I am writing this review 18 months after my life changing Prelex implant procedure. While I could see better almost instantly, it took a YAG laser treatment for each eye and about 6-8 months for my eyes to really adjust. I can't remember when I could see as well as I do now. No concern for the patient's time and schedule. I always book the first appointment of the day hoping to be seen on time. As is typical I received a confirmation call a couple of days before my appointment. I stated that it will be very important to be on time as I have a biz meeting I can't miss. While the folks at Woodhams may be talented, the phone system to get in touch with anyone there is pitiful. In preparation for an upcoming surgery, the scheduler informed me that I need to obtain certain eyedrops to have ready to use after the surgery. However, she sent an incomplete prescription in and when I asked her to send another one for the second prescription, she did, but the pharmacy did not receive it. Trying to get in touch with the scheduler was almost impossible and my call kept going to voicemail. After over an hour I finally received a call and now I have to make another trip to the pharmacy. This place broke my irreplaceable and quite expensive designer frames. Do not trust these folks with your frames or expect to get glasses in a reasonable time frame. To purchase almost two thousand dollars worth of goods and services and only get one pair of glasses, is unacceptable. I ordered two eyeglasses and paid to have the lenses in my current frames replaced. I was assured there would be no issues and to put my trust in them. It took five weeks for me to have a grand total of one complete pair of glasses. The frames were cracked on the second eyeglasses handed to me and my designer Face â Face frames were broken by the lab. I was given an apology and told there was nothing they could do. I was reluctantly offered free frames from their very limited selection which is half the value of a pair of Face â Face frames. A truly aggravating and heartbreaking experience. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had Prelex done on one eye last fall. Prior to the surgery, I went for an evaluation, twice. Both times I was told I was a great candidate for Prelex and the outcome was expected to give me improved vision to the point of no need for any type of glasses. I repeatedly asked if the Lasik I had done years ago would affect the outcome of Prelex and was assured it was not a problem. I had the first surgery in June. My vision the day after was blurry, almost like I had lotion or oil covering my eye. It did not improve. Letters and numbers were doubled, they called it ghost letters, and the glare was so bad I had wear sunglasses inside my home. At the one week check up, I was told that my eye was healthy, the lens was placed correctly, and there was no reason for the impaired vision. "Come back in two weeks, maybe it will get better." Two weeks later, still no improvement. After being told again there was no reason for the impairment and "no idea what the problem is", I was understandably upset, not angry, scared and upset. Dr. Woodhams gave me a lecture on how outcomes vary, "you're not blind, so be be grateful for that, and don't get angry with me because you did not get the results you expected." After some back and forth, he offered a lens replacement. I got the second lens replacement in August and after one month, the YAG laser procedure. On the last visit I asked when should I come back and was told, "no need, nothing more to do, wish you the best." All total, 12 visits to the office over three months. My vision is 3 times worse than before I had the surgery. I am now seeing a new eye clinic and was told, I never should have been offered Prelex due to my Lasiks. I can't have another lens replacement after having the YAG procedure without the risks of serious complications. My vision is so limited in the surgery eye that if something happens to my other eye, I am screwed! No prescription glasses/contact has improved my vision in that eye. A better option, one never offered to me, would have been a non-prescription lens replacement followed up with Lasik. So, in short, I spent 5200 to get a small cataract removed and to make my overall vision worse than ever before. read more

Having worn glasses for close to 20 years, I wasn't sure if I could ever lead a glasses free life. Not only did I have a high prescription (I'm was in the -9.0 ballpark), but I also have thinner than average corneas and a flatter than average eye. LASIK and PRK weren't on the table, but when I came to Woodhams to explore other options I learned about ICL. If you have ever been told you're not a candidate for LASIK, PLEASE come to Woodhams Eye Clinic for an ICL consultation. It seriously is life changing. From learning about ICL on my first visit to getting the actual procedure done, the staff at Woodhamss was thorough, patient and efficient. They were always willing to take the time to address all my questions (I had many!), and their professionalism made me feel very confident I was in good hands. And I was! The day of the surgery no detail was missed: staff made sure I always had a complete understanding of what was going on, called to check in on me a few hours post discharge, asked if I needed any blankets if I was cold etc. Dr. Woodham performed the procedure and it went off without a hitch. When I woke up the next morning and opened my eyes, I literally started crying with how clear my vision was. (For reference, one day post op I already had better than 20/20 vision!!!) It had surpassed all my expectations. Like other people, I was discouraged when I learned LASIK wasn't an option for me. But don't despair!! There ARE other options for people us like out there that deliver just as good if not better results. Your eyes are one of the most precious things you have, and they deserve the best of care. I ordered glasses on 3/22 and called them on 4/7 to get an update. I asked the person if my glasses had arrived. She curtly responded, "if you haven't gotten a call, they're not here". I must say the staff at the clinic are extremely rude and unprofessional. They cancelled my wife's paid in full 9500 elective surgery because we filed a complaint against the eye center employee. Did not refund us any explanation and lied in the physician. I am involving the ga board of medical examiners and patient bill of rights as they had the berve ti call us the today the day before the procedure. Some kid named Ashley and Nicolette in billing is who we filed a complaint against with the office manager. They had sufficient time to inform us and refund my credit card. I had to cancel many trips as we are world travelers read more

Here again but this time for my eye check up. They are doing construction at the front of this complex but it did not hinder my ability to park directly in front of the facility. Check in, as usual, was easy, fast and painless. I love that they have a big waiting area and they have wifi. Love it. And free coffee! The check up went well and the staff was friendly. And Dr. Woodhams who did my surgery stopped in to say hello to me. This clinic does everything for your eyes and not just the lasik procedure. People need annual Eye and this clinic does this. I was extremely nervous about having LASIK but the staff and Dr. Woodhams put me completely at ease. I went from having contact prescriptions of -5.0/-4.25 to having 20/16 vision overnight after my Jan 15th 2013 surgery. I was a bit tired and uncomfortable after the procedure but I slept for 3 to 4 hours and was diligent about putting my drops in. I've had very little discomfort sense. I had a slight bit of halo effect from headlights and taillights while driving in for my follow-up appointment at 8 AM the next morning. It's now five days after surgery and I just realized I drove home in the dark last night and didn't notice any halo whatsoever. Yes, Woodhams is more expensive than others in town... But they offer bladeless LASIK which not only equates to faster healing times but lowers the risk of tearing the corneal flap post-op. (Uh, and also no blades slicing your eyeballs open. Bllleeerrrrgggg!) They also came highly recommended from a handful of my coworkers that went there for their vision correction surgeries. I was there for about 2 to 3 hours the day of my surgery but the actual procedure only took about ten minutes. Dr. Woodhams met with me right before the procedure, which is an extremely nice touch & put me even more at ease. Two thumbs up for the Valium. By procedure time, I was like "extra lasers, please!" The post-op mini ski goggles are a sexy bonus. I'm so glad I opted to go with Woodhams for my surgery... These are my peepers!! I use them almost every day! ;) All in all it seems like a very small price to pay to obtain perfect vision and know that my eyes were in the most capable hands in Atlanta. This place is absolutely stellar. From the second I called for the LASIK consultation, all the way to every follow up, these people have been absolutely wonderful. The fact they remember my name every time I walk in is really great. They really know how to make you feel special! Firstly, they're so friendly and personable, it makes the whole atmosphere completely comfortable. If I had any doubts or concerns, these people would address them above and beyond - but by this point, I was already ready to change my life with better vision, I had already answered any questions via the internet. I elected this location based on reviews and I am so happy I did. The consultation was free and it was fun. After it was decided I was a candidate, I met with the counselor where we discussed the cost and scheduled a date. It was so easy. Day of the surgery, they were very fun and still just as personable. The results of the surgery were amaing and I already had 20/20 vision the next day - with the expectation if it to improve even more! The follows up are quick and efficient. As I write this, I am waiting for my 1 week follow up. I showed up late, naturally, but they're super accommodating. I whole heartedly recommend this place to everyone to get their LASIK, the procedure is quick, productive and recovery was literally next day! read more

I just had ICL done on 2/14 and it was a great experience. The staff and Dr. Woodham were fun and friendly the entire time. I was a little nervous having a procedure done on my eyes but they totally put me at ease. The communication and follow up that they do is top notch. Finally a company that actually uses email and the Internet the way they should. I honestly don't have a bad thing to say about Woodham's and that is a hard thing to believe. I needed lens replacements 2 years ago. I went to two other eye professionals and then decided to have the Woodhams eye clinic take care of my problem. Everything went well. I was very satisfied with the results. About a year AFTER the lens replacements, I had a cloudy effect in my right eye. I went in and it was determined I had to have surgery on my eye to eliminate the problem. Dr. Woodhams took care of it and made sure everything was RIGHT. It has been 5 weeks since surgery and my eye sight is better than 20-20. I am 69 years old and have the sight of a kid now. DO NOT let anyone but Woodhams take care of your eyes. I had a wonderful experience at Woodhams with my icl surgery. Dr. Woodhams is very knowledgeable and explains the entire process thoroughly so you know you're making the right decision. Ruth, the nurse who was with me during the entire process day of the surgery is an incredibly caring individual and really helped me stay calm through the day. The surgical staff was also wonderful and I felt very comfortable entrusting my eyes to them. If you're not a candidate for LASIK, I could not recommend icl surgery enough and Woodhams is the place I would do it. read more

Had cataracts in both eyes. Went to Woodhams for the surgery. Since I had worn glasses since the 8th grade, I decided to pay the extra money and get the multifocal lenses. Had the surgery done in both eyes and was thrilled immediately afterward to not have to wear glasses. Soon my near vision began to get worse. During my last follow-up, I told the technician that I could not read anything on the card that they give you to test your near vision. I was supposed to see another doctor, but Dr. Woodhams came into the room instead. He said that I would need to wear readers to see close-up. He asked to video tape me with his phone - asking me to explain that my near vision had become worse after the surgery. I agreed to the video taping. He said that he wanted to show this to the lens manufacturer because he couldn't seem to get their attention about this happening. I am very unhappy. I have purchased readers and have them in every room of my house. I can't see my phone, chop an onion or read without putting on glasses. Had to get RX sunglasses to be able to see close-up in the car and in the sun. I sent Dr. Woodhams a letter (return receipt so they received it) and stated my disappointment. I didn't choose what lens to implant. I certainly didn't expect to get faulty lenses. In the letter, I asked if it were possible to redo the surgery and if not, that I thought they should refund me at least the difference between the standard lens and the multifocal lens. I have received no response. read more

Unfortunately True Experience I visited the top 3 clinics in the area prior to choosing Woodhams, I selected them based on a sense of confidence they gave me on this procedure. Before surgery we did a 2 hour consultation which included testing to "make sure" I was a good candidate. Afterwards, I was told I "was a perfect candidate". Having heard over and over how this would "change your life" I was excited that I would fix my farsightedness. They said I was in good hands, I paid out of pocket as I did not have insurance, I put it on my credit card as it was important for me. Unfortunately, the outcome was not as promised. I received no appreciable benefit from the surgery. After surgery they estimated 2 weeks for healing, I went back as requested for a follow up. At which time I expressed that I saw no difference, I was told to wait for improvements. I did a couple of follow up visits, 4 months later, at which point I was told to expect no further change or improvement. It was kind of "that's it, we're done". That day was my absolute worst experience. They told me they were not willing to do anything else, and the most humiliating of it all, I was then told by the operating doctor himself that I should just go buy a $5 pair of generic glasses. This is not an exaggeration or a joke, that is exactly what I was told, right in front of his own assistant, this is how I was treated after trusting them and spending $4,000. He told me this harshly, got up and walked away, with a bad attitude, he did not care, I felt treated like I was worthless, this was a shock for me to hear, I felt lied to, taken advantage of, and humiliated by this place. To this day no attempts have been made to work something out with me in attempt to correct this issue, I was simply tossed aside with no importance. read more

I started at Woodham's more than a decade ago when my former eye care physician's office closed. I always felt like a number at Woodham's. Perhaps due to my previous experience, I should have expected what finally happened Friday 4/14/2017. I arrived 10 minutes late for a 1:00 PM appointment due to unusually heavy traffic on 285. The receptionist stated that I was late but she but would ask the doctor if she would see me. She came back and stated that I would have to reschedule. I explained that I had taken a half day off work and had driven for 40 minutes and was only 10 minutes late. She explained that the doctor had an office meeting at 2:00 and the visit would take 50 minutes. I looked at the clock and it is was not even 1:15, so she would have been about 5 minutes late to the office meeting. There were 3 people at the desk when I told her that I would be changing doctors. One of them gave me the paperwork to transfer my records and I completed and returned it to her. When I called back Monday, the person took the doctor information and told me it would take 12 days to transfer my records. I asked to speak to the office manager but she was not available. I left a voice message for her to call me but she never even returned my call. I consistently had to wait 10 minute and more for my appointments at Woodham's and most doctors give you at least 15 minutes before requesting that you reschedule. Woodham's obvious practice to schedule a patient such that if they arrive even a little late they will not be seen is inconsiderate of the patient. They never told me that if I did not arrive "exactly" at 1:00 PM, I would not be seen. Obviously, the staff also does not care enough about their patients to even return a telephone call. read more

Dr. Woodhams did ICL (implantable contact lens) surgery on me back in 2007, and I am still seeing 20/16. It was a great decision. For those of you who are close calls about being a candidate for Lasik, definitely consider ICL. To me, it was an easier decision since they don't laser off part of your eye. I would not recommend this Woodham Eye clinic based on the experience that my wife went thru in 2018. She was sold the multi lens that would correct both near and far tightness. Don't believe it! It might work on some but not on all. She paid $7000 above what her insurance paid for these to good to be true lenses. She has to use reading glasses for all her reading. I feel it's over rated and over priced for what you can get from other doctors performing cataract surgery. Don't be sold some miracle story. read more

Decent doctor but the wait was always over an hour in the waiting room. Once called, I also had to wait a long time in the exam room. Everytime I went the I had to wait a long long time. And the waiting room was packed with people who were also waiting for exceptionally long times. The crowded room, uncomfortable chairs and long delay made this an unpleasant experience. I started going to Woodham's Eye Clinic a few years ago in hopes of getting the Prelex surgery. The optometrist I had been seeing for years told me it was impossible to correct my nearsightedness and accommodate my up close vision at the same time. He wanted me to wear contacts AND readers at the same time. Dr Chartash was able to put me in multi focal lenses which worked great for a while. But, this year they said it was finally time for Prelex. I just had my second eye correction and it's been life changing! For the first time since I was 18 I can wake up and see without putting in contacts or grabbing glasses. The procedure is completely painless, Dr Woodhams talks you through everything. Maybe a little stinging as the numbing drops wear off but they give you drops to take care of that, I needed that maybe twice for each eye. There are 5 weeks of drops so be prepared for the after care, but this is the best thing I've ever done. Everyone at Woodhams makes you feel comfortable and cared for throughout the entire experience. I would give 10 stars if I could! read more

I had LASIK with Dr. Woodhams in 2001, in the initial consultation I was told that I had nice thick corneas and could expect 20/20 or even 20/15. At that point, I had been in glasses forever 20 years and we scheduled the surgery. About the best I got to was 20/30 and a couple of years later I developed cateracts. I do not blame my cateracts on anything Dr.Woodhams did, that would be stupid. But, with that being said, after I was diagnosed with the cateracts, Dr Woodhams and his staff quit returning my phone calls. I guess since LASIK ultimately did not work for me and the fact that I'm not one of his success stories, I was dropped like a hot potato. Totally abandoned by Dr. Woodhams and his staff. read more

I originally started going to Woodhams for my Lasik, the experience was so positive that I decided to use the cline for my annual eye exams. My first check-up was about 12 months after the Lasik, the Dr. that I saw for that exam said I had 20/12 vision but since my insurance was so good she wanted to put me in glasses! Needless to say I was shocked and rather upset that I spent the sum I did for Lasik only for someone to try to push be right back into glasses! I just went to Woodhams for my second annual eye exam after my Lasik and the technician started doing the same the same thing to me which was taking the approach that if I was there something obviously had to be wrong with my eyes. I spoke with the Office Director about this and was told that the practice follows the approach that no one comes in just to make sure their eyes are doing well but only comes in because something is wrong so their approach is to start with the assumption that something is wrong and hunt until they find something. Personally I do not want to go to any doctor who follows this kind of a practice, assuming you are sick until you can prove you are not! It is a horrible practice and one that makes me worry that they will find things wrong just to run up the bill because after all someone in good health with good eyes are not as profitable as those that have things wrong! read more

Fifth Visit - Day After Surgery Exam: This one was quick and easy. surgery had only been sixteen hours before. My vision was blurred and hazy, as I expected. they said everything looked fine and even with the haze I managed to see 20/20 distance in one eye and 20/30 in the other. Again, i wouldn't call it "quality" vision, but I'm happy with how it is going. I'm writing this 47 hours after surgery and my vision continues to improve, although reading at the computer has actually been tougher today than it was yesterday. Keep putting those drops in!!!! Sixth Visit - One Week After Well, I'm one of the people who doesn't have an instant recovery. I've had double vision "ghosting" for the last week. I can read great up close, but anything past that, including a computer screen, was very difficult. And far sight, ugh... All doubled up and impossible to see. I took my eye drops religiously. When I went in I was told that I needed non-preservative drops, instead of what i was given. Apparently my eyes are very sensitive and my cornea was VERY dry, so it is like I've been trying to see through cracked glass. One day later and my vision does appear to be better, although it still has a way to go. My next visit is in three weeks. Logically i understand the issue and I'm OK with my progress. It just happens. Emotionally, I'm still a little nervous and afraid that I may be the .001%.... I'm still sticking with my five star rating though due to the way I'm been treated and the fact that it has only been a week. Seventh Visit - 30 days Vision is much improved, although ghosting is still an issue. According to the eye chart I'm at 20/20, but the further out it is the harder it is to see clearly due to the ghosting. Again, it is MUCH better than it was!!! I would still definitely recommend LASIK and Woodhams at this point. Major improvement has also occurred within the last seven days. My only wish is that they'd been a bit more clear as to the potential length of the recovery process, but I guess they don't want to scare people away either (needlessly). No visit - 60 days: I won't have another check-up for over a month, but the vision continues its slow improvement. I can see at a distance more clearly each week. Ghosting is still an issue although it seems to occur further out. Part of the healing process I guess. Still very happy I had the surgery. Eighth Visit - 90 days Still have a lot of ghosting and vision regressed since day 60. Can you say dry eye??? That is what they say the cause is and hopefully it is. I started Restasis yesterday to the tune of $250 for a 30 day supply. Gotta love Caremark insurance coverage.... I'm definitely frustrated. The double vision is a PITA. Due to this, I go back again n 30 days. More to follow 11/13/12 Ninth visit -12/10 Dry eye was much better, but the ghosting is still a PITA. They said to give it a bit longer and see what happens. It is 12/31 and if anything the ghosting is worse, maybe because the vision is better? I'm going to make another appointment and see what the next steps are. I don't get the feeling that six months of double vision is normal.... I've dropped the rating to three stars for the time being. I'm losing patience and ready to have good vision. read more
