I was upfront about my health history immediately and shared that I did not believe I would need surgery or drastic intervention but wanted to take preventive steps to take care of some issues that had come up. Then, after giving the office access to my records I was told my case wouldn't be taken on specifically because of my complex medical history. I understand every provider has the right to decide which cases fall within their comfort zone, but it was disheartening to be turned away specifically because of health circumstances that led to needing periodontal care in the first place? I'd have appreciated more transparency about what specifically made my case a concern, being told upfront when I disclosed my health history that Dr. Astolfi does not work with patients who have complex medical conditions, or even a referral to someone equipped to treat patients like myself. Patients navigating complex medical situations are often the ones who most need to find a provider willing to work with them, not around them. The introduction to this office by a Groupon limited the dental care I received until the next cleaning which we paid first in full that allowed us a more comprehensive exam and prophy that brought to light a LONG list of DENTAL issues not uncovered in the Groupon visit. And when I asked about the difference, SAM, the hygienist, copped an attitude and explained why there was a difference between the two appointments. The cheap Groupon price afforded me a cheap exam! Without going into too much detail, I never returned because the trust was lost. There is something amiss in that office between the front office staff and the dental staff that I wasn't going to continue to be subjected to the inner workings of this business. Tread lightly.

I chose this provider because they were flexible, the additional services provided a luxe experience and the customer service representatives were friendly and helpful. I completed my files ahead of time electronically which was great and made check in easy. The day of my appointment, I was greeted by a woman with an amazing smile and top notch personality. Immediately I felt like I needed to be here. They are currently undergoing renovations as this is the secondary location, however the front end of the office looks superb. When brought to the back rooms for dental work is where the atmosphere is dated and not the same as the newly renovated office or the STROUDSBURG location. My cleaning with Clara? and exam with Dr. Taormina was amazingly thorough, however my experience lacked what I was essentially looking for and could have received at the other location. This is the only reason why I gave 4 stars and look forward to my 6 month exam when everything will be completed and brand new! However, it turned out I did have an infection (I went private today for an EMERGENCY root canal), something they either overlooked or weren't experienced enough to identify on the X-ray. So, despite being in severe pain that brought me to tears, I was expected to wait another week with an untreated infection. Honestly, I'd rather go through labour again than endure that pain. If you're not prepared to act on genuine emergencies, don't offer emergency services. The only positive aspect of my visit was the front desk staff, they were friendly, understanding, and compassionate but unfortunately assuming the practices rules they couldn't book me in for a root canal.
