the server said that it was only on the menu for a limited time, so we gave it a go. It reminded me of when I would eat boxed Zatarain's. I don't know if there's anything else to really say about it. It was underwhelming. Sweet & spiced carrots: If you like your vegetables to be sweet, you'll like this a lot more than we did. I would describe the hot, spicy honey tasted more like slightly spiced honey. I didn't think it was spicy at all. The sauce was overpowering, the pistachios didn't do anything for me, and again, just overall underwhelmed with the dish. The silverware and plates were very light-weight and the table was not sturdy that we were seated at. These aren't a big deal, but not something that I would expect from an American food-chain, not a place in Sonoma that is trying to be more upscale. I also overheard an employee complaining to another employee about a third employee. This doesn't bother me, but worth noting and is unprofessional. I struggled between 3 and 4 stars, so as an attempt to help others and be "nice," I will give this a four star review. But.... here's the scoop. Starting with the braised short rib: I would say the way the mashed potatoes were done were definitely 5 star, and the Demi glaze was solid too. Unfortunately, the meat seemed like it was cooked in an Insta pot as opposed to being braised because the texture wasn't there - if you have any experience in braising short ribs you'd instantly recognize this. Also, the chimichurri and its bitterness seemed to conflict with the demi glaze, so it just left you sort of confused with the dish. The Szechuan wonton and prawns definitely sounded appealing. The actual experience was OK, and if you want to repeat this at home, it would be really easy by going to Costco and buying the Bibiogo wontons, a bottle of sweet Thai chili sauce, toss in a bit of chili crisp, and then some shrimp or prawns with green onions on top. Depending on how/where you grew up, this could easily be a meal you put together with leftovers in the house. (This is sort of a "you don't know what you don't know" situation) We definitely give 5 out of 5 stars for the blonde lady who was working the front of the house by herself - she was so friendly and inviting, and definitely kept up the customer service despite flying solo during dinner service. read more

FABULOUS! The food and service was exceptional. Miranda, the owner, took great care of us. Love the vibe, ambiance, decor, music...just loved this place. For beverages, they provide wine, beer, and agave based "cocktails" (no spirits) but honestly, these were quite tasty and the presentation of them was a 10/10. This could be a dangerous place for us if we lived closer. I am sure though that our friends who live in Sonoma that we dined with (and recommended we go to Mozaik) will be frequent patrons. =) read more
