If you like coffee, you'll love it at Tom Sawyer Country Coffee! I've been here a few times and had a different drink each time. My favorite (so far) is probably the Cholaca mocha (so that might become my go-to drink). If you like chocolate, then this one is for you. It has a deep chocolate taste, but not sweet, and if any of those health benefits of that chocolate are true, then I'm all for that! Of course, they roast their own beans right here, and the owner is super friendly. There are several tables with chairs, so you can find your perfect spot. Plus, if you didn't bring anything to read or occupy your time, other than drinking some coffee, the shelves are loaded with antique coffee paraphernalia. (You could spend quite a bit of time perusing while you are enjoying the coffee.) If you need some ice cream, you can get a few scoops (I've not been tempted yet, but I've watched others eating and their faces are pretty happy). Lastly, you can purchase a few bags of beans to take home. You'll be getting beans that were lovingly purchased by Tom in the various countries of origin, and then roasted by his skilled hands. Always super friendly and the atmosphere is cool. They provide both indoor and outdoor seating as well. The WiFi seems to be quick which is great for getting work done. For the hot days or any time you have an ice cream craving they have you covered there too. Most of all the coffee is high quality and really good. The only down sides are: They are a bit on the spendy side. So, while I like their coffee I can't afford to go as much as I would like. And another minor gripe is that I wish they had a larger 'large'. On a hot day I could have gone for a bigger refreshing iced coffee. So the first time I went in there I had great service and I have been in several times since and have received even better service each time I go in which now is almost impossible to receive any better!!! I tried a couple different drinks and bought a bag of their decaf coffee which is really good and nice and dark, robust and smokey!!! I also tried a new dish they had which was a personal size quiche with something and feta. Soooo good!! This great coffee shop has the roasting machines right in the front it's just really a cool ambiance!!! I have loved Thomas Hammer coffee since they opened. My 2 star review is not reflective of their quality of their normal coffee. The ladies who work there were kind. My 2 star review is reflective of their expensive coffee flight that tasted watered down. Served by 3 kind ladies who did not wear a mask at all. None of them had one on. Im not sure how their business has not been fined or why they are exempt from the laws put in place. I will not be back there until the pandemic is over and I will not endorse the product. The baristas were great - fun to talk to and made suggestions about what to order which I always love to hear! Only downfall was the coffee tasted a little off to me. Might have been that I came towards the end of the day but it wasn't as smooth and rich as I would have hoped. Mr. Sawyer has been roasting for over 50 years and now has his own local shop. This place is amazing! Superb coffee, great and friendly barista, awesome decor with vintage cans from the ground to the ceiling on one side. I would love to have a collection of that lol. I ordered a Cholaca mocha (so not as sweet a regular mocha). With a Cuban shot (cinanamony) and let me tell you BING I am officially awake. We asked for some help choosing some beans to take home and Tom the man himself showed us some of the the coffee that he believed that we would like. After we decided he brewed us a small pot (2 cups) and served us with a free cupcake that went perfect with the Viking double dark that we were trying. Over all a great experience. I went here one Saturday afternoon with a friend and we absolutely loved it! Not only is the building full of beautiful, old pieces of coffee equipment but the staff is wonderful. We got there around 2:30, they were closing at 3, but Tom Sawyer (yes the owners name is Tom Sawyer which makes this place even better) let us stay inside and enjoy our drinks after closing while he was finishing up some work. I had a chai tea latte that tasted different from other shops I've tried, but it was absolutely delicious. They seem to have a very unique flavor of drinks. Be warned about the drink temp, they brew things HOT. Let it air out for a few minutes before enjoying. All around great establishment. read more

My wife and shared a hazelnut latte. Some of the best foam we have had, said by 2 previous coffee managers. Super neat facility, transparent roasting in front of you, history on the wall, great flavor and aroma. Met owners and chatted with other workers too. Tried the chocolate coconut scone. I entered this coffee shop tired and slightly cranky & straight from the Spokane airport (I hate traveling). Questioned went into the latte I ordered and then asked that it be not made in a paper cup after the lady had already pumped syrup into it. I opened my mouth to apologize for being so difficult when the lady noticed I was in sweats and carrying a large duffle bag & asked if I was arriving or leaving town. She was incredibly SWEET and wished me a wonderful weekend with my cousin who I was visiting!!! I left the coffee shop in a much better mood than when I had arrived. I also learned from the sweet lady that the owner has been roasting coffee beans for over 60 YEARS and has collected all the antique coffee bean cans that decorate the inside himself!! read more

Tom Sawyer is the greatest. As an adjunct professor who lives nearby but has no real office space, I often make Tom Sawyer's into my little office for entire days at a time. We came at 6:45 am and was welcomed even though they don't open at 7:00 am! Both my friend and I are drip coffee only kind of gals so I can't comment on the other kinds of drinks. Drip coffee was fabulous. Nice space both inside and outside, quiet (even though most of the tables were full!) and smells fabulous. Just some packaged pastries so if you're into eating something with your coffee, the choices are not extensive. Looks like a good selection of coffee beans and I totally forgot to pick up some after staying there two hours. Great place, will return. read more
