I've always thought my eyes (6.0 and 6.5 with astigmatism) could never be corrected with Lasik, but after learning it's possible, I was determined to do it. The initial assessment was very nice, there were only a few people there (went to Dunwoody location), and the doctor that did the assessment was extremely knowledgeable and wonderful at explaining everything. I had to go to the Galleria location because they had the more specialized laser for my horrible prescription. I wasn't really nervous, but excited to finally have the procedure. I was a bit put off at first (not to the point I'd reconsider) by the sheer amount of people there for Lasik-- and ONE doctor. It's definitely a mill. They must make a fortune. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Second, I was put off by the doctor. He looked really rough-- like a homicide detective or military captain. Like he's been beat up a lot and doesn't shy away from a good fist fight (LOL). He smiled a lot, to make me feel more comfortable, but he didn't really try to answer my questions and seemed annoyed (some of the things he said to expect were NOT what the doctor who did the assessment said-- he didn't have any interest in hearing it).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All said, he did know how to use the laser and corrected my vision just fine. E X P E R I E N C E I have extension vision history and have considered lasik for a long time. I wore Ortho-K (hard corrective contacts) when I was 6 years old until 12 years old. Then have been wearing soft contacts (I hate glasses- bouncing around my face making me motion sick, and the side view limitations/distortion) for loong time after that. My vision is -650/-675. I did extensive research on which doc and company to go with. I've had several close friends come to this location and have a wonderful experience. The pre-procedure doc (Indian lady) said that they treated a woman of -1200 (my mind literally doesn't understand what that means bc without glasses, I could barely read a foot in front of me and anything more than a foot, were shapes and colors to me). This place, is the bombdiggity.com (does that expose my age lol). ***Initial Consultation: You'll go in for a consultation. Do not be alarmed at the sheer number of people there. The turnover is quick! I went in at 8am, done by 930am. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They even offered same day procedure (but due to personal obligations, it wasn't a viable option for me. So I opted to do it 3 weeks later).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] ***Day Of: Overview: Check in. Sign papers (they really CYA bc they make you sign multiple paragraphs and parts of the paragraphs multiple times to make sure you understand lmao). Pay. (GO PEE NOW). You'll meet Dr Smith for a last assessment. Then procedure. Then Head home! I arrived at 7:55am for my 8am scheduled time and I was done by 10am. *The Procedure: From the moment you are called in, to the moment you walk out, it's a 15 min situation. You'll put your stuff down. (feel free to throw your glasses out the metaphorical window). You'll put on a bonnet. The staff will have you lay down on the OR table (in between two machines). It's a little chilly in the room (we love that. Less bacterial growth) and there's cool funky classic music on (makes you conflicted because i wanna dance but not really because I was nervous for the procedure loll it was calming/uplifting). They put some guaze on either side of your eyes then they'll flood your eyes several times with the numbing drops (It's really soothing). The doc comes in, floods your eyes again. Slides you under machine to the right, puts these clamps under your eyelid to keep your eyelids open (doesn't hurt I promise; you just see him doing stuff but no pain). Then tells you to look at the green light, then he puts this plastic looking circular thing (I bet you love my very proper official names) and presses down on your eyeball (all you feel is pressure. Again, no pain. My vision went black and I could see spots of light). Then he slides you over to the machine on the left and that's where the magic happens. Theres no light or laser to look at; so just look somewhere in the middle. (I just saw a bright white screen with white lights in a circle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He counts down "5 seconds'.."3 seconds"..."Done!" which is so reassuring).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Your first eye is done. (Literally it's done before you know it). Repeat second eye. Then you're told to sit up. (I thought I f-ed it up bc I didn't know where to look for the second machine, BUT when I sat up, it was so hazy BUT I could already see better than without my glasses T__T it was. Amazing.) Walk over to the third part (separate machine), where he floods your eyes with more numbing drops and uses forcep like tools to go fishing around on your eyeballs (again, doesn't hurt. It's just weird lmao I'm assuming he's laying the corneal flap down properly). You look at a green dot. As he's moving the (I'm assuming) flap around, this large fuzzy red circular shape appears. You hear clicking and smell something burning. A few seconds and it's done. Repeat second eye. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I literally gushed at the doc and the two staff members and thanked them (I was still stunned from the procedure tho) and walked out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] YOU'RE DONE. (I could read some text on my phone!) Get home safely! *Post procedure: When i got home, I took the HydroEye vitamins, taped the two clear eye covers to my face, and then napped. Stay in a dark room and listen to podcasts/make phone calls :) TIP: Make alarms for every hour. | I did EVEN hour for the Blue cap (Antibiotic/Steroid) drops and ODD hour for the Clear cap (Optase- hydrating dry eye) drops. this way your eyes are hydrated! My eyes hurt. It felt like I was wearing contacts that had dirty particles on the edges. It felt like I had sand pebbles on my eyeballs (these are dry spots!!). My eyes wouldn't stop tearing up. Keep flooding your eyes with the hydrating eyedrops! Normal! TIP: Cover your eyes at all times. | If you're not wearing the clear eye covers, make sure you're wearing the sunglasses (even when indoors!). Do not risk forgetting and then rubbing your eyes! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff here was really kind. Chris at the front desk was one of the nicest people I've met.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I couldn't believe how kind and reassuring the surgeon was. He's done over 160,000 of these surgeries, but he took the time to listen to me and didn't dismiss my fear prior to the surgery. He didn't rush me and he even told me I was brave afterwards. The surgery was a little scarier and more intense than I was expecting, but the recovery was way easier than I was planning for. It's essentially 4 sets of 30 seconds that are very uncomfortable and then it's over. 2 minutes total. I didn't experience any pain afterwards and would say the discomfort was mild. The aftercare instructions were clear and easy to follow. I was nervous about having to walk my dogs a couple hours after the surgery, but it was no problem. I had LASIK done a little over 10 years ago and one of my eyes seemed to be getting slightly worse than the other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Dr. Ro let me know that the correction needed would have been so minor that an over-correction was a very good possibility and recommended against performing any correction procedures. 1st..upon initial consultation they BEG you to submit a review online/Yelp.. dont believe me? Walk in and prepare to be harrassed until you do. Obviously before you have a life changing procedure you are treated exceptionally well because they want you to commit...after your long "healing" process you are not treated so well. Had my procedure done in 2016.. in both eyes I was -2.0... when I came there I was told I would receive discounted price for that..NEVER happened..paid full price. Since the completion of my surgery I've had vision problems, dry eyes, light sensitivity, halos, starburst etc. And to top it all off I have been prescribed glasses for the astigmatism I now have from the surgery. ... I called and reported the issues I had throughout the 1st few months and was told it was common and to wait 6 months...when I reported after 6 months, I was told to give it 1 yr... after 1yr I was told it gradually improves within the first 2 years..2 years pass with the same issue..and..well you get it?..smh they take very little accountability for their shortcomings.. how can a place be proud of giving the run around after disappointing results?? I felt very comfortable and the procedure was quick and no pain just pressure through they made me feel comfortable. So I had to get mono vision one eye farsighted and one eye for the near sighted it's been over 3 months I still feel as if I have a bit of a blurry vision and not feeling as if I'm 20/20 especially at nights and watching tv. LasikPlus is a well-oiled machine, which I liked because I wanted it to be quick and uneventful, and Dr. Smith, who is the surgeon for both the Cobb and Gwinnett locations, has seen over 117K patients. What the entire process looked like for me: - Consultation - virtual (1 hr): For basic questions, think you can skip this if you've already done your research (expected it to be with the actual office but it was someone in DC) - Consultation - in person (1 hr): Went into their office and they dilate your eyes and Dr. Patel checks if you're a good candidate for Lasik. I am blind as a bat (-5.5 in both eyes) but that wasn't an issue. I asked her how many people have gone blind from their office and was told none. Pretty good odds. The front desk gives you your quote. - 3 days of not wearing contacts before the procedure - If you want Valium, they can call it in to your pharmacy the day beforehand and you bring it with you day of - Day of: I had a 8:30 am appointment and they told me to be prepared to wait for 3-4 hours so I brought my computer. You can't drive after the procedure so you need to arrange someone to drop off/pick up. Staff are all wearing masks and you're required to wear yours the entire time, including surgery (good). Dr. Patel checks your eyes again to make sure they haven't changed, you pay, and then wait. I was summoned around 10:45. Chatted briefly with Dr. Smith, he answered all my questions and put me at ease, then I was in and out in of the surgical room in what felt like 5 minutes. - I could see immediately after, it was a little like looking through a blurry camera lens - enough to be able to text/use my phone to call. They give you (or rather, you buy from them) post-care drops and pills, plus stuff to tape eye covers to your face for the first 3 days so you don't rub your eyes. I took a 4 hour nap and could see pretty well when I woke up, but the vision definitely got better over the next few days. - Follow up appointment - first business day after surgery (30 min): Dr. Patel checked and made sure my eyes look ok, did the expected plug asking for a review on FB/Google, then on my way out, the front desk asked if I wanted a T-shirt (say yes - you won't regret it), and sent me on my merry way. I'm just relieved that if I get stranded on a deserted island or the apocalypse happens after the November elections, I won't die immediately from running out of contacts. I was sooo scared and nervous to get lasik done but my brother came and had a very good experience.he referred me and I came to the consultation. I was hoping to get a lasik procedure. However, I noticed lots of manipulative high pressure sales tactics being used during my initial consultation. Dr. Patel whos actually a saleswoman ( perhaps not a doctor) and very pushy kept asking me whether I'm exicted and when I would like to schedule the surgery even though I clearly told her I haven't made up my mind yet. I felt weirded out with my experience so when I got home, I researched it and came across this site lasikcomplications dot com. I came here for my boyfriends procedure. The entire staff was so attentive and really made everything more calming. PLEASE READ BEFORE DECIDING First off, I want to say, if I knew then what I know now regarding the truth about the risks and complications resulting from LASIK eye surgery I would have kept my glasses and not gone through with it. But like most, I was fed up with glasses and excited by the promise of "experiencing life free from the hassles of glasses & contacts" (as the LASIKPlus brochure puts it), I failed to remember LASIK is still surgery and I didn't take the time to properly research it. I have included a file outlining all the risks and suggest reviewing before deciding. Secondly, their goal is to sell you on LASIK. Their technique for marketing lures you in the door with advertisements of cheap pricing (which nobody ever qualifies for), and after performing all tests, they tell you the 'real' price. Next, they gloss over the 'low' risks and don't tell you the truth about how risky a procedure this really is. You know why??? Because they know if anything happens you can't do anything about it... NOPE, you can't sue them... EVER! Reason is, the day of surgery, they make you sign a waiver 10 pages long which again, glosses over the risks. Lastly, they offer to do the procedure same day, an absurd practice. Who offers to do a surgery the same day as the consult? This place is like a factory assembly line. The doctor spent all of 90 seconds with me just minutes before the procedure. Other office personnel do all the testing and decide on your refractive percentages. That's insane! Would you allow that with any other surgery? Of course not. He looks over the paperwork, asks if you have any questions, then once again in his presence, has you initial and sign that you accept the risks. Think about that for a minute, this procedure is so controversial that they make you sign your rights away not once, but twice...and in his presence! THE RESULT OF MY SURGERY WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL!!! The mono-vision performed OVER-CORRECTED MY RIGHT EYE, which according to my cornea specialist is at 20/150! So not only is the huge difference between my two eyes creating a depth perception my brain is unable to adjust to, but I can no longer perform my job working on a computer! I have been to both a cornea specialist and Ophthalmologist who were appalled by this error. Furthermore, daytime driving is difficult, and I can no longer drive at night due to halos, double-vision, and starbursts around lights and street signs. And believe it or not, on my only post-op visit the day after surgery, they considered me to be a "success". So much so, they said I required no further post-op visits unless I had any issues. So, in closing, I only wish to educate others so that everyone who reads this FULLY recognizes how important it is to do as much research as possible before making a decision. The industry claim is that only 1-2% of the population ends up with complications, but that percentage is a lie. Refractive surgery is so risky that retired FDA advisor, Morris Waxler, who voted to approve the treatment, now wishes he hadn't and asked the FDA in 2011 to issue a voluntary recall of it, but the FDA declined to do so. Why? Because it's a $2bn business! Waxler's analysis suggests that 10 to 30 percent of patients experience complications that can arise even 20 years post-op. Some with neuropathic eye pain so severe they committed suicide. Some went blind, have lost an eye, many develop cornea ectasia, and the list goes on. Finally got the procedure done and my eyes are better than normal now. The process was relatively quick, literally 7 minutes per eye, and almost painless. That suction cup on my eyeball wasn't the most comfortable feeling but definitely worth the end result. Dr. Smith was amazing, I'd say the best there is. The downfall of the day was the wait time. Prior to having the procedure done, I was told to expect to be there 2-3 hours. My appointment was 9:45, so I had in my mind being out by 1pm. 2.5 hours later they processed me, then told me that the wait was 2-3 hours. I ended up getting out of there around 3:30. So if you're thinking about getting lasik done here, the 2-3 hour time frame is after processing. read more

The open and CLEAN office had a great atmosphere and would put anyone at ease. The staff is so sweet and accommodating. The hours are very broad! I was in communication with them about scheduling an appointment for lasik, they informed me they were extremely booked before thanksgiving and I asked if I be booked in the Duluth location Instead, suddenly Dr.Patel says she found an opening for Tuesday 24 but be prepared to wait 4+ hours. In my consultation, they checked my eyes and pushed me to have a same day procedure, I couldn't and opted to do a later date. I told them from my research it was important I don't be in pain and I want to take a relaxant. They said they'd give me a Valium and throughout the day or the actual appointment they said they would. As I'm on the table to have the procedure 4+ hours later Dr Brian smith says he doesn't like doing procedures on patients on Valium and he will give it to me afterwards for pain. I'd asked several patients throughout the day how their appointment went and they noted it was well and the Valium helped (mind you they won't let your driver up due to "Social distancing" but EVERY seat in their office was full with patients) they refuse to give me the Valium which I'm sure I paid for and as I'm being serviced they have someone else being serviced in the same room on the machine I just got off of. So much for social distancing....as I leave dr Patel again refuses to give me Valium and says I should eat and go to bed. I left their office at 5:30, traffic was horrible and I was in horrible horrible pain. I couldn't sleep and my eyes felt like that had been stabbed and shaved down. It has been a week and my vision is NOT as good as it was with my contacts and glasses. I have a follow up in the Duluth office today and I'm sure they'll have to do a corrective procedure. $4000 and I was rushed out because it was more important for Dr Patel and Dr Smith to go home for the holidays than to do a good job. I tried to make an appointment here twice. Unfortunately traffic is so bad that I have missed both. Their location cannot be found by gps. This is what upset me. Last time I was 10 minutes late, which I called and told them because of an accident. And as I'm trying to call the office to figure out why it doesn't match where my GPS is... None of the numbers are to a local office that can help me. I spent another 20 min getting passed around until I found someone that could cancel my appointment for me. They may have good specials but the traffic around the area does not in any way make them worth it. I live 20 min away and I left my house an hour earlier than that. Again, not exactly their fault... but not being able to reach a local office for assistance just really threw me off. What happens after the procedure if I have a problem? read more

I'm extremely pleased with my experience here. The staff is very friendly and all wearing masks. The lobby is large enough for patients to social distance. The procedure is very quick. I was told to go home and take a nap. I did, and when I woke up I could see clearly! At my follow up they told me I have 20/15 vision.
