I'm finally done with my care at LaserVue, so it feels like time to write this review. The staff I encountered in my pre and post surgery visits were all amazing (especially Dr. Barnes and Moe), and the results of my surgery are very positive. The pricing was competitive as well. That said, my surgery day left much to be desired. When I arrived at the office, I wasn't given my Valium until after I'd paid, meaning I took the pills about 10 mins before the actual surgery. There is no way that medication had the chance to take effect in that short amount of time, and did not help with the discomfort of the surgery. I was very much fully alert and anxious during my procedure, and when I tried to take deep breaths between eyes to calm down, I was not given a moment to do so, I was scolded for hyperventilating. In addition, the people I encountered the day of surgery were completely new to me, and were seemingly more concerned with getting me out as fast as possible than for my mental well-being. All that to say, I would still return to LaserVue, but with a better idea of how to approach surgery. I have given this feedback to them directly, and am hopeful that changes (even slight ones) have been made to avoid this experience for others. Funnily enough, it was my first eye surgery, so it's hard to know what to ask! I'd suggest that you ask for a thorough run-through of what happens during the procedure. I'd also recommend arriving early for your appointment so that you have time fore the Valium to kick in. read more

I recently went there for an eye exam. I got lasik from here ~5 years ago, and after having a few minor complications, I called them to see best recourse. The front desk convinced me that best option was to book an appt through them, after I questioned it for 30 mins, she assured me that was better than going thru my insurance. Lo and behold, the dr told me straight away I should have gone thru insurance. $250 out of pocket later - absolutely do not recommend this place. They are misleading and do not care about patient needs. They want your money at all costs. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Had a great experience getting LASIK with Laservue! From my initial exam and pre-op appointments with Dr. Walsh, I felt confident that I was in good hands. Dr. Walsh and Mo, the treatment coordinator, were both very helpful, clear, and prompt in answering any questions I had regarding the procedure. The surgery itself with Dr. Bansal only lasted 10-15 minutes. I would recommend arriving a bit early to take the oral sedation since the surgery is started and over so quickly. Postop recovery was much easier than I expected and could see 20/20 the next day! 1 week later and back to normal life. A little bit of dryness that is very manageable with the postop regimen. If you are considering any type of eye needs Dr. Jay Bansal is the one to go to. I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes the beginning of the year. My eye doctor sent a referral over to Kaiser, my medical insurance, Kaiser reached out and told me it would be six months prior to any appointment and then up to a year later for surgery. When I asked the Kaiser employee who called if I could have an outside referral I was told cataract surgery was not important. Within a short period of time I could not longer see more than a fog and could not drive, this was ruining my quality of life. I called my eye Doctor and asked for a referral for Cataract surgery she gave me Dr. Jay Bansal's number. I was able to get the first appointment in less than two weeks, the pre op surgery appointment and the first surgery 10 days later, the following surgery 7 days later. I've worn glasses and contacts for over half my life, and it's always been a THING to worry about misplacing them, when I should wear my contacts and for how long (I could only handle a few hours at a time). I figured this year instead of dropping $$$$ on my exam + compressed, coated, progressive lenses + frame AND contacts, I'd just get LASIK and be done with it. While my insurance didn't *cover* it (it is an elective procedure), they did offer a nice discount, so check with your provider! The team at LaserVue made the entire process easy and painless, made sure I understood what all of my options were, and answered all the questions I could possibly come up with. Moe was my Patient Coordinator and really went the extra mile to ensure everything went smoothly with scheduling all of my appointments, and providing me with all kinds of tips for managing my post-op care. I've been incredibly nervous about getting vision correction surgery since my prescription was veryyy high, but I bit the bullet and went in for a consultation with Dr Bansal and his team. They recommended that ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is the best suited option for a patient like myself. They were fully honest during the pre-op that I may not get exactly 20/20 because of my prescription but I still decided to move forward. The operation itself was quick but obviously not a walk in the park from a patients perspective. It was my first surgery! However, the team did everything in their capacity to make me feel relaxed. I recall someone gently grabbing my hand mid-surgery and telling me that I'll be okay, which really helped! Whoever that was, thank you!! My post-op the next day revealed quick healing and vision at 20/25!! Which is wayyy better than what I was hoping for. There's very minimal irritability and some light sensitivity but that's expected to go away as the healing continues. (My vision is also expected to correct itself in this process). Surgery Date: 10/13/2020 Vision: -2.75/-3.00 + no history of eye disease/condition I know my eyesight is not the worst and surgery wasn't absolutely needed. But as someone who is active and likes being outdoors (hiking, camping/backpacking, partaking in watersports) getting Lasik was life changing for me. FREE CONSULTATION: 1) Exams - They performed multiple tests on my eyes to determine my vision and condition of my eyes to make sure this Lasiks is safe for me. 2) Discussion - They showed me a video of the possible procedures including risks and benefits. The best procedure for me was the traditional Lasik survey (VS. SMILE procedure which has faster recovery and less side effects, higher costs and better fitted for those with worst eyesight) 3) Pricing - For both eyes, they offered about $5,000 and was willing to price match. They also offered a discount if someone referred you and another discount if you pay in cash. If you decide to book the surgery that day - they will take a deposit ($500?) to secure your spot. They also offer payment plans, but I opt to pay everything in cash to get the cheapest price. After some research and more consultation at other centers, I decided to go with LaserVue since I had a great experience at my consultation, they offered an affordable price, and the location was close to home. PRE-PROCEDURE: + make sure to get the prescriptions required BEFORE the procedure: 1) preservative free eye drops (can get OTC at any drugstore. HAS to be preservative free!) 2) Antibiotic #1 (get at any pharmacy that has it in stock) 3) Antibiotic #2 (get at any pharmacy that has it in stock) + you will have to bring someone with you to your appointment because you cannot drive yourself after. Do not worry that they will have to wait long. The entire appointment should take about 30mins MAX. The procedure itself takes literally like 5-10 minutes. DAY OF PROCEDURE: + they recheck your eyes to make sure it's safe to proceed with the procedure and put a million eye drops in both your eyes (antibiotics, dilations, anesthetics, etc) to prep you for the procedure + Then I met Dr. Bansal for the first time (for like a minute). He went over the procedure briefly and I didn't have any questions so our chat was very brief. + They prep the procedure room and you go in and lay down on a swivel bed. Dr. Bansal and his assistant reassure me that there will not be pain just some pressure. And they were right. I think it was the fact that I knew my cornea was being cut open freaked me out internal, but I didn't feel any pain at all. The procedure was over in about 6 mins. + They give you a mini kit to bring home: a goggle to protect your eyes for the next 2 weeks when you sleep/shower & sunglasses to wear home. I had my procedure done near the end of the day so I wouldn't have to take a whole day off work. After the procedure, I had dinner (with my eyes closed) and went to rest/sleep for the rest of the night with the goggles on. PSOT-PROCEDURE FOLLOW UPS: + 1 Day Post-Opt - I was able to see perfectly the next morning! I drove to my appointment the next day so they can examine my eyes and ensure it was healing well. + 1 Week Post-Op + 1 Month - for the first month you have to diligently apply antibiotics in your eyes and PF tear so that your eyes can heal properly. + 6 Months + 1 Year - pending! SIDE EFFECTS: + For the first month, I saw "halos" around lights at night time, but this went away by the 3rd month. + I also noticed that my eyes were a little drier by the end of the day, but I continued to use PF tears and an eye heating pad which has now resolved by dry eyes. SERVICE: The staff was super friendly and helpful! They also did a great job of maintaining COVID safety protocols. From all my visits, I only met with Dr.Bansal once during the procedure, but I think the rest of the staff makes LaserVue a great place to get your Lasik done! VERDCIT: I would recommend LaserVue for anyone who is considering getting Lasik. I am so happy I decided to get this done! I no longer have to worry about my contacts falling out when I'm in the waters or outdoor, or having to worry about bring my contact supplies when I'm camping or traveling abroad. I had my SMILE laser procedure to correct nearsightedness one month ago at LaserVue and I cannot be more pleased with the result. I now have 20/20 vision and it feels surreal to have ditched the glasses / contacts I've used since I was a teenager! Beyond actually giving me my sight back (!!!) the whole experience was superb. All the staff, from the patient coordinator (shout out to Moe!) to the optometrists and Dr. Bansal himself, is incredibly professional, friendly and patient. Every appointment has started on time (or as soon as I arrived if I was early) and it's been easy to book appointments at times that fit my schedule. I never felt pressured to move forward with the procedure, I was allowed plenty of opportunities to ask any and all questions, and my eyes were checked several times to make sure I was a good candidate. The actual procedure was as easy as advertised. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, with the actual surgery just taking a few minutes. As soon as the surgery was over I could see better than I could unaided before and from there it very quickly improved. Already the next morning (~18 hrs after surgery) I could see as well as I had with glasses previously. The surgery was absolutely painless - although it of course felt weird having someone work on your eyes - and I had no pain/discomfort afterwards at any point. The doctor and the nurses were super calming and talked through each step of the procedure as it was happening. I'm beyond satisfied with the whole experience and will give my warmest recommendation for LaserVue to anyone looking to go through this truly life changing experience! read more

I had LASIK surgery with LaserVue Eye Center at the end of March 2022. I had been thinking of getting LASIK done for a few years because I did not want to wear contacts or glasses anymore. So I called a few locations in San Francisco to figure out what my options were and LaserVue was the best fit for me. Their staff is very responsive, knowledgeable, and helped answer all  of my questions. I did 2 pre-op appointments with LaserVue and scheduled my procedure. After 30 years of wearing glasses and contacts - I finally bit the bullet and got my eyes lasered! It took me a long time to come to this decision because I was always too afraid. I mean - these are the only eyes I have, so why risk them? Well. I decided to take a leap of faith and started calling up for an appointment. I initially wanted to go to the "famous" 49er doctor and booked an appointment. But something in my mind didn't settle with the thought that "he's not the only doctor who can help me..." - so off to Yelp I go in search of someone just as competent if not better. I then found LaserVue with Doctor Bansal. Their Yelp page is so much more vibrant and being an avid Yelp user, I actually take these reviews with heavy consideration. I really appreciated the reviews that were so detailed with their experience and LaserVue's rating was much more thought out when it came to reviews and how many folks had taken the time out of their lives to write about their experience with him. This pushed me to see what scheduling with Dr. Bansal would be like. His appointment came sooner and so I decided to go for it! I was met by a kind assistant named Alyssa. She took all the diagnostic tests before I was met by their Optometrist Dr. Sefton who took a careful look at my eyes. I didn't qualify for Lasik and this made me sad. However, she did say I was a good candidate for PRK but with a longer healing process. Went over details on cost with Maurice and he was very gracious and pleasant to speak with. Negotiations are fair and the fact that they price matched really made me take this consideration to heart. With the eligibility and the financials done, I took the opportunity and grabbed the next available surgery date and time. The day before the procedure I had a pre-op appointment with Dr.Sefton and everything was green lit for my PRK. The day of my surgery came quick. I walked in and was greeted by a different staff member, who I unfortunately forget her name - but she was kind, funny and made me feel comfortable. I then got to meet Dr.Bansal for what felt like 30 seconds prior to my procedure. He was like Santa Claus - he told me I was good to go and that he'd see me soon. I go to the "operating room" and within maybe 10 minutes, Dr.Bansal was done with my eyes. I didn't see him any more after that. Literally like Santa! So truthfully the procedure was not "easy and comfortable" -- it was actually challenging - daunting and uncomfortable. I mean, getting your eyes scraped and lasered isn't exactly gonna be a walk in the park, even with sedatives to relax you! I wished I had more time to let the pills work me a little more into sedation LOL - after the surgery I left with blurry vision and went home in "recovery mode" - and that is when I had to go through "the process". PRK recovery is very different from Lasik with a longer heal time. I knew this coming into it and so I just had to go with it. I took a week off work because my job involved computer usage, which I was unable to do. Today, I am two weeks post op - and I'm quite satisfied with how my healing process is going. Not all minutes of my day are crystal clear - it is a part of my recovery. However, I wake up with clear vision and I am able to see the clearer days ahead with much confidence and excitement. I have more time for my vision to be at its optimal health and so despite being only 2 weeks into recovery, I am very much satisfied with the services I received from LaserVue. I think the whole experience itself was made exceptional by Alyssa, Maurice and Dr.Sefton. Their hospitality - the knowledge and ease of the process was what made me very much content with LaserVue. Like I said, Dr.Bansal was a Santa Claus - he told me I was good to go and he gave me my gift of eyesight and that was the end of it. BUT, everyone else - I see them for my initial exam, my pre-op and my post op appointments, and they just really added to my experience. I would definitely recommend coming to LaserVue & I am so glad that I finally found the courage to get my eyes done. I am still getting used to life without glasses - but I'm so excited about it that I'm about to buy myself a new pair of sunnies to celebrate wearing them contact lense free!
