If you're not very hungry and aren't looking to eat very much..... lashes is your place for small extremely small portions. So if you wanna pay a lot for an appetizer that cost more than a full meal in a normal place , lashes is your place. I would recommend the fish creel 15 miles north. You get a ton for your money. This is a small place and doesn't look like much from the outside but it is definitely a local hotspot. We went in 3 times. 2 for breakfast and once for lunch. The service was good but the waitress was busy the whole time but did check on us. 2 of the men with me had the cat fish and chicken and said the flavor was great. It was a good experience overall there are 2 other seafood restaurants I would go to before this one but it was good. I would say my biggest complaint was the "seafood gumbo", i know my gumbo I've had it all over the United States and many times all over Louisiana, it was flavorful but it wasn't that good of a "gumbo", but I've had worse. it was more like a seafood stew more than a gumbo it didn't have that Cajun pizzaz AND they didn't serve it with rice, gumbo is ALWAYS served with a little rice. The fried oysters we're really good you can tell they were fresh. Hush puppies were a little plain Jane but the texture was spot on, it needed some seasoning in the breading I would say if they just dashed the breading with a little bit of Cajun seasoning they would be really good, Food was ok, service was good, and the ambiance is ok. One of my stars is based on that you can order anything they sell by the quantity, if you want so many pounds of a certain fish you can order it, if you want to buy the "gumbo" by the gallon you can order it, and so on like a fish market. the restaurant used to be a gas station so it's a pretty unique place to eat. They have THE BEST seafood gumbo I've ever eaten!! It's a little on the spicy side for me but soooo good!! Tonight I also had the crab legs which were OMG delicious!!! Incredibly great seafood , all fresh, I get the fried shrimp platter with a piece of catfish... totally awesome... the fried shrimp isn't Seagrove Market but dang good for North Alabama. Food was Incredible! I ordered the fried oyster dinner and my wife got the fried fish. I got to try both. We also ordered the poppers, which I highly recommend trying! Most places you see poppers on the menu and you know what you're getting. Usually half a jalapeño, stuffed with cheese and fried. Lash's take on jalapeño poppers is basically a stuffed crab inside a jalapeño. They were incredible! The fish was delicious too. Not fishy tasting at all. They filter their grease twice a day. The oysters were huge and delicious. They make their own cocktail and tartar sauce. We will definitely be back! read more

My son and I went to Lash for dinner after baseball Practice one evening wanting some seafood. When we arrived the host sat us and gave us menus. We sat there for almost 15 minutes before anyone else spoke to us. The new owner was walking around joking with tables and the staff but never noticed us sitting there. I asked the host if someone was going to take care of us and she directed a girl to come get our order. The food was good. Steak was a little over cooked but I just ate it and didn't say anything. The Crab legs were very good. We will go back and give it another try. Hopefully they will get things in order and be able to better serve their customers. read more

I have been going here for years. The pictures are old. The new owners have the same great food but have remodeled the place and closed the other place by the river. The shrimp and oysters are fresh (they are never frozen delivered 3 time a week). My wife and me get a large plate each and order a quart of gumbo (best I ever had) to split. Some of the BEST fresh fried Gulf shrimp I've found in North Alabama. Lash's Seafood Market used to have gas pumps and some have called it a gas station/convenience store but no longer. This is a Restaurant now with no gas pumps but terrific, awesome, seafood and other selections. They have lunch specials and usually are always crowded for lunch. They had Country Fried Steak and mashed potatoes the day I ate but I wanted fresh shrimp and fresh shrimp is what I got. The fries and hushpuppies were also very good but the real winner was me for getting some of the best fried (fresh) shrimp north of the Gulf. You can drive (from Florence, AL 380 miles) to the Gulf and find equally tasty shrimp but for a much quicker and shorter drive Lash's gives you equally great tasting fresh fried shrimp and at a decent price. You can also order fresh seafood to take home and prepare but with as good a job as the cooks do here you win both ways. I also tried their Seafood Gumbo which is the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo with Shrimp added and both (Chicken & Sausage or Seafood) were the best I've had in North Alabama. The Gumbo alone is reason enough to make a special trip to find Lash's but either way, fresh gulf shrimp or Gumbo you can't lose because this place serves us freshly cooked, Hot, and great tasting food. As one other reviewer said "Ambience means nothing if the food isn't great" and thankfully the food at Lash's IS GREAT! No longer sharing duties with gas pumps Lash's is a restaurant in a former convenience station and is well worth going out of your way for. This is a gem hidden away in North Rual Alabama but not to awfully far from the Shoals, Athens, or even Decatur. If you are looking for fresh cooked (or raw to take home) seafood/shrimp from the Gulf this is the best place to find it. I was totally satisfied with everything I got. It should be noted that the owner's of Lash's Seafood Market also own and operate Lash's Restaurant which is located a little farther South, down the road, through Fisherman's Resort Campground but the Restaurant is only open after 4pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday whereas this place, the seafood market is open 8am - 6pm Mon-Sat but their cooking closes down at 5:45pm. I've also seen where others feel that this place has "fallen off" but I can't imagine it being any better than when I dined here. The workers were all very friendly and responsive to my every need and provided great service as well as being friendly. The place was very crowded and I overheard others talking about how they were enjoying what they were eating. I hope maybe those who thought that the place had gone down may re-review it because could be things have changed around since. I highly recommend this hole in the wall for great seafood with a cult like following drawing fans from all over. Former owners retired so the new owners Relocated the Town Creek restaurant location & merged it with the seafood market that was converted from an old gas station. Daytime hosts a lot of local lunch time crowds with a daily hot bar but with availability to order, made to order seafood plates, from the kitchen. There are no servers during lunch, so get your own drink & get in line to order at the counter. After 4pm, the crowds continue as it converts from market to restaurant format with great servers. ALL YOU CAN EAT FROG LEGS every Thursday night starting at 4pm. This place is all about fun, faith & family 1st so absolutely no complaining is allowed. Just a lot of laughing & lots of fun. This is the place that everyone treats their out of town guests, anniversaries & special occasions. I have always been happy with product and will still use them for seafood but was a surprised by them taking advantage of me. I called ahead to reserve 9 pounds of shrimp and they said i will have to take jumbo at 12.00 per pound. So i drove over and picked it up and they over charged 152.30. i had flip flops on, but still could not make the math come out to 12.00 per pound. I called and after several people going back and forth the price changed to 14.99 per pound. Be careful before you just pay and leave. they should have been peeled and cooked for what i paid. heads up read more

The market is good! But the restaurant on the water fisherman's resort.. One word : Yuck! Everything is deep fried, overcooked, and overpriced! And our waitress sucked! She spilled tea all over our table and in my purse trying to fill up a glass, she didn't even apologize all she said was oops, I'll get some napkins and when she brought them back she just laid them on the table didn't even try to help clean up the mess she made. She also tried to tell me that the tuna in the smoked tuna dip was from the gulf coast.. Well that must have been one lost tuna!! Will never go back!!! read more

If I were rating the food and atmosphere only, I would rate this place a 4. However, my review includes the price(pretty steep for some items and not justified), and the horrible, terrible, lackluster, absolutely pitiful service we received. When we were seated, our section's waitress passed the table 3-4 times with no smile or acknowledgement of any kind. When she finally came 10 minutes later, there was no greeting, no name given, no pleasantries of any kind, just "what can I get you to drink?" I noticed two of my items were missing upon receiving my order and when I mentioned it, she checked the ticket as if I had lied about it, and then without a word huffed off and returned with 1/2 of my items in a basket, and no apology. When I asked for the rest of my items she brought them to the table behind us(that's another story). Realizing her mistake,she hurriedly laid the items on my table (again without a word) and ran off. Apparently, the girls seated behind us were family/acquaintances, as I counted the waitress going to their table 13 times(actually missed a few, so this is very conservative). She came to our table 5 times including to get our order, deliver our order(giving my one and only drink refill), return with missing dinner items(and dropping off the check), and then ignored us from that point forward. We had to get a "to go" box from the hostess. Never Again Did I say, "Never Again"? Never again; not for any price. read more
