Cute cafe with a surprisingly large selection of food and drinks. The shakshuka was spicier than expected but very flavorful, and the black pepper steak was also quite good. I found the matcha a bit gritty. Ordering was inconvenient...because the counter is separate from the dining area, we had to keep going to the front to get someone to take our order or check out.
I really enjoy coming here for drinks! I recommend grabbing their matcha strawberry drink which is sweet & refreshing! I typically ask for light ice and less of the strawberry base since I'm not a big sweets person, but this one is delicious! I also tried their dishes for lunch, but I'd come back more for the drinks! It's also a great work from him spot with a good amount of outlets and seating.
Lately Cafe is a bit of a strange place. Me and my girlfriend stopped by late one evening when we needed a bit of a pick-me-up before heading back home. We ordered some coffee, and a little plate of food The latte wasn't particularly great, and took them AGES to actually make it. It seemed like maybe they were having a latte art night or something at the time? There were a lot of people who seemed like friends of the staff just playing around with the espresso machines and stuff. A positive is that there is a lot of seating here. So, we had no trouble finding a cozy spot to sit and eat. The food and drinks were okay, but I just don't think it would be a place I'd go again, unfortunately. Maybe it was just an off night, but it wasn't a great experience.
Not as wfh friendly anymore as they are more restaurant like but I think the food got better! Would love coming here for brunch take out. I love that the drinks are so unique here, like the grape tonic espresso that they have. At first these are so unique I do a double take on whether I like it or not, but after couple sips I am hooked and start craving it in couple days!
My SIL and I were heading to Manhattan for volunteer work and stopped by The Lately since we ran into a couple walking out who said it was great. We went around 10 on a Saturday and got seated right away. We shared the shakshuka which was flavorful but a little watery (wish the sauce was thicker). I got a hazelnut mocha, she got a matcha latte, both with oat milk which is an additional charge. My drink was good, but hers was the winner because actually tasted like real matcha, not the usual watered-down stuff. Cute spot overall and so close to our place still go back for their specialty drinks!
Super cute cafe with ample amount of seating and fun beverage options. My mistake was I ordered a butter beer latte, thinking there wouldn't be coffee/espresso in it, which there was. That was on me and I should have tried their chai which was probably very good. I do have to says I had a vanilla donut and it was incredible. I scarfed that down before doing a call in the back seating area where others were also working. Great spot to work from and loved that I found this spot right next to the Target.

Wow wow!! This place is Amazing!! I came to LIC for a dance class and came out super hungry. I was not dressed up for a fancy place. My dress was casual, so that was the reason I chose Lately Cafe. They originally were a coffee shop, and now serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Well the fried pork ribs were juicy and super flavorful, I had the spicy seafood salad, that was beyond amazing as well. And lastly I had the Firey Ribs Hot Pot. My friends and I shared, 4 of us. It was a perfect portion. Don't sleep on Lately Cafe. This is a hidden gem. Also they had oatmilk and almond milk for my cappuccino so I finished with a lovey perfectly steeped Cappuccino. Love love this spot.
Drinks: we only tried the cold brew and ube latte on our first visit. The latte was yummy and you can really taste the ube flavor. The cold brew wasn't that good though so probably wouldn't get it again. Their food looks pretty good and we'd definitely go back to try it. Service: quick service, staffed well Ambiance: played good throwback music, decoration was nice, had a lot of seating inside.

They serve Devocion so the coffee is top tier. Atmosphere is relaxed and there are plenty of options for seating. Food menu looks great! I will definitely be back. read more

My friend and I are on an ongoing journey to find cafes in NYC, especially in Queens, to work at. We came in on an early Monday afternoon, a little before 1 pm, to see all the seats were taken, so we put in our drink orders and sat at the bench to chat and wait. It seems like people tend to come in and out, so we were able to get a seat rather quickly! After 1-2 hours of being there, the majority of the buzz that we saw around lunchtime was practically gone. I ordered an Iced Pistachio Latte with Oat Milk (~$7) and I loved it. It was my first time having a Pistachio Latte so I'm not sure how it fares against other cafes, but I liked the slight, nutty sweetness of the drink that complemented the coffee itself. It seems like there are a lot of food options too, which I plan on trying at a future visit! If you're looking for WFH cafes, this is a great option. There are a lot of outlets for laptops and devices, although you do have to choose a table or bench by the wall. When we first came in, these tables were filled so come early or wait it out. It's also a nice cafe for grabbing lunch with a friend! They play great music inside, plus there's also an outdoors seating area in the back. read more
Got an iced matcha latte with oat. The base price was already pretty high but with separate add-ons for "ice" and "alt milk", $9 after tax and tip! The service was ok. The cashier had a hard time understanding me. The latte itself was okay as well- very mild matcha flavor and a dull green color. Definitely expect better quality and flavor with the prices. Perhaps their coffee is better, but I would look elsewhere for matcha read more
Overall, seems like a good place to grab coffee/brunch/lunch and catch up with friends or cowork/study. IMO it's a bit pricey but aligns with other coffee shops in the area, also it's New York :') I've been here a couple times to do some work. I've only ordered drinks here Matcha (asked for it without the milk) was standard cafe matcha, nothing fancy. I had to pay the full price even without milk :') Their Earl grey tea is actually VERY fragrant, I wished they served it in a large cup because I usually like to leave my tea leaves in for longer and after just a few minutes the flavor was too strong for the small cup. But I did like it! Kind of want to buy the tea bags I was about to get an ube latte once but then learned that it's actually caffeine free, so I decided to go somewhere else. I haven't had the food here but it did look good, esp the chicken sandwich. The first time I came it was pretty quiet the whole morning (maybe a Wednesday or Thursday?) but the second time was packed (Friday). There are a good amount of outlets and seating too, and the wifi is solid (have to ask for password). read more
I went last Monday around 3 PM, and it was pretty packed--only a couple of empty seats left. A lot of people were there alone, having a late lunch, sipping coffee, and working on their laptops. I got the Iced butterbeer latte and the spicy Cajun BBQ pork over rice. Both were really good and just the right amount of food. The vibe was cozy and chill--perfect for grabbing a solo meal and some coffee. I'd totally come here all the time if it was in my neighborhood. read more

Fall weather means cute cafe season, and @latelycafe checks all the boxes: - great bites and drinks options - vibey music - calm ambiance for working from home/ studying with friends - cute patio - lots of plants What we got Bear Madeleine ($4.25) Croissant ($5.25) Cheese Danish ($5) Pistachio Latte ($6.25) Ube Latte ($5.75) Brown Sugar Latte ($6) Coconut Latte ($5.75) Sausage & Avocado Sandwich ($14.50) Spam & Pork Floss Sandwich ($12) Their pastries are also the perfect snacks, when you're on the go! Flavored lattes have a grip on me everytime, def try the brown sugar latte if you like your coffee sweet! The ham & pork floss is a nice nostalgic blend of flavors, from the spam and pork floss to egg and cheese. I love my mayo drizzle too so this definitely hit the spot. The sausage & avocado sandwich is a great breakfast sandwich cause it has Italian sausage, egg, cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, drizzled in mayo! They also have friendly staff! read more

I didn't think the decorations and set-up in this cafe was that nice, so I was disappointed since I was looking for a cozy cafe atmosphere. There are sit-down tables (about 7) where you can sit, work, eat, talk. The decorations were pretty bare, but there is low volume music playing in the background which was nice. The pasta burrata was mid, and I could make this at home probably better and cheaper than $16. The coconut matcha latte was worth it, and I would order this again. The coconut flavor wasn't too strong and I think the matcha stood out. Also, I think they're busy so it's understandable, but I was waiting at the counter for a while before they were able to take my order since everyone was busy making drinks. read more

New coffeeshop in LIC opened up and it's lovely. My review is based on the opening month which didn't have too much inside, however, the coffee was solid and so was the sweet customer service. It was a quiet mid afternoon on a weekday and several customers dined in as well. The seating was limited with small side tables. The big window facing the courtyard outside gave a nice afternoon lighting, great for pictures and natural light. For me to critique the espresso drinks, I usually do the Americano/drip coffee test and of course it hit the nail. They do NOT do drip, however. I heard their coconut latte is their staple from the barista and several passing customers. The pastries were limited, although the cookie was delicious and great with my drink. Overall, the ambience has a very natural wood and greenery interior. More nice things happening post COVID in LIC. Accepts cash, card and Applepay. Indoor/outdoor and takeout available. Bathroom available. Wifi and outlets available for working. Drink up! read more
This is a brand new coffee shop that just opened on Monday! I stopped by this morning and ordered the coconut latte with oat milk. This was an excellent drink, it wasn't overly sweet, and the espresso was smooth. Would get this again! I also overheard the customer in front of me rave about the cold brew, and how it was the best one he's had. The have a few pastries as well. The service was great, the were attentive and very friendly. The coffee shop is cute, they're still waiting for furniture but they've got a cute setup. Stop by if you're in the area! read more

The food overall was pretty good. The drinks were a bit questionable. The iced ube latte was very watery and diluted while the iced matcha latte tasted bitter despite being asked if we wanted the drink to be sweeter. The grilled chicken sandwich required a knife since it was a whole chicken, but upon asking for one, they said they were out of knives. When asking if there were any plastic or ones that could be quickly washed, they repeated that they ran out in a frustrating tone. This was pretty odd since we only saw like 2 other people in the cafe who ordered food, so by that logic they only have 2 knives in the entire kitchen. We compromised by stabbing a fork in the middle of the sandwich, so the inside contents wouldn't fall out, but would have hoped the staff was more apologetic about the lack of silverware available for the food. read more

Lately Cafe is a popular spot for brunch on weekends, and while the food can be a bit pricey, it's probably due to the student crowd who come to study and hang out. As a result, they've set some time limitations on the tables. Still, the atmosphere is cozy, making it a great place for two friends to catch up over drinks and pastry. I enjoyed the chicken pasta--the chicken was perfectly cooked with crispy skin. The sandwich, however, was on the smaller side, and the flavor was too heavy. I'd recommend trying a different combo, perhaps with a more chewy multigrain bread for the base. read more

This is a cute new cafe next to Target, but I had a mixed experience. I ordered an iced coconut oat milk latte, which was good, but I'm pretty sure the barista used regular milk by accident. I didn't notice until I was a few blocks away and didn't have time to go back. The barista was pretty aloof, too. Lots of seating and conveniently located near the train. Might give them another shot one day but for now I'll keep going to No Stress. read more

You order at the front and find a table till they call your name. There's additional seating downstairs and a backyard. We've been wanting to try this place for a long while and finally got around to it. We had the ham with pork floss sandwich and the Italian sausage sandwich. I felt the ham sandwich would have been much better without the pork floss. And the Italian sausage sandwich, would have also tasted better without the Italian sausage. The flavor of the sausage didn't match well with the rest of the ingredients in the sandwich. Regardless, they were both tasty because of all the other ingredients. read more

Hey everyone! Just had an amazing dinner at this cozy little spot called Lately Cafe, and I can't wait to share it with you all! SEAFOOD SALAD Let's start with this refreshing seafood salad. The shrimp and squid were super fresh, and with the arugula, tomato, and carrot, every bite was so light and tasty! Squeeze a little lime on top, and it's perfect! SUPREME PARTY MEAT PLATTER Meat lovers, this one's for you! This platter comes with steak, chicken wings, chicken leg, and ribs, all grilled to perfection. The portions are huge--ideal for sharing with friends and having a great time! HOUSE LASAGNA This lasagna was the highlight for me. Layers of cheesy goodness mixed with rich tomato and ground beef sauce--every bite was pure comfort food bliss. Definitely a must-try! YUZU FIZZ Finished off the meal with a Yuzu Fizz. It's super refreshing with a nice citrusy kick from the yuzu and lime juice, balanced with gin. The perfect way to end the night! read more
