This place only gets three stars for the shear comedy of the whole thing. Otherwise it would only get 1.5. As we waited in the giant line (which I noticed has already been mentioned) I couldn't help but wonder why so many people had pillows and blankets. Even more peculiar was why the people with blankets and pillows all seemed to be 18 under. Once inside, I finally understood. These are the kids who tell their parents they're headed to the science center for some after hours "learning" aka grope and makeout session. I was completely in awe. The laser show was sweet. No complaints there. The candy was too expensive. And at $8 bucks, the laser show was a bit expensive also. I would love to do this in San Francisco and find out if the kids back here do the same shit or what? read more

The Laser Dome is pretty cool. I've seen three shows here: Queen, Daft Punk, and Gaga. I liked the combination of the music and lasers in the Gaga one, but I think that the Daft Punk one was my favorite. Good sound system, that's for sure - I could feel the bass in my chest during Gaga. Some of the lasers sort of remind me of visualizations on Windows Media Player, but some of them are pretty cool. I prefer the "scenes" that have laser pictures rather than just moving lines or circles. The ground isn't too comfortable to lay on, but it's just carpeting, so don't expect more than that. Bring blankets, pillows, etc and you will not even notice it. Good place to bring the kids - they will enjoy it! It's also a good date spot: my boyfriend and I saw Daft Punk together not long after we started dating and it was really fun. Bring pillows and cuddle up! read more

Hey this place is pretty cool, we decided to check out one of the shows here and I was impressed with how entertaining it turned out to be. I like the option to lay on the ground or sit in the seats, and the show was longer than I had expected. I thought the music show selection was pretty good too, although I would suggest checking out the schedule online, we winged it and had to settle for what was playing at that time. I like the price too, not crazy expensive like everything else in the world these days. It was definitely fun and passed the time. I feel they should have some water..a lot of water.. oh and some snacks.. like cheetos, those chocolate covered pretzels, some skittles, and maybe some popcorn..yeah popcorn, with lots of butter and salt.. Out of all the years I've been in Seattle I have never been to the Laser Dome before. I came here with friends for the Laser Opera show, which is put on in partnership with the Seattle Opera's BRAVO program which tries to get more young people interested in opera. The show consisted of a variety of pieces from the upcoming opera season (Aida, Madame Butterfly, Cosi Fan Tutte, Beatrice and Benedict, and The Barber of Seville). Plus a "surprise" from Queen at the end. Parking in this area is a pain. We took the bus (the 8 stops right near the science center entrance). It was a bit confusing to find where we were supposed to go for tickets. Most people lined up outside the science center entrance were waiting for IMAX tickets. Eventually a staff member asked if anyone was waiting for Laser Opera and escorted us to a line further inside the science center. I didn't have cash so I was worried I wouldn't be able to buy a ticket from there but they had an ipad that let you use a credit card. The cost of this show was $10 and unlike most laser dome shows it was 21+ and they had beer and wine available at the concession stand. I didn't partake of any, but the show may have been even more enjoyable after a drink or other "chemical enhancement." This show lasted an hour and I think any longer than that and I might have started getting bored, but it was a good length. My friend said most of the shows there are shorter (30-45 minutes). Despite seeming like a strange combination, the combination of the laser show with opera music was actually pretty fun! By the time we arrived there weren't many spaces left in the floor area so we were "upside down" and very close to the speakers, which was not an ideal position. I couldn't make out much during the bass portions of the music, it mostly just sounded like a loud buzz/rumble. I assume this is mostly due to being so close. I thought the show was entertaining. It was a mix of effects that look like a screen saver or media player visualization, and actual objects like flowers, birds, and even a silly "cartoon" during a comedic piece. The laser dome has apparently had some equipment upgraded recently, but I haven't seen any previous shows to compare it with. I don't think this is something I would do more than about once a year, but it was an enjoyable way to spend an evening. read more

Protip: Bring a pillow for your head and maybe something soft to lay on. Being on the floor for the duration of Laser Daft Punk, while the show was good, was pretty hard on my butt! There's seating, but I don't know why anyone would choose to sit. There's a ton of carpeted floor space to lay down for optimum enjoyment of the show. Daft Punk was definitely very very cool, but the music is conducive to this kind of stuff. There was also a DubStep that I think I'd love to come back and check out. The sound system is good; not too loud or quiet and perfectly adjusted to the dome building. This is well worth the money and it's a good date activity. :) read more

Came here for Dark Side of the Moon, and gotta say it was pretty flipping cool. And that totally sober - just imagine the "enhanced version"... The only downside is when the lights come on, you realize you're the people over 18 who aren't dressed up like characters from "The Matrix". Although, that's probably a good thing. read more

Sound junkies, this is your place. When a real concert is beyond your reach or budget, come listen to your Daft Punk favorites (or Pink Floyd) done far more justice than your headphones or car stereo could ever provide. The bass in the second half of the show vibrated my insides. This otherwise would just be a cheesy light show, but the sound-centric experience really kicks it up a notch. Given that there aren't a ton of cool things for the under-21 crowd to do on a weekend night, those of legal drinking age can expect to likely be the old geezers in the room, not that it matters. Bring a pillow to sprawl out on the floor for an immersing full-view experience, or just kick back and relax in the theater seating. Though this sort of event harkens back to the height of hallucinogenics and thus I am sure that more than a few attendees partake in something similar, I would warn the fact that the show is only approximately 1 hour may be sort of a buzz kill for your trip. Protip: Don't worry about showing up very early; they don't open the gate until showtime and there seems to be plenty of space. $8.50 on weekends, cheaper other days, with shows about every hour and a half. Apparently they have a Michael Jackson show opening soon... read more

This is awesome if you live here and terrible if you don't. By that I mean I used to live here and went to this quite often. Loved it. Then I moved away and I can't find anything like it around here and it really sucks. I don't remember which shows I've seen but I saw several and each was amazing. There were some audio issues during one of my visits and I emailed the crew afterward. I asked if they had a wire crossed or a blown speaker and come to find out, they had both. I received four free tickets in the mail which was super cool. I hadn't complained to get anything free... was just curious if they were having problems or if it was my ears. My next visit found them to have fixed the problems and it sounded wonderful again. If you are in the area and like music you gotta check this out. Doesn't really matter if you like the band that the show is about... the visuals alone are awesome, but it helps if you like Pink Floyd because that's what the majority of the shows are. Unfortunately I never got to catch the Depeche Mode one. Seemed like they only showed it for one week. read more

One day, Will asked me if I wanted to go with him to see a Pink Floyd laser show. Now, I haven't been to the laser dome since I was what? In the 3rd grade? Something like that. Back during the time when I couldn't remember anything and when teen pregnancies weren't at an all time high. I said yes. Mainly because I wanted to be in the laser dome again and enjoy the music and also because I love experiencing new music in Seattle Center, where I had discovered my love for Motion City Soundtrack during Bumbershoot 2010. They started letting us in at 9:15, which was when the show was suppose to start. Odd, it kinda cut into the time. I expected it to be an hour, but it seemed like it was only half an hour long or so. I am so glad that Will brought the pillow and blanket. I don't remember people laying down on the floor to watch it, but then again that was when I was small and the only thing that I would sit on was a chair. They don't allow you to text, so I was caught with my phone and was asked to put it away. Hey! I'm a teenager so, you can't really expect for me to not have my phone out and not be kissing someone during random times of the show when I'm cuddling with them. Hey! At least I'm mature enough to not the whole entire time. Loved the show. They played my favourite Pink Floyd song, "Wish you were here" during the end.... The line for the bathroom wasn't that long after the show. Actually, there was no line at all. It was fun reading all the random facts about our bodies. Will and I walked through the drained fountain area. 'Don't try this at home kids'. There was an exit thing that was extra wide...for the more round people, I'm guessing. Just kidding, but no, really. Saw a long line for the next show. Maybe we'll be back to see Tool or Led Zeppelin. THEY NEED TO MAKE ONE FOR MGMT! read more

The Seattle Laser Dome is the coolest! This is the only place that I know of where you get to listen to awesome music while watching a trippy laser light show! I always make sure I'm at least a little buzzed before going. It brings the enjoyment factor way up! They have rotating schedules and a few acts that remain constant. They always have Laser Floyd, Laser The Wall, Laser Beatles and Laser Zeppelin. Specialty shows I have seen are Sublime, Muse, Tool, Radiohead and Queen. The best place to be for this show is on the floor so you can lay down and watch the ceiling without straining your neck. Always remember to buy your tickets and then get in line. Many people don't do this and end up getting in last. They also offer concessions for two bucks (candy and soda). read more

I love the Laser Dome! I was able to see Laser Gaga and Laser Beatles! They were both amazing shows! I really like how they let people lay on the ground to watch the show because that is more fun! Just bring a blanket or jackets/hoodies to lay on. The DJ is pretty funny too and he plays good songs. I would love to see Laser Nirvana if they do it again and I hope they can make a Laser MGMT show. That would be amazing! read more

Surprisingly entertaining. We went for an evening show to see Daft Punk set to lasers. There was a line so we were glad to get there early. While there was a wide array of ages in our show, I'd really recommend not taking small children. The show is 50 mins and very dark in the room so bathroom breaks are difficult (still possible). It can frankly be a little disorienting at first. They offer either chairs or you can lay on the floor and look up. We opted to bring pillows and a sheet to lay on the floor, which I'd highly recommend. Once you adjust, the hour goes by quite quickly. Highly recommend if you are looking for something a little different to do. read more

We got free tickets to the laser show and it so happens to be the Michael Jackson showing woot woot! I thought it was going to be really quick but the show was about... 45 minutes I would say? The beginning of the laser-ing wasn't that impressive. I was thinking - get me outta here, but I guess that was just the warm up. Towards the end of the show I was like, hey that was pretty cool! I hadn't been here since grade school but boy was I sure glad I came back. It was a great 'escape from the world' experience for me when I went not too long ago. My girlfriend kindly treated us out to a night here for the Deadmau5 show. We had a blast and even had some laughs with their artworks. It's quite an intensive visually stimulating experience; sometimes I had to close my eyes for a few seconds before continuing. That might just be me though. I am sure the experience I'm sure it enjoyable no matter what show you're there for. I highly recommend watching while laying on the floor for the experience rather than sit in the chairs. It's a much better viewing experience. I would recommend bringing at least a pillow to rest your head on for comfort and if you're up for it bring a blanket as well. I went and saw the Daft Punk show. It was a good time, but I echo comments to bring something soft to lie on - the carpeted floor gets uncomfortable after a while. I'm not sure what other places do laser shows, but this was a lot of fun. It's not the greatest thing ever, but for the price it's definitely enjoyable! read more

What a fun night out! This was my first laser show, and it was a lot of fun! I will say, it's hard to find a seat together, even if it's just two of you, but we barely managed. Also, the entrance is confusing, maybe some more signage to help direct first-timers? The "laser artist" was great, and loved the song choices (Stranger Things). Some idiot turned his phone on as soon as the lights went out to check his Instagram (yes, I could see the screen since EVERYTHING ELSE was dark). I don't understand how you cannot just not look at your phone for a single hour, it will all be OK. Everyone instantly started yelling at him, so there's that. Thought the venue handled the crowd well, and they even had tasty options to snack on! read more

If for some strange reason you're not into Pink Floyd, there are other shows, like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin but you'll have to experience them for yourself because after "seeing" The Wall, nothing else matters to me. read more

i think this is pretty flippin amazing. who knew i would love lasers so much? 1. you can get your tickets online. you also get it at the science center earlier on self-checkout computer machines. my suggestion for the +21, get your tickets there early and then go to one of the walkable bars, then come back for the show. 2. i was warned of the 18 under crowd. but i think this is one of the few places in the city they can go. but i do think it depends on the show. i did see daft punk when Pink Floyd had more of an older/couple crowd. 3. i was warned people brought pillows and blankets. but i didn't know that everyone brought pillows and blankets. that floor made my old 20-something back ache later on. one kid was freakin blowin up a mini mattress or something for his girlfriend and himself. he also had to get all up on our personal space as everyone is scramblin to get a spot on the floor. it felt like nap time in kindergarden. 4. i had the silly idea if i was going to listen to the magic of Daft Punk and see LASERS, there would be DANCIN'. i wanted to get my dancin' on. but there was no dancin', it was just a bunch of people on the floor and in the chairs, sitting and laying quietly to some of the greatest electro dance music. how seattle! read more

What can you do for $8 anymore? How about lie on a rock hard floor for an hour and stare at the ceiling? No? Would it change your mind if there were LASERS involved? Well, you're in luck! Laser Dark Side of the Moon was totally trippy and good, cheap fun. I think we were the only people in line not chemically impaired in some way (and also over the age of 19) but it was my husband's first show and it managed to blow his sober mind. We went on a Saturday at 9:30 and didn't have a problem with lines or long waits - it all went really smoothly. We even got a free song tacked on the end after a few people shouted "Encore!" - I think it was from Animals, maybe? Made me happy we saw Dark Side - I'm pretty sure these can be hit or miss but Dark Side was great. Big recommend! read more

Specifically this review is for the Pink Floyd show. Very enjoyable, loved that Laser Wolf used imagery from The Wall movie throughout, but it was never a carbon copy. Comfortably Numb was the high point (no pun intended) of the show. A little disappointed that some songs from the album were cut, but Wish You Were Here was a nice finale. My only gripe with the Laser Dome as a facility is that it's hard to get to. Other than that, I'm glad I went and I may go see another show in the future. read more

Review in reference to Jan 6th, 2018 Laser Show "STRANGER THINGS". Let me start by sharing the few things that were done well. Using 80s music and core sound track from the show. Drawing of L. Use of Chapter Headings, Bicycle, "Should I stay or Should I go Now" sequence with red sound waves. (5min of show) What was missing... the other (55min) which was filled with an attempt to show off the capability of the lasers which actually made it worse because it made it clear that they were capable of doing more but just flat-out missed the mark and expectations of the audience. What would have given the show 5 stars. 1.) A story line bringing logical show flashbacks 2.) When you show a chapter heading follow it with something actually from the chapter. Examples...Flashing Chrismas Lights, Bear Trap, ABC spelling on wall, House right side up and upside down, bicycles with a van flipping over the bicycles, High school gym with L floating in a pool, Tree in woods, 4 boys around game table, outline of demigorgan, tunnels under ground, swimming pool with a diving board, etc. etc.. Bottom line... DONT take your standard Laser show, tweak 5min of it, add 80s music and call it STRANGER THINGS.... read more

Had not been here in 20 years, disappointed immediately when I walked in. No improvements have been made, sound system sitting on the floor WTF? Sound levels low and dirty clarity. Lasers were not very bright, I am a professional Dj, some of mine do the same and are brighter. Good thing my kids don't know better. Some Corporation needs to step up here like the IMAX situations and take care of this. read more

My husband and I came here for the Laser Queen show on a Wednesday night. We liked it a lot! The tricky thing about the evening shows, is that the Pacific Science Center is already closed, so you have to go around to the ticket booth in the back and wait in line outside until an usher can come and get you and seat everybody. It was a little bit confusing, but oh well. The show itself was great, the laser technician (I don't know what you would call them...) was talented and put on a good show. It wasn't too crowded either which was nice, but then again it was a Wednesday, so weekends might be busier. The tickets are pretty cheap too (I think it was $8 each), which is nice! read more

If a laser show is a first for you like it was for me, this place was awesome! I highly recommend getting in as soon as possible and snagging the spot on the floor right in the center and laying there for the entirety of the experience...you will not regret this choice! I saw/heard EDM, but I can't imagine any music with colored lasers not being a great experience. read more

I've been to the laser dome in Seattle twice now. Once for the GORILLAZ, and most recently for DAFT PUNK. I have a hard time giving the venue a single rating, because each show really is its own experience. If I'm to get the the point, I would say: GORILLAZ: 4/5 DAFT PUNK: 2/5 I'm very big fans of both groups. I saw Gorillaz on opening weekend, and loved it so much I went back next week to see Daft Punk with my wife and 8 more friends. Every person who went to Daft Punk ranged from thinking it was "OK" to "DISAPPOINTED". It may have to do with the fact that as a designer of entertainment myself, I am going to be critical. LASER GORILLAZ 4/5 (Great!) I walked out of this show like HOLY MOLY! That was AMAZING! I want to see it again! The laser show had a slow build up, but kept building momentum and wasn't ever "terrible". What keeps it from being a 5/5 experience is because 1) What's up with having laser do stuff behind you? there were one or two songs where there were the laser show went from above/in front to behind everyone. That, and those sections were always boring. Really really uninteresting laser work, in addition to no one can see it without looking backwards. WHYYYYYY????? 2) The music does not sound very good. It is an OK volume. Not very loud (the bass is loud), and anything with heavy use of words is pretty distorted. If you don't know the words, you won't pick them up here. The audio end is a letdown. The intro was really cool though introducing the characters and the group. The visuals throughout ranged from "OK" to "AWESOME!" LASER DAFT PUNK (2/5 NOT GOOD!) When I left this show I was like MAN that sucked! In comparison to Gorillaz, this was a big letdown. There were sections where the action would ramp up, but then would drop the viewer like a sack of potatoes into terrible-tier entertainment. The visualizations of "Around the World" and the couple of Tron tracks were nice, but they used a LOT of their live performances which aren't as good as their studio work (just my preference). Laser Daft Punk could be improved by fixing these issues: 1) Same as gorillaz. Laser work BEHIND the audience.... WHY??? STOP IT! No one can see that stuff and its a boring as hell 3 minutes even if you can see it! Focus your show in the center of attention of where people are looking! 2) Same as Gorillaz: Horrible acoustics. 3) Change the music! There were a couple songs that sounded horrible! Like even more distorted than usual. And don't use so many live versions! 4)Overuse of the bright white flash. In Gorillaz, it was used once... maaaaybe twice. they used it in this show 4 or 5 times. Too many! 5) Lots of over uninteresting sections, like the encore daft punk heads "talking". That needed to be way shorter. I can't recall the other ones, but lots of "boring" sections with just a couple of moving lasers. 6) Aerodynamic seemed to go on longer than necessary... consider having an artist creatively edit or mashup some of their songs. The intro and finale were boring and uninspired, and the visuals during the main course ranged from "oooo this is getting good" to "is is uncomfortably lame". THE AUDIO There are other reviews hear commenting on how LOUD it is. I don't know. To me, it wasn't loud enough. If you've been to the Showbox at the Market (in Seattle), you've been spoiled by the amazing acoustics and the sheer volume and clarity of the sound. The sound in this place sounds terrible. It has loud bass, but anything with lyrics is drowned out. The highlight is of course the laser show, but the experience of both shows I attended was marred by how dirty and distorted the sound was. The Gorillaz sounded better than Daft Punk, and I am familiar with both bands. FINAL NOTES Bring pillows! We were on the floor for both shows, and I imagine that's the best place to be. Show up 45+ minutes early to be close to the front of the line to get good seats/floor space. Bring a date! Great 45 minute experience to bring a date to. I would like to see Gorillaz again, but would NOT recommend Daft Punk. read more

Went for Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon." Definitely a good time, but I think that was more due to the quality of the album and the TOTALLY LEGAL enhancements than it was to the quality of the laser show itself. Gripe 1: the volume. It was crazy loud, so loud that the amps and speakers couldn't give a true sound. It detracted from the experience. Gripe 2: the lasers at the Dome are extremely high quality, and Dark Side is a narrative album. While there were a couple of interesting animations, the majority of the show amounted to a replication of Windows Media Player visualizations. There were so many missed opportunities; even simple palette changes or angular transitions in time with shifts in the music were missed. I mean, it's a planetarium. Why not send us into space on a tour of the solar system? Throw in a fucking Star Destroyer flyby in "On the Run." Or play to the strength of the medium, and send us into TRON. Just saw their MGMT show on Saturday with some friends. Overall, it was a great 4.5/5 experience, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. The show itself is priced at $9.75, which is fairly reasonable for an evening out. Even though it was a late show, a decent amount of people turned out so I'd say arriving 20-30 minutes early is going to be the sweet spot; especially if you want to lie down on the center, rather than being stuck on a seat (why they bother with seating is something I frequently wonder about.) If you're only buying tickets to the show, you are made to stand in the cold outside until it begins, so I recommend bundling up. Once we got inside, there was a small table where you could buy concessions, but the selection was not great. Honestly, you're better off eating beforehand, but it's not a particularly long show so it's not painful to wait. The spots in the center fill up quick! Really, it's very popular to bring some blankets and pillows and just chill. Once things get started, you quickly settle in and adjust to the atmosphere. The acoustics in the room sound gorgeous- it's loud, but not ridiculously so. It's highly immersive as you're watching the simple laser patterns blend into an ethereal, perception-deceiving dance. It starts out nice and slow, but as the songs get more complex, so does the laser show. At one point, I had to look around just in awe of how they designed it. However, at about 30 minutes in, I was ready to jet. When they start introducing the lower-hanging lasers (?) that shoot across the room, it's not as exciting. For one thing, you have to crane your neck to look behind you and it can get uncomfortable fast. It's just not as compelling as the dome-focused section. Regardless, it was very enjoyable. I felt at one with the music, and my friends had a blast as well. Will definitely come back at least once a month. read more
